  1. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Another Panthsewak My friend I wasn’t invited to attend this so called apology to Guruji. Quite conveniently BSC Committee kept this gupt, and now you are continuiously using to justify their behaviour. My comments reflect the constructive attitude of the Naujawan who wish to resolve this issue. However your comments reflect a continuing childish attitude, this reflects on the Committee aswell. If you are their representative the you are doing a bad job! When the Naujawan spoke to Harbans Singh he highlighted the procedures of the Committee. We agreed with him about the formal letter and an emergency committee meeting. Again your postings have undermined the Committee.
  2. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Here we go again! 'Another Panthsewak' ask the committee to respond to the formal letter from the Campaign on behalf the Sangat within the timeframe and the issue will be resolved. Your posting is not sufficient for the Sangat to have confidence that BSC have stopped beadbi of Guruji.
  3. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! The Naujawan have followed logical reasoning from the start. Thay have stayed within the law and voiced their outrage. The police were incorrectly informed about what was happening and Brent Sikh Centre better be ready for an invoice from the Police for wasting their time! On arrival the Police themselves noticed that the Naujawan were not causing any problem and some also attended with their children. What is Brent Sikh Centre scared of? The Naujawan at no point asked for Avtar Hoonjan to step down as President. They just want confirmation that the Centre will not do beadbi of Guruji again, Why can the Centre not do this? Is it because the Centre make alot of money from this activity? Or they have bookings for future 'Weddings'? Why can this committee not face the Sangat? The Committee have not acted as Sevadars but 'Owners' of Brent Sikh Centre. They have a responsibility and the Naujawan are reminding them of it. Again the Naujawan's resolve is as per the procedures of the Committee. They want an emergency committee meeting to happen and formal response to the points (as per the Campaign's posting above)within 7 days.
  4. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Sadh Sangat Please be aware and inform others. Recently on the train service from Ilford to Liverpool St a Punjabi Girl was constantly being stared at by another girl. Over time this carried on and they both worked within the same part of London. The Punjabi girl confronted the other girl thinking maybe she may be in trouble and needs help. But this girl has no such problem. The other girl asked whether she can speak Urdu and then forced the Punjabi girl to take a present. The Punjabi girl opened the present and it was a "Next" watch with a letter saying we must be friends, you are like my sister and had a phone number for her to contact. I have seen the letter and the girl's name was a muslim one. The punjabi girl has returned the present back to her and said she doesnt want to be friends. Please can everyone beaware of these softly softly tactics. The letter sent shives down my spine and the intent of the girl was obvious. She wished to target individuals with Long terms aims of conversion to Islam. BE AWARE OF THESE TACTICS BEING USED ON TRAINS AND UNDERGROUND. GurFateh!
  5. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Why should we believe R Kaur & Panthsewak that Hoonjan has apologised. We have no faith in Hoonjan and therefore the Gursikhs want a face to face meeting. Simple! Please tell me what you think the hidden agenda is. You are talking political rubbish and it is obvious that your stance is also political. All Hoojan thinks is that the GurSikhs are going to take his Pardhan title away from him! This narrow minded thinking has been used in all of R Kaur & Panthsevak's postings. What are you trying to prove by quoting Gurbani? The fact of the matter is that this is the Khalsa way! Issues relating to Beadbi to the Panth can only be forgiven in the presence of the Sangat. What gives Hoonjan the right to error and then forgive himself? It is a big issue! Representatives of Sikhism in the UK are not playing their part in promoting the religion. For God's sake is the 400th centennary of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Brent Sikh Centre are hypocrites as they would have celebrated this occasion but continue to sell Guruji as a commodity. Its a farce!!! Reflect over your actions, its time to rectify them and apologise to Guruji, WITH SINCERITY. You say that its the local community's issue. I never knew the borough of Brent included Slough! The actions of the Brent Sikh Centre have not been contained within the local community, therefore Sikhs across the UK have the right to intervene.
