Amrit vela and long hours

This is about my wife who has been getting up for amrit vela to read bani. It’s a good thing as she’s a lot calmer in herself, more happy. But she’s also more tired. Getting up for amrit vela means 5 hours’ sleep, 2 hours for amrit vela (starts at 4am, not counting ishnaan). Then gets ready to go to work, 1hr commute. 13 hour shift. Comes home. Eat. Goes to bed. She has started nodding off when driving, and on her days off, spends most of her time sleeping to catch up. Hours are fixed. Most of her colleagues live within walking distance of her workplace. She doesn’t want to move as we live in a nice area. She eats healthily but doesn’t have t…

Dilemma

I need some help please. I wish to take amrit with my wife. She is insists on taking it for a certain sikh organisation. Her family follow programs and teaching of this organisation. Although they do follow gurmat and are panthic I don't agree with some of their practices and from being to programs feel as if it is almost like you have to follow their way to be invited to all their programs. I on the other am more open to all organisations and pick what things I like best from each (that I think are in line with gurmat). What do I do? Do I compromise and go to where she wants to go having doubt or?

Hi I remember reading a topic where someone extensively explained why hindus were worse than tarkhaan n stuff and at one point said they were beggers because of clothes they wear. That’s all I can remember but can’t remember exactly what was said and was trying to find it but can’t. No i don’t hate hindus(or any one else) so don’t start bashing me ?. Just trying to find it again. thanks

Please take a look at the following link: http://www.multicultural.co.uk/sikhism_intro.htm flip through the pages and on several pages they have misinformed the users e.g. how Sikhs usually enter Khalsa at a age of 14 (we're not Jewish...) and how Guru Arjan Dev Jee was 'killed' by fire - Guru Arjan Dev Jee we made Shaheed by seveare torture, leading to begin sat on a hot iron plate and hot sand being poured over them during the extrememe heat of June. Please contact the company and inform them politally and professionally of this mis-information. Contact details: http://www.multicultural.co.uk/tourismnetwork.htm Thanks Wahegurooo!

Do things ever stop pulling you ?

Does anyone have any personal experience on whether maya ceases to have effect on people ? Even after reading baani, we feel short . We feel attracted to people even in gurudwaras. Like when a handsome guy or cute girl walks through, many young minds who otherwise submerged in divine rass of kirtan would tilt their heads to see that person they feel attracted to. People who say they have renounced things , and indeed very tough it is to renounce your dreams and lifestyle (when it conflicts with dharmic life) and many other things if you desire to walk on the path to spirituality, but I have noticed that despite walking on the spiritual path, we feel attracted to…
