I think they are exposing the moral corruption of society. They expose the hypocrisy of people. You need to be careful and socially smart and aware of what's going on around you. A lot of the characters are conniving spiteful and have bad intentions. The "holy men" are sleeping with the wives of their disciples, while rich old men are marrying women half their age for pleasure. This is still happening today A lot of the female characters have been given no purpose but to look attractive and in result have become shallow and promiscuous, while women who have been involved in dharma from the beginning by their families stand shoulder to shoulder with their fathers and brothers in battle. One story is about jehangirs daughter who liked a sikh man but the sikh man refused her so he was beheaded by jehangir. When the sikhs head was presented to the daughter on a tray, she reaches out to touch the sikhs face and the head moves back. Moral of the story is that a sikh does not touch a female that he is not married to and that even in death he did not let her touch his face. These days even some amritdharis are sleeping around. In another story guru gobind singh ji tells us that when he came of age his father, guru tegh bahadur ji, made guru ji take an oath by him that he will love his wife as much as he can but not even in his thoughts think of another man's wife. Charitropakhyan then is followed by chaupai sahib which is about destroying our inner enemies the panj chors and asking waheguru to do kirpa on us and protect us from the panj chors. I really don't understand why some people don't accept charitropakhyan, they must be close minded people who haven't tried to understand it. All the characters in charitropakhyan are everywhere around us everyday ... Correct me if I said wrong somewhere ...

Truer words were never spoken. You have captured the essence of the "moderate Muslim": He who is too cowardly to himself blow people up, but is happy that some of his "brothers" aren't.

Any surprises for guessing the usual dog has come back barking again. Here is a little advice get yourself a bone and chew on it. As for lowering gaze I am aware of the phraze but In sikhism or punjabi we have a different phraze for that. So why copy the exact muslim one is what I was saying.

Hindus have lost Pakistan and Bangladesh. They probably lost parts of Afghanistan as well. It may start of Sufi but it ends up more Arabic. Look at those Sri Lankan muslims, twenty odd years ago, they would look like every other Sri Lankan now they have those black burkha, their men are growing those moustachless Abraham Lincoln beards and wearing those outfits that make them walk like penguins.

Well said and summed up. This is one of the reasons why I treat muslims with the same way they treat you. Ie that is my philosophy treat us others how they treat yourself. I never made or had any muslims friends for this reason. They are not to be trusted and should be kept are arms length. For them your just another person they hope they can convert. One guy had the audacity to try and to try and slighyly get me interested in Islam lol. While at college. He would say things like Im going to pray and other kinds of comments. He had no idea who he was dealing with. By the end he was the one that started to take up an interests in Sikhism.

From sant Harnam singhs biography "se kinehya ?" THE WILLPOWER OF BABA JI Baba Ji used to mention that during the years he spent serving sadhu Santokh Das in his village, one day he casually told Baba Ji that, "When a youth steps into manhood, he should lower his gaze, as a mark of humility. For those who do not, are often deceived by what they see." The sadhu's words became engraved on Baba Ji's heart. When Baba Ji was returning home that day, a young lady was turning the corner into the street. Upon seeing Baba Ji, this young lady pulled her veil over her face, as was the custom in those days (as a measure of modesty young women would cover themselves in front of men). Baba Ji thought, "This woman covered her face in my presence because she considers me to be grown up. I must therefore behave like an elder andlower my gaze." The next day, when Baba Ji was going towards the fields to work, a respectable elder from the village saw him passing and called out to Baba Ji. On calling him over he said, "Harnam Singh, I need to advise you on a matter. Do not take it wrongly." Baba Ji replied very politely, "Bapu Ji, please say what you must without hesitation, I trust it will be for my benefit only." The old gentleman said, "Man's youth is like a flooded river of emotions. If one loses their foothold in the water, you are carried with the water and only good fortune of your destiny can save you. You are deeply religious, even in your youth. Be vigilant of the mind and careful of your emotions. Do not look upon anyone with vanity or lust. That's all! This alone is the way to save yourself from misdeeds. "This advice from the elder reinforced Baba Ji's earlier conviction. Miraculously, the old man's words sank deeply and firmly into his being. This incident gave Baba Ji such great fortitude and willpower that, for the 34 years he lived amongst his family and the village, he never looked upon another woman with bad intentions. He would go about his daily work, in and around his house with his gaze lowered, in respect and humility. As a result, of this thinking, lustful thoughts would never arise in his mind or cloud his conscience. Except for his mother, Baba Ji would avoid trivial chitchat with other women. Thus, in his behaviour, he fulfilled the words of Bhagat Namdev Ji… "He who forsakes another's wealth He who forsakes another's woman Near him alone does God (the man lion) abide" par Dhan par daaraa parharee. taa kai nikat basai narharee (Bhagat Namdev Ji, page 1163) "He whose eyes gaze not Upon the beauty of another's wife Who serves the holy Saints lovingly" taa kai nikat basai narharee saaDh kee tahal satsang hayt. (Gauri Sukhmani 5th Guru, page 274) These lines of Gurbani became the pillars of Baba Ji's chastity. He did not feel any temptation from desires, in attaining spiritual heights. He believed that the eyes play a major role in making our mind wander outside. Whatever a man sees with his eyes, is received by the mind and under the attraction of materialistic things, the mind then wanders outwardly. The more we try to control this extrovert nature of the mind, the quicker we'll be able to concentrate our mind on meditation. All spiritual achievements are proportional to the concentration of our mind.It is essential that the mind be controlled, by restraining the eyes.

