  1. Whilst I'm not disagreeing with you entirely, I don't feel it's that black and white. For some individuals (atheist or not), the answer that God will feed a child hundreds of miles away is simply not good enough, especially if the child dies of starvation. Some would view that state of mind as compassion, others as atheism. The idea that God would let a child who has done nothing wrong die of hunger is too much to stomach for some. And this brings light to the age old anecdote that if there is a God, why is there so much bad in the world. And yes, this is indeed a matter of the individuals ego as well, because (I feel) the question is overly simplified. Sometimes it does come down to the fact that we as mere mortals simply cannot see the bigger picture. This question/thought process is not a result of atheism, but it is born out of compassion (dayaa), the place where all dharam begins....
  2. But those governments haven't dropped out of the sky, have they? They are people from the society, our society. Governments, media, police systems etc. are only a reflection of the society itself. For example: if everyone stopped smoking, stopped drinking and stopped taking drugs, would we have smoking cessation programs, alcoholics anonymous, or drug prevention programs? No, because we wouldn't need them. If everyone looked after their parents in old age, would we have old folks homes? No, because we wouldn't need them. And if everyone was honest, would we have corrupt governments? No, because there would be no corrupt people. And this is the underlying point. The corruption of these institutions only exists because of the greed and corruption of the people...
  3. It's always happening, whether it's in front of our eyes or not. And that's exactly what the original poster is going for. The issue is that it's happening all over the world all the time. Even if you feed half a dozen people in front of your eyes, that's still going to do nothing for the rest.
  4. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a waste to ask why. When an individual sees bad in the world and they have compassion for the situation, then it's only natural to ask why. No, we can all talk about karmic philosophy, or that it's a "test", but when a 4 year old girl in some third world country is dying of hunger in front of your eyes...well...let's just say I wouldn't be so hard hearted to say "it's her karam".
  5. There is more than enough on this earth to satisfy everyone's need, but not enough to satisfy a single person's greed. This is the root of it all. Why blame God for the bad deeds of people?
  6. Pyjama is Iranian. When you say "our" style, which style are you referring to? Sikh? Punjabi? Bharati?
  7. Worst pain ever. Listen to the Suleman tape.
  8. But coming back to the original point, I take it there is no one on another religion's forum? I'm not sure whether that's a necessarily good thing...
  9. To be honest, it's more that she's proud of what her tribe and country "were", not what her country "are". The same can be said for many nations, including ours. It was once glorious, now an absolute mess. All nations have their brave tribes (Sikh/Gurkha/Rajput/Marhatas/Pathans), and all have won and lost great battles. All part of a complete history.
  10. The sheer factual inaccuracies are outstanding! Plagiarised stories, historical inaccuracies, "scientific miracles", immoralities etc. And the "Dawah Machine" realise this. That's why they've changed their tactics. They no longer use things like "embryology in the quran" etc. to justify their scriptures. And that's exactly why I like to stick to the scriptural evidences. The sad thing is, majority of people have not read these verses, much less understood them...
  11. Well, there's a long way to go yet. Because there will always be those who will turn a blind eye to these things. Read the Quran 4 34. This is the famous wife beating very. Now the apologists will always talk about a "context". My question is, why does an Almighty God need to legislate the conditions it's permissable to beat your wife?? Another one is where the Quran mentions that Jesus did not die on the cross?! All I will say to that is, that's hilarious. There is more evidence for Jesus's death than his birth. And this is backed by so many Christian and non Christian sources. Yet the Quran says Jesus did not die on the cross. Definitely do your research people. I mean, I could do this all day (might even start a separate thread), but I personally don't like to go round and poke wide gaping holes in the religions of generally good and kind people. However, when you meet thick headed people like this, sometimes you just got to fight fire with fire...
  12. There is a Ramavtar in the Dasam Guru Granth Ji. This is the Ramayan that the Nihangs refer to.
  13. And this is exactly why no one should be banned or blocked. They're more than capable of destroying themselves?. Because if they were to apply the same criticism to themselves, their house of cards would come crashing down.
  14. This shows some people's intellect
  15. Whilst I appreciate your sentiment, blocking this guy is actually a bad idea, for 2 very important reasons,. 1. It shows a level of intellectual weakness on our side, unable to take any form of criticism, and 2. It's absolutely hilarious watching this guy dodge direct questions and run away when challenged. This is precisely the thing people need to see. Do not be afraid of hard questions, but also keep an eye on who's asking them. Don't get me wrong. I absolutely welcome anyone on this forum to ask the most convoluted questions they choose, all good. But when they resort to personal attacks like this guy, he'll be intellectually dealt with again and again, just like he has. I've replied to this guy on many occasions, asked him straightforward questions and directly challenged him. But he keeps dodging and running away. No need to block him. He'll cower away soon...
  16. I completely disagree. This person should not be blocked. Let him run free, because all he's doing is exposing himself and his true intentions, especially when he's challenged and runs away. And it is really important for the rest of the people to see that.
  17. So your whole argument is based on this simple formula: Similarities = Plagiarism This is intellectual horse manure. But what else would I expect from an individual such as yourself? You want to look at Plagiarism, please read your quran. Do you know that there are stories in there that exist in gnostic gospels? These were apocryphal texts which are rejected by Christians, but some how these stories crept their way in to the quran. I would say the same to you ("go to one of your scholars for proof"), but your scholars would most likely lie to you, much like they've been doing your whole like. Be consistent in your criticism. Because when you apply the same level of criticism to your holy text, your whole world will come crumbling down...
  18. And that's exactly the response I was expecting. Not engaging the question, not even a half-baked attempt to answer the point. Just a crappy statement wrapped up in insults. Take a good look everyone. This is what happens when you don't have the intellectual integrity to even attempt to answer the question. If you're that sure that you're correct, accept my challenge. But you won't, because you know that you will be destroyed. However, in the hope that you'll one day grow up intellectually, the challenge is still there. To everyone else, this is exactly what I wanted to expose, and i knew he was going to do this. It's okay to have a detailed and respectful discussion and be proved wrong. But avoiding the question altogether and going on the attack shows the true nature and intentions of the person. Go home mate. You're finished.
  19. Also, please try not to cower away from this question. See if you can answer without any deception.
  20. And once again, you've shown that you know nothing of the new (or old) testament. If you honestly believe Jesus did not claim to be God, make the thread. I'm not a Christian, but I'll prove 100% according to the bible that Jesus claimed to be God. Take this as a direct challenge. Though somehow, I don't think you'll accept (unsurprisingly). It also doesn't surprise me that you have difficulty understanding the Sikh (or even Christian) concept of God. Though tbh, even the Quran gets the trinity wrong, so why would you get it right.
  21. So that's your deal? Trying to find similarities between Sikhi and Hinduism, and use that to trigger people? Raise the level of your discussion mate, you're only embarrassing yourself. All religions have similarities...what is your point exactly?
  22. Welcome to the forum. Firstly, I like your manners. Even if we disagree on things, the mutual respect and manners should always be there. Why is it out of the question for God to want or need to take any form? These are parameters that you are attempting to enforce on to God in an attempt to get Him to fit in your mental construct. The moment you say that according to your logic God cannot do xyz, that whole reasoning falls apart because you are trying to limit God to your understanding and attempting to dictate what He should or should not do. Hence why I tried to make the question as simple as possible. If an almighty omnipotent God chooses to take human form, He can do so, because he has the power and will to do so. For Sikhs, it's really that simple. Hope that makes sense. With regards to my second point about Jesus claiming to be God, I'll wait for the other guy to respond, or you can give it go if you like??
