  1. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh Guru sahib kirpa karan and bless all of us more patience, tolerance, love n respect for guru sahib and all the mankind. Guru Raakha Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh
  2. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh well nice to see kids got their smile back , thanks to guru and guru kai pyarey. I seconded Veer Harnek Singh suggestion, pls. sadh sangat talk to ur parents, elders and adopt them, set an example so that they can live respectful life. And why not Sikhs in India (well settled ) should adopt these kids. Adopting these kids is much much better way then to wear any thread (tabeez), going to so called BABA etc. to have kids in life. I think Institute like Akal Academy (Baru Sahib) should adopt these kids or SGPC should provide similar facilities to these kids. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh

  4. Waheguru Jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh As per my little knowledge Sikh Panth is having following methods to spread the messages of GURBANI : 1. Gurbani Kirtan (Either on Harmonium or Rabab etc.) Panth has accepted singing of Bani of SGGS jee, Bhai Gurdass Jee Vaaraan, Dasam Granth bani in Kirtan form on various Saajs. 2. Gurbani Katha Explanation of Gurbani by Katha Vachak 3. Kavi Darbars Singing self made rhymes in praise of waheguru / guru sahibans/ shaheeds etc. 4. Dhadi Vaaraa Shaheedi and other inspirational incidents from sikh history being performed on speical saaj in a special way. Using Dharanas in Kirtan is like mixing of Kavi Darbar with Kirtan Darbar. I believe Dharanas are like poems so should not we sing in Kavi Darbar than in the Kirtan Darbar ?. About the Punjabi language, Pls educate me if Punjabi Lanaguage (major language used in SGGS Jee) can not be understand by the people of Punjab (the ppl whose mother tongue is Punjabi) then who else can understand it better ? If we accept the fact that uneducated pendu ppl do not understand Bani, that way we should not sing dharanas i educated urban sangat ? As we say Sikhi is all about qualities not quantitites, if by obeying guru jee hukam and reciting bani few ppl. do not come to diwan , should we bothered about them who do not want to listen their guru's bani. Is it fair to say that singing gurbani reduced the effectiveness of Parhcar ? bhulla chuka dee mafuai Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh
  5. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh thats great jee , Veer Ranjeet Singh Programme are full packed with sangat as usual we see in India too. Well as i mentioned in my previous posts he is awesome parchark and panth today need more n more young parcharaks like him. But I just wanna to know that is he reading dharanas/ kachi bani in diwans ? is reading of dharanas/ kachi bani as kirtan is acceptable to all the sangat of uk / canada ?? bhulla chukka dee maufai waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh
  6. Waheguru Jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh WoW Amazing jee, surely all the Singhnis will have awesome and life time memorable time there in the camp. Big hands to sewadaars of such programmes. I wish with guru jee kirpa n hukam & sangat ardassa/support similar activities can also begin in India. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh
  7. Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa Waheguru Jee Kee Fateh Jagmeet Jee , in Delhi on Every Wednesday Amrit Sanchar is being organized in Historical Gurudwara Sri Sees Ganj Sahib. Timings : 9.00 a.m. onwards. Apart from these Amrit Sacnchar is being organized in many Kirtan / Katha Samagams held in various parts of India time to time. Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa Waheguru Jee Kee Fateh
  8. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh About the number as we all knows that Sikhi is not about quantity , its quality that matter. I agree he emphasis on guru fateh and other sikhi priniples. On touching of feets issue or bowing infront of him I believe he should be more strict . I would request you to see the cd of the last deeevan of Ranjit Singh jee before he leaves for Italy. Agree panth deseprately need quality parcharaks, we already suffered big loss by the demise of Maskeen Jee. I believe if Veerjee does kirtan of Gurbani / Bhai Gurdass Jee Vaaraan / Dasam Granth (which he is very much capable), a big part of sikh sangat of India and abroad will also support him. 9. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh   Dhan guru dhan guru pyarey Well i am speechless after reading above posts and truly feeling ashamed on me. Would humbly request _/\_ all of the sangat to do ardassa for me jee. bhulla chuka dee maufai _/\_ Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee keee fateh