The fact is the benti chaupai is still not completed properly even before getting to Arril. It's only a few lines including Kripa karee.. ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਹਮ ਪਰ ਜਗਮਾਤਾ . Seems some kind of mischief which some colonial era sikhs believed in and added into SGPC rehit maryada! I am pretty sure some groups and jathebandis were allergic to shabad such as Jagmata in colonial times. This is why Benti Chaupai is abruptly ended, without finishing a few more lines. I don't see any respect in this, it is some weird kind of paranoid beadbi.

Is there any [articular reason you decided to get married in India, it's been discussed countless times on this forum, especially about the cultural differences with Punjabi's in India and those of use that are born and bred in other countries, did you try and find a wife from the same country that your from. The only way you'll find resolution is communication, at some point she'll have to hear what your saying, how you communicate is up to you, you will need her parent's to listen to you as well, if they don't listen directly then i'd suggest getting an older family member to do the talking, the last hing any parent wan't (especially in India) is their married daughter being dropped off back in the pind because the marriage did't work. If you want to take the route of making threats, telling her you'll cancel her visa, you'll get married again and god know's what else has been mention then that's up to you fella, in my experience things like that will tend to cause more harm than good. On a side note, i'd love to know how many people who give marital advice here are actually married and understand exactly how much hard work goes into a marriage to make it work, I've been married for over 16 years and we still argue, bicker and fight, it's human nature but we always find a resolution and more importantly know what our boundaries are, we've been through the "making threats" phase, it doesn't work, trust me. It's commendably that you take your laavan seriously, your right, for some people it is just done for show.

I want to share this beautiful chapter from the jeevan of guru nanak dev ji maharaj written by dr.vir singh ji so all can benefit and feel inspired.I definitely recommend everyone to read the full book. There might be grammar errors due to copying and pasting, though I read over it quickly to check. The full read is found here-https://www.vidhia.com/Bhai Veer Singh Ji/Sri Guru Nanak Chamatkar (Part 1)_English-Bhai Vir Singh.pdf 20 Patna - Salis Rai In a desolate place, Guru Nanak is lying down and Mardana sitting by his side, is saying: Beloved Guru, you always say, the Lord is here, there, everywhere. He is the all-pervading Lord. Why can't I see like that? Guru Nanak: Mardana, you see minutely. When we have to see something far away, we concentrate to see properly. In this way, concentrate your mind. When the mind will concentrate, then by the grace of the Lord you will be able to see. Mardana: I do try to concentrate. Even while singing the divine hymns, I see inwardly and feel some concentration. But with due respect to you, Beloved Guru, I do not get the sensation of the Lord. I recite the name also. Now, even while sitting, standing and walking, I recite the name. But you are the Lord's beloved. You are benevolent. You bless me the sensation. Beloved Guru: See, the wise men can judge the redness inside a watermelon. You are intelligent. You see the world with your eyes everyday. Have you ever tried to see inwardly? Do you know that you also have a God given sensation in you? See, everybody talks and sings. Everybody's talking and singing is on a certain musical measure or note. But nobody has a feeling of those measures or notes. Then, how do you have a feeling of the measures or sub-measures or notes? You can just say, this is Gandhar, this is Pancham, that is Ramkali. On which scale do you measure these notes? Which measuring tape do you use? In which mirror do you see them? What testing solutions you put and test them? How do you know that this is the 1st note, this is the 2nd note and so on? You tell. Mardana: 0 master, this happens, since I have been singing for a long time. When I keep on singing and singing and my mind gets some concentration, then, automatically I get the feeling of the musical notes. Guru: Alright Mardana, you automatically know the musical measures and notes. Now, on the rebeck are wires. By putting the fingers, you know this wire will give the 1st note, this wire will give the 2nd note and so on. But when you sing with your throat, then where are the wires in your throat and where do you put your fingers to give the pt note, 2nd note and so on? How, from your throat these tunes and notes come out? Mardana: 0 master, you have said something wonderful. There are really no wires and no fingers in the throat, but still I can sing on any note and tune I wish to. I, really do not understand how the tunes come out? Guru: Well, now you see, you have developed some sensation by which you can take out any note or tune. You do not have any measuring scale. You do not have to do any counting. Automatically with your sensation you get pleasure from