  1. Never have I said do not talk about Islam you are free to do so. If i ignore people who ask me about Islam when I have specifically asked not to be then I may miss out on other posts of theirs which may be beneficial and informative for me so I choose not to do this option of ignore. I didnt mean for the subject of this thread to be messed up so please continue to talk about the t-shirt previously mentioned
  2. Are you blind? Ive said enough times that it is NOT what is said about Islam here that I dont like it is things completely different and separate from that. But people here are obsessed with Islam you just cant seem to help yourselves but always compare with Islam go on about how much better than Muslims you are, if I ever reply to a topic people always say to me, well Yasmin you know in your religion this and this happens...... SO WHAT? I come here to learn about Sikhism and all I ever got was people retalliating at me things about Islam when I made not one mention of it. This is soemthing I've become really fed up with. I cant come here as a person I come here and immediately get judged as being a Muslim person and immediately get thrown hadiths and passages of the Qur'an. does my request to learn about Sikhism and not have to defend everything you say about Islam count? Apparently not. Even in this thread look how many people have commented that I shouldnt take offence of what people say about Islam here even though I've repeatedly said ITS NOT ABOUT ISLAM. lol sikh supreme I am in no fear, for you to think you can know anything about my belief like that is quite frankly arrogant. You can be content with the thought that had I been a Muslim coming here to learn about Sikhism with a view to convert you all would have put me right off ever going down such a path.
  3. lol what so now you want me to explain every hadith or passage in the Qur'an you dont agree with? Sorry i refuse to do that and I resent what you say about me in the beginning of your post. I am becoming sick of this forum
  4. Your posts are appreciated, however like I said before my concerns are not only with the way Islam is discussed in this forum. It is more the whole general attitude, views and behaviour I have witnessed as a whole that I feel uneay about. mann_kaum_layee_qurbaan i dunno what you were trying to say in your last post calling yourself 'low life scum' but I think better to ignore it :-)
  5. I haven't condemned everyone on the forum because of just these two people. In fact my concern about what I read here has been growing for some time and this particular thread was the final straw for me as well as a couple of others around at the moment. I have learnt alot about Sikhism from this forum and I respect the religion very much. But I am sorry I cannot say the same for the people who follow it. It is not just about what people here say about Islam and Muslims, it is many things and many subjects. And its not just two people its many people. I came here with an extremely open mind about Sikhism as the religion and Sikhs themselves. I had no prior bias or prejudice or thoughts about you. So the fact that I come away from here with a negative view disappoints me but it is a sad fact. Before anyone says it, I am not going to generalise the whole Sikh population with what I have experienced here. I will simply choose a different place to learn about Sikhism and meet some other people in the hope that what I have seen is not true.
  6. lol blimey...well thanx @ Thanx again. So finally the true colours of people in this forum come out. Needless to say I wont be visiting this forum much anymore. And please can we quit with the use of the word 'paki' when referring to a Muslim? If you're referring to a Muslim call them a Muslim not a 'paki' and if you're referring to someone of Pakistani origin then say they are pakistani not 'paki' that is a disgusting word.
  7. mann_kaum_layee_qurbaan, I have no doubt you are probably right, I was not implying that everything being said here is wrong!! I'm not one to know whether everything being said here is right or not lol I just wanted to make the point that when talking about any religion, even our own we make sure what we say is correct so as not to cause confusion or to unfairly link a practice with a religion which isn't really there.
  8. I just wondered, does a kara look in a particular way that it could be recognised as a kara and not just a bangle? No offense intended. As for Muslims who wear kara with the intent to imitate a Sikh then get them off them lol they shouldnt be wearing them anyway.
  9. Just a note of caution: can we all be careful that if we are going to speak of other religions that are not our own that we make sure we are 100% certain that what we say about them is true and correct. I have noticed that some posts show a confusion between religious practices and maybe not completely correct information :-) If we check on what we are saying it will aid our understanding and stop any confusion arising.
  10. I'm no expert on Sikhism but what you seem to be saying is that you want the facts on Sikhism. If so I would suggest maybe visiting some websites dedicated to telling the facts about Sikhism. Forums are often better when you're asking certain questions or want opinions on certain issues. If you want to learn the facts of the religion first maybe some of the members could suggest some good websites for you. Just my two cents :-)
  11. There is no special stone inside the Ka'bah but there is one on the outside which is part of the square known as 'the black stone'
  12. Islam is against any form of idol worship just as sikhism is. There are no idols or statues in the Ka'bah, there is in fact absolutely nothing in there but one man did report seeing a table in there. Either its completely empty or there is a small table in there but there are certainly no idols or sandals in there.
