  1. sarbat khalsa must represent worldwide sikh groups. Would be pointless without major jathe from india (so I wont vote). Where it happens isn't important. But by default it probably must have to be punjab. I would like to see some info on format/protocols of historical sarbat khalse meetings. Totally a dream that will never happen in my life but it would be good if a large council chamber could be built in amritsar/anandpur to hold this Annually.
  2. I honestly think its better for foreign sikhs to spend more energy fighting for a sarbat khalsa to select its leadership then begging for justice from those in bed with the terrorist indian state. It will happen but its question of how much we will have lost before getting our own leaders in place.
  3. The responsibility of ownership would be surrendered to central govt and not world heritage association/un. There can be no compromise; upkeep and ownership must rest with guru sahibs niara panth.
  4. Sgpc is a puppet organisation that answer to the badal family. Badals only religion is capitalism, if it made $'s for badal they will surrender the harimandir as they once did when the govt attacked in 84. Every sikh should be aware of the plot to kill sikh sovereignty so they become subservient to the govt instead of akaal purakh. How parkash chand has dodged a bullet fired in revenge beats me.. (sorry for going off topic)
  5. The petition will not make any difference to indian govt but maybe taken seriously by the world heritage organisation. It also highlights and publicises another trespass by india on sikh sovereignty. It will help wake up some ignorant souls. Keep sharing it!
  6. All correct, but we didn't need another version by somebody who has openly said he has no deep insight in sikh ithaas.Your arguments are shortsighted. U are quick to say the kaum is already fragmented.. why cause more controversy by creating a film without properly tackling the sensitive issues with proper due diligence. Thr film could have gone ahead had sikka took notice of sentiments of the majority the kaum and accepted versions of sakhia. I and others have already pointed deviation from historical facts that cant b disputed but sikka got wrong because his carelessnesd/motives. Fateh.
  7. I havent seen the film and having seen the inaccuracies in trailers and the depiction of guru ji and family i have no intention to. concerns about the film that ive witnessed or heard in various reviews: historical characters such as bibi nanaki and bhai mardana are not being presented as gursikhs (did bibi nanaki used to pluck her eye-brows?). Aarti scene was wrong in many aspects i.e. whats with bollywood type scene with swaying and dancing, never heard that version before? The arti shabad sung by guru ji wasnt just a continuation of the arti inside the temple but this time under stars and sky. Again whats with the fairy tale like ik onkar appearing in the sky.. made the whole event look fairytale like and not a matter of fact event as described in janamsakhis. naam khumari episode actually happened with babur and not daulat khan... The film was obviously not researched properly, and the producers didn't do himself favours by saying it was okayed by scholars and gursikhs when it obviously wasnt. The "sikh" politicians and industry insiders don't qualify! What really riled me is sikkas arrogance and naivety in calling their 'gursikh' brothers and sisters an extremist minority because they had issue with a issue close to their hearts, this has made me question his motives for repeating the antisikh propaganda of the terrorist indian govt and media. And then to try win cheap points by claiming sikhs are behaving like guru nanaks story is their personal property. The chaar sahibzaade producers reportedly had over 90 meeting's with sgpc or their reccomended gursikhs (im not endorsing chaar sahibzaade), and this guy came back to them with the completed article.. issues due to his lack of consultation and rhetoric since releasing were inevitable. The saakhia must stay original and only the historically accepted narrative can be put out in the public domain... then the issue of depiction must be treaded carefully with advice from the relevant sources not a producers own imagination!
  8. I wouldn't vote any of top 3 unless they publicly support our justice against genocide campaign....they are making Sikhs look fickle by winning support via cheap publicity stunts.
  9. Nail on head Better not vote or protest vote by backing a neutral then back those that stand against gurmat or justice.
  10. Its not often I disagree with you veerji, and for the most part I agree with your points above.But... There is no credible proof that the painting in question was an actual portrait of dhan guru tegh bahadar.. Just another 'sakhi' that seems inconsistent with the fact the other 9 human forms of the guru not leaving a pictorial image of themselves ..quite deliberately it seems.
