  1. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Sorry that this post has nothing to do with the topic and for sounding pedantic, but this needs to be clarified: Humble benti to Sangat and Bachan Vidya - please don't associate that Baba dancing in front of Guru Jee with Nanaksar - that baba cannot be associated with Nanaksar becos he's doing Manmatt actions - Nanaksar, as preached by Baba Nand Singh Jee, advocates Gurmat and complete respect for Guru Granth Sahib Jee Maharaj. This is testified by Baba Nand Singh's Jeevan and Kamayee. This Harnek baba is claiming to be part of Nanaksar sampardha just to prey on innocent and unsuspecting members of the sangat, although his actions nowhere near stand up to the level of respect for Guru Jee that Nanaksar in fact displays and teaches. Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguru
  2. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! It's sad that this is all happening. This Harnek guy is living of the Kamayee of Great GurSikh Sants like Baba Nand Singh, Baba Isher Singh and Baba Meehan Singh. Harnek uses these Sants' name and says he is part of the same "spiritual line". The Bibiyaan that follow now had respect for these Sants then follow this Harnek guy without evening questioning whether what he is doing is within Sikhi or not. Sad!!! @ :D @ @ Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguru
  3. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Just been watching the Antam Sanskaar videos - Baba Jee seems so ChardiKala and at peace. Waheguru Waheguru
  4. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Lohri is not a Sikh festival although it does seem to be a Panjabi festival celebrating the birth of a child. However, most Panjabis seem to celebrate only the birth of a boy. This is wrong, and Sikhi teaches us that we should treat both boys and girls equally. However, if "Lohri" is celebrated to welcome both boys and girls into the family, then there seems to be no objection, provided that the celebration opportunity is used for Paath and Keertan in a Gurudwara - any excuse to hold a function in a Gurudwara where can have Satsangat and do Naam Jupnaa  . Just my 2 cents Bhul Chuk Maaf, Waheguru
  5. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Agree with you Veer Jee - we have got a serious problem in our Panth in how to attract youth into the Panth. As the above quoted Pangtee states - only SatSangat can establish faith in the True Satgur and His omnipresence - this is the atmosphere that should be created in our Gurudwarae. However, these days, Gurudwarae have just become a social place of gathering, with a very few going to get Darshan of the Guru and learn. Gurudwarae have also assumed an irrelevance to much of the youth that do not understand Panjabi. We have the same kind of Gurmat classes that you suggested above in our area. But we chose to target children between 5 and 13 years old, as these are the age where children are most willing to listen. Beyond that age, we found that the youth were not willing to listen and hated/resented that they were being "preached" to. Only those children above 13 who had come from GurSikh families were willing to listen. But when we spoke to children of between 5 and 13, the stories heard really made an impression on them. They told their parents, and some of their parents who were otherwise just "Punjabi Sikhs", actually became interested in "Sikhi". Therefore, an introduction to Sikhi was launched for some parents - which we hope will pay dividends and bring them closer to Sikhi. Influence of parents is most important - in our Gurmat class, we only have 1 hour a week for Satsang, and there is no control over what else happens for the rest of the week. However, the class has only been running for 3 years, and who knows what long-term impact it will have on the children. Waheguru - Please bless us with the Sangat of Guru Pyarae -
  6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Thanks again for sharing - stay ChardiKala Jee. Waheguru
  7. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Talking about Gurudwara elections - don't know if this is true or not - But apparently the election of Singh Sabha Southall cost £30,000 to arrange, but nobody put an opposing candidate up. Is this right? If true, what a ludicrous waste of money!!! The problem is that people have too big an ego and want to be the leader, whilst no-one is willing to be a Nimaana Sevadaar. Real leaders, who are capable of leading the Sikhs should be selected, not elected!!! This would occur after consultation with the Panj Pyaare, as to which individuals have the best qualities required to run a Gurudwara. Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguru
  8. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! in the nanaksar gurudwara in the area where i live, women can do keertan on the stage waheguru
  9. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Wow, I really like Raamras Singh and Rasjeevan Singh - names with deep meaning, but very original - ones to go in the brain if 'R' comes out for any family member's child  . Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguru
  10. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! thank you very much for sharing!!! Waheguru

  12. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! From what I've seen, there's been an incredible response by the Sikh community to the appeals for aid and money donations for the Tsunami. In my local gurudwara, almost £10,000 got pledged within 10 minutes at the weekend just gone. The gurudwara committee is now thinking where they can donate this money. Ideally, all would like to donate to Sikh organisations such as Khalsa Aid and United Sikhs, but the prevalent view is that it should be donated an organisation such as DEC in the UK, because the money is likely to be used most effectively by such groups. This is not a reflection on the great seva the Sikh organisations do, but just a recognition that the international aid agencies have more experience and know-how in these situations. How can this be overcome in the future, because in the heart of hearts we all wish to see Sikh institutions advanced? One way would be to have a single international charitable Sikh institution to respond to such disasters and emergencies - that way they would have more clout and recognition in the international arena. Also, a more unified and powerful sikh charity will be able to do service all the time, much like the Red Cross (Christian) and Green Crescent (Muslim) do. It would also have more credibility amongst Sikhs, as we'd be more willing to donate to them. If Khalsa Aid and United Sikhs read this, is there anyway that you guys can hook-up and work together on this and other future missions :T: ...... I guess this is me being an idealist that all Khalsa should work together in the spirit of Unity and Eekta Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguru
  13. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Rakh-Charna-Vich Singh - A bit long but cool name I thought  ))))
  14. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! :| :T: I never saw this site ... now that everyone says how great it was, I really want to see it Hopefully the SikhiFM crew will get the website up and going again very soon Waheguru
  15. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Singstah is right. It would be nice if others appreciated our efforts, but we don't need to go round publicising them. The Gurmat principle that an individual shouldn't show off about his Seva applies also to the Khalsa Panth as a whole. We should carry on doing our Seva in a humble manner, and Guru Jee will fill the Jholeeya of his Sikhs himself. The Maan and Vadiyaee that the Sikh gets from the Guru is far greater than any recognition to be achieved on national media. But if the Guru so wills, he will accord worldly recognition to his Sikhs in any case; we shouldn't actively pursue such recognition. Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguru
  16. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  17. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Agree entirely with Mahavir - it is a good statement, covers substantially all the Sikh objections, but maybe it is too little too late. I doubt the press will report this response by the Sikh community. Who has written this response - it is very good, but we need ppl who can write this sort of stuff straight away. These type of educated Sikhs need to also build up credibility/network with the media, so that the media turn to them when any Sikh issue arises, rather than "Burae/Bhaiyae" who can't speak English properly and express their sentiments as they wish. Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguru
  18. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! thanks - i enjoyed the metaphor waheguru
  19. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Found this in today's The Observer. I think this is an article that tries to rebalance (belatedly) the media backlash that we faced in the last week. Observer Newspaper Article What does the sangat think about the article? Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguru
  20. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Dhan Dhan Baba Thakur Singh Even a morsel of the kamayee Baba Jee did would completely turn round the lives of us Maha Papees. Waheguru PS can ADMIN censure "<admin-profanity filter activated>" - we all know what it refers to it - it is unbefitting on a Sikhi website such as this
  21. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Excellent post Jee state of Sikhi in Punjab is truly depressing ... all they care about in Punjab (well my pind anyway) is 2 things: 1) trying to find ways to come abroad to western countries 2) those naujawan that have a dastaar, making sure that their turban colour matches with their shirt, and ensuring that their dastaar is all styled - they even got songs about it by Inderjit Nikku - Nikku's matching dastaar and shirt is a case in point. it is so sad Guru Bakhshish Kare r>Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguru
