  1. Do as many Sukhmani Sahibs you can do at her bedside, thats what mahapurash recommend. All the best for her health! You need ot asra of Gurbani at such difficult times, guru di kirpa naal auke time vi lang jande ne. My uncle succumbed to cancer at 54, so I can relate the pain, anguish and fear.
  2. Ik hor bachan dass nu yaad aaya hai. During 1965 Indo China war, indian sikh soldiers when their guns froze due to cold and stopped working, and it was almost hand to hand combat, they witnessed or had darshan of a mahapurash with a khanda in his hand fighting alongside with the shaheed singhs. when they came in touch with Baba Ishar Singh ji later on , they realised it was Baba Ishar Singh ji who was fighting there in a gupt form. One time, ,Baba Kehar Singh ji, head ragi of Nanaksar told this bachan to my mom's masad ji. Baba Ishar Singh ji went into a room, got it locked from outside, and told Baba Kehar singh not to open it till he comes out. After a while when Baba Ishar Singh ji came out, he was in full bir rass , a khanda in his hand, dripping with blood, chola filled with blood. As they were doing more gupt bachan someone knocked outside, and baba ji jumped into a nearby pool of water and came back into sehaj rass. So wherever there is bhagti , there is shakti. Its not just about a bunch of fairy tales. If Baba Nand Singh ji was all about Guru Nanak, Baba Ishar Singh ji was all about Dasveh Patshah. I can reaccount tales of three people who had darshan of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji with the kirpa of Baba Ishar Singh ji. 1) Sant Baba Bhajan Singh ji patiale wale: He personally told me when he had the darshan of Guru Gobind Singh ji , he fell unconsciously on the ground. At that time Baba Ishar Singh ji were doing katha of "darshan dekhat ki sudh ki na sudh rahi mat me na mat hai" 2) My mom's masad ji and masi ji: Both of them told personal tales of how they got darshan of Guru ji , and they just melted , they turned into water kind of feeling at that time. I was very little at that time or else I would have requested more details as to how Guru ji looked. I know people out of ignorance or out of their personality types question or may condemn somethings, who cares, i feel connected with that samparda, i love it , hor ki chahida hai, i wish i can get sangat of someone like Baba Ishar Singh ji ...but just waiting for that day.
  3. They do have langar, its just not cooked there, but brought from outside sangatan.
  4. Baba Nand Singh Ji said that Nanaksar is a "birakti thath" ( purely for meditation and bhagti & bhagti alone). No one should talk about worldly matters here, no one should come here asking for sons, no one should read novels, newspapers or any other worldly literature here, no one should discuss anything not related to Gursikhi or Naam Simran, here only bhagti and naam simran matters, food also comes from outside with Gurus grace. Thats why Nishan Sahib is not flown because langar actually is brought by people. Like other posters have mentioned up. Tiger skins and lion skins were used by Baba Nand Singh ji and Baba Ishar Singh ji to meditate upon; only a a pooran brahmchari jati sati can sit upon a tiger skin; others who try to mimic the mahapurash will die of leprosy. Also they add to the royalty of Guru Nanak Dev's darbar. I will mention some other things unique about Nanaksar too. "Guru Granth ji maneyo pargat guran ki deh". In my eyes, only maharpurash who has truly practised is Baba Nand Singh ji, Because everyday Baba Nand Singh ji would offer prashada to Guru Nanak Dev ji , and Guru Nanak Sahib would eat as he did in Bhai Lalo jis house. This is a very great kamai. A lot of focus is on seva of Guru Granth Sahib ji. The rumalas, clothing etc, of Guru Granth Sahib ji is different in Nanaksar samparda. There are so many little things that are unique like - bhog di maryada - Akhand paths maryada is very very strict, japji sahib da path etc, character of pathi singhsetc. - Sampat Path maryada, by Guru Gobind Singh ji but brought to light again by Baba Nand Singh and Baba Ishar Singh ji - Keertan is given a lot of importance, keertan is done for Guru Nanaks khushi, dhuni of Dhan Guru Nanak tu hi nirankar is unique to Nanaksar, - Pooranmashi ( full moon) is celebrated because Guru Nanak Dev jis avtar was on Katak di pooranmashi, so its done is yaad of Guru Nanak jis avtar purab. - you will see asans of Baba Nand Singh ji and Baba Ishar singh ji in darbar, this is to pay homage to the sants who showed us this marag and help us connect with the guru, a homage to their parupkar. - Baba Nand Singh would use Aukhi Ghadi Na Dekha Deyin shabad as a sampat in Guru Granth Sahibs path. People asked why. Baba ji kehnde si ke duniya sirf sarbat de bhale di ardas kardi hai ...par Nanaksar vich sampat path hunde hun sarbat de bhale layi. Baba ji ne bachan di kamayi kar ke dassi hai. Sachi, itni kamai aur karni de poore soore mahapurash dekhan vich nahi aunde. Main message of Baba Ishar Singh ji was at the end of every diwan " amrit vele utho, ishnan karo , guru nanak sahib da dhyan rakho mann bahar nahi jayega, nitnem karo, dharam asthan te matha teko , te dharam di kirat karo, lok sukhiye parlok suhele, nanak har prabh aape mele". Baba Ishar Singh ji never said fateh to the sangat at the end of diwan. But when it was his last diwan, the day before he was going to leave his body, he stood up in sangat and said WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH, because he had truly attained FATEH. Aise mahapurashan nu mera kot kot pranam! Thats all my low intelligence could organize right now. Bachan taan bahut hun fer kise din sahi.