  11. The gurus went out of their way to ensure their human images were not represented, no images of them surfaced until at least a hundred+ years after they had left their human forms. Guru's truth is eternal, for those that say times have changed so lets move with them - how dare u challenge a lesson left to us by the guru. And yes hanging false pictures of the gurus human form is also pointless - 2 wrongs dont make a right!
  12. Ive written to all main cinemas that show desi flicks in Midlands to boycott, even dropped in mention that there could be violence from some quarters if shown. Also written to sikh council to release a statement condemning it and to encourage uk cinemas not to show. Get on it singho.. this film could set a bad precedent!
  13. The time for a Arab spring/coup of sgpc and Sikh gurdware is coming... We need to invest in awakening the youth in Punjab.
  14. The film obviously has his historic inaccuracies.. But I feel the overall impact could positive if a couple actions are taken: - remove any side shots of the actor playing maharaj - use more "CGI" to cover maharajs face - have the whole film audited by vidvaans to point out then remove any other significant issues - an apology from the producer for labelling the institutions raising concerns as extremist's I would ask all to go on you tube/Facebook and dislike all videos and protest. If he doesn't make a u-turn he needs some shittar for bringing the kaum into disrepute!!!!
  15. "Respect to Griffin?" Thats up there with the most ridiculous comments I've read on here.
  16. How can anyone saying we need to pull out of eu be taken seriously? Do you have any idea what impact the added duty and red tape around movement of goods into and from eu would mean for industry in this country if uk pull out of eu? Reform of eu for greater autonomy is the ideal, current status quo second best, but to consider leaving is complete stupidity. Ukip policies are comical and farages views abhorrent. Unfortunately there is little choice at this (or any) election, especially for a sarbat da bhalla wale kaum.. luckily we have a good singh in my area running for an independent party who would support local issues and causes in line with Sikhmat.
  17. In light of farages dispicable comments on the political leaders tv debate regarding hiv treatment fees for foreigners; I hope nobody that calls themselves a guru ka sikh is considering voting for ukip. A sikh should be for such humanitarian/charitable acts not against, whatever the cost in £'s. And if you are still voting for farage - shame on u!!
  18. Is there any actual confirmation of why it happened and who was involved? (Not just hearsay on the ever reliable 'Facebook')A lot assumptions been made, they may well be correct.. or not. Sikh feds response is both the most and reasonable and responsible that ive heard yet.
  19. Imo Basics of sikhI have greater vision, drive, ambition and integrity then most other groups. He represents the sentiment of a far greater portion of western youth then any other group I know of. Basics of sikhi are the only sikh parchar organisation that has my faith and support. I don't know how many donors they have but it certainly isn't enough imo!
  20. Nobody has made any comments about not sharing gurbani or guru jis teachings.. In fact the posts u seem to be referring to are against celebrating the birth of khalsa via a bhangra display.. the message of the gurus have watered down enough amongst our own by mixing with the ever liberalising punjabi culture.. dont u think its better to share the message of the gurus exlusively rather then mixing with a dance to a song about a 'soni kuri/patiala peg/fake kharku' or whatever bhangra track is rocking on britasia nowadays. You've gone off on a bit of a tangent there.
  21. Would be interesting to know what the salaries of the sgpc 'jathedars' over the last 10 years have been? And another graph showing land/wealth increase for them during the same period..
  22. Those girls are our sisters and daughters.. its the job of a responsible brother and father to encourage decency and gursikh values. Beautiful clothes are fine just as long as they are decent! The comment above is completely naive. the job of the gurdwara is to guide us towards liberation of the soul by removing the veil of falsehood that is this world.. Its not the gurdwaras job to facilitate a nice looking event in a society that is increasingly confusing the direction of its moral compass.
  23. No gurdwara put this together.. it has been pushed as a pr exercise by London city.Only way to 'celebrate' or remember the birth of the khalsa us in the hazoori of guru maharaj where there is no place for 'folk dancing'. I hope much of the stage time and focus from the sikh co-organisers is to push our political demands! I would be extremely disappointed if London plc walk away from the event thinking they are back in the sikhs good books. Singho dont be mugs! Use the platform effectively!
