  2. LOL There are 100's of forums, and each dedicated to their own. Why do we sikhs get our kachas in a twist when we state facts about muslims. Why do muslims come to discuss nothing but quotes from their devil worship book!!! all they want to do is disrupt our normal way of life and discussion on the forum if you dont want muslim bashing then I suggest that ppl who come to learn about Sikhy and ask the right question be allowwd to do so those ppl who disrupt the forum should be banned from the forum there it was not too hard to work that one out!!!
  3. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I have read all the above comments........COMMOM Sence should prevail. I too am keshdari Sikh and hold the 5 K's very high respect. The kanga is there to keep your hair tangle free and clean....that is the live hair or your head.By getting into rituals about dead hair are we not turning the clock back into the dark ages before the KHALSA. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  4. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I was browsing the indian High Commission web site in UK. Listed here are the festivals in India Buddha Purnima Christmas Deepawali Dussehra Easter Ganesh Chaturthi Holi Id Janamashtami Ladakh Festivals Mahavir Jayanti Makar Sankranti Muharram New Year Onam Raksha Bandhan Rath Yatra Click on this link: http://www.hcilondon.net/india-overview/fe...vals/index.html This means that Siks don't exist in Indian governments eyes. How deplorable is this, and this year we mark the 1984 bloodshed at the hands of the indain government!!!
  5. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Smart Singh, Thanks for the correction..... thats probably why you are called smart singh Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Singh Ji I see where you are comeing from but historically there have been many bad leaders in the world that have created all kinds of Human suffering. We as sikhs should and can only follow examples and history of what out Gurus left us. Do we celebrate death of Hitler in the same way? Many 100's of thousand sikhs died in WWI and WWII.what is the difference between this mad man,Indra Ghandi or other dictators of the world, far too many to mention.Remember the only country to actually drop the NUKe is USA..... another mad regime..... the wesyt call the east uncivilised..... I can go on and on ..... where do we stop.what the Indian Govt did at the time was not acceptable by any cival society.I was shocked to hear the Ghandi name again in Indian politics....so I do understand what you mean  @
  7. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Singh Ji, Why, Why,Why, do you have to celebrate any ones death espesally Former PM Indra Ghandi. We should learn from history and move on.Is this what our 10 masters taught us? This is the first time in history that a turbaned and a beraded man has held such a high post in India why should we as sikhs not be happy. Personally I think its a great thing that a Sikh is PM of India.(When will sikhs learn to UNITE) you know this is known as the KHALSA.........!!!!!!! WAKE UP I never liked Brar he has written a book on operation Blue star and states that the Indian Goverment never put one buillit in the Golden temple.I remember visiting in 1989 and the Golden temple was riddled with Indian army bullits. As an officer I have no problem he was following orders. But why lie, they can not hide the truth.Let history not repeat, let us not celebrate death by eating sweets and so on.it is soooooo wrong,Learn from how the Gurus were treated and how they used verbally fought with the enemy and won.Only when necassary should we fight.Singhs I ask ask you all to cool down and think with your head, hosh not josh. You can only win with knowledge. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  8. Daniel, Not sure what you are reading or where your information is comeing from. The Guru Granth Sahib does not Preach any kind of violence or hatred against any living thing be it animal or human. Many scollars have studied the Guru Granth Sahib and all come to one conclusion that there is nothing on this earth to match the poetry and the clear message it sends out. Regarding your comments about Sri Guru NanakDev Ji at Mecca read the following: GURU NANAK AT MECCA: He disguised himself in the blue dress of a Mohammadan pilgrim, took a faqir's staff in his hand and a collection of his hymns called 'Pothi' under his arm. He also carried with him like a Muslim devotee, a cup for his ablutions and a rug whereon to pray. Like a pilgrim he went inside the great mosque where the pilgrims were engaged in their devotions. When he lay down to sleep at night, he turned his feet towards the Kaaba. A priest, Jiwan kicked him and said,"Who is this infidel sleeping with his feet towards the House of God?" The Guru replied,"Turn my feet in the direction in which God is not." Upon this Jiwan seized the Guru's feet and dragged them in the opposite direction. Whereupon, it is said, the Kaaba (temple) turned around, and followed the revolution of Guru's body. Some say that when the Guru asked the priest to turn his feet in the direction where God was not, the priest came to realization that God was everywhere. But those who witnessed this miracle were astonished and saluted the Guru as a supernatural being. Then the Qazis and the Mullas crowded round the Guru and asked whether he was a Muslim or a Hindu? The Guru replied that he was neither of the two. Then they asked,"Who is the superior of the two, the Hindu or the Muslim?" The Guru replied,"Without good deeds, both will repent. The superiority lies in deeds and not in mere creeds." The chief priest was a seeker of the Truth and he asked for Guru's blessings. The Guru preached the doctrine of Nam. He then gave instructions to the priest in the art of true living, to practice to live in His presence day and night and to glorify the Lord and thereby to rub out the dirt of sins from the tablet of the mind. Finally Your comments about Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Please provide us some proof where the Muslims of the time were hard done. You have to remember that Guru Goibind singh was a Saint and a Soldier. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji stood for Injustice and demoracy for all people Men,women and the low caste. I don't want to go into details of what the Muslim Maharajas did at the time but all I need to say is that If it was not for the constant battles against harsh, trynical Muslim leaders Likes Arunzib, and Akhber today India would have been ISLAM.If you want more information please let me know or check out some web sites. 9. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! "RIOT” I don't think so! Mass Murder at the hand of the then Indian Government. Innocent, Sikh women were raped and murdered; children especially young Sikh boys were slathered and Sikh men were butchered. This was NO RIOT. It was planned to cause carnage to the Sikh faith. 20 years on has the Sikh nation woken up……NO!!! How many Sikh follow what out 10th Master left us “Khalsa”. We are very lucky to live in a democratic society; we should never forget who we are and where we come from regardless of where we live on this planet. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  10. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Our Gurus have given us a simple life to lead. It all depends on how we interpret the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Many Ragis,Giani's and people associated to any Gurdwaras will have their own interprtation. This is why it is very Important for us as an individual to learn our Maboli (Gurmakhi-Punjabi).There is so much out there in this century for us to learn the real message of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Do your own research, make your Own opinions, may be then you will understand what Sikhism is about is all about. Its True Our Gurus have given us a way of life and we should be inspired by the quality of life we lead today. In comparison look at word war II in this centaury if all the allies would have been defeated innocent people would be dying today.Similary if the Sikhs did not defeat the might of the mogul empire there would be no Justice and Equality in India toady. We all would have been following Islam. This is what Sikhism stands for Freedom and Justice. Set in stone over 500 years ago. Only today are some Governments are using the same principal. I am proud to be a Singh and thrive on the Sikh history. It’s a shame that new generation of Sikhs do not adhere to Sikh principals, but we all have a lot to learn. I Love every bit of sikhism
  11. Fateh, I concur with ms514,"ceremonies or traditions" are more appropriate words. Some Sikh families still use the word Pooja instead of SEWA. We have strayed away from the path the Gurus had left us. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