  6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Check out Tapoban, the thread about this beadbi is really hotting up!!! http://www.tapoban.org/phorum/read.ppa?f=1...i=18611&t=18611
  7. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! BRENT SIKH CENTRE EXPOSED!! On the 18th of September 2004, Brent Sikh Centre, Kingsbury, London disobeyed the order of the Khalsa Nation and Sri Akal Takht Sahib by taking the Saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to Vikram’s Occasions Palace, Slough in order to conduct a supposedly Sikh wedding ceremony. Guru Maharaj was placed in the middle of the dance floor with curtains attempting to cover bars and dinning areas. A number of individuals sat on chairs, already set up, during Guruji’s presence in the Banqueting Hall. In protest, three GurSikhs attended and highlighted the act of sacrilege taking place. They were successful in taking pictures of the Granthi and Ragis supporting this offensive act. This evidence has helped expose a business circle which sells Guruji as a commodity for designer weddings at hotels, pubs, clubs & banqueting halls. Links have been identified with another Gurdwara committee (Guru Granth Gurdwara-Mangat Hall), Professional wedding organisers, Banqueting Halls and Sikh bards (ragis). As it stands, this network is made up of: 1) Avtar Singh Hoonjan, President of Brent Sikh Centre, 241 Stag Lane, Kingsbury, London NW9 0EF - Tel 020 8206 1231. 2) Tarlochan Singh Grewal, President of Guru Granth Gurdwara - Mangat Hall, 45 Villers Road, Southall, Middlesex UB1 3BS 3) Satvinder Singh Sarl and Son of Harrow, Middlesex – Ragi & Granthi services (Satvinder Sarl also regularly sings bollywood songs at various venues) - Tel 07932 037522 4) Banqueting Halls around the UK such as Vikram’s Occasions Palace, Clay Oven, C&L Country Club & Laguna Banqueting Hall. 5) Professional Wedding Organisers such as Madhu’s Brilliant, Southall. This circle has been responsible for a number of blasphemous ‘Sikh’ weddings where Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji has been taken to venues where alcohol & meat are continuously served. Some websites openly advertise their ability to organise anti Sikh weddings. (http://www.vikramsoccasionspalace.com/services.html) Sri Akal Takht Sahib (Sikh Sovereignty) has issued a hukamnamma (order) in 1998 banning this practice. This network is defying Sikhism with the aim of making money, using Guruji as a commodity. Sadh Sangat we must break this network!
  8. I saw the pictures of the wedding in Vikram's and am disgusted at their shear insult to Sikhi carried out. They basically placed the Manji Sahib on the dance floor. There's people sitting on chairs arround talking. The bar is blantantly visable. If you follow the above link, you get to an enquiry form at the bottom of the Vikram's Occassions Place web page. I have filled out the form stating that they should remove their links with the (CORRUPT) Sikh Priests whom they advertise on their website and must stop allowing Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji on their premises as it is insulting to Sikh Principles This might impact if everyone else also start sending them this form with a few comm ents on them. We might as well start targeting this banqueting hall, seeing that they so openly advertise the fact that they can provide 'SIKH SERVICES'.
  9. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Latest Update from Respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Campaign: Dear Sadh Sangat Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji will not be taken to the Menzies Prince Regent Hotel in Chigwell, Essex on 3rd October 2004. The Anand Karaj has been re-scheduled to a local Gurdwara in East London. We have been blessed by Guru Maharaj and thank all who have made this possible. Please forgive us if we have offended anyone. Stay in Chardhi Kala!! GurFateh! Gurjeevan Singh :TH:
  10. This e-mail was sent out on one of the yahoo discussion e-group. It highlights the issue. Dear Sangat ji, WJKK WJKF Although I have expressed my views about the removal of the Guru Granth sahib from the library, and I have had no reaction to the suggestion that was given by me,I fully support that this event should not involve the Guru Granth Sahib,if it continues to be held at the Hotel. I know this hotel very well,as it is round the corner from where I live in gated Repton park, regular disco nights and partner seeking dances are held here.Alcohol flows abundantly, smoking is the norm: when one sees every tuesday and fridays the type of dresses(I often see this on my way from work if return around 8.30 pm and many times wondered why in the world did these women bother to dress at all)one will no doubt be left with the idea of what goes on. There is an extremely large number of Sikh houses in Chigwell.Almost 99% Sikh families living in this area are extremely rich and occupy one of the best and the most expensive area in this part of London, with large detached houses generally. Mercedes and Porsches are common sights in the drives .It may be a local family floating in money that has had the audacity to refer to the Guru Granth Sahib as a "book".I would still suggest every avenue be utilised to the erring family, to refrain from asking the Guru Granth Sahib to go to the hotel for their convenience. If they are desperate for the blessings of the GURU then THEY must go to the Guru ,not the Guru being carted here and there for them. I agree good alternatives have been suggested to the family, that if they regard this as a book, then just do with a registery wedding. If they continue to be arrogant, then the Gurduara from where the Guru Sahib is being requested to come, should take the lead to refuse to cooperate in this lowly act. Please keep the sangat informed of the developments. If I could be of assistance ,I would be most happy to support and persuade the misled family understand the gravity of the feelings of Sikhs for continuing the abuse of the Guru Sahib in hotels and bars etc.
