  4. Source: Jatha Shaheedan Facebook page Jagmohan Singh was shot dead today morning by Jihadi Terrorists in Peshawar (Pakistan). 2 more Sikhs, Manmit Singh and Param Singh were also injured in the attack and are in critical condition. Police officials said that the attack occurred at a busy marketplace in Hashtnagari area of Peshawar when members of the Sikh community had just opened their respective shops.
  5. PESHAWAR: Members of the Sikh community in Peshawar came under attack on Wednesday, with one killed and two injured in a firing incident. Following the attack, protestors took to the streets and burnt tyres blocking roads including the grand Trunk (GT) road in Peshawar. The demonstrators chanted slogans against what they said was the government's failure to protect members of minority communities and demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the attack. The protestors tried to approach the Chief Minister's House but were stopped by security. Later the demonstrators headed towards the Governor's House. Police officials said unidentified armed men opened fire at members of the Sikh community when they were at Shabab market in the Hashtnagri area. DawnNews reported that Jasmot Singh, Bahram Singh and Manmit Singh were attacked when they were at their respective shops in the market. The victims were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital immediately after the attack, where one died. Negotiations between members of the Sikh community and the administration was also underway. A large number of protestors shifted the body of the deceased Sikh man to GT Road and demanded that the government give them security. One member said that this is not the first time the community has been attacked and that the government should tell them an alternative if it cannot give them security. After a number of kidnappings from among the Sikh community in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and other tribal areas, some members have decided to wind up their shops in KP and relocate to Rawalpindi. In a report published earlier this week, one Sikh man Saroop Singh said, Hasanabdal is a much safer place for the Sikhs to live, as it is one of our holiest sites. Our families feel much secure there, living among other Sikhs in Gurdwara Punja Sahib. Peshawar is not safe, said Singh. http://www.dawn.com/news/1123648/gunmen-shoot-at-sikh-men-in-peshawar-market-one-dead
  6. This topic reminds me of a chat that was viral on Facebook a few years ago between a Muslim guy and an Amritdhari Singhnee. The dude asked "Can you marry a Muslim?". She replied "Of course, all he needs to do is take Amrit".

  8. Its not chunks, those are Shabads, divine holy words that have the status of Guru for us Sikhs. Watch your mouth next time! This trashes your entire argument. The fact that you are a staunch Hindu and she being a Sikh and from a Sikh family agreed to have a Hindu ceremony shows those guys were far from Sikhi to begin with. We are honestly least concerned who these kind of folks get married to. Yes they may be very nice and decent folks, and may Vaheguru bless them, but its not easy being a Sikh, its a game of life and death. And yea, falling in love? What kind of love is that? Vaheguru's love is what raises a person, it doesn't make him/her fall. No thanks, our Guru does not reside in pictures, our Guru is Gurbani, Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. I dare you to try putting up pictures and idols next to a saroop of Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji in a Gurughar! According to Gurbani all deities bow at the feet of Guru Sahib. So if you want to ask about problems, dude, you'll be having a problem with your own deities coz they're gonna be pissed off at you for placing them at a level equal to that of Guru Sahib. Look, perhaps you ended up on the wrong forum. Go find yourself a Bollywood Punjabi sort of place where its considered cool for Sikhs marrying non-Sikhs. As per Bollywood Punjabis it might be fine, not according to Sikhi. No one is fueling any hate here. What is wrong is wrong. Without meaning any disrespect, you, your Hindu family, your Sikh wife and her Sikh family had no problem in you guys getting married the Hindu way. Fair enough, it was a choice all you folks made. It does NOT mean it was the right thing to do. No one is twisting Guru Sahib's words, He is very clear. Gurbani is not against any religion, only in favor of the truth. And what disharmony are you talking about mister? Lets not forget, it was the Sikh raaj which ensured freedom of religion for Sikhs and non-Sikhs alike, and it has been the Hindu raaj which has been responsible for all the grievances the Sikh qaum has against India. Power vs love? Sorry sir, in case you didn't know, these go hand in hand for us Sikhs. We are saint-soldiers. First we talk the language of love. But if the other side is adamant against peace, thats when we use power. So don't try to preach love to us. Go read about all the Shaheediyaan which Sikhs have given, all for love, and yes, a love much more profound than that "love" you both "fell" in.
