  1. This has worked out better for me whenever I have made Degh. Please note that the measurement is by weight and not by volume. In which case if we are using a sarbloh bata then use: 80% of volume of bata for desi ghio - one portion 100% of volume of bata for wholemeal atta- one portion 110% of volume of bata for brown sugar- one portion 100% of volume of bata for water- three portions Put water in separate Sarbloh Karahi on boil and add sugar, once boiled leave to simmer, don't switch off gas. Meanwhile in another Sarbloh Karahi put ghio and wait a little till it all melts and warms up, do not heat too much put on medium/low setting. Add wholemeal atta and keep stirring whilst reciting bani all the time. Once this mix turns slightly brown and crisp biscuity smell starts to emanate, switch of gas on the water side and add the water /sugar mix slowly. Be careful of the steam, add bata by bata and keep stirring all the time until all of the syrup has been mixed. Make sure the heat setting is quite low just before you add the syrup mix. Keep mising until all is blended in well and a little bit of ghio starts showing up. Switch off gas and keep mixing for another three to five mins. Serve degh only when it has cooled down and can be handled easily. The degh should not be slurpy (too much water) or crumbly (too little water). Do Ardas for galtia in preparing degh and reciting bani and for the sewa. GuruSahib is always forgiving. Enjoy the degh!!!
  2. what is the point of putting this link up just to slate other Gursikhs? whats the point again?? can admin get rid of this post please?????
  3. What is the state of sikh socs when manmat people like these are even allowed to give their opinions in the name of parchar? Are there no decent speakers who follow or try to follow Gurmat to the best of their ability, available to give talks? I'm sorry but having listened to what this sodi chap has to say......be careful not to be in same boat as a captain who's hell bent on sinking his own ship.....and we certainly hope no town has lost their favorite local clown.
  4. where are you based? I could make one for you.
  5. one does not have to influence others in a correct or incorrect way to become famous/influential. Even Hitler was very influential and so was Mother Teresa. Guru Sahibs Truth influences those who truly seek it.
  6. Please note that the Aug 7th Rhensabai in Southall Park Avenue will also be commemorating the Shaheedi of Jathedhar Bhai Sukdev Singh Ji Babbar. Taken from Tapoban.org site: Bhai Sukhdev Singh's Relationship With Sant Jarnail Singh Since 1980, the Indian Security Forces had come to know of a youth called Sukhdev Singh, and had began to hunt him. So Bhai Sahib permanently shifted all command operations to Siri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. It was here that stayed from 1980 till 1984. Babbar Khalsa had come into existence here. Sant Jarnail Singh had established the Dharam Yudh Morcha. Bhai Sahib fully supported this movement. He also wished all the youth of Punjab to leave intoxicants and become Sikhs of the Guru. Sant Jarnail Singh ji was also a highly spiritual and visionary Gursikh. He knew since the Shaheedi of Jathedar Fauja Singh, that hard times would fall on Sikhs and they needed to become Shahsterdhari (armed). He also knew anti-Panthik forces would do everything to divide the Sikh Youth to ensure that Sikh demands are not met. The Sikh youth who were brave and full of spirit were in two Jathebandies; - Damdami Taksal and Akhand Kirtani Jatha. During the early 1980s, a meeting occurred between Sant Jarnail Singh ji and Bhai Joginder Singh Talwara. Bhai Amolak Singh was also sent to represent the youth as no organisation had formed at the time of this meeting. In this meeting it was agreed that no issues that divided these two groups would ever be allowed stop the common cause of the Sikh Nation. Later as Babbar Khalsa came into existence, Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale held them in high respect, and they are often mentioned in his lectures. Names like Bhai Kulwant Singh Nagoke, Bhai Manjit Singh Babbar are mentioned frequently. Sant Bhindranwale Before Courting Arrest Meeting in Jail When Sant Jarnail Singh ji was in prison after being arrested in Chowk Metha, it was national news. Bhai Sukhdev Singh and Bhai Wadhava Singh walked into the police station armed with guns. The police realising who had just walked in, ran for their lives. Bhai Sukhdev Singh asked Sant ji to come with them and continue his Parchaar. Sant Jarnail Singh ji said he appreciated their courage, but has no need to go underground. Sant ji said his release had already been arranged legitimately. Sant Ji respected the way Bhai Sukhdev Singh had quickly dealt with the Nirankaris "7 Sitarees" (their equivalent to our Punj pyares). Also how he had planned how Bhai Ranjit Singh would infiltrate Nirankari Baba Gurbachana house, and numerous other high profile actions. Sacha Sukha (Truthful Sukha) During 1983-84, the security services tried to divided the Singhs. It had been the wish of the security services that Sikh youth fight amongst themselves, creating enemies, and opportunities which could be used to gather information from rivals, and start them eliminating each other. Some infiltrators dressed up as Singhs and robbed a Hindu mans store in Amritsar. They told him to leave Punjab or he will be killed. They pretended to be Sant Bhindranwales men. The distraught hindu shop keeper went to Darbaar sahib, and was told by sangat to see Bhai Sukhdev Singh, who was based at Baba Atal Sahib Gurdwara. Bhai Sukhdev Singh was upset that people are doing this is Gursikhi Baana (clothes), as it gives Gursikhs a bad name. When the Babbar Khalsa Singhs located these infiltrators, Bhai Sukhdev Singh got a laathi, ( a long Danda- wooden stick), tied them upside down from a tree and beat them with it. He made them give all the money back, and told them never to threaten any innocent again. Other infiltrators tried to stoke up the Taksali Singhs against Babbars saying Sukhdev Singh had beat up these Singhs. Many rumours were circulated to get one group against another. Some of these rumours later even got published in books, to ferment differences between the groups. But Sant Ji knew this was not correct, and instead started refering to Jathedar Sukhdev Singh ji as "Saccha Sukha", (The Truthful Sukha). Both Sant Ji and Bhai Sahib knew their fight was not against innocents. Sant ji, too was called in press as a Hindu hater, but facts show he was highly respected by many Hindus. The fight was only against those who choose to destroy Sikhism. Even today, in books written about the Operation BlueStar refer to differences between the two leaders, which are baseless. Sant Logowal and Gurcharan Singh Tohra, both key Akali leaders at that time also sought to divide Sukhdev Singh and Sant ji. They were afraid of the growing prominence of Sant ji and the amount of youth with him. The only person capable of standing against him, who also had a lot of youth with him was Bhai Sahib. So these leaders also indulged in rumour mongering to divide the two Gurmukhs, and associated themselves with the Babbars. Bhai Sahib realised these forces that were at work and so did Sant ji. Both shared a mutual respect and their common cause. However no differences directly arose between the two Gursikhs, despite the attempts of many. Both fought together at Operation Blue Star, as the story continues………
  7. akj uk doing an amrit sanchar at park avenue, southall on 7th august during rhensabai kirtan night.
  8. You are doing good sewa here, but could we request an individual line by line translation so we can discern for ourselves the flow of these writings?? Thanks.
  9. Matheen, I could be mistaken but Guru Nanak Dev Ji searched a vast area for a sant/mahapurush but could not find one yet now all of a sudden, in the last 20-30 years we have hundreds lined up?? I think the maths just don't add up, unless GuruJi was looking at the wrong place, why didn't He try Punjab??? But I agree as well in that if there are sants/ mahapurukhs then we are all collectively that (sadh sangat), but yeah do educate us more....