  11. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I think its time to protest outside the Library!! The Library continue to be arrogant and unwilling to resolve this situation. Sangat Ji, please sign the postcards and the online petition.
  12. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! ms514 Thats a brilliant suggestion, do you know more on how to go about this? Who to contact etc. We can also work with Bone Marrow Trusts to improve the listing for Asians in the UK. Some really greats ideas!!
  13. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Sangat ji, it will be 20 years since the terrible Delhi Riots. We cannot let the world forget those who were killed. What should we do? In UK for June 1984 Sikhs walked the streets of London carrying 20 coffins. I would say we can do something similar outside the Indian Embassy London in Nov. Some ideas please Sangato!
  14. jsn2004 Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! All the photographer did was to highlight the issue. Dont shoot the messenger! Its the British Library at fault.
  15. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I have found this discussion forum and posted the following: http://www.managinginformation.com/Forum/i...act=ST&f=2&t=71 Please can the cyber sangat put some comments on here (constructive please!) GurFateh!
  16. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! We need to keep the pressure on. As far as I am aware the next stop for this exhibition is the V&A. We cannot let them "exhibit" Sri Dasam Granth Ji, it stops now!
  17. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Mr Singh, please post the outcome of you call. Make sure you ask for Jasleen Khandari. The number given is her direct line.
  18. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I have just received this reply from the British Library via Mr Michael O'Keefe: As you will have seen from our prompt and unequivocal decision to remove the Guru Granth Sahib manuscript from display, the British Library has no wish or intention whatsoever to cause offence to the Sikh community. We recognise the unique position of Guruship which the Guru Granth Sahib holds. Most responses from within the Sikh community which we have received to date have expressed satisfaction at our response. We have not received any widespread request to remove the Dasam Granth from display, and understand that within the Sikh community itself there is no unanimity regarding its authority and status. It should be pointed out that manuscripts of the Dasam Granth have been displayed previously, for instance in the V&A’s highly successful The Arts of the Sikh Kingdoms exhibition in 1994. Like other cultural institutions in the UK holding items relating to many world faiths, we think it important that we do continue to display materials reflecting the religious diversity of modern Britain, not least Sikhism itself. I hope after reading the above those who did not wish to involve themselves will reconsider. We need to tell the BL and other Institutions that things have to change. Gurbani is not an "artefact"! GurFateh!
  19. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Some Singhs have contacted Jasleen Khandari at BL (020 7412 7249) on behalf of Respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Campaign. Obviously not willing to comment in any way, only point she said was that all emails about this issue have been replied to - LIE! I am still waiting for a reply. What should the Library do: 1) Revoke Sri Dasam Granth Ji immediately from display 2) Revoke any other Granth that includes Gurbani from display 3) NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot understand why the BL is still continuing with this!? Cyber Sangat - you have the number. Ring as individuals and say the above points. GurFateh
  20. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! In fact a quick search by Singhs have found the following info about the equipment required for maintaining temperature control! http://www.electrotechsystems.com/environmental.asp http://www.contral.co.uk/erol.html http://www.hawco.co.uk/theories.asp?section_id=37 http://www.issltd.co.uk/acatalog/index.html
  21. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! We are going off track! Please remember that The BL is still "displaying" Sri Dasam Granth Ji in a glass cabinet. Seva which the Cyber Sangat needs to do: 1) Keep the pressure on the British Library. Its been over three days with no reply about Sri Dasam Granth Ji. We need to think of the next step. 2) Also we need to pressure the organisers: No matter how far they try do distance themselves ASHT must be involved aswell as Indrajeet Singh of NSO(inderjit.singh@gmail.com) as they have been promoting it. They must be reminded what is allowed as artefacts and what are not! They will have say to stop this "display". 3) Instead of talking why dont we do research into the actual equipment required to store Historical Guru Maharaj Saroops. How much will an air humidify cost for example and what other equipment is required? Khalsa ji, together we have combatted Alu Mushrooms, worked with Milton Keynes & Northampton Gurdwaras to stop Guruji saroops going to hotels, and received an apology from BL about the "display" of Historical saroop of Guru Maharaj. We have to resolve this issue aswell. Sri Dasam Granth Ji is Gurbani - Sikhs respect Gurbani as Waheguru's roop. GurFateh!