  9. OZONE PARK (WABC) -- After a terrifying minute and a half, married father of two, Sandeep Singh was nearly killed Wednesday morning outside of his office on 99th Street in Ozone Park. Sandeep is now in critical condition at the hospital. Baldey Singh was with Sandeep when he was hit by a pickup truck, and only talked to Eyewitness News. The two men were wrapping up their evening, had just finished dinner and were saying goodbye. As they were standing in the street, the driver of a white pickup pulls up. "We just crossed in front of his car, he then slowed down," says Baldey. Baldey says the drive then yelled a racial slur at him and his friends. Sandeep was annoyed, and with his hand, hit the truck. The driver pulled forward, stopped, and then got out of the vehicle, holding something in his hand. Baldey says that at that point, they were concerned, afraid, and felt threatened. More heated words were exchanged, and the driver got back in his truck. However, Sandeep didn't want to let it go, wanted the man to stop, and wanted to call police. The 29-year-old then stepped in front of the pickup truck. The driver hit the gas, and ran right over Sandeep. Sandeep was dragged roughly 30 feet down 101st Avenue. His body finally came loose from the truck, which kept on going. A man named Tony ran to help. "The fact that I see the way the guy dragged him, the guy has no heart, seriously - he's heartless," says Tony, "He was like 'I can't breathe,' he was all slashed up and cut - there was a lot of blood." 10. NEW DELHI: A lethal women commando squad trained in Filipino martial art and capable of neutralizing a threat using innocuous objects like pen or hairpin would now patrol coaches and stations of Delhi Metro to ensure safety of passengers, especially women. A team of 25 young commandos has been trained by the central security force CISF in 'Pekiti-Tirsia Kali' (PTK), which originated decades ago in Philippines and is a close- quarter unarmed combat skill used to take on multiple opponents at one time by using obscure objects usually worn on the body. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) MD Mangu Singh on Friday commissioned the first batch of the highly motivated CISF troops after they finished their 50-day rigorous training which till now has only been imparted to the special units of the Army or NSG commandos. This is the first time such a training has been imparted to women security personnel in the country. "DMRC and CISF are totally committed for passenger security in the Delhi Metro especially that of women. These women commandos will surely add to the confidence of the passengers and women travelling in the Metro," Singh told reporters at the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) training facility here. The instructors of these specially chosen women who are under under 30 years of age said they have been trained to tactically use common objects pen, hairpin, cap, belt, shoe laces, keys and sandals as deadly weapons to take on rogue elements. "These women have been given training in this special martial art as this ensures less harm to the suspect and he or she is neutralized quickly. In sensitive cases, we need the suspect alive so that he can be interrogated for further leads. These women personnel would patrol Metro stations and coaches," CISF Inspector General (North) H V Chaturvedi said during the event. Chaturvedi said the force, which is tasked to secure all the Delhi Metro stations, will deploy these women in civil dress as well as in uniform and also as part of its quick reaction teams during crisis situation scenarios in the mass rapid transport system which witnesses an average footfall of 26 lakh passengers every day. "This is the first batch of our special women commandos. We will be training more of them and deploying them in the Delhi Metro," the IG said. During their demonstration, the women exhibited how they could use shoe laces to make an attacker surrender and other skills. DMRC MD Singh said such transport systems face a variety of problems and challenges like crowd control, and frisking issues but the agency was "fully committed" to women empowerment and safety and hence such a step was a welcome one. Singh also announced a cash prize of Rs 50,000 for the batch. CISF officers said women were chosen over their male counterparts for this tough training as this will also help them to secure themselves when they travel back to their barracks alone after finishing late duty hours in the DMRC. The PTK technique is used to train commando units and special forces in 60 countries. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/City/Delhi/Elite-women-commandos-to-secure-Delhi-Metro/articleshow/39425593.cms
