fateh jio as per my knowledge, when a new baby is born, sikh families invite a paati sahib from the local gurughar. he takes a bowl and put some pani and patasey in it and stir it with his small kirpan while reciting shri japji sahib ji. he does on japji sahib and anand sahib ji and ardaas, and gives that amrit da chulaa to the baby and the whole family. this is the first stage by which we thanks to guru ji for the baby blessings and we welcome the baby in the sikh family. this is different to the second and the most biggest stage in life when that individual takes the amrit from panj piyare in the presence of the shri guru granth sahib ji. at this stage, that individual makes certain promisses to the guru ji and is committed to follow guru ji's paath. ofcourse all this is only possible with the true guru ji;s kirpa. hope this explains. bhuk chuk maaf karni :WW: gujj ke balaawo waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh

fateh ji guru kirpan karrn, as per das di sojhi.... a place of worship where sangat get together to do naam japp is called dera. "Dera: suffix meaning (Buddhist) temple." coming back to ur question, are Karamsar and Nanaksar are so called deras? The answer would be YES. i personally dont know much about Karamsar, so wont be talking about it, but about nanaksar, i used to go on regular basis and still go sometimes. Another thing comes that what make dera different to a gurughar or gurudwara sahib. As a sikh, we have some rehat mariyada to follow and we want our gurdwaras to follow and teach this rehat mariaya to the sangat. those gurughar do this, we have no problem with them, on top of this, if that have something else addedd to it (e.g. at nanaksar, they only wear kurta and kachera.... we have no problem, they wear white gol turban.... we have no problem etc.).... dera jhutha sauda didnt do anything thats permitted in sikhism, hence it makes it really stand out and we wont have any dera associated to sikhi who claims to be part of it but do not do what sikhi or rehat mariyada says.