  10. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh Yes Ranjit Singh Veerjee (Dhandria wale) is quite popular esp. in the rural areas of Punjab. The explanation of bani , knowledge of history, the way SGGS jee and Panj Pyareas are respected during the deevans is also very appreciable. But there is lot of criticisim over reading Dharanas or kachi bani by other parcharaks. Lot of people touching his feets or doing other avoidable n undesirable acts. Lot of sangat is taking amrit during the deevans but there should be some link / track with that sangat to keep them inspire for more n more chardi kalaa. I also heard that Ranit Singh Veerjee was wearing his siri sahib during the visit to Italy in the charterd aircraft esp. arranged by Italy /Europe Sangat. 11. waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh This so called fake story is result of our so called leaders's crap and bias acts Almost every sikh institiute/ school/ technical institutes/ hospital / office managed by SGPC / DSGPC is already overstaffed, however every new president / chairman wants to bring his / her own faithfull supporters and create posts to recruit them. This is the one of the major reasons for decreasing quality of Institututes/ Schools run by Sikh Committees. During the Samagams etc. big speeches are given about making quality educational & health institutes, formation of educational council but today's reality is that quality of these schools/ institutes are decreasing day by day however the fees and other charges are increasing. Initially the staff are being recruited on temporary / contractual basis with minimum wages with which they can hardly have 3 time food for their families. Sometime, the desire of getting permanent job or more money leads these employees to do undesirable acts also. This may be fake story but if our leaders continue to do these kind of bias acts , we may listen the sad news like suicide, conversions, exploitation and closing of institutues etc. in coming future. bhulla chukka dee maufai _/\_ Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh
  12. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jeekee fateh Guru Pyareyo I wonder i have not seen even a single pic of guru sahib jee drawn by guru jee himself in hazoor sahib. Even no body mention it ever about it. guru raakhhaa waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh.
  13. Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa Waheguru jee kee FAteh I agreee No One Jee that we should see good / positive but the quantity of that quality ppl is getting decreased day by day. As i earlier said having so many nagar kirtan is no use man, think if we have one combind big nagar kirtan for whole area then instead of having small small nagar kirtans. I think that way we can save money, time as well we can inspire more sangat for sikh plus it would be an awesome chance for meeting new gursikhs of different localities. One more thing I really wish should be corrected is that in India when nagar kirtan is going on , sangat is doing kirtan behind SGGS Jee and Panj Pyarey Sahibans , every street or stall sangat play their own audios of kirtan / dharmik songs which results we can not either listen sangat kirtan or audios. second thing lot of kids / youngster play crackers in nagar kirtan even after the cleaning of road by sangat and if u try to convey them most likely u r going for argument/ fights with them. bhulla chukka dee maufai waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh
  14. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh Very valid question on the output of today's nagar kirtan. In India , we can see loads of nagar kirtans by various gurudwaras on various occasions. The gurudwara even in the vicinity of 5 kms or less organized their own nagar kirtan , how we can be one or do any thing together where our name will go ?? Nagar kirtan for awarness/ parchar purpose is appreciable but you ask any non sikh person what he had learned / knows from this nagar kirtan ; most likely answers : 1. today there is some festivals of sikhs (u ask any sikh youth what is today history, believe me most of them may not tell jee). 2. there will be lot of eating stalls (where mostly no langar making or distribution marayads is taken care). 3. today wil be traffic jam so one more tension. 4. for most of the sikh youth its enjoy day, driver their bikes wrong side or brake all traffic rules (why not today is our day, we can do anything), a great date for some of them and good chance of new cupid hit. 5. good day for pick pocketers (thief) too. 6. for gurdwara committee its one of the primary n important expense item for their ledger. Well i do not know when the day will come when we wil realized the actual requirement to promote / inspire sikhs and non sikhs for sikhi. those who want to do something has nothing in their hands (financial & other powers) and those who are in position / power to do somethign are not willing to do so. bhulla chukka dee maufai waheguru jee ka khalsa waehguru jee kee fateh