  11. LAHORE: Law enforcement agencies were directed on Thursday to tighten security at Hindu and Sikh temples and shrines. A circular issued by the Internal Security Wing of the Ministry of Interior informed police officials that a letter from the Shrines Wing of the Evacuee Trust Property Board reported of regular terrorist threats against Hindu and Sikh religious places. Officials said that a number of shrines and temples were vulnerable to attacks and had routinely featured in terrorist hit lists. The ministry instructed police to ensure fool proof security for minority religious places in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Nankana Sahib. Police officials were also directed to finalise detailed security plans to ensure the safety of Hindu and Sikh pilgrims from foreign countries. 12. I have not read or even seen the Vedas, and I am at no level to fully comprehend agaadh bodh Gurbani. So I cannot really compare. But I think the problem arises when we use terms like "compatible", "sharing" etc. anything that tries to put forth an impression that Gurbani and the Vedas propagate the same message. This is not really in accordance with what Bhai Gurdas ji said, "Nanak Nirmal Panth Chalaya". I've come across many Hindus and even some shameless Sikhs who go to the extent of even saying that the Guru Sahibaan did not start anything new, and they say it solely based on their own created myth that the message in Gurbani was already contained in Vedas and Upanishads. Again, when we say that certain portions of the Vedas are "similar" to Gurbani, and others, i.e. karam kaand sections are not, we give these guys another chance to claim (which they already do) that the Gurus "picked and chose" pre-existing gyaan to start Sikhi. Muslims then find things from the Quran and claim those to be similar to certain Shabads in Gurbani, and this is when we find the distorted notion that Sikhi is a mix of Hindu and Islamic philosophies. I guess other brothers/sisters on here have read the Vedas? I am interested to know if there is anything in them that resounds the message of the following Shabad:
  13. Now, men ape langurs in Lutyens’ Delhi NEW DELHI: Men are now into monkey business in Lutyens' Delhi. About 40 trained youths have been pressed into service to disguise as langurs — even screech like the simians — and scare away monkeys from the VVIP zone. These men are summoned by the New Delhi Municipal Council to spots, including the Parliament House, that come under the siege of monkeys. The 'langurs' suddenly appear from behind bushes and trees to drive away the simians through sounds and gestures. On Thursday, urban development minister M Venkiah Naidu acknowledged through a written reply in Rajya Sabha that men have been posing as langurs to keep the monkey menace in check. According to NDMC sources, the practice started after real langurs were barred from being kept in captivity. By all accounts, the human 'langurs' have proved to be effective in their new role. NDMC sources said the men are paid Rs 700-800 per 'visit' and have not been hired permanently. They get work for around 10-15 days a month, earning anywhere between Rs 7000 to 10,000. They have even been hired by RWAs in the area. In another strategy to keep monkeys within the forested areas, NDMC has started paying Rs 1.2 lakh every month to the forest department for procuring food for the animals. "The department places chickpeas, vegetables and fruits at different spots in the ridge on S P Marg so that the resident monkeys don't have to come out in search of food," NDMC chairman Jalaj Srivastava said. "We signed this agreement with forest department about 15 days back. We took this step considering that the ridge doesn't have fruit bearing trees," he added. NDMC sources said while it would take time for all monkeys in the area to return to the ridge, the 'langur men' would continue to do their job. These men are also armed with rubber bullets to drive away the simians. Until last year, Delhi's streets were patrolled by actual langurs. But because of change in law in November 2012 this practice ended. "These young men have trained themselves to pose as langurs. We have no option but to hire them because, as per law, even an officer who calls for langur and its master to drive away monkeys can be booked and jailed," said a senior official. Monkeys, often moving in large groups foraging for food, pose a threat to people in the high security zone housing central government ministries. "We are no more using air guns to scare away monkeys. Only rubber bullets are used. We also use electric strips which give out a minor shock to animals when they touch them. The monkeys are only stunned, not harmed in any other way. We are taking all possible steps to address the concerns of all parties and trying to ensure that monkeys stay inside the ridge," Srivastava said. He added that NDMC was also considering issuing challans to those who keep bananas and other fruits on the roadside for monkeys to feed on. Naidu also said that a team of dog catchers visits the Parliament House and surrounding areas twice a week for catching stray dogs are haven't been immunized or sterilized. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/Now-men-ape-langurs-in-Lutyens-Delhi/articleshow/39380970.cms