  5. This was the greatness of Dhan Dhan Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj. Words fail to describe, and fall short of praising baba ji. Whoever came to Baba ji returned with full blessings. Many spiritual seekers whether they were yogis, sadhus, muslims pirs, christian officers, etc who came to baba ji returned with full grace; with their queries of mind fulfilled. They were never asked to change their murshad. The main point here is about the murshad. Once you wholeheartedly submit your head to the murshad, its better to stick to that murshad and keep following the practices. What Baba ji did do was put "barkat" grace into the spiritual life of the seeker without himself taking the credit; baba ji was so humble he didnt want to take the credit even if he helped the seeker. I think pooran mahapurash are so connected with the truth, reality that some of the differences that we perceive might not be there for them. I also remembered reading one story where Jesus and Mohammed came to Baba ji to listen to Gurbani keertan. Baba ji then asked the ragis to do kirtan for them. The ragis couldnt see anything at that time , but they were later told by Baba ji about the reality. Jo rass gurbani vich hai oh kithe vi nahi.
  6. Hi , I am just curious to see if there any sangatan here who go to the Sukhmani Sahib Paths and Simran Programme at Malton Gurughar?
  7. I think behind the old traditions there might be some reality, especially when it comes to meeting of a male and female; just like when a north and south pole come together there is bound to be some attraction, similarly on a very subtle level, maybe deeper than the unconscious level, something always happens. Unless you are a Brahmgyani, who has with the tap of his kamai burnt all his karams and get no furne, someone is always at a risk of slip. Thats why it was an extra safeguard measure set up by old traditions. But with that said, if you are treading on a Grihast marag, then such interaction is necessary to fulfill the worldy duties or to even engage in discussion or achieve perspective; i guess as long as the person is evaluating his mind based on the kasvatti of Gurbani constantly, he should do fine given guru kirpa.
  8. In US, if you are wearing a turban and a beard, you are a Taliban/ muslim. He should use this platform to show that public display of beard and turban = SIKH ( 99.9% of the time) not a Taliban or muslim. And also show Sikhs in a more positive upbeat attitude. I have to commend this guy, because he went in with full flowing beard, he didnt even tie or gel it. As for singing kaami or mayavi songs, that is a bit negative ; but that should be left for him to decide, its between him and Guru ji.
  9. I think everyone has their own mahapurash that they admire. I have respect for all the Sants and Mahapurakhs, and why wouldnt I? They have reached levels with the Guru's grace where I cant even imagine to think of. That said, my love for Baba Ishar Singh ji Nanaksar kaleran is more than any other mahapurakhs. Sometimes you just feel connected and special with one mahapurakh. For me, this is due to the experiences I have heard from my elders who did sangat of Baba ji. I think its okay if I decide to hold someone in more respect in our minds over the others. Its an innerpersonal experience. All mahapurash are the same. Their basic teaching is same. Just go wherever your heart takes you, or wherever you feel more bliss. Just dont try to big one over the other publicly.
  10. I have heard from Giani Thakur Singh that Mata jee was a yogi and had the ability to leave body at will.