  13. Its been mentioned alot of times here that the man was wearing a padded jacket. It has been widely reported on the media that as he was from brazil which is used to 30-40 degree temperatures he was bound to feel cold in this climate hence the heavier clothes than we would wear if we're used to it. make of that what you will
  14. What on earth is pakiism suppossed to be? If you're referring to Islam do so correctly.
  15. havent checked this thread for a couple of days... how things change lol sikh supreme thanx mann_kaum_layee_qurbaan i took no offence to your question. I have no problem if people want to ask a simple question on say the basic principles and tenents of islam. but when it comes to issues involing politics, very controversial issues etc and those which require good knowledge to give a reasonable explanation then I am not willing to answer. Would you answer a question on sikhism if you were not 100% about the accuracy of your answer? Its important these days that if we answer, we answer correctly otherwise this is how mis-interpretations and misunderstandings can happen. hope u see my point. no bad feelings !!! I usually make a comment to do with Islam if I see that someone has said soemthing in a thread which is incorrect and needs to be corrected otherwise people will have the wrong understanding (and if people want to pm me about Islam). Other than that then I am here for the sole reason of learning about Sikhism. lets leave it at that!!!
  16. I have read the Qur'an I have not memorised it so although I would like to say i condemn anyone who kills innocents such as what happened in london, I cannot speak 'from a viewpoint of the Qur'an' as I simply do not have the knowledge to do this justice. I would reccomend speaking to a muslim in your local area if there is one who is knowledgable on Islam (the local imaam for instance) and/or someone who has memorised the Qur'an and so could easily draw upon correct verses and chapters (and hadith if necessary) to support what you are asking for. I do not like to speak on issues and matters which I feel I do not have enough knowledge on as I could easily make a mistake which not only would mislead me but mislead you and everyone on the forum who reads this thread I hope you can understand that.
  17. I have read the Qur'an in english. I cannot read arabic (I was not brought up as your traditional born muslim might normally be), I was never taught to read it I am going to learn in the future though God-willing
  18. lol... charming well thank you and thanx for clearing up your point
  19. I am not sufi I am a sunni muslim I can assure you this is one sunni muslim who is not an 'evil racist killer bent on going to hell' and neither is any muslim whom I know  Thank you
  20. I dont want to barge in on the thread but kurtas I would just like to point out that actually in Islam a person does not have to change their name to an arabic name unless it has some kind of meaning which contradicts Islam in some way  I used to know quite a few sikhs who were given english names by their parents though i dont know the reasons why whether they wanted to 'fit in' or just preferred the names  If when a child is born and a letter is chosen for it from the page of the Guru Granth Sahib (correct me if im wrong on that) would it be acceptable for them to choose an english name that begins with that letter or must it be what is considered a 'sikh' name? just out of curiosity
  21. Like I've said before, I came here to learn about sikhism not be constantly questioned about Islam. Most of the questions I get asked are not from people wishing to know things about Islam but to refute the Qur'an, asking me to bring evidence forward against certain allegations etc. Yes I would take part in such a march as bingle is proposing. Of course I condemn what these men who claim to be my brothers in Islam have done in London. There is no justification for it what so ever. Now sorry i didn't want this topic to be side tracked so please carry it on as it was before. I would encourage any sikh here who finds themselves the victim of a race/religious based crime to visit this link and report it: (note this is for less urgent crimes, serious crimes go straight to the police station!) https://www.online.police.uk/english/default.asp
  22. So you're saying not a single muslim in the country 'replied' to your invitation to join the protest? Sorry but I find that hard to believe
  23. Bingle I just wondered will you also be inviting muslims to take part in your proposed march ?
  24. Peace I am not a convert but even while learning about Sikhism I can understand where this person is coming from as I do not speak Punjabi so it makes the learning process slower as you have to continually ask people what words and sayings mean that are second nature to punjabi speakers. If you are setting up a group i'm sure it would be helpful for many people
  25. Leamington Spa Posse!! Lol thats where i'm from just wanted to butt in