your singing and your singing gives ecstasy to others who listen. You tell, do you not have a sensation that you perceive but you cannot tell it to others? Mardana: Yes, you are right. I do have a sensation. Guru: In the same way, by reciting the Lord's name again and again, the name gets into the sub-conscious mind, and then into the heart and then into the body cells. Then you feel the sensation and ecstasy. You see the Lord inside your body and outside in nature, here, there, everywhere. Mardana: 0 master, as I now have a sensation of the musical notes, I wish I could get the sensation of the Lord. You are the Saviour. You bless me with the sensation of the Lord. Now, I understand but what should I do? Guru: Mardana, now it is late at night. You go to sleep now. Tomorrow, you will know, there is an inner sensation that is higher than all sensations. If you are keen to have that, then you recite the Lord's name while sitting, standing, sleeping and walking. It became night and Mardana went to sleep and the Guru got immersed in the meditation of the Lord's name. . II [Vision] In the city, in a crowded locality, one jeweler and his assistant are talking. Adhrika (the assistant): 0 my master, I have spent a good time of my life with you. You have such a large stock of diamonds, gems, pearls, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, topaz, beryl, amethysts and what not. Every day you ,-pen the bundles, you buy these and you sell these and I close the bundles and put them back. But, I cannot judge what is pure and what is artificial and what is of extra-ordinary quality. I do not understand but I do listen to everything. Salis Rai: Adhrika, this is a vision. Itis not arithmetic that you can learn by addition or multiplication. Go on seeing, go on seeing, go on seeing. A time will come when you will get a vision inside you. Then you will be able to judge and smile. Adhrika: Is there no way to learn this skill a'J teachers teach other studies? Salis Rai: Yes, everything is there and you already know. In other studies, the way is outwardly experimenting. Like, you put a white powder on your tongue and it tastes salty, then you know it is salt. This is one way, but what you are asking for, is another way. It is judging inwardly with your mind. Like, a cook puts one kg of lentil in a vessel, then, he measures the water and puts it. Then he weighs the salt and puts it. When it is cooked, it is Alright The second is that a woman puts water in the utensil, then, she puts lentil in it. She sees and says it is Alright Then she puts salt in her palm. She looks at the lentil-water mixture, then, she looks at the salt in her palm, she says Alright and puts the salt in the mixture. When it is cooked, it is fine. Now, how does she know that the salt, water and lentil are properly put? This is the way of the inner vision. Then, there is another way, the way of sensation (In Indian language it is called 'Anubhav') that I have heard only but never experienced. a child, keep up seeing these. Adhrika (heaving a Sigh): Today, by your telling me, something has gone into my mind. By your grace, I should be able to visualize properly. Salis Rai: Go on seeing, go on seeing and go on seeing. At this time a servant came from the shop and said: There is a customer at the shop who appears to be a foreigner and a stranger and is in a hurry to sell something. On listening, Salis Rai himself and his assistant Adhrika came to the shop and started talking to the person sitting atthe shop. . Salis Rai: O.Rich man, welcome to you. From where have you come and what merchandise have you brought to sell? Mardana: I have come from Punjab, where the five rivers flow and I have a red stone. H you can give some money for it, then I shall have food. Salis Rai: Please show.Mardana opened a small purse and he put the five or six gram stone in front of Salis Rai. Salis Rai examined it again and again and got lost in himself and said: Thanks 0 Lord. I adore you. Salis Rai: 0 Adhrika, bring hundred rupees. Salis Rai to Mardana (after putting hundred rupees in front of him): Take the hundred rupees and keep your diamond in your purse.. Mardana: And what for are the hundred rupees? Salis Rai looked towards Mardana and said: This is the price for having a glimpse of this diamond. It appears, this diamond belongs to some jeweler and he has sent you to the city jewelers to have it examined, otherwise, nobody will sell such a diamond. Lucky is the person, who has had a glimpse of such a clear, shining and bright diamond. My mentor had said that when you see such a diamond that gives ecstasy, then you first give something for its glimpse. So far as the price is concerned, it is invaluable. I have only gone by . the advice of my mentor. You take this money. Adhrika: 0 master, please show me this diamond. Salis Rai: 0 child, see. Adhrika got ecstasy on seeing it and said: 0 master, today, even I have got eyes. This is really a very sparkling, radiant and glittering diamond. It is , very clear and flashy. I have never seen such a dazzle, such lustre. It is giving ecstasy. Mardana: Gentleman, when my master gave me this stone, I thought he is making fun. Then, I thought this city is of rich