  1. I think it's because who and what environment they spend their time with that influences their decision. Whatever they are goin to feel comfortable with, without pressure they will go for that. It's not like th old days where we there was fear of doing wat parents said. Nowadays there is so much freedom, and some kids think if their parents had a hard relationship then they get put off and look elsewhere. Does not matter if one is educated or uneducated as now kids have that choice of making up their own minds. I know kids that are highly educated and they seem to be th ones that are marrying out of religion. There partners are very nice people, but I see it's the environment they been living in that has them get together. I don't think its golden, I'm hearing of more interfaith marriages now than before. It's kalyug, everything has changed. Yes kids have more awareness of Sikhi than before but it doesn't mean there are less interfaith marriages. Maybe it's about th same or more. Also there were no classes for kids before, and as our parents came to this country they were always busy in work. I'm sure if th gurdwaras had classes and taught about Sikhi rather than have committee arguments then they would have attended the classes too. Yes kids have that chance now but it all depends on how many want to go. I think it's both same, there is more kids into Sikhi now due to the awareness but also u got the other side too that have diverted from it also due to more freedom. So I feel it's black age with golden splashes. Before
  2. That wasn't nice to experience. If a family wants to sit together so should be, nobody has right to do that in my opinion. Same with if one spouse is not well then should be allowed to sit together. Understandable if there is no reason to sit together, then separate, but where there are problems sitting together should be allowed, if they are from one family then it's obvious.
  3. Thanku Big Tera paji have message u. This is a big issue in our community and u have done a good thing by posting this topic. People get scared to open up so they won't be labelled pagal or mental, but I feel in our community it's in denial a lot. It's good u have given definitions of th chemicals I didn't even know they existed and their role. I'm not sure if blood tests are done to detect any chemical inbalances, but a defieciency in some vitamins and minerals may cause some symptoms. That's why I was asking are there any that defiencies that may cause mood swings, depression, negative thoughts etc. Thanku SinghBj paji for ur link, interesting. Yes u are right this is very valuable information that Big Tera paji has posted that may help someone and they do not realise they have this issue. And criticising it is very shameful, as it can happen to anybody and they need the right help. Nothing to worry about or be ashamed of if one has a mental illness, does not have to be associated with the old type thinking or stereo typical view. Mental illness has different sorts of symptoms, everybody is not the same and it's not like wat u would see in bollywood movies as there are different levels and types of it. It probably affects most of us some time in our life, but we don't realise it.It would be good to hear wat natural supplements others have tried to help them, like certains sabji daal etc? Or any food that was making it worse? Anything that helped especially women, as our women don't really talk about this thing in our community. I've heard simran helps but am not able to do how much is recommended, somebody posted but can't remember where. I'm fed up of people saying Bechari or Bechara de karm a. I've heard so many people say that to others. Then the patient gives up and thinks oh well wats the point when I'm going to stay like this, then things get worse and worse. We can not blame everything on karm, these chemical inbalances I never knew about. And some can be corrected. Somebody maybe having anxiety because they are deficient in something. One example: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Anaemia-vitamin-B12-and-folate-deficiency/Pages/Introduction.aspx This is why I was asking Big Tera paji wat other blood test deficiencies could cause some cognitive problems? Also don't be afraid to approach the doctors there are Asians that help with this problem, or if u don't want to talk to an Asian, there are others u can talk to.
  4. But it's true everybody wants the richer man or woman nowadays. A lot of people r engrossed in money rather than qualities.
  5. Sorry sorry I mean which is best butter to use. Made of butter? Milk? Oh recipe plz? Which is better milk ghee or butter ghee? Is the milk one called makhani?
  6. Thanku paji does it have to be full fat milk? And wat can we put it in? I remember my grandma used to have this.
  7. Prozac is medicine? I thought u meant natural means like foods plants etc? Anything I can use instead of medicine ? Does long times on internet reduce these chemicals paji? And any blood tests they can do to see which ones I'm short of ?.
  8. Is it the homemade ghee is gud for u? Don't like store bought so would homemade be ok?
  9. Paji which natural means please? Like diet or wat?
  10. you should not do anything to please others, should be done to help urself.
  11. I used to go one extra, and do toof to all the ornaments on the mantel piece, and just go swish swish on family pics lol.
  12. http://www.projectknow.com/research/internet-addiction/ http://netaddiction.com/internet-addiction-test/
  13. Have th docs done ur blood tests? Ask them to check th ones that they normally don't that maybe causing these symptoms. Also when u been in a certain phase of routine it's hard to change it. U need to retrain urself again with medical help. Don't feel u not achieved anything. U do more than me, look at the paat u do, and volunteer work. Be proud of wat u can do and not wat u can't. Have they not offered any counselling or help?
  14. How did u log in as user
  15. Sikh roles, so they say, have been played by actors, but Sikhi has not been portrayed. There is no Sikh way of life shown, that's such a big shame on Bollywood. It's like they show only a certain type of look. That's not Sikh exactly. We need movies which shows Sikhs, not nearly Sikh look, with storylines on only love shove. I grew up watching these movies, no wonder me and youngsters know nothing about Sikhi, coz there is nothing in mainstream media.
  16. U are right I looked on other sites and those pics have gone too. Hope I haven't posted something I'm not suppose to. There is one site with pics of them with the bairagan but I won't post as I'm feeling that I shouldn't don't know why.
  17. I remember seeing that post too but can't find it. It's a wooden arm rest used by holy people that do bhagti.
  18. Again false, model di lagdia, all scripted. Rubbish program.
  19. You are right paji, but not everybody will come across a parchar environment. Media is the most effective way to get awareness across to bigger audience. Eg: youngsters are attracted to media more. News information everything through media has more response as it's on bigger scale.
  20. "Birth and caste are of no avail before God. It is deeds which make or unmake a man. To exploit ignorant people with superstitions and to call it religion is a sacrilege against God and man. To worship the infinite, formless and absolute God in the form of a totem, an image or an insignificant or time-bound object of nature, or to wash one's sins not through compassion and self-surrender, but through ablutions; to insist upon special diets, languages and dresses, and fads about what to eat and what not, and to condemn the mass of human beings, including women, to the status of sub-humans and to deny them the reading of the scriptures and even work of every kind is to tear apart man from man. This is not religion, not is it religion to deny the world through which alone man can find his spiritual possibilities." Dhan Guru Ram Dass ji.
  21. 1984 movie and few others been released, so they are getting there and trying. Yes I understand there is not enough coverage on it.
  22. Well everybody's not as we expect them to be. And guess people aren't satisfied with anything. At least he is promoting something that relates to Sikhs, as I not seen anybody else do it. Bhai Jugtar Singh is not a Bollywood actor, I'm commenting on bollywood actors. And it would be great if there were Sikhs like in him in Bollywood. But who wants to be a bollywood actor?
  23. @sikhiseeker no idea of wat goes on in their lives and don't really care. It's the acting I look at not their personal lives, so can't comment on something I know nothing about. But Sunny Deol does look super cool with his pagh n beard I must say. Ps: I thought she was Tamil. Anyways sanu ki Jo marji hove, not bothered, got my own life to look at.
