    Facial Hair Issue

The translation is completely wrong, the tuk is not talking about hair at all.
  2. http://www.gurugrant...rpan2/0393.html Site is not using UTF8 font, so I can't copy paste. But if you go to that, find the shabad and read the meaning

    Facial Hair Issue

Many times I get the feeling that we have made sikhi into a very masculine religion. A question to ponder, if a man were to develop breast tissue (it happens), would you say that it's also a gift of god and to just 'live with it'? Another question to ponder, if someone were to get a disease, should they simply accept the disease and not get treatment for it? Do note that Gurbani clearly states and even something as little as the common cold is given to people by waheguruji. Maafi is this is going completely off topic, but this was just something that came to me in my sleep deprived state. Edit: I should also note that biba having 'excessive' facial hair appears to be a rather new phenomenon. If we look at our grandmothers, they usually rarely have much facial hair. I am of the opinion that food we eat these days is laden with chemicals, which interferes with the body's natural hormone balance and causes all sorts of problems. To clarify my stance, I'm not advocating removal of hair, but rather, I'm advocating cleaning up our diets so we do not ingest unhealthy chemicals and screw up our hormone imbalance.

    Injured Singh

To do gurbani abhyaas you need time, which most do not have as we have firmly planted our feet deep with in worldly affairs. So if you have some free time, try not to let it go to waste! A month is a decent amount of time to take your avastha to a higher level Bhaji, there is no time restriction on reciting any gubani. Satguru jee says AwT phr swlwih isrjnhwr qUM ] and aUTq bYTq sovq iDAweIAY ] Reciting Gurbani is doing ustat of akaal purakh, as it is clear from the above tuks, we should be striving to do it all the time. But such an avastha is only achieved by gurpRswid I'm not sure how old you are, but please try not to turn every thread in to a joke. It's okay to be light hearted, joke around, but not ALL the time. Sometimes, it's best to refrain from saying anything if you do not have anything constructive to say

There is so much you could do, since you do have all this free time, why dont you start with 25 japji sahib paath's every day

    How To Move On?

Payare bhenji, I don't mean to sound harsh but I feel the problem is that you had certain expectations of this individual and those have not been met which seems to the reason for all the sorrow you are currently experiencing. This is what I call 'expectation-disappointment cycle', we keep putting our expectations on people and we keep getting disappointed, this happens over and over again but we never learn. I'm the same way. From my experience, the key is not to expect much from others, be forgiving and most importantly, as a Sikh, we should hold ourselves to a higher standard. That does not mean that we should dissociate ourselves from others. We should, to the best of our ability, perform the duties of a householder but try our best to keep our expectations of others as low as we possibly can.
  11. Erm just a quick question, how could you tell that most of the folks celebrating were, as you so eloquently put it, 'freshies'?
  12. Can you please clarify what you mean by "we"? Dhanwaad
  13. The body was never the Guru, shabad (The Word) was. Guru Nanak Sahib Jee himself tells us this. When Guru Sahib went to meet Sadhu's on Sumer parbat, sadhu's asked Guru sahib who their Guru was. Satguru Ji replied I've color coded in the hope that it will help you understand. Black is the question posed by Sadhu's and blue is the answer given by Dhan Sahib Shri Guru Nanak Sahib Jee. In red is the direct tuk which supports that Shabad has always been the Guru. What you have to understand is, there is a certain order to the world. Guru sahib showed us how to live with in that order (physically) and yet be spiritually highest of the high. Dhan Guru Nanak :L: That is incorrect. The Jot was hidden with in the body known as Guru Nanak. The day Guru Sahib gave gurgaddi to Bhai Lehna Jee, thereby making them Guru Angad Sahib Jee, that jot transferred bodies. It is documented in historical documents that when Guru Gobind Singh Jee gave gurgaddi to Shri Guru Granth Sahib Jee, the jot was actually seen by many to move from the body known as Guru Gobind Singh Jee and disappear into Guru Granth Sahib Jee. When you think about this, does it really matter either way? If you still have doubts, then please accept my apologizes as I'm not wise enough to answer your questions.

Pick a bani, any bani, that you feel especially close to and recite it for 1hr (or more ) everyday. Ask Guru Sahib to grant you focus at the beginning and thank them for letting you sit the full hour once you have finished. In a relatively short period of time you will feel a big difference in your thoughts. Give it a shot for a couple of weeks at the very least Personally, I would recommend mool mantr (till 'nanak hosi bhi sach') but you can do abhyaas of any other bani as well Unfortunately for me, I have not been able to keep it consistent but hopefully Guru Sahib does kirpa on you

  16. I do love Jassa's reply No offense intended to you or your wife, but I'm from Punjab as well and I knew about all the points you have mentioned above, except attack on darbar sahib. I was only 14 when I came to Canada so it's understandable that my parents didn't give that information to me. Fast forward over a decade and my friends who are currently living in Punjab do know about all the above and they know it in quite a bit of detail as well. I'm not sure why your wife didn't know about any of those things  Again, no offense intended to you or your wife
  17. Looking at his positive aspects (which we as Sikhs should always be doing), he is the only one of two folks in Indian political history who have zero corruption charges against them. Also, every single politician respects him. This is highly unprecedented in any country, but in India, that is simply miraculous. It goes without saying that he is a genius when it comes to dealing with economics of a country battered by many decades of corruption and wrong doing. He is a very down to earth human being as well, which sadly can not be said about a lot of people who frequent this forum.

Take a calcium supplement, most milk products are fortified with calcium anyway.

Seriously? 1. It's a natural bodily process which can not be stopped or at least it shouldn't 2. Do you have any scientific evidence that supports this? I'm only curious, because I have never read anything even remotely close to that Yep, that's the first thing to test Although, you might need more than 2 days to notice it's full effects. Maybe try for a couple of weeks, just to be sure. If cutting down milk doesn't help, here's a few more things you may want to try. - increase your water intake, aim for 2-3 liters per day - eat fruit BEFORE you eat your meal so it can easily pass through your body - don't drink water at least 30 minutes before and 30 minuter after you eat
  21. Atrix has blooming good hardware, I'm just wondering if anyone in North America (US, Canada) has bought it. What are your opinions? I'm thinking of buying it, but can't decide as I am a total newbie to the Android side of things. I have been doing some reading over the past few days, and it seems 2 things really stand out for most people - Motoblur, the crap bloatware installed by Motorola is useless and it slows the phone down - locked boot loader, which means you can't custom roms. I'm more concerned about being able to disable Motoblur and get more resources for other apps, not to mention, longer battery life
  22. As pjs sio said, andriod! Now, only if lovely carrier companies would stop putting their bloatware crap (<_<) on Android phones, it would be able to surpass Apple's iOS.
