  4. This has been asked before, the answer to your question: http://akj.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1505&...04b28b6a6f0b9fe
  5. Why are you mixing Sikhi with WWE? :D @ That's wrong.
  6. I will say that I am not knowledgable person, I wish I was, but I'm not. And if you ask people to post their opinions then how does that give you an answer to your question? I will say I don't know much about anything so I couldn't answer your question. What surprises me is that people like to bash a group or ask stupid questions, and when told to ask the source, they back off and say they want no AKJ people to answer a question about the Jatha. Seems kind of silly. It's like asking a English teacher about your math homework, doesn't make sense. Don't be afraid, ask the Singhs at the akj site.
  7. Why? To get this thread closed quickly? Try using the search function on this board, this topic has been discussed to death.
  8. I thought you wanted the truth, also on the AKJ board there are not kids or uninformed people giving their personal opinions. Its actually knowledgable adults who make the posts, so you will get something worthwhile, nothing like some of the bashing posts on this board. But if you only want opinions, not facts, then it's your choice.
  9. Why not post this question here: http://akj.org/forum/index.php?sid=9bdce6f...b6cf3522b217b0a get a direct answer, not opinions of non AKJ members.
  10. The easy path is never the right path, that's for starters. Most people who cut their hair have no knowledge of Sikhi therefore they have no appreciation for it. It starts with parents who have to teach why Sikhi is important then YOU HAVE to have Sangat. Without Sangat the Sikhi seed inside us won't grow. It grows with Guru's blessing, but you have to go and get his blessing, which comes from doing Sangat on a consistent basis. If you have kept your hair all these years and you make snap decision about if you should continue keeping your hair it seems a bit extreme. It all depends how strong of a person you are on the inside, everyone gets negative thoughts from time to time, that is the influence of Kalyug, but we have to fight it. My advice to you is that let any notions that you may have in your head for cutting your hair, simply ignore. No matter how much this idea comes in your head, simply ignore it. See what happens, you will be surprised. Do Ardaas to Guru Sahib that he save you and your hair, leave your thoughts to him. Start attending Sangat, it can work wonders, heres a start, Sangat meetings in NYC: http://www.keertan.org/programs.php http://keertan.org/contacts.htm P.S. Whenever I get negative thoughts I watch this clip at a high volume, it helps :D ) http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6...&q=manpreet
  11. Sant Ji always wore Karas on both hands.
  12. Gurbani does not directly say keep your hair, or keep 5 k's or any of the Rehat that is required. It all comes from other sources such as Rehat Naamas written by the original Panj Pyarays and Mukhti Naama written by Guru Gobind Singh Ji and other sources. Katha on Mukhti Naama is very interesting, it tells in detail what a Sikh can and can not do, it's a must listen: Katha I learned A LOT from this Katha, I thought I knew something about Sikhi, it really opened my eyes.
  13. But most Amrit Sanchaars don't tell you to Jap Naam and they don't bless you with it. The SGPC Amrit Sanchaars don't do Naam Drir. There are cases where people retake Amrit from Amrit Sanchaars where Naam Drir is given. I think that AKJ is one of the few Jathas where Naam Drir is given. The original post was amazing.
  14. Vaheguru, amazzzzzing veer!!! For those that are troubled by the Sangat bobbing their heads to the power of Naam Simran, during Bhai Randheer Singh Ji's time, during the Ren Sabahees Singhs would begin to float because the vibration was sooo strong. I know I will get flamed by non believers, but that is the power of Naam. For moorakhs like myself, we will never understand the power of Naam. Vaheguru...
  15. I disagree because if you reject the concept of Panj Pyaray then you undermine the Amrit Sanchaar Ceremony and therefore the concept of taking Amrit. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I would say that I disagree with you. This is my last post on the topic.
  16. Vampire, then what is the purpose of having Panj Pyaray in Sikhism? What is the value of the Panj Pyaray in Sikhism if you're not gonna follow them? It seems that you view them as just a group of 5 guys. They are not, where the 5 reside that is where Guru Sahib resides. Remember, after giving Amrit to the Panj, Guru Sahib himself took Amrit from them. So what the Panj says matters, not what your personal opinion is.
  17. Practicing Sarbloh Bibek is different than only eating from Amritdharees. These are two different issues. This discussion is about eating from Amritdharees. I will say that if you are not Amritdharee then you don't have any right to tell an Amritdharee what to do. Because for an Amritdharee Guru Sahib tell's that person what to follow. It seems people find it hard to follow so they label it as being a wrong practice. If the Panj command you to not eat from non Amritdharees then that is hukam of Guru Sahib not of some jatha. The Panj Pyaray don't belong to a specific jatha. Also I would say that our parents always want whats best for us. Sometimes they don't see this because they themselves have not been on the path. We should always value what our parents say but when it comes to Rehit, then it's what Guru Sahib says that counts, not our parents. After taking Amrit Guru Sahib becomes our Parent. What Bapu says we must do.

    Rehit?

I'm curious, khalsafauj, what is your opinion on the fact that Akhal Takhat Sahib recognizes maryadas other than the SGPC one as being equal to the SGPC one? Be it SGPC, Taksaal, whatever, they are equally accepted at Akal Takhat Sahib, so what's the issue?
  19. Yup, only Amritdharees are allowed to make the Langar at Harmander Sahib.
  20. akjforever

    Rehit?

Video on how the SGPC Maryada was made, and why it has problems. Must watch for the AKJ and Taksaal bashers, http://gursikhijeevan.com/media/video/files/RehatMarayda.wmv
  21. It was mentioned before in this thread , if the Panj Pyaray tell you only eat from the hands of Amritdharees how can one counter that? Why would you want to counter that? Is that really smart thing to do? It's one thing if the Panj Pyaray don't say anything about eating, then that is fine. But if they make it very clear that you should eat from only Amritdharees then are you gonna tell them, nope, I will do as I wish! The Panj are Guru Roop, so it is the same as Guru Gobind Singh Ji telling you. If you choose to ignore it then that is your problem. It is a hard thing to follow, but we have to work at it. Simply ignoring it doesn't make it ok. Remember when a person takes Amrit their parents become Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. So we have to do what Pita Guru Gobind Singh Ji wants us to do. It's hard, but Sikhi is supposed to be. :D
