  1. That's fantastic news if Pakistan are going ahead with this but what are their motives behind it? How are the Pakistan government going sort out all issues related to the welfare of Sikhs living at Panja Sahib?
  2. isingh1699 ji, I apologise for the misunderstanding. This is not the Sikh way, this has nothing to do with the Sikh way of life. This is a lot to blame on family cultures that have been passed on from family to family.
  3. they seem to pretend to be unaware of sikh culture and want to copy gutter habits of western culture? First GPS ji, Sikh culture? There's is no such thing as Sikh culture. Sikh faith is a philosophy to reach enlightenment and to be one with God. Culture is no part of this philosophy. This has nothing to do with cultures but a women who is more interested in what others are going to think and going to the extremes to justify her way of thinking. You can call this Punjabi culture or any other culture but western culture this is not.
  4. Raising their children the Sikh way? Stupid punjabis? The mother in law was a full on Sikh. She was even respected by the Sikh elders.
  5. Early life of a human, did we marry? Was there even a concept of marriage? Ok, lets look at this from a pure Sikh view by observing the Anand Karaj, I have read the 4 Laava, not once it mentions about a love between a Man and a Women. It goes even deeper than the physical appearance, 4 Laava talks about the connection of two souls and surrendering yourself to Aakaal. Then this comes back to our leaders who run the Sikh bodies, all village folk. Majority of decisions that are made by them are on cultural base and this will have an impact on their interpretation of the scriptures.
  6. As God has designed all beings in the universe and Animals live in hukum, animals don’t have free will. So why is there homosexual behaviour within over 1500 non human species? http://news.nationalgeographic.co.uk/news/2004/07/0722_040722_gayanimal.html
  7. Can you explain in more detail. I apologise for not understanding but what do you mean by "it is the anti-thesis of sikhi to have 'laws' aka corporate codes upheld by force that stop people from being them." ? I think you have a powerful statement, you just need to explain in more detail.
  8. What is the true role of akal takht jathedar, badal sahib? akal takht jathedar - Currently a religious body not political. Does the current Akkal thakat Jathedar have enough knowledge to control the countries ecomony, knowledge regarding trade, building infrastructure to support current & future technologies. Setting up support to help the thousands of poor people, who currently exist within Punjab. Badal Sahib - The leader of Shiromani Akali Dal, you serious? As you have no idea about gurmat, or what sikhi is As I have no Idea so please help me, like I said earlier, where can I get this information from. SGGS helps me in my spiritual life and my personal goal towards Aakaal but running a country, sorry have I missed something? I think you either need to go back to the hindu forums, or head to the library (gurughurr). I have been civil in my discussion so expect you to be the same.
  9. Sarbat, I fully agree with what you trying to achieve but in reality can this be achieved? I don’t think so, the Sikh religion and it's supporting religious body is run by uneducated village folk, who are homophobic to the core. How can they pass such ruling?
  10. Will it? We can't even run a simple Gurdwara as one community. How are Sikhs going to run Punjab and even if Punjab gets it's independence how do we know 100% it will be run as a Sikh state. The majority of the people may not want the country to be run as a Sikh state. I think people do not really know what they want out of independence, no one has really understood about the economy and how Punjab can compete at a global scale. Where is the money going to come from to improve infrastructure and future development Punjab is not like Saudi Arabia, where it has huge amount of natural resource like oil. Punjab has no natural resource and even the land has been exhausted by over farming. So the other option we have is foreign investment, how are we going to attract foreign investment into Punjab?
  11. Sikhi is a way of life in which 'politics' are ingrained. Thats why we have a sikh bank, sarbar khalsa etc. Are they? I apologise for any misunderstanding but where is it? I think all of these questions are redundant as a system is already in place to use. As a religion "YES" but we are talking about running a country and economy. Election is anti-gurmat as it makes people fight for no reason, and results in corruption. Selection, is our way. So Punjab will be a communist state, who will select these leaders if not by vote from the people. This selection, thats more open to corruption.
  12. Veeray, I completely agree with you regrading people brain washed under generations biased political propaganda and in some ways I agree Punjab will need to be an independent state. The problem arises, when we are looking for political leaders. Many have mentioned, we should allow Punj pyaray to take control but we know the role of Punj pyaray is to be divine and help as guides on path to God. Would we need separate Punj pyaray as political leaders, who are politicly aware of what is required to run the country?