people. Somebody will buy it for his children to play and I shall be able to buy food to fill my tummy. When. I went to the first shop, he said: I can give one radish for it. My children will play for a while. I said, give two. He said, no. Then, I went to a sweetmeat seller. He did not give even one kilogram of sweets. Then, I went to a cloth shop. He said, 'I can give one yard of coarse cloth only'. When I asked for money, he said you go to a gold shop or a diamond shop. Then, I went to a few shops and the price went on increasing. My curiosity increased and I found your shop. Now, you say it is beyond value and you are giving hundred rupees for its glimpse. This, I won't take. Salis: You take this hundred rupees and the diamond to your master. If he is keen to sell, you come back. We shall evaluate it. But as it is, it is invaluable. Mardana: 0 gentleman, I am hungry since last night but my master is not hungry but even he hasn't had food. His order was to sell this and bring food. Salis Rai: You take this. I will send food also. You let me know the address. Don't worry, we are businessmen and your master appears to be a big businessman with an inner vision. He will be happy on what I have said. He won't be angry. Mardana (with a little frown on his forehead): I don't know. He is big for certain, but if he was a businessman, then what was his need to travel places. He could have become rich while sitting at home. (A little loudly) Alright I go. With the hundred rupees and the diamond, Mardana returned where the Guru was sitting. The Guru laughed. Mardana kept the hundred rupees and the diamond· in front of the Guru and said: Here is your magic stone. At some place, it is not worth even two radishes, and at some place, it is invaluable. Guru: This is the position for invaluable things. Where there is insight, they are invaluable. Where there is no insight, then they are of no value. Insight is the prime thing. Somebody who did not have the insight, valued it at one radish and somebody who had the insight, said it is invaluable. The hundred rupees, he has given for his insight. But we have no right to take money without selling anything. You go and return this money to him. Mardana was tired, but he understood that accepting the hundred rupees was not justified and the Guru will not accept it. So, perforce he went back to return the money. III The Guru was sitting under the shaded trees in the love of the Lord, singing His hymns. At this time, Adhrika reached with delicious food. When he listened to the divine music he was dazed. His eyes stopped blinking and he got a deep attraction, and he forgot that he had come to a jeweler. He was beyond himself and he went into ecstasy. 0 When the Guru finished singing, he touched the Guru's feet and with folded hands said: 0 Saviour, forgive me. I had come thinking you to be a jeweler, but you are the Lord's image. You are the Lord's embodiment. There is a sweetness and fragrance corning out of you. 0 Image of the Lord, you have given your glimpse. You have given me ecstasy. You have given me inner vision. Your graciousness should ever remain on me. Mardana returned after giving the money back to the jeweler. The jeweler thought that the person who is not accepting money might not be a jeweler. He must be a Lord's saint. He also came walking along with Mardana. He was also dazed to have a glimpse of the Guru. He also went into ecstasy after having a glimpse of the Guru. Then he alerted himself and came forward and bowed to the Guru. The Guru welcomed him. Then, Salis Rai sat down and with folded hands said: I am delighted to see your diamond. It gives ecstasy. Your glimpse gives ecstasy. He was quiet for some time and then he asked: Can I ask your name, country? Guru: Country is Lord's. Name is 'Of the Lord'. Salis Rai looked at the Guru's handsome face and felt an attraction and said: Can you give me the sensation of the Lord? Guru: Lord is here, there, everywhere. Salis Rai: You can see the Lord everywhere, why can't we see Him? Guru: Listen Salis Rai, the lotus and the scum both are in water. The scum is dirty. The lotus is clean and has sweetness in it that is called nectar. Both are very close to each other but the lotus is un-affected by the scum. The lotus does not become dirty despite its closeness to the scum. Then, the frog also lives in that water. It eats the scum but it does not drink the nectar from the lotus. The frog living in the water close to the lotus has no awareness of the nectar in the lotus, but the black bee comes from a distance and sucks the nectar. Meaning: The frog is so near the lotus but it has no inSight of the lotus. But the black bee has the insight, so it comes from a distance and sucks the nectar. Salis Rai: 0 Godly soul, what is the reason? Guru: Lack of sensation (In Indian language 'Anubhav'). See, the white lotus. It opens up when the moon comes up. It has the sensation that works. It gets the sensation that the moon has come up. As your eyes have got the sensation of judging the diamonds, Mardana has the sensation of the waves of music. Similarly, those who love the Lord, get a godly sensation of the presence of the Lord within the body. On listening to