  15. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh i agree with Vicky singh comments here. I do not know why sometime knowingly or unknowingly we make simple things very hard / difficult. Yes the education wrt what is kara, why we wears kara etc. should be given. bhulla chukka dee maufai waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh
  16. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh Would request to provide more detail information on this event for Kids esp. what will be the activities, sports, worshops and other realted activities of this one day camp. waiting dassara Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh
  17. Waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh Well I agree with the Idea of doing organized parchar is better solution for issues like this. Well these punjabi singers are really big problem for sikhi in Punjab. Most of youth are attracted towards these singers and the bollywood movies and they simply follow them. One more point here to be noticed that ideally anand karaj should be perform before 12.00 hrs but in India a big chunk of anand karajs are performed after 12.00 hrs. Well here we can make rules that anand karaj will only be perform before 12.00 hrs not later than that. During the anand karaj cermoney , the granthi singh & other parcharaks should inspire / motivate sangat and the couple for a sikhi jeevan. Generally the granti singh jee read laavans and did not explain the meaings hence the sangat is totally unaware abt the real message coming out of anand karaj. Rest guru sahib kirpa karan jee. bhulla chukka dee maufai waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh

  19. http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_1273897,00110003.htm ------------------------------ India has a reason to toast Oscars 2005, after all. And no, this isn’t about the reflected glory that Born Into Brothels — the Best Documentary (feature) on children in Kolkata’s red light area, Sonagachhi, made by two Brit filmmakers — fetched us. Meet Karansher Singh, Toronto-based animator par excellence. He’s the brains behind Ryan, winner of the Best Short Film (Animated) award at the Academy Awards this year. Singh is a professor of computer graphics and animation at the University of Toronto by calling, but that’s not his claim to fame. The Oscar glory apart, he is also the man who designed Maya, a software for animation used by filmmakers from Steven Spielberg and George Lucas to the world’s highest-paid director, Peter Jackson (The Lord Of The Rings). “It’s pretty much the industry standard on animation in Hollywood,” he says, talking to HT City from Toronto. His involvement with Ryan director Chris Landreth goes back to almost a decade. “He’s the artist and I am the scientist in our projects,” says Singh. “When Chris suggested this idea, we both knew we had to film it.” Naturally so — the 13-minute film documents the life of Ryan Larkin, “the gifted animator of the late sixties who defied traditional norms set by Disney to pioneer computer-generated imagery (CGI)”. Karansher Singh: An animator par excellence Don’t think it’s a sedate celluloid biopic. “Ryan’s life is a story in itself,” says Singh. “He reigned in his time, gradually became an alcoholic and today spends his days in a shelter for the homeless in Montreal.” Singh and Landreth’s tribute to their hero unfolds surreally. “We’ve tried to give the film a Salvatore Dali kind of feel,” he says. Singh calls it “non-photo realism”, and admits it’s his kind of animation: “I love fashioning painting-like imagery while rendering visual effects.” He may have worked with the biggies (Dinosaur and The Lord Of The Rings films, to name a few), but his heart lies with independent projects like Ryan. “That’s where you can break new ground,” Singh points out. “The Oscar win is a boost, but it certainly doesn’t make life easier for indie filmmakers like us.” If his struggle fetches him another Oscar or two, we don’t mind.