  10. I am still willing to do this seva Serious Gupt.....I hope you are also serious.
  11. My advice: stop going to weddings on weekends and listening to others chatting.
  12. that which connects us to Waheguru, Akal Purakh via Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Dasam Granth writings, Bhai Gurdas Varan = Gurbani that which teaches us about our physical life here in this world via other writings in Dasam Granth , rehtnameh = Gurugyan I have only met three- Bhramgyani and Sant, GuruGranth Sahib ji, Panj Pyare in Presence of Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj (and not just 5 singhs anywhere) and lastly Khalsa Panth, Khalsa mera roop heh khaas ( rehitvaan gursikhs , sad sangat and not just sangat) hope that helps, no fighting please, lack of bir ras in me, please.
  13. None, everyday is a blessing for a Sikh. Routing our lives around the comings and goings of the moon is akin to idol worship, Bhaman ritualism or iSlamic disconformity. The punjabi culture is too submerged in the duality of worship.
  14. Oh, what would the puratan babae know about bhramgyaan or santhood like the latest models know?? how dare you compare Baba Budha Ji a none entity, just a booda, old guy to the latest version of santships like dhumma or ranj, or even snoop. These guys are the WinDoss EXPee not the old Commodore 1699 types who knew nothing. The fact is as long as we have anyone labelled with a Tag (rhymes with Wag) of sant or bhramgyaaani then the likes of Asshootush and GRR (Gromet Rhyme Rim) will also exist on a similar platform. Remove the platform and they all fall. Personally I have no squabble with none of the Guru's despite them not naming anyone else a bhramgyani or sant, and yes that includes their very own special sons (Sahibzade!!) and great followers.....like, what was His name...Bhai Lehna.....Bhai???? You see, obviously Guru Nanak Dev ji had too much nimarta to even call Him anything more than a Bhai...Bhai Lehna....why not name him Sant Bhramgyani Baba Lehna Ji up until the time He got given the Guruship??? But what can numskulls like myself do other than flog myself waiting for the promised return of a fellow Bhai...oops sorry Sant Bhramgyani who did an ardas and was so true to His words that he would never be a prisoner of conscience. I wonder what his conscience feels while we twiddle our fingers waiting. Unless ofcourse we were lied to, which just throws the whole of the latest WinDoSS EXPee lot in disarray. What Medusa is it now? The leadership of a three headed snake? Dhumma, Ram and anonyMouse? Is this house in order? Feels like a great big nasty stain on the great leader of the 1984 era. I am sure those who beat their brows and chests equally emulate the impeccable character of the One who never entertained himself being called a Sant or Bhramgyaani. We tagged him.....and so did a long list of others. Anyone care to draw up an analysis chart of the number of sants known in the sikh panth (no not the gupt real practising ones, but those that called themselves Sant in public or accepted being called that) starting from 1699?? Here is an amateur attempt: 1699 - 1 (plus 1=5) 1708 - 1 1709 - 1 1799 - 1 1848 - 1 1914 - 1 1948 - 1 1984 - 1 1985 - 4 (1 Awol) 1985 and a half- 150 (1 Awol) present - over 1000 and counting(1 still Awol) Just where did it hit us that we were not spotting these individuals before?? Or are we becoming so desperate that we cannot acknowledge The One and Only Sant, Guru Granth Sahib Ji. (Notice how cheekily I did not include any other Guroo Granths, innit??) The truth of the matter is that we are all collectively sants. Lineage holds no water. It will not be long before we start tracing our roots back to Baba Deep Singh Ji ( ha, another ordinary head giving simpleton, couldn't even garner enough votes to earn a Santship or Bhramgyaanihood)..... and laying claim that our faction is the authentic version of Sikhi (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane?). If that is the case then I am sure there are existing the offspring of the sons of Guru Nanak Dev Ji who can easily lay claim to an inherited Guruship. You see it does not even matter who the father is. What matters is upholding the same values and practising those principles in life. We don't just remember the 4 Sahibzade because of their lineage but more so because of the steadfastness of principle they held till their last breath, a virtue implanted in them by their Great Father, our Father Guru Gobind Singh Ji. It is Our Great Father who passed on the Jot, the Living Divine Spirit to our Eternal Guru, Guru Granth Sahib Ji. We blemish this Sacred Entity when we bestow an equal relationship to any other person, granth or thing. There is no question that Our Great Father was a literary genius and magnificent poet. He could have easily incorporated His writings in The Eternal Guru Granth Sahib ji, but He chose not to. There must be a reason Guruji had. Not everything Guru Sahib wrote is GurBani, Dhoor ki Bani. Some is GurGyan, knowledge to help us understand things better about life. I am certain there must have been letters etc to others too, which are not Gurbani, but something that GuruJi wrote. There was no other greater Babbar Sher at that time than Guru Nanak Dev ji, years before any so called shakti giving granth existed. He went where some would dare not tread, one wonders then where the Bir Ras came from? It is only a mediocre mind that gets an adrenaline rush purely from thinking that only a certain granth holds the shakti of bir ras. Perhaps it even goes to prove that the person saying that has truly not done khoj of Gurbani well enough. I am from that group too, don't worry, but I have full Faith that my Guru is Poora, Complete, without any needs or wants but with complete Spiritual and Physical Power giving abilities. To that I give my head.