  22. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! We all must be agreed on the fact that Sri Dasam Granth cannot be "displayed" like this. Looking at the pictures it is personally offensive. Whatever has been allowed in the past cannot be changed. Bhai Sahib advised V&A in 1999, that does not give the Library a life long permit to "display". If it is about promoting religion then where else can Sikhism be better promoted than a Gurdwara where people will understand the whole concept how Sikhs worship Gurbani. This saroop of Sri Dasam Granth includes some paintings of the Gurus. Its a promotion of art only. We must continue the pressure on the British Library.
  23. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Below is a response from Jeevan Deol about how Guru Maharaj is "stored" in the Library: Vahiguruji ka Khalsa, Vahiguruji ki Fateh. As far as I know, the copies of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at the British Library are kept in a high-security environment with the appropriate standard of temperature and humidity controls according to world-class standards for preservation of manuscripts. This is sadly not the case at all institutions, particularly for example in India, where poor storage conditions and climate are very often putting the preservation of our heritage--and indeed a scripture intended for all humankind--at risk. I know of very sad cases in major gurdwaras where old saroops have been kept in sacks in the room used to store firewood for the langar or where they receive so little attention and care that they are infested with ants. I am sure that you would find these cases as sad and heart-breaking as I have. Yours, Jeevan Deol The removal of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is just the first step. As GurSa Singh has pointed out there the following issues to resolve: 1) Revoke Sri Dasam Granth Ji on "display" currently in the Library exhibition. 2) How many saroops of Guru Granth Sahib Ji & Sri Dasam Granth Ji does the British Library have? 3) Is the storage highlighted by Jeevan Deol satisfactory? What about daily prakash and maryada? 4) Put pressure for Guruji's saroops to be looked after by a UK Gurdwara which will give respect & allow Sikhs to have darshan (in accordance to BL's requirements). Pressure from individuals will bring fruit and with Guruji's kirpa Sikhs will have darshan of historical Saroops of Guruji, currently kept in vaults at the Library. Contact the following: Chief-Executive@bl.uk (Lynne Brindley) Jasleen.Kandhari@bl.uk Graham.Shaw@bl.uk also hsr@asht.info (Harbinder Singh Rana - ASHT who organise these exhibitions in conjunction with BL) Dhan Dhan Guru Granth Sahib Ji. GurFateh!
  24. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I would assume the historical saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj is kept in the vaults of the British Library. I will try to find out. We must keep the pressure for the Library to revoke the "display" of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib aswell. Sikhiji please can you still post the pictures of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib.
  25. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Just received this email freom Jeevan Deol: Waheguru ka Khalsa Waheguruji ki Fateh. Thank you for your email. I am afraid that I am not fully aware of the situation to which you refer. I am not connected with the running of the British Library or its displays, and was not consulted about this particular exhibition. Had I been consulted, I would obviously have advised against putting a manuscript of Sri Guru Granth Sahibji on display for precisely the reasons you have lain out. I'm afraid that I have not seen the Sikh display and do not know its contents--or which manuscripts have been put out. I would be very sad indeed if a copy of Sri Guru Granth Sahibji were to have been included among them. I would advise that you keep in touch with the British Library on this matter--particularly the curator of the display--as they are responsible for their own exhibitions. Yours, Jeevan S. Deol. Whats going on? Have The British Library asked anyones advice???