  14. Gaza City (CNN) -- The Israeli military said Thursday that it is calling up 16,000 additional reservists, bolstering its forces for its fight against Hamas in Gaza after a request for more ammunition from the United States. The addition brings the total number of reservists Israel has called up since the beginning of the operation against Hamas to 86,000, a military spokeswoman said. The conflict has killed more than 1,300 people in Gaza, most of them civilians. Fifty-six Israeli soldiers have been killed. The incessant attacks and counterattacks are taking a terrible toll on Gazans. More than 219,000 Palestinians are packed into 86 shelters across Gaza, the U.N. said. That equals about 12% of all of Gaza's population. Clean water is inaccessible for most. And some 3,600 people have lost their homes. full news: http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/31/world/meast/mideast-crisis/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

  16. UP cops say Saharanpur riots were well-planned Certain aspects of the Saharanpur clashes indicate meticulous planning by the rioters who had a singular agenda of dividing the Sikhs and Muslims in the western Uttar Pradesh district. IG, Meerut Zone, Alok Sharma confirmed that the clashes were "pre-planned". "The riot was preplanned. The way the firing was done and shops were burnt indicate many possibilities...We are investigating all angles," he said. The role of the civil and police administration is also under the scanner as the armed rioters had a free hand for nine hours till 4 pm on Saturday before the lathi-wielding policemen dispersed the mob. ADG, Telecom, Devendra Singh Chauhan admitted that the local administration could have prevented the riots if decisions were taken promptly. "The district magistrate and the senior superintendent of police are expected to take prompt decisions in such situation. The violence could have been averted if action was initiated at the proper time," Chauhan, who has been sent to Saharanpur as special observer, said. The ADG said the rioters have been identified and police teams have been constituted to arrest them. The culprits will be booked under the stringent National Security Act, Chauhan added. The rioters had a well-chalked plan as they first set ablaze the firebrigade office and fire tenders, crippling the department from carrying out any relief work. They then carried out looting and arson at the Ambala Road. "Some rioters were lighting Molotov cocktails and throwing them inside the shops. Despite repeated requests to impose curfew in the city, the police kept saying till 4 pm that they didn't receive any order to stop the people from gathering. Over 4,000 people had assembled at Ambala Road by 10 am. They were increasingly getting violent," cloth trader Harvinder Singh, whose shop was torched, claimed. Interestingly, the disputed plot was never a major issue for the two communities until recently. The Sikhs claimed the Muslims had claimed their rights over the plot after they bought it four years ago. Though the Muslims claimed that the plot was a Waqf property, they could not prove the same in a minority commission. Later, they had withdrawn their claim over the plot and it was finally handed over to the Sikhs. Since then, it was a non-issue for the two communities. The construction work was started there a year ago without any opposition from the other side, the Sikh community claimed. But all of a sudden, some people objected to the construction by Sri Guru Singh Sabha and violence erupted on Saturday. Locals also claimed that some motorcycle-borne masked men were indiscriminately firing at whosoever standing on their way, suggesting that they wanted to spread terror among the people for stopping construction at the plot. "We saw two masked men on a motorcycle who were firing at the passers-by in Ghantaghar area," Sanjeev Bhandari, whose shop was set on fire at Ambala Road, said. Prior to the clashes on Saturday, Saharanpur had last witnessed communal violence in December 1992 when the Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya. read the rest here: http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/saharanpur-clashes-pre-planned-eid-curfew-police-administration/1/374710.html
  17. I guess Bhagat Naamdev jee made the decision already: ਹਿੰਦੂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਤੁਰਕੂ ਕਾਣਾ ॥ The Hindu is sightless; the Muslim has only one eye. I guess you guys can translate/interpret it the way you want to?