this, Mardana recollected the conversation ofthe first day with the Guru. Similarly, the jeweler recollected the words he had earlier spoken to Adhrika. So, they understood the point well. Salis Rai's respect and love for the Guru increased. He requested the Guru to have food. The Guru had already returned the hundred rupees, saying, we saints do not desire for money, but food, he accepted with love. He and Mardana both had food. Adhrika served food to the Guru with extreme love. The Guru blessed Adhrika with the Lord's name. He got ecstasy. Salis Rai: 0 Godly soul, be gracious to me. Give me the Lord's sensation. Guru: Your assistant has already got the sensation of the Lord. He looked inwardly deeply, and by the grace of the Lord, got the sensation. Listening to this, Salis Rai looked towards his assistant and fell at his feet. When the Guru saw Salis Rai's soft heartedness and humility, then the Guru got up, and the one and a halfmetre turban, he took off from his head, and'tied it on Salis Rai's head, and with a loving glance, blessed him with the sensation of the Lord. • . Meaning: When Salis Rai tied the Guru-given turban on his head, then the veil between him and the Lord vanished and he got the sensation of the Lord. He got ecstasy and rapture. In this way, both were blessed. Now the Guru again said: The inner vision of the jeweler, when lie examines diamonds and the inner sensation of the singer, when he sings or listens to music, is there, but it is within the worldly frame work. But there is another vision 'the vision of the soul'. This is higher than all other visions. This is a sensation of the Lord within your body. This, you have got now. This sensation always remains in your mind. With this sensation, the mind is elevated. It rises above this visible world and goes into wondrousness. The body soul meets the Supreme soul. It crosses all barriers and gets immersed in the Supreme soul. This gives a sensation to the mind and you see the Lord inside yourself and outside everywhere. Then, one does not forget the Lord while seeing the world. One feels the world as a house and the Lord living in it. Then, you feel, o Lord, I adore you. You are limitless. We cannot find your limit. In this way, Salis Rai and Adhrika went home in ecstasy. The Guru stayed here for a few months. There, about three kilometres on the other side of the river Ganga, was a place where a fair was celebrated in the month of October. The Guru stayed here, so that he could guide the people who came to the fair, take them out of their mistaken beliefs and put them on the true path of 'recitation of the Lord's name with love'.Everyday, there was singing of divine hymns and people started loving the Lord. Now, in Patna, many people became Guru-disciples and a holy congregation was formed. The Guru blessed everyone. Now, he wanted to depart. The congregation prayed to the Guru to fix a person who should guide them further. Then, the Guru said: Salis Rai will lead the congregation now and after him, Adhrika. Later in Patna, Fateh Chand Maini who was Salis Rai's heir became the disciple of the tenth Guru. Guru Gobind Singh used to go to his house when he was a child. This place is now called Maini sangat. Adhrika's heirs were the masands ofthe tenth Guru and their children are even now in the service at a Sikh Gurdwara at Patna. This Sikh Gurdwara is the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh. It is called Takht Sahib. Salis Rai was immersed in the Lord's love and he wrote poetry also. By reciting the Lord's name with love, Salis Rai got the sensation of the Lord in his mind, heart and body. Let us also get that sensation. Let us recite: oLord, 0, Lord, 0 Lord, 0 Lord WaheGuru, WaheGuru, WaheGuru, WaheGuru, Starting with at least five minutes a day. Handsome Sweet Beloved I heard you are handsome you are handsome, But without sensation how do I see yOu? I heard you are sensation you are sensation But without Insight how do I feel yOU? I heard you are near you are near But my mind is far away from you You tell me 0 Sweet Beloved How do I feel your ecstasy and hug yOU? A voice replied : Recite Recite Name Name .

Strange how these barbaric and bloodthirsty terrorists had the far-sighted wherewithal to plan their attack according to the above valid assessment of their intended target. I'd imagine seeing the brutality of the NZ attacks would induce the desire for blind revenge on a t1t-for-tat "Western" target. It's almost as if they're acknowledging the fact that attacks on Sri Lankan Christians would cause "less" of an outcry than if they'd walked into a church in leafy Sussex and detonated their explosives. What was stopping them from doing so? Why would these terrorists care about potential blow-back for Muslims in the West when brutal and savage sectarian violence between Islamic sects has been a mainstay of their religious activities for centuries?

We have female parchariks/preachers at our temples as well as women who read the daily Sikh prayers from Guru Granth Sahib ji at our temples. Women can do kirtan which is singing hymns at the temple as well as prepare langar/food in the lagngar hall/community hall. Basically women can everything that men can do.

