religious beliefs should be upheld in any case as long as they do not interfere with the new world order. this is a fight between customs/religious beliefs/ ideology and the newer "ever changing" world scenario. we will see in the coming years how the religions and customs would be modified slowly by surely by the strategists. if you want to live in another country then you have to play by their rules. who are we to travel thousands of miles scacred of indian government/polic brutalities/corruption and then ask for our OUR way of life?

Marriage is based on needs of human mind and body and therefore it was built into the social structure.(sorry if this sounds rude) There are many differences between animals and humans and this is one of them. As man will find it very difficult to live without society (structure) it would therefore need a "framework" like marriage to live and sustain with privacy and thereby honouring the laws of the society (or nature itself).

manmohan is a true congressman whos loyality lies with the gandhi family. looking like a sikh doesn't make you sikh or someone who would support a minority. He can't take decisions without congress high commands big "yes" i.e. Ms gandhi herself. Any person who is a "gulam" of anything can never be a sikh whether it is congress loyality or party loyality. Him being clean is out of question as he is from congress party who orchestrated mass murder of sikhs and it is a shame he is still part of that party and we are discussing him here.

I think it is just like a classroom where there are lots of pupils with special needs and they would not understand whats going on and try their own methods to pass time. Go and observe any mixed abilty lessons and you will find that at some point the under achievers would start conversing.

Come on sikho.........nowbody knows or can understand how world or humans came into existence. sikhism is above all this guess game. sikhism is logic and the game of self-sacrifice. Who dares to say the truth and accept if you don't have evidence of anything. No one can describe god or what he looks like and formation of planet (remember even science says it is just theory)and as far as i understand that is what respected SGGS says. Please rise above all these petty questions/issues. Kahaniyan na pao aage aayo and do something for the well being of others and sikhism.

I think you are raising a very important question- are the sikhs keeping kirpan as a symbol ONLY? or are they keeping it as a weapon for self and others protection?

This is latest....march 17. More than a dozen activists, including girls, of the Unemployed PTI Teachers’ Union, were roughed up here today by SAD activists when they tried to disrupt a foundation stone-laying ceremony that was presided over by the Bathinda MP, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, at Gurdwara Haji Rattan. Besides the policemen, a number of senior leaders of the SAD, including a member of the political affairs committee, thrashed them in the presence of Harsimrat Kaur and the SGPC chief, Avtar Singh Makkar. The situation turned explosive as a result of which the security staff advised Harsimrat Kaur to leave the spot immediately. Harsimrat Kaur was here to lay the foundation stone of two schools run by the SGPC, Dashmesh Khalsa School and Dashmesh School for Differently Able children, in the gurdwara complex. As soon as she laid the first stone, a number of activists of the Unemployed PTI Teachers’ Union started raising slogans to press for the acceptance of their demands. Harsimrat Kaur advised them to take up the issue with the state government. Irked over her reply, the agitators became more aggressive in their protest. The SAD leaders did not even spare the agitating girls and dragged them away by their dupattas in the presence of Harsimrat Kaur, the patron of the ‘Nanhi Chhaan’ campaign.

Do you believe in "karamaat" or showing of some kind of unnatural powers in Sikhism? OR Do you believe that the stories of karamaat are all exagerrations by historians AND Sikhism is only based on logic and we have been fighting for centuries for living a life on simple pious principles and given big "kubanis" which were not part of any "karamaat"?

Sohi won and is holding a party in wembley where 'allegedly' liquor will be served as well. i believe someone with a camera can capture that and post it on a public site. i have seen this but not captured in Malhi's parties. i think the third party played a vital role in his win. But it is a shame that only 6000 out of 11000 voters turned up because mny of them knew that they are all fighting for golak and control. many more in the coming years will alienate thenselves just because of these people and the way they want to run gurdwaras. what is the solution? people should stand up and ask for details on how things have been done and will be done from every president and every member. they should take more active role in managing their own gurdwaras.

I am protesting these elections where all CHORS are up against each other. I am already distributing leaflets and urging people NOT to participate in this DODGY process whereby people elected will misuse their status and power and haver done that in the past. We (alongwith my sikh brothers) want to ask all the parties to give-up their positions and instead ask voluntary action group to be formed with all responsible intelligent educated and honest individuals. There can a set criteria for the people who want to join in those action groups e.g. CRB clearance, good education etc. I will be protesting outside the polling area. Please join me if you want to show your support.

Obviously Libyans won't vote for Gaddafi if he is standing in the elections. here we have three Gaddafi's - who will you vote for? Check their parties records...all of them are fighting for GOLAK and control over the KURSI.... I am asking you to vote in favour of making small action groups of responsible, educated and CRB cleared sikhs who can volunteer to share their expertise in the benefit of the whole community.

being educated doesn't mean you start voting for people who can stand and AFFORD to spend money on elections or in meetings where even liquor is served. all the parties spent huge amounts in printing those coloured and good quality leaflets but that money could have spent is publishing Sikh literature for preaching Gurus teachings. Being educated means that you realise the unnecessary expenditure that incurs on gurdwaras budget and the money collected through pious donations. But people like you will not understand this as you interpret this the other way around. Elections are fair when fair people are contesting. all I am saying is that -all the three parties are not honest in their approach towards our religious institution. all the deadly sins are playing their part- greed, pride, ego, cheating and lying etc. people like you are bound to get influenced by so called election process.

Can the sangat group re-nominate people other than family members or ask family members to withdraw ? this seems like one family will have more say in running a gurdwara which belongs to everyone. i think they have atleast 6 members from one family which is not right. Are there no other people with dignity, knowledge and time to work as gurdwara committee members? exercising your vote means that you are favouring anyone of the wrong groups. Not excercising means that I am out of this drama and will seek change in the form of protests which will start soon asking "thekedars"(mahants) to step down and seek sikh publics guidance by forming small action groups comprising individuals of high calibre knowledge and committment.

The three major parties and their top leaders have shown their true manners on the sikh channel. They are all businessmen with their own agendas. No one is free from corruption. M "Lion group" and S"baaj group" have used peoples money for the courts cases to settle their egos which is extremely wrong. Third party has fielded most of their own family members to run our gurdwara which is wrong. M used his status to promote his own company for double glazing amounting to about 80000 and the windows were not even good quality. S wants to be like Badal and never leave the top chair i.e. for 11 years and more to come -till his sons come up and grab that. Baaj group doesn't seem to have anyone with more intelligence and courage that Mr S himself. All others are mere posters. third party came up because of the internal conflict within the second party. I hate politics and I would like to request like minded sangat to protest peacefully and not become part of this DRAMA. They must not vote to any party and boycott these elections. It is sheer wastage of sangats money about i.e. £ 70-80000. I would like to therefore propose a plan which includes setting up several action groups comprising of volunteers from general public who are CRB cleared, well educated professionals, accountable and resposible individuals and who are willing to sign up for their duties. these action groups will take over in rotation looking after the daily requirements. These action groups could be seperately made for langar, Kirtan and Katha, teaching classes, human resources, general accounts etc which might include professionals from these areas. Wahe guru ji ka Khalsa wahe guru ji Ki Fateh

Thanks for your views. we will be begining our protests soon as the sangat who is objecting to the way these parties are portraying Sikhs and the issues related to their temples is growing. we will be asking individuals to step forward and ask these people to leave our gurdwaras as they are not clean. Ego, misuse of money and position, raking up controversial issuing and sidelining from the main objectives of sikhi and sewa is what they are doing. Boycotting means "we are not part of this drama of lies and allegations as becoming part of them and voting would mean we are not true sikhs and are ignoring the basic principles".
