  1. I have a documentary where Khushwant Singh describes Sant Bhindranwala as "Fighting back like a tiger".....I think he just calls is as he see's it. No need to insult him though folks!!!
  2. Khushwant Singh is prolific writer but not a Historian. I'm an amateur historian, and I can easily pick massive holes in his historical writings. A professional historian like Grewal would eat him for breakfast. He is intelligent, and not a GOI Agent. Some of his books really have portrayed Sikhs in a good light. To note, before 1984 many Sikhs supported Congress (including my family).....but the death of my relative in the riots changed all that. I think Khushwant Singh became less sympathetic after 1984 towards the GOI. Like all of us he has his good points and bad points. PS On a side note his grandfather was a First World War pilot ace......Hardit Singh Malik I think his name is.
  3. Sya generally is difficult for the body to assimilate as a protein. You are better of with dairy based protein products like Whey etc. As a vegetarian you will have to suppplement heavily with the full chain of amino's.
  4. You can be toned and fit......and lean and muscular and be strong. At times of war people rely of the swift horse and not the lumbering oxe. Aim to make your body strong and fast.
  5. Yeah rite Bandha whatever you say. No dodgy ground. Call it intutuition.......but I'm willing to lay my life you are skinny and pretty weedy. No worries....you can turn it around by learning martial arts and hitting the Gym.
  6. Dearest Bundha ji...I have no need to take steroids. Waheguru has blessed me with the family traits that prizes physical and mental prowess as essential for following the Sikh Code. BTW is this not you: http://forums.waheguroo.com/Muscles-And-Strength-t15140.html asking how to develop your skinny weedy body? Carry on...make fun of Sikhs that intend to follow the Sant Siphahi ideal and develop their bodies..........people like you don't wish to develop your own physiques yet mock those who do............people like you deserve to be bullied and prove my point! As for falling "the hardest"....I have fallen many a time, but have learned with the grace of Waheguru to pick myself up again........experiencing my turban being ripped off and being severly beaten by mobs of white to an inch of my life just made me even more determined. It also made me determined to encourage fellow Sikhs to develop their martials skils and physiques. It also told me to ignore people like you with skinny bodies and pot bellies. :D
  7. Ironic, how it was you who wanted to pump your chest up Budha and asked for advice another Sikh website for how to do it? Maybe you are lacking down there too? Btw the person mentioned here from Leeds is not you....you are quite easy to deal with in term of fact and figures and Sikh History. Its a cowardly fanatical fool who posts here I am refering to. Again, Bundha, make fun of the fact that young Sikhs are being bullied and pushed around because they do not have he ability to stand up for themselves. Instead of making sarcastic comments, be honest with yourslef and recall all the incidents where you have been harassed and bullied because of your appearance. If you had a well built frame and knew how to fight would that have happened. You said to me one "walk the walk instead of talking the talk"........my challenge to you is are you walking the walk. Can you say you are a Sant and a Siphahi? Can you say you have the Physique and strength of a warrior? I can...can you?
  8. Alcohol is a big no no for Sikhs. Meat at the Gurudwara again a big no no. However, the conduct of people like Ubhi and co, is a big no no TOO! Vote them out. Use democratic means. ........to resort to violence and beat up old men is out of order. Why can't these brave Singh's stand up to outsider's when they make fun of their turban's, and attack them? Then they run like cowards.
  9. Guru Gobind Singh ji said: When All Other Means have been exhausted it may be justified to draw the sword You exhausted all the other means, and then drew the sword. You did good. Nothing to be ashamed about. Too bad more Sikhs don't stand up for themselves.
  10. Ermm Pyara....what are you talking about? Do you realise how serious the issue of young Sikhs being bullied and picked on is? The humiliation Sikhs face on a daily basis. We are partly to blame for that, because we don't develop our bodies or our martial skills. All we seem good for is beating up old men in Leamington Spa. What lions we are hey? I for one have always walked with my head up high. Always maintained my body and always boxed and done martial arts. Now if you think saying comments like "lol...have u kids got no homework to do..." is adding value to what is going on, then carry on, and bury your had in the sand. Keep getting bullied, humiliated and ridiculed. Until our Sikhs start acting like Sant Siphahi's rather than talking about it and living in La La Land, we are doomed. We are a disgrace to our ancestors. For the record I'm a young professional Sikh....and wo betide anyone who make fun of my Sikh heritage let alone attack me. Come on mate....since when has society been fair to Sikhs. Sikhs have had to fight to create a fair society. Its easy to point the finger at Christians, Muslims and Hindu's....but what about us? How are we emulating the warrior saint ideals of Sikhism? Lets sort ourselves out first................create unity....ditch the Sant/Jatha's, develop our minds and bodies....become men and women of steel................then we will see who will be unfair to us!!! :D
  11. On a totally different note. Much as it pains me to see a fellow Sikh being attacked, but I can't help thinking we are doing enough to prevent it. :D Sat there waiting for the interview I thought the Sikh fellow interviewed maybe well built and capable of defending himself. What I saw, was a skinny little man with a pot belly, and a HUGE turban. I felt like crying..........we are meant to be SAINT SOLDIERS, not Saint Wimps. If we cannot even develop our bodies and learn martial arts then we deserve to be pushed around. And the response of this fellow "I will use my Kirpan".......well news for you buddy that would not be considered self defence. My question is why do most Amritdhari's look like skinny wrecks with pot bellies?.......I can think of one in particular who live in Leeds and is a cyber warrior.