Gurbani also has a very interesting mention of the number 5, when Sree Guru Ram Das says: ਪੰਚੇ ਸਬਦ ਵਜੇ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਅਨਹਦੁ ਵਜਿਆ ॥ Panchae Sabadh Vajae Math Guramath Vaddabhaagee Anehadh Vajiaa || पंचे सबद वजे मति गुरमति वडभागी अनहदु वजिआ ॥ The Panch Shabad the Five Primal Sounds vibrate with the Wisdom of the Guru's Teachings; by great good fortune, the Unstruck Melody resonates and resounds. well considering this must of happened before Kashmiri Pandits came to visit so Gobind Rai would have been nine or ten Years old , so we really shouldn't be squeamish , I started broaching the subject with Isher Kaur when she was six as she had been groped by another child at school, why leave it to school teachers and schoolmates to tell our kids how to behave? As for other women being too concerned with avoiding the subject as it supposedly sexualising and encouraging girls to go wrong , I can say they 100% wrong , if you approach it gently and put in context of what they want to know about/ age appropriate also ensure that they know if anything is worrying them , is happening they can always back and tell you. Single Dads need to try to instil a sense of being loved and wanted in the daughters so they don't look outside the home for happiness , and give gurmat sikhia , examples of great sikh women to show how great a woman can be if they keep sikh values . If you get such ideas in kids' heads at a young age they keep them in mind later. It help easing the conversations

If our gurus did this over 300 years ago then why aren't we talking about it ...

There are several ways to do Naam Jaap. Saint and Bhagats connect with the almighty by remembering Akal Purakh Wahe Guru. There is no best way to connect with God but useful tips come in handy when a person is just starting out. Bhai Sahib Bhai Vir Singh in his book Gurmukh Sikhiya provides some ways to make it easier to do Naam Jaap. Bhai Vir Singhs helpful advice comes from puratan Singhs whove reached the ultimate stage of Naam Jaap and felt Wahe Guru. 1) Rest is important Bhai Vir Singh recommends getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep everyday. He says if the body is rested only then you can spiritually be healthy enough to connect with Wahe Guru. 2) Healthy Diet Its important to have a simple and healthy diet. He states its important to not eat heavy foods and important to maintain a healthy diet. He recommends preventing constipation with a balanced diet. 3) Kesh Ishnaan twice a week. Bhai Vir Singh states that its very important to wash your hair at least once a week and recommends twice. 4) Satsang One must do Satsang with Sadh Sangat as Guru is always found among the Sangat. 5) Do Naam Jaap with Rasna, positive thoughts Naam simran will automatically start to happen once it gets absorbed in the mind and body. Rhythm and concentration will take it time but continuous sessions of naam jaap will cause it to be consistent and automatic. This is when Naam Maala will become day and night and you will be doing Naam Simran 24/7. 6) Stay away from bad influences Its important to stay away from negative influences and people. 7) Reaching higher stage A person will realize when he/she has reached an out of body stage. Once this stage is reached, its important to be careful when taking a leap into the next stage. To avoid feelings of hunger, its important to eat a good diet. 8) Prevent Imagination from running wild A person must not ponder and stay away from creating unnecessary imagination that can steer person away from Naam Simran. Baba Nand Singh Jees 1st Darshan Of Satguru jee The first time that Baba Nand singh did darshan of satguru nanak from Sri guru granth sahib jee, Baba Jawand singh jee ( rajajansee wale) were also present with Baba jee. They both made a promise that until Satguru Nanak Dev Jee Does not give darshan by becoming pargat from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee and eat the parshaada they had prepared for them, they would not eat anything. This event took place at the Saraghari Gurdwara Sahib. In this manner , for 6 long days they did not eat anything, but prepared parshaada for satguru everyday by doing continuous ardaas at the lotus charan of satguru jee. In such situation , they were on the verge of death , but both mahapursh did not give up , remembering Bhagat Ravidaas Jee’s Bachan ‘ Ehu Janam Tumaare Lekhe.’ Finally Parkash came from Satguru granth sahib and Sri guru nanak dev jee Gave their darshan to both mahapursh. Baba jee offered satguru jee their parshaada and guru sahib ate their food with much happiness and blessed both mahapursh. 1st guru sahib said to Baba jawand singh jee, ask for anything you want. Baba jawand singh ji replied ‘whenever i do keertan, please bless me with your partakh darshan satguru jee!’ Guru sahib Said ok, you will definatley get my darshan , but even those who even listen to your keertan , even they will get darshan. After Baba Jawand Singh jee had asked, it was Baba Nand Singh Jee’s turn. Guru sahib asked them, what do you want? Very humbly, Baba ji replied, ” Sache Paatshah ! i don’t even know how to ask from you ” ( Daas nu mangna nahee aunda!”) Guru Sahib Jee said; Bhai Nand Singh, you must ask for something. Baba jee said – Just do one thing, make me yours! I dont need anything else.’ These were the bachans of Baba ji proving their absolute Piar, Prem, Bhaavna for Guru sahib. When Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji walked up to Baba Nand Singh Ji and hugged them and said, ” You said you didn’t know how to ask for something, but you have just asked for everything” ‘Je tu mera hoe, taa sabh jag tera hoe’ If you are mine, then the whole world will be yours… Dhan Dhan Satguru Nanak Dev jee Dhan Baba Nand singh jee Dhan Baba Jawand singh Jee Baba Isher Singh ji and Baba Nand Singh Ji Baba Isher Singh Jee’s Sewa For Baba Nand Singh gur peeraa(n) kee chaakaree mehaa(n) kararree sukh saar To work for the Guru, or a spiritual teacher, is terribly difficult, but it brings the most excellent peace. Starting Sewa When Baba Isher Singh Jee became Baba Nand Singh jee’s hazuria, he gave up all of lifes ‘sukh’ for Baba jee. As the above tuk mentions , doing that sewa is extremly hard, but brings the best sukh. When Baba Isher singh jee first came into Baba jis charan, the hajurias (personal attendants of Baba Nand Singh Jee.) Were some other older singhs. They saw how Baba Isher Singh ji had alot of piaar for Baba Nanad Singh and would do anthing for them.So whenever Baba Nand singh jee used to go out somewhere , they used to call Baba Isher singh to do all their work for them while they sat around resting and sleeping. Baba Isher singh used to wash all of Baba jee’s clothes, clean all the dishes, sweep everywhere etc. Before Baba Nand Singh came they used to take Baba Isher Singh out and pretend to do the work themselves. Baba Isher Singh jee knew that the old hazurie were up to something, but he thought that if i told Baba Nand Singh jee, it would be doing ‘shikaaet’ (complaint.) In guru ghar it isn’t good to blame and complain about others. One time Baba Nand singh jee went for a walk, and Baba Isher Singh was told to do all the work. When they saw Baba Nand Singh jee walking back they shouted to Baba Isher Singh jee, ‘ run before Baba jee comes back!’ Baba Isher Singh jee was just about to walk out when Baba Nand Singh jee arrived and said ‘ where are you going?’ Baba jee said im going out from here, Baba Nand Singh jee said’ no you will stay.’ Baba Nand singh came inside and layed down on their aasan, and the old hazurieh started doing sewa off massaging Baba ji’s legs etc. He said to Baba Isher singh jee ‘ when i go out, you come in, and when i come in, you go out. Don’t worry about doing complaints, its better just to tell the truth.’ Baba Isher singh jee said your sevadaars call me in to do all the sewa and when they tell me to go out, i go.’ Baba jee said, these people are very bad, they don’t deserve this sewa. From today only you will do this sewa of being my hazuria.’ Baba jee started this sewa with alot of prem and bhaavna, and when they were free of this sewa they used to remain in bhagti. Protecting Baba Nand Singh Jee In Dehradoon one time when Baba Nand Singh Jee were at dehradoon, they were sitting out side doing Tapp. They were sitting in smadhi , in Guru Nanak Dev jee’s charan. all of a sudden there was thunder and it started pouring with hailstones. Baba jee was standing near Baba Nand Singh in their sewa. When the hailstones started, Baba Isher Singh jee stood on rock near Baba Nand Singh jee and bent over so they were covering Baba jee, as all the hailstones were hitting Baba Isher Singh Jee’s back. When Baba Nand Singh jee came out of their smadhi, they saw Baba Isher Singh jee protecting them from the heavy hailstone fall. Baba jee said, whey are standing like this? Baba Isher Singh replied ‘ the hail stones were falling heavily and you were in smadhi, to protect you from the heavy hailstone fall, i had to stand over you.’ Baba Nand singh jee got very happy by hearing then and blessed Baba Isher singh jee saying ‘ that is exactly how a sewadar should be.’ At the Nonee Mountains One time Baba Nand Singh jee went to the Nonee Mountain near shimla. Baba Isher Singh jee went down the mountain to collect some water for Baba jee. When Baba jee started to come up it started to become dark. Being on a mountain while it was very dark, Baba jee forgot the path way to go back up. But when coming down Baba jee had made signs to which way to go up (for example tied pieces of cloth to trees etc.) Slowly they reached to where Baba Nand singh jee had their aasan. At around quater past 12 they helped Baba Nand Singh jee with their ishnan, and now needed to make tea for them. It started raining heavily, Baba ji had no utensils to make the tea in, no fuel, and no sheltered place to make it. They got their garrvaa(small pitcher) and put water in it for the tea. They got Baba jis umbrella and with their hands dug a small hole in the mud. They started a fire in the hole. The small fuel they had was running out so Baba jee took their dastaar off and tearing it used it as fuel for the fire. The whole dastaar has finished, but the tea hadn’t boiled properly yet. Baba jee then took off his chola and used that as fuel. Finally the tea was made and they took it to Baba jee. Baba jee asked how they made the tea in such bad weather and they told them how they used all their clothes to fuel the fire. Baba jee was very happy with them