  15. No he has not and I think Puraatan has no Panthic favour other than to incite dislike/hatred towards other people. Obviously his stance is similar to the moderators of this forum hence his posts being allowed whereas anyone who posts something logical falls out of preference with the mods. The conclusion is probably that the mahants rule the website too????? Prove us wrong modhants?
  16. Fundamental -forming a necessary base or core;of central importance. Perhaps we need to understand the deeper meaning of some words before we throw them around. There is nothing wrong in being fundamental, I believe God is fundamental i.e. of central importance.
  17. Just as the fire needs fuel to burn so does Naam Japna need Gurbani, these can never be seperated. The fuel on its own will serve no purpose if it's the fire/heat we are looking for. Similarly the fire cannot ignite on its own. By doing Naam Jap we light our little jot inside ourselves and only then can we light other jots, just like from one candle to another. But to keep the light burning we must have Gurbani as the fuel. And to those who think Naam Japna is the easy way out, think again. As the mind jumps from one thought to another like a restless monkey, Gurbani written in the original format as The Guru did in laareevar form, brings the monkey to check. (Lareevar especially because of the concentration required to read Gurbani). Naam Japna is not braminical chanting , it is what The Guru repeatedly asks us to do. If God is extremely good, extremely wonderful, extremely loving, does that make me an extremist for wanting to emulate those characteristics???? Bhai Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale did alot of sewa backed with kamai and perhaps previous lives of unconditional devoted love of Waheguru. So did alot of singhs and singhneea that we do not/will not ever hear about. We salute all of them equally. It would be unfair to uplift the status of the very Singhs who genuinely thought of themselves as the lowest of the low, unlike the dozens, nay hundreds of Sant Babae who roam around the world fleecing sangats emotional love and maya. Worse things happen in this world when Good people don't do anything......
  18. It is impossible to inspire anyone else truly. One can only inspire oneself by acting upon a good example given by another. In other words one can take a donkey to the river but not force it to drink the water. Satkaar for Guruji revolves around an inward respect for Gurbani and not an outward show of exuberance. How can one define sachkhand whilst also acknowledging the fact that Guru Sahib's presence is everywhere? So where is GuruJi not? Show me a place where the presence of Guruji(GOD) doesn't exist!?? Our minds will change when we realize that it is the ethereal(Jot) that we pay respect to not just mere words written on a piece of paper. The greatest satkaaar of Guruji is to read and act upon the Bani from Waheguru. Don't be shocked and please attend Khalsa Camp next year and show the organisers how to go about preparing what you call 'sachkhand'. When others cannot do it then its time you took the action to implement your words. See you at the next camp khalsa ji!!!
  19. yes there was, sachkhand is where truth permeates and wherever Guru Sahib is that is sachkhand. -the paradygm shifter
