  1. Hey Gurbar Akaal who are you to question my faith? Only Guru ji knows my faith. Have i disrespected your teacher in anyway? Have I disrespected you in anyway. Read my posts over carefully before you try to disrespect me. Watch your tounge when you speak to others. Show some respect, especially to people who haven't disrespected you. Please don't call my sikhi weak. Its a known fact that if you learn from someone you are putting yourself in a vulnerable position to take in everything they tell you. Sangat in gurbani is very important. If you are around a bunch of ppl who have a different philosphy from you, chances are good you will be effected. And I am as weak as guru ji makes me. I need sangat of naam abiyaasis. I'm the first one to admit that. I don't need sangat of ppl that i believe will take me away from my beliefs. And neither do younger generations.
  2. Jayd, So you quoted one of my writings on sikhnet. I'm sorry I don't Understand what you are trying to say? I still believe in what I wrote and I stand by it. Worship the way you want. Just don't try to tell others that something that is clearly against the wishes of my beloved Guru is justified. Don't try to water down someones faith. Don't try to assimilate anothers faith. You could take my quote and make an argument that I am for love and not passing judgement, so we should Show RSS love and let them do what they want. WRONG. If anyone knows me they know what i write is what i believe and I strongly believe in not judging and opening your heart to love and Sikhi is only gained through LOVE. However please don't try to twist my words into something that suits your agenda. My biggest pet peve is ppl trying to misrepresent me. I know what i said you don't have to quote it back to me. I know what I believe. And once again what i said above does not contradict with what you have quoted. If you agree with me about being proper to your faith and not mixing and matching. Then whats the problem. Why are u trying paint me as the hypocrit. When your the one condoing idol worship. Please don't disrespect me in such ways. Once again passing judgement is one thing, But letting your faith be assimilated and watered down is quite the other. I won't let it happen without speaking my mind. You wanna worship pictures of the Gurus, be my guest. I have no problem with that. You want to justify and say its ok in sikhi to do that. I have a problem with that. Since Gurbani is clearly against IDOL worship. You got anything else to say to me, or you wanna try to attack my character through my previous posts, please have enough respect to do it in private. PM me. We can have a nice long chat
  3. "Man, they threw flowers at Guru Nanak Dev Jis saroop to show love and devotion to a portrait of their master, whats the big deal? " Guys whats the big deal!! I mean they are just showing their own type of respect by disrespecting the same Gurus teaching that they are trying to respect. if that made any sense. In case you can't tell i'm being sarcastic. Stop justifying this pls. Everyone has a right to practice their own type of religion. Where I draw the line is when people try to justify un sikhi practices as sikhi practices. How are you ppl showing respect to Guru ji by doing the exact opposite of what he has taught and written. NO IDOL WORSHIP PERIOD.... Oh and thanks for the lesson on what a prabhat Pheri is. But most or us already knew what it was, still no justification for what is showed in the video. Get a grip. Hindu ban na be a good hindu. Sikh ban na, Then be a proper sikh. Stop mixing and matching to your own liking, showing your ego thinking you know better then the Guru. Oh i will adopt this part of sikhi but not this part, and i will ad this other part into sikhi. If you wanna be disciples then be proper disciples. END OF DISCUSSION.