  18. By the way, about 2 weeks ago in Boston we had Sikhs protesting against Israel for killing Palestinians, and few days ago we saw Sikhs start a petition asking President Obama to refuse Modi entry into US as he was responsible for the massacre of 3000 Muslims in Gujarat. I have already seen a number of opinions and videos on Facebook claiming these Saharanpur clashes to be a conspiracy hatched by the Hindutva forces. Either we are still not aware as to who our real friends and real enemies are, or we fail to categorize who is our worst enemy, i.e. on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst enemy, where would you place Hindus and where would you place Muslims?
  19. All said and done, the next step should be to try and help our fellow Sikhs who have been hit, both physically and financially. This is the time to use our Dasvand for their seva, whatever bit we can do to help them at this point to come back on their feet and not have to become dependent. It was very much hurting to see them financially devastated. One was a Sikh who had moved back from Manchester, UK and started a tire business less than an year ago, his shop was raised to the ground. I will be honest, it was quite painful to see Sikh men and women in fear and literally begging for security, especially when deep down in your heart you see the Khalsa as the protector of the weak. But lets be honest, any human being, who for no fault of his/her, is all of a sudden attacked in his/her home and has his/her business set on fire, he/she would react the same way. There is a video on Youtube where Zee News has investigated this matter and claimed that this was pre-planned, based on the fact that (a.) the cops refused to assist the Sikhs saying they had no orders to help, and (b.) the fire department office was set on fire prior to burning the shops, thus ensuring that no one could help the Sikhs by putting out the fires. Then there is another where a Singh threatens retaliation:

  21. Bihari Essay "Indian Cow" (PLS GO THROUGH THIS!!) You'll forget your English by the time you finish reading this. This is a true essay written by a Bihari candidate at the UPSC Examinations. The candidate has written an essay on the Indian cow: Indian Cow HE IS THE COW. "The cow is a successful animal. Also he is 4 footed, And because he is female, he give milks, [ but will do so when he is got child.] He is same like-God, sacred to Hindus and useful to man. But he has got four legs together. Two are forward and two are afterwards. His whole body can be utilised for use. More so the milk. Milk comes from 4 taps attached to his basement. [ horses dont have any such attachment] What can it do? Various ghee, butter, cream, curd, why and the condensed milk and so forth. Also he is useful to cobbler, watermans and mankind generally. His motion is slow only because he is of lazy species, Also his other motion.. gober] is much useful to trees, plants as well as for making flat cakes[like Pizza] , in hand and drying in the sun. Cow is the only animal that extricates his feeding after eating. Then afterwards she chew with his teeth whom are situated in the inside of the mouth. He is incessantly in the meadows in the grass. His only attacking and defending organ is the horns, specially so when he is got child. This is done by knowing his head whereby he causes the weapons to be paralleled to the ground of the earth and instantly proceed with great velocity forwards. He has got tails also, situated in the backyard, but not like similar animals. It has hairs on the other end of the other side. This is done to frighten away the flies which alight on his cohesive body hereupon he gives hit with it. The palms of his feet are soft unto the touch. So the grasses head is not crushed. At night time have poses by looking down on the ground and he shouts . His eyes and nose are like his other relatives. This is the cow....... We are informed that the candidate somehow passed the exam, and is now is bihar in somewhere..[sorry somewhere in Bihar]