  21. ------------------------------------------------------- Censor board snips scenes in ‘Shabd’ after protests from sikhs Friday February 25 2005 17:09 IST PTI NEW DELHI: The film censor board has issued directions to delete certain scenes in the recently released Hindi film ‘shabd’ following complaints from the Sikh community that they were hurting their religious sentiments. This was communicated to the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) by Sharmila Tagore, chairperson of the central board of film certification (CBFC). In a letter to NCM chairman Tarlochan Singh, the censor board informed that the necessary deletion of the objectionable scenes have been made by the producer, the commission said in a release here on Friday. Tagore further said the censor board will take special care in future that such objectionable content is not overlooked. Sikh organisations had lodged a strong protest claiming the Sanjay Dutt and Aishwarya Rai starrer, directed by debutante director Leena Yadav, had certain remarks which were "ridiculous and offended the Sikh sentiments," the commission said. ----------------------------------------

  23. He feels blessed to have presented Sikhism rationally Tribune News Service Ludhiana, February 23 Noted theatre and film personality Mangal Dhillon feels that he is the “blessed and the chosen one” for having been able to present to the world the Sikh religion in most rational and scientific way. Taking a seven-year sabbatical from the active film and television career, Dhillon took up the first missionary venture, “Khalsa”, a film on Sikh religion and history, in 1999. However, he regretted that the mission was being sabotaged by some pirates who had brought out the film on CDs. He himself accompanied the raiding police teams in different areas and seized quite a number of these. He has screened the film about a thousand times since and has been present in each and every show. He said since it was not a commercial film, it could not be screened in theatres. But special shows were organised. The money was raised through sponsorships only. He said he did not bring out the CDs of the movie for all these years as he wanted to create a movement by way of screening it in public to create a sense of belonging so that the viewers could identify themselves with the film and the mission behind it, that is the Sikhism which is no different from humanism. Talking to The Tribune here today he said: “actually Khalsa is not a commercial movie...it is a missionary movie aimed at interpreting the Sikh religion not only to the Sikhs but also to the entire world”. He regretted that his mission was sabotaged by some persons who wanted to make money by selling pirated CDs of his movie. Dhillon was to bring out the authorised CDs of the movie in April. Dhillon, who took a sabbath from the commercial films and television serials in 1995 to make films on Sikh history, has already done four films and is bringing out three others. He is to bring out “The Inseparable:A Sikh and his Turban” to present the case of the Sikhs about turban in France. He said the film would be released in Paris and would help to convince the French, who are most liberal, the importance of turban for a Sikh. He said after completing his mission with the Sikh history he would be returning to the commercial movies and serials. After the “Khalsa” he brought out, “Parkash tau Parkash Tak” based on the 24-hour services at the Darbar Sahib and the “Parkash Guru Granth Sahib”. While “The Inseparables” will be brought out sometime next month, he is making three more films ‘Toshkhana-Sri Darbar Sahib”on the precious artefacts of the Darbar sahib, “An American Tribute to Sikhism” and “Saka Sirhind” on the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas.
  24. --------------------------------------------------------------- The Sikh community has raised objection over the use of the word "Sardar" in the movie "Shabd" produced by Pritish Nandy Communications Limited and demanded its deletion. The Sikh Brotherhood International has rushed off letters to Pritish Nandy Communications Limited, the Censor Board of India, and the National Commission of Minorities, expressing resentment of the community. In the letter, organisation's president Parbinder Singh Chandhok stated that the movie has hurt the self respect of the community as the the word "Sardar" has been used in a disrespectful manner. In the movie, the word "Sardar" has been used in a comical sense. "What makes the writer, director and actors think that the word just expresses amusement ?," he sought to know in the letter. In India and abroad, "Sardars" were torch-bearers of the freedom struggle. History will support us if we assert that "Sardars" sacrificed themselves in overwhelming numbers during the freedom struggle, he went on to state in the letter. In fact, the word literally means a person who places his "sar (head)" on the "dar (guillotine)". It is no joke to be a "Sardar", Mr Chandok went on to point out. The "Sardars" should not be ridiculed, he said. Meanwhile, Pritish Nandy Communications Limited has tenderred a written apology saying that they respect the Sikh community and hold it in high esteem. About the objectionable scene, Pritish Nandy Communications Limited said there was no intention to ridicule anybody. But, "Shabd" has already been certified by the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) for adult viewing, and any change now will have to be done with the CBFC's permission and carried out with the board's concurrance. We will talk to the censor board immediately and try to find a possible solution at the earliest, the letter said. —UNI --------------------------------------------------------------------------