  13. Ok, so who's going to fund the running of the country? The Vatican is funded by the catholic people, the largest religion in the world.
  14. Well, some people may see him as a freedom fighter others may see him as a terrorist. We can't make a judgment on this person, till we hear both sides of the story. Media will influence your decision on how the news is reported, if this person is made to look like a criminal, the majority will perceive him as one. The incidents of 1984, many Sikhs were seen as terrorists but some saw them as freedom fighters. This is the issue with extremism, it just generates psychopaths.
  15. Based on my opinion. David Cameron will not bother over issues that matter the Sikhs within India. It's clearly outlined in his agenda, Prime minster is only in India to strengthen the trade agreements and India to sign the contracts regarding the Euro fighter (Fighter plane). The issue we have currently with the Sikh majority in India and rest of the world, Sikhs are seen as a nuisance and terrorists. Yes, Sikhs do need stamp on these issues, which have been going around for years. These issues have not been moved forward because the Sikh organisations lack any political route. As a Sikh community, we seem to ignorant in supporting Manmohan Singh, which is a great downfall. Sikhs need to understand, Manmohan Singh runs a country of billion people, which includes different races and religions. As a leader to vast country, there can be no indication of being bias towards a particular race or religion. Then we have to understand, India is a majority Hindu country and Sikhs are a minority. Sikhs will not rectify the current issues till Sikhs differentiate between political issues and religious power.
  16. Richard Dawkins is an Atheist, he does not believe in a concept of GOD. Sikh religion has a belief of a God like being, the creator of the universe. Where Richard Dawkins would question, did God create us or did we create God.
  17. Seriously, if you are not happy with your wife and you think you can do better? Divorce her. Instead ruining her and your lives . This will only lead you to have affairs. If you have no children, then talk to her and tell her this relationship is finished. At the end of the day you will do what you want to do and no one on this forum can change that. Even if you do divorce her, it's part of God's doing any way. Rehrass Slok Mahalla 1. Dukh daru sukh rog bhia ja sukh tam na hoi. Tun Karta karna mai nahi ja hau kari na hoi.. Balihari kudrt vasia. Tera Ant na jai lakhia.
  18. The future of war is going to be very different to the previous wars we have seen in history. World war 1 & 2 were wars that were fought on battle fields, soldiers and guns. The future war will be very different. Technology will come into play, some academics will even say, we are in the middle of a 3rd world war and it’s fought with technology and tactics. War is a very brutal game, many civilians are killed, the impact on the world economy is immense and recovery from these scenarios in some cases is none. The governments would not want to walk the same path as they did in the previous wars and with nuclear arsenal available, well do I need to say more. Nuclear warfare is not an option, there is too much to lose. A country invading another, it would be cost effective to keep the infrastructure in place and resource easily accessible. The issue we would have with a nuclear explosions, are the after effects and the land being not hospitable for 10’s or 100’s of years so there is nothing to gain from the invading country. No disrespect to people who have quoted Saints and Holy men but I have always disagreed with many of these predictions. During my Grandfather’s childhood, he was told by a famous Holy man, the world will change for the worse in his life time and many people will die. Well people, what can I say. My Grandfather passed away 10 years ago and yes many people have died but don’t many die anyway? That’s not the future, it would be same as if I said “The economy will be very poor next year and many young people will out of work”. Is it not just stating the obvious? You don’t not need a Holy man or a Saint to tell you what the future is going to hold. You just need to watch the news and make up your own judgement. You will create whatever is in your subconscious and it’s not hard for mind to paint this picture of the future

    Big Mistake

You had to put your two pence worth, didn’t you. This person may have come on this forum for council. Is this not what we lack as a Sikh community advice and support? He’s already has stated he feels low and by you posting you rubbish doesn’t help the case. Well, you have shown some real maturity. To the poster, ignore people with maturity level of an early teen.
