R U NORMAL? ... who wants to be normal? Was Guru Nanak Dev Ji normal when he walked 82,000 miles? Was guru Gobind Singh ji normal when he asked for a head! Were any of the martyrs normal, choosing death than living like slaves? No, the devotees of God are not normal they are madly and deeply in love with God while the whole world thinks they are insane ... When Guru Nanak Maharaj appeared from the river after three days, all soaked and with messy hair, people called him many things as guru nanak dev ji himself writes: "Some call him a ghost; some say that he is a demon. Some call him a mere mortal; O, poor Nanak! ||1|| Crazy Nanak has gone insane, after his Lord, th…

Musical Framework of Guru Granth Sahib

Source: http://www.sikhreview.org/may2002/music.htm Gurbani Keertan today has been commercialized to such an extent that, barring a few, most singers are only concerned with making quick money. Their limitations to experiment within the prescribed vastness of Guru Granth Sahib is camouflaged in the excuse that the Sangat does not prefer to listen to Keertan in Raags as prescribed by the Gurus and thus it is easier to convey the message of Gurbani in catchy tunes. This shallow argument poses questions, like: "What does Guru Granth Sahib, our eternal Guru command us on the subject of Keertan? Why is it that the Gurus chose raags to classify Gurbani? What is the relation be…

The time must have been a little after midnight. Something seemed different that day. With difficulty I lifted my head and peeped out of the small window of my hut. Although I could not see anything due to the pitch darkness of the night, I sensed some activity in the trees. I closed my eyes and listened. To my surprise I sensed the trees were in the same jovial mood as they were when spring was approaching. Winter had just start…

Why I am not Khalistani?

Writer: Vikram Singh Massachusetts USA At a certain point of history (1984 and for some years after that), a majority of the Sikhs around the world (both in India and abroad) supported the idea in one way or the other, irrespective of whether they were vocal about it or not. However with time support for the concept of Khalistan waned. It is true that amongst the Indian Sikhs it has little or no support. Many Indian Sikhs speak of the Khalistanis with contempt, sometimes with a greater verocity then that they hold for the Congress,BJP or RSS. I personally feel that this is due to many reasons. One reason is a feeling of being let down with the Khalistanis themselves.…

The Miser (Greed - Lowb) There once was a miser. He spent all his life collecting untrue wealth. Needless to say, he was quite heavily loaded in his old age. He spent all his golden years worrying about the accumulated wealth. His worry reached the peak on his deathbed. Indeed, he was so worried that he collected the finest jewels of his treasury and put them in a bag; the bag was put under his bed and he would feel it before, after and during his sleep. When he knew his breaths were numbered, he desperately called his wife, "Sohni, please take this bag and put it in the attic. When the death messengers are dragging me, I will grab on to the bag and …

At one time, a young child went to a Sikh Saint, and stated that no, matter how hard he tried to keep Gurbani in his heart, he just could not understand or keep it. He stated that his mind was not a bucket, but a strainer, which let everything pass through and did not contain the meaning of gurbani. The saint said "let us try an experiment. Here is a strainer, and here is some water, and pour a bucket of water through the strainer. " The child did this and said " see the water was not contained, it just passed through, my mind is just like this". The saint said. " Do it once more" , he did, and still the water passed through the strainer. The saint sa…

PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THE FOLLOWING; Do not let the FIRE in your belly consume you, read this with an OPEN mind and make your own valued judgement. All of this can be verified by reading transcripts of the koran or visiting the Hizb-ut-tahrir and Khalifa websites (can be found using search) engines. Furthermore remember that we as Sikh people have been under attack from the Muslims since the Arabs rose to power in 713AD (source Punjab.com), constant attack to assimilate us has been carried out since. The mogul emperors the shahs the British and the Hindus have all seen us as an underclass, and they have treated us accordingly. However, we have not succumb and do no…