  12. Turn it around and reply to this instead :D http://www.faithfreedom.org/forum/viewtopi...p=619094#619094
  13. Once you know enough transliteration then when you read the Gurmukhi you undersand. I read transliteration forat least a year. ( I still will with Jaap Sahib for a while though :D ) When I read the literation then I can get Paath done quicker if I needed to, but when I read the Gurmukhi I feel like I accomplished alot within a couple years. Im still learning, and you gotta start somewhere, right? After a while I wont need the literation at all, and then I will have a slight majority of the translations (basic translation) so then I will only read from authentic Gutkas like a couple that I have. Translitration may help some get their Paath done quicker.....but what I am tlking about is deep understand behind Bani.....breaking down the words and thoughts and motivations of the Guru's. Why the Guru'sonly included some of the sayings by the Bhaghtas and not others? etc etc....I could go on. But if we are doing Paath just for the sake of it then we are no better than those Mullahs GuruNanak ridiculed when they asked him to prey with him.....they wanted to get their prayer out of the way fast.....because their mind was elsewhere...........Prayer is about relection and deep analuysis of the words that you are saying in prayer and what they mean!! :TH:

  15. I have a question before we even start this debate. The notion of Sin is a Semitic one. Does Sikhism believe in this concept? I think not. I think the Kaam, Krodh, Moh, Lobh, and Hankaar, are not refered to as sin, but are refred to as thieves, and their is a specific reason why. Any thoughts?
  16. Actually Pritam and Lionchild have a point. Sikhism is a Universal faith and should not be restricted to any colour, creed, tribe, gender or LANGUAGE! One thing I would say is that there are translation available of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji in English and other languages.....but one has to be mindful of some translator who get the words wrong and some who deliberately mistranslates (usually Derawala's). A good example of this is the word "Bismil" translated as Kill. This word does not mean Kill at all but is used as an incantation by Muslims when they perform the Halaal sacrifice or purification (as they call it). So Bismil means in effect sacrifice. Important BUT subtle meaning difference. Translitration is OK too.......so an understanding of words in tanslitration is OK.
  17. Tabla No Punjabi or the Gurmukhi script is useful - however note understanding Punjabi and the format that the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is written in is completely different.
  18. Bandha, that IS the caste system that you have stated. Hindu's believe exactly that? Sikhism I think believes people are born with a blank slate. Hinduism belives that you were born like that because of past good, or misdeeds. I think the starting point should be to define Kamra before moving onto birth and rebiths etc. Karma is the basis of the caste system. Your past deeds/misdeeds (Karams) define what caste you will be born. Is not Hukam like the order or edict of God. Karam is the results from (or not) following that edict?
  19. 38..... no Mandeep....you are a baby!!
  20. If we believe in Karma then we believe in the caste system, because your caste status is based on yours "Karam's"? Oh Okay. I did not know that, I appreciate your respone. Although, I always thought the "what goes around, comes around" concept was applied to when it came to "Karma." :D @ No brother.....I am just asking the question.......I just want to understand what people's thinking is behind Karma in Sikhism.
  21. thats a hindu concept. so we don't believe in Karam's? ...and people whoo say Sikh's believe in Karams are Hindu's?
  22. NO!! only idiots who believe in Sant-Mat do this!
  23. My God...what is it with some people? Guess what the glass is not half empty but is half full.......going to Sikhi camp is better than going boozing....or beating up old men in Leamington Spa. Is this site turning into a fanatics site?
  24. If we believe in Karma then we believe in the caste system, because your caste status is based on yours "Karam's"?
  25. The article said he looked nervous and his hands were perpiriing....he looked very calm to me......is this the same debate reported in "Panthic" Weekly?