and put their hand on their back. Pinjour baagh When Baba Jee Were coming back from shimla they stayed for sometime at ‘pinjour baagh’ where the Maharaja of Patiala had one of his palaces. It was a three storey building. Baba jee were going up to the third story, when they got to the 2nd storey Baba jee did hukam to Baba Isher singh jee to wait on the second floor for a while. Baba Isher singh jee replied ‘satbachan’ and stood against the wall. NO parshada, no water, no sleep, for THREE days Baba Isher Singh jee stood in this way against the wall. On the third day Baba Nand Singh Jee Asked the other sewadars ‘ where is ishar sia?’ the sewadaars said Isher singh is still standing in the stairs. They said we thought you told him to stay there. Baba Nand singh jee said , O fools! i only asked them to stay there for a little while before i came back down, but he is my true sewadaar who has followed my bachan without any question! Baba jee themselves went to the 2nd floor and saw that Baba Isher singh jee were standing at the same spot they had left them. Baba jee went up to them and embraced them, and told them to do ishnan paani and eat something etc. All the other sewadaars were amazed how Baba Isher singh jee followed Baba Nand singh jee’s bachan in such a way, without any question. The sakhee of Baba jee’s cholaa One time, before divaan at jagraaon, Baba Nand Singh Jee did bachan to Baba Isher singh jee to bring a new unworn cholaa to wear into diwaan. Baba Isher singh jee went inside and brought a new unworn cholaa for Baba jee. Baba jee put it on but noticed it had no buttons. Baba jee took it off and said there is no button on this, go inside and look for another chola.. Baba Isher singh jee came back after a few minutes with the same cholaa in his hands. Baba Nand Singh jee said, this had no buttons, quickly go inside and look. Baba Isher Singh Jee went inside but came back with the same cholaa again. Baba Nand Singh Jee got angry and said to Baba Isher Singh jee, why do you keep doing this? You keep bringing the same cholaa over and over again without any buttons. Some other older sangis (companions) were also there, in which Sant Baba Meeha Singh Jee Siaar wale were also present. The older sangis said to Baba Isher Singh, what are you doing, on one side you say that Baba Nand Singh jee Is God, on the other hand your not even listening to their bachan. Baba Isher singh Said in relpy, Stop talking like this, I am definately follwing Baba jee’s Bachan. The tailor forgot to put buttons on the chola, and i have no needle , thread or button, how and where will i put the button on? It is also Baba jee’s bachan that under no circumstances can we ask things from any one outside. Now tell me what can i do? When Baba jee does bachan, go inside and look, i then do go inside and look for it but i have to bring the same one back again. When Baba jee gives hukam to get buttons for the cholaa then i will be able to go to the tailor and get that done. Baba Nand Singh Jee got very happy with Baba Isher singh and took the chola off him and put it on. Baba jee did bachan , this boy is steadfast in following Hukam. He has passed all tests and has undertaken and understood maryada very well.’ Doing Sewa So in this way Baba Isher Singh Jee left all worldly pleasures and did Baba Nand Singh Jee’s Sewa. For three four hours they used to put almond oil in Baba Nand Singh Jee’s sees, for two three hours do massage of Baba Jee’s Body, Wash Baba Nand Singh Jee’s clothes, Do their Ishnaan, Make their parshada and give it to them. In 24 hours Baba jee didn’t used to talk. Without any stop or break they used to be in Baba Nand Singh Jee’s sewa. At that time Baba Isher Singh Jee had his Nitnem and Sukhmani sahib ‘Kanth’ (memorised) and used to do paat of many other bania at amritvela. During the day Baba jee used to read sri sukhmani sahib. Without reason they didn’t talk , and just read bani while doing sewa. Due to very busy schedule Babaji was always barefooted, he had little time for himself. His heels used to get cracks and often small stones got stuck up in them. This was the avastha of Baba Isher singh jee, with their mind doing simran and their body doing sewa, just as Guru Sahib Says, man bach kram prabh eaek dhhiaaeae One who meditates on the One God in thought, word and deed sarab falaa soee jan paaeae 6 that humble being receives the fruits of all rewards. 6 http://sikhunity.wordpress.com/2013/10/21/baba-nand-singh-jees-1st-darshan-of-satguru-jee/

lolol you tell us just an example of how mahapurkhs bachans come true 28 August 1991 , Dusht Nang Ajit Poohla burnt alive four members of Bhai Balwinder Singh Babbar Jatana's Family. before this, Poohla had killed 6 innocent family members including kids as little as 7 months old of family of Bhai Joga Singh Khanpur. Baba Thakur Singh Ji Khalsa came for Saskaar of Bibiya who were burnt by Poohla and In a state of sadness, seeing dead bodies of Bibiya and kids, Babaji did bachan, ''Poohla vi jeeonda sarhega'' (Poohla will also be burnt alive). Exactly 17 years after that bachan, on 28th August 2008, Dusht Poohla was burnt alive in Amritsar Jail by Bhai Navtej Singh-Bhai Harchand Singh upholding Panthic tradition of punishing Dushts who killed innocents. Sadhu ke pooran updesay