  20. wat do u mean "so" many sikhs are converting? you mean like on the scale of africa where 6million ppl leave islam every year? I can guarentee you ppl leave sikhi because they havn't bothered reading about the sikh religion in the first place, n when these uneducated sikhs FINALLY decide they want some sort of religious path they get impressed by the bombardment of christian/muslim missionaries. LOOOL you say Is that why Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world? 6 million people that do leave, another 12 million may join. Do not confuse me friend I’m not a Muslim, I am just stating the fact. You have mentioned only the uneducated are leaving the Sikh faith, well as human nature we will always follow the majority and what we are impressed by. so sikh charities like khalsa aid have gone ALL over the world helping ppl, without any strings attatched, no conversion for food/water in return, just seva (selfless service)! Whereas christian/muslim charities ONLY help their own. During ramadan all the muslim channels collect charity money, n im not lieing but on one channel it said on the bottom of the banner, money to be sent to pakistan/bangladesh/afghanistan, and then it said "INDIA (muslims ONLY)". i thought that just says it all! also during pakistan floods, chrisitan missionaries were helping muslim victims in panjab/sindh, BUT only if they became christians in return. Khalsa aid is a charity, which fly the Sikh banner but can it compete on the levels of Christian aid and Oxfam that are predominantly Christian funded charities and these charities function as no strings attached help. As you have mentioned they not do this and have other motives then you need to provide evidence of such, people from Sikh faiths are adopting other faiths because the help they receive. So countries like UK n western europe where churches are being closed down coz THERES NO CONGREGATION, jesus christ being mocked by his own ppl, the fact that more ppl watch ford super sunday on sky sports than go to church on sunday in england, and u have the nerve to cuss sikhi? other religions have spread their numbers because of conquest, so there numbers are HUGE, n if ppl leave the religion, it doesnt impact their numbers. Whereas if maharaja ranjit had forcefully converted everybody from delhi-kangra-kashmir-lahore-multan-peshawar then sikh population n power would be oh so different. Countries like the UK are developing into states that do not rely on church and congregation, many people are moving away from organised religion and are becoming Atheist. If you are an Atheist and you do not believe in God, there is no place for churches or Jesus. So the Christians are accessing the easiest resource, the venerable, poor people of the third world. It’s no fault of the majority organised religion like Islam and Christianity, they know how to play the game. If Sikh faith is not intelligent enough to keep its present followers, who is at fault? Maharaja Ranjit Singh had no interest to convert numbers to the Sikh faith, if you would like to discuss why this was the case? then PM me and I can discuss it. LOL well the sikhs, apart from the 2 anglo sikh wars (thru backstabbing) have NEVER lost a war to anyone. by the way which were all wars where sikhs were OUTNUMBERED, yet were succesful. that is QUALITY over quantity. coz if it wasnt, then we would of lost all battles n would be praying towards mecca everyday. your comments are incredibly dumb and naive. japji sahib/jaap sahib prayers have more power in them then all other prayer in the world put together. WHY is this? because they were written by prophets who were alive at the time to recite them and put it pen to paper, thats authenticity. unlike other religious texts of other religions which were written 60 or 100 yrs AFTER the prophet has died, which means anything can be made up on the spot by power hungry disciples. sikhi and sikhs are going through a very tough time at the moment, y is it our religion is attacked first by extremist non-believers (whether thats in india or uk)? because they kno when sikhs r on song and united then NO ONE and i mean NO ONE can defeat khalsa. Sikhs have never lost a war? Sikh never fought a war on a large scale as they did with Anglo Sikh wars, much of the warfare fought in the period of the Moguls was guerilla warfare and even then many Sikhs were massacred. Many Sikhs in the past fought battles that were fought with strategy with declining number in mind also support from non-Sikh armies, which was seen as an opportunity to over throw the Moghul Raaj in Northern India. now get lost u prat!! Come on, we are all adults here no need of such insults, aren’t we Sikhs who live in the concept of humility.
  21. I have also heard of this, main reason was to stream line the faith into one belief instead of multi belief system.
  22. Guru Nanak in Mecca. That is a subject, which can be debated and no answer will pursue. We need to look into history for an explanation but majority of the time it’s unclear and can confuse the subject matter. We know from historical artefacts and number of writing by Sikh scholars and third party writings, Guru Nanak did go to Mecca but did Guru Nanak go to Mecca as a Muslim or a revolutionary? Guru Nanak’s philosophical thought behind concept of God was a breath of fresh but during this era many would have regarded him as a insane. Going back to the subject matter, Guru Nanak visited Mecca with a friend who was a Muslim and firm believer of Nanak philosophy, speaking to a Muslim historian, there is a belief during the era of Guru Nanak non Muslims were allowed to visit Mecca. There wasn’t a requirement like we have in the present day that only a person who follows the Muslim faith can visit Mecca. Mecca was the knowledge centre for Islam and many people from different faiths would go to Mecca to share ideas. Could this be the case?
