  1. WJKK WJKF - Nice one - thanks a lot Aman veerji - certainly brings back loads of good memories of the Summer '04. Keep up the good work. WJKK WJKF.
  2. Sandeep Singh Ji - WJKK WJKF. Yeah it's a real course, but all you have to do is enrol. You then get sent a password & then all you have to do is make sure you download each weeks lesson. Then you sit an exam at the end of the course. That's it - not very formal at all, but well worth taking part. WJKK WJKF.
  3. Dear Cyber Sangat Jio - Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh Seriously, get yourselves enrolled on this course - the Sukhmani Sahib course which was run from May - Oct 2004, was excellent, and I can safely say that I learned more about Sikhi in that course in 6 months, than in years of study. If you know what's good for you enrol now. It starts TODAY & it's Free (but DO try & donate, as the cost of the whole thing, building, computers etc is being met personally by Singh Sahib Prof Darshan Singh Ji). Happy Studying. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh

  5. Dear Charanpreet Veerji - WJKK WJKF - I think you're right - Guru Arjan Dev Ji was Shaheed in 1606, and the date has been fixed according to Nanakshahi to be on the 16th June every year I think. So it should be the same in 2006 - 400th anniversary. Next quessy - when's the Atam Ras audio & DVDs due ?? You're probably still recovering from the excellent progs in August. Take it easy. WJKK WJKF.
  6. Dear All - WJKK WJKF - Aman veerji - thanks for pointing that out - I'll be more careful in the future. And thanks for all of the responses - so some say there is one salok, and others aren't sure. Either way I suppose the meaning & understanding of the gurbani is the main thing. WJKK WJKF.
  7. Dear All - WJKK WJKF. I was told recently that there is some of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's bani in the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Does anyone know which page it is on, and what the bani is ?? Thanks. WJKK WJKF.
  8. Dear KhalsaSingh Veerji - firstly lakh lakh vadhiya on Maharaja's 400th prakash. I've been lucky enough to attend 8 of the Atam Ras keertans to date - So I'm going to try to answer your questions based on what I've been to & seen so far and hopefully put an end to this post :- 1) there will be no ridiculously bright flash distracting both the kirtanee and sangat as a whole or individually when sevadar points to specific individuals This has not been a problem at any of the Atam Ras events to date. The main empahasis has been on the sangat enjoying the programmes. 2) there will be no extreem zoomins to the point i can see up each and ever individuals nose Nope didn't see this either. 3) the gurdwara sound system will be upgraded or some other sound system will be used so that the sound will be good Both Nanaksar Walsall Pleck & Chapel Town Leeds had brand new sound systems so yeah, the sound has been good everywhere so far, and it was excellent in the park. 4) the sevadar will not be up and down every 2 secs showing his rear consantly either to sangat or guroo sahib The ETC camera men set their cameras up, and then sat down - there was no constant moving around or anything. 5)Is this program based on whos coming i.e. all the various famous sants etc....?? (note its gonna be hard for u to say no given the way its been promoted but lets see) Erm - the programs appear to have been organised to get as many people as possible to celebrate the 400th prakash of our Guru Sahib over the month of Aug/Sept. The organisers have organised the event. Whether or not the sangat turns up is not in their control. But if th e sangat does turn up in large numbers, then that is obviously a good thing. If the sangat do turn up in large numbers due to what you call 'fanism' you can't have a go at the organisers for that - I'm afraid you're going to have to have a go at the sangat themselves. Try and make it to one of the events, I'm sure you'd enjoy it.
  9. Dear Sadh Sangat - WJKK WJKF - Baba Maan Singh will be at the Sikh Temple, Chapel Town Rd Leeds - tonight - Tues 31st Aug, and tomorrow Wed 1st Sept, 7-9pm. Excellent turn out last week for the Atam Ras Keertan's by the way. WJKK WJKF

  16. WJKK WJKF - dunno if any of you have seen this before .................. The Four Wives There was a rich merchant who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most. He adorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best. He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He's very proud of her and always wanted to show her off to his friends. However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might run away with some other men. He too, loved his 2nd wife. She is a very considerate person, always patient and in fact is the merchant's confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems, he always turned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times. Now, the merchant's 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her. One day, the merchant fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, "Now I have 4 wives with me. But when I die, I'll be alone. How lonely I'll be!" Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I loved you most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No way!" replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word. The answer cut like a sharp knife right into the merchant's heart. The sad merchant then asked the 3rd wife, "I have loved you so much for al l my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No!" replied the 3rd wife. "Life is so good here! I'm going to remarry when you die!" The merchant's heart sank and turned cold. He then asked the 2nd wife, "I always turned to you for help and you've always helped me out. Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!" replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only send you to your grave." The answer came like a bolt of thunder and the merchant was devastated. Then a voice called out: "I'll leave with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go." The merchant looked up and there was his first wife. She was so skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition. Greatly grieved, the merchant said, "I should have taken much better care of you while I could have !" Actually we all have 4 wives in our lives,.. The 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it'll leave us when we die. Our 3rd wife, is our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go to others. The 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they had been there for us when we're alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave. The 1st wife is in fact our soul. Often neglected in our pursuit of material wealth and sensual pleasure. It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go......... WJKK WJKF.
  17. Dear All - WJKK WJKF No controversies please. Just want the original Gurmukhi if anyone has it or has seen it. Thanks, WJKK WJKF.
  18. Dear All - WJKK WJKF. Just found this on www.sikhpoint.com Just wondered if anyone has a copy of this in Gurmukhi ?? Or could someone let me know of a book that I could get a copy in. (the English Translation from www.sikhpoint.com is given below):- Thanks, WJKK WJKF SRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI’S ‘HUKAM NAMA’ FOR THE SANGAT OF KABUL (Jeth 26, Sammat 1756 Bikrami) June 1699 A.D. Translation of the above. (Note: The word Kabal (as used by Guru Sahib) is also translated as meaning steadfast or capable. Which means that this Hukam Nama, which has been authenticated, could be for all Sikh sangats which aspire to belong to the Guru). Ik Oangkar, Satgur Ji Sehaye The Guru will be your support for ever. I am much pleased with you. You must take baptism of the sword from the ‘five’. Keep your hair (Kesh) uncut - this is the seal of the Guru. Never be complacent about the shorts (Kachera) and the dagger (Kirpan). Always wear on your wrist a steel bracelet (Kara). Look after your hair and comb (Kanga) it twice a day. You are never to take meat prepared from animals killed by being bled slowly. Never use tobacco. Never have any connection whatsoever with those who kill baby girls or celebrate the cutting of children’s hair. Do not ever sit in the company of secretive and corrupt priests. Always read and recite the hymns of the Guru. Meditate on the name of the wonderful Lord-God alone. Obey the code as the Guru has instructed. The entire sangat has my blessing. This Hukm Nama forms the basis of the Rehat Maryada (Code of Conduct) passed at the Akal Takhat in 1941.

  20. Dear all - WJKK WJKF. While doing paat last night, I noticed that on page 44 of Maharaj, Siree raag is writtan in two differant ways - http://www.sikhitothemax.com/Page.asp?Sour...eID=G&PageNo=44 before the line :- sabhae thhok paraapathae jae aavai eik hathh || it's writtan one way, and before the line :- soee dhhiaaeeai jeearrae sir saahaa(n) paathisaahu || It's writtan another way. Both banis are writtan by Gur Arjan Dev Ji. Does it still signify the same raag ?? Thanks in advance, WJKK WJKF.