  4. I just don't think its a good idea to learn from someone who has such different beliefs from you, someone who believes in the opposite of a lot of your beliefs. Just because your teacher in any thing can really influence the way you think. But hey if there are any singh who have similar beliefs to me who have learned from him who are willing to share i'll be more then happy to learn
  5. I cannot believe that out of all of india hes the only that knows it? I just can't comprehend how this art can be lost. I hope its not true. But maybe it is. I wish I could learn it. It would be such a pleasure to learn the art the Our Gurus taught us
  6. Hey guys thanks for the civilized replies. I honestly thought I was going to get ripped apart on here. I don't mind people disagreeing, thats what lifes about I just can't stand the immature people who like to throw insults and what not if they dissagree. Well that hasn't happened yet so I'm happy. As for S133k_s1kh, To answer your questions. I'm not an expert in Shastar vidiya or even Gatka. I love playing gatka cause its a fun way to get excercise. The fencing part is the best. Anyways I believe there is one person who says he knows the actual art. And hes the only one living today that knows it (thats what HE says). Hes from U.K. And these are the nihungs i'm referring to. However I'm not sure if it is the real marital or not because i don't know much about Shastar vidiya. But i'm not saying its not either. Well you might be thinking wow thats wicked one person knows it and hes teaching in U.K. But all i'm going to say is his views are very conterversial on a lot of subjects. In fact I don't agree with anything he says aside fromt he shastar vidiya part. I'm not attacking his character. I never met the guy. All i'm saying is if you don't agree with someones beliefs then its hard to learn from them cause thats what they gonna push on you. I would love to learn from them and judge for myself if it is the real art. From what I've seen it looks pretty deadly. But I don't agree with what they say on a number of very important issues in the panth. Anyways from my limted knowledge Gatka is a show art. A really really watered down version of the real thing. And shastar vidiya is the art Guru ji gave us. A complete art where breathing technique, many pentras, ways to defend ways to attack with many various weapons is taught. It is a complete martial art. At this point I want to say something about Hardkaurwarriorz post. I'm glad you agree with me. However you said that we shouldn't look down on anything the guru has given us. Gurmukh pyari I would never do that, I think you misunderstood what i said. I have not stated that gatka is a martial arts passed down to us by our gurus and it is ineffective. How could anything given to us by our gurus be less then perfect. I just want to clarify my statement is that Gatka is not the original martial art passed down to us by our Gurus. And this just my opinion because i have studied other martial arts and the amount of detail that goes into show martial arts let alone real martial are way more then gatka. I mean u said if u have a dang then you would be effective because of what they teach you in gatka. I will go one step further and say even if you had a dang or a gatka stick you wouldn't be even close to effective against a true practioner of a deadly martial art. Even if that guy had nothing in his hands. Because none of my gatka teachers ever told me how to swing effectivly or how to use my hips or what are the kill spots iwth a lathi. All i was taught was the pattern. So what i'm trying to say is that Whatever Guru ji has passed down to us is perfect, and shastar vidiya is perfect. My statement is that gatka is an extremely watered down version of shastar vidiya. The difference between both. Gatka teaches you how to swing a sword around really fancy so you look super deadly. and do patterns with kartars and shields. Also teaches u how to fence on a point system, which is my favourite part. Which is kool. However Gatka only has one penthra mool panthra. penthra means footwork. And footwork is not stressed to much in gatka. Any martial art always stresses footwork above every and anythign else. You need to have the roots strong before the tree can be strong. I've seen teachers teach penthra for a day and let kids grab sotis. Because there is nothing else to teach in gatka (footwork wise). However any marital artist will tell you, u have to train at least a few years before you can even touch a weapon. In gatka you can get a weapon the second or third day. And the weapons aren't realistic. You have swords which are flimsy and really dull. Where as in a real martial art you learn with a wooden version of the weapon first and gradually over time maybe years get to use the real version. Gatka you go straight to the flimsy sword and never move up. Also kill spots and how to actually use a sword are never taught. Pressure points breaking bones, different types of weapons and what each weapon can do and what its strengths and weaknesses are are not taught. Basically most akharas when you watch ppl do gatka thats pretty much all they know. They don't know anything more then what they are showing you. That has been my experience. There might be other types of akharas out there however i'm not aware of any of them. As for your comment on are bibiya strong? LOL. In muy thai kick-boxing i met bibiya who could take me out in a fight pretty quick when i first started off. And i'm six foot five. Its not how big or strong you are its about how much experience you have and how good your technique is. LOL. I have met singhnis i would not mess with. Your a brave guy making that female comment. I hope it helps.
  7. Please don't use the words shastar vidiya and Gatka interchangably. They are two totally different things. Shastar vidiya refers to the ancient and pretty much lost martial art of Gursikhs. And Gatka refers to a show put on to impress ppl. Trust me I'm Not a U.K NIHUNG. And I have nothing against Gatka as long as its not misrespresented as a true fighting system. Which everyone seems to do now adays. I do gatka cause its fun and good excercise. But I can't stand it when ppl try to make it out to be the "martial art" of the gursikhs. If anyone has taken even a cheesy mcdojo (comericialized martial art) class they can see it is more effective and detailed then gatka. If anyones ever dedicated their life to a true and deadly martial arts then they can see that "Gatka" is way far behind. True martial arts of the sikhs is shastar vidiya. And i haven't learnt it but i can tell u from doing other martial arts Gatka is not it. I feel sorry for people who practice it thinking it will help them in a dangerous situation. Because a novice ninjitsu practioner would probably take out a vetran gatka "ustaad". Like i said i'm not putting it down. I just firmly believe gatka is not the martial arts of the sikhs and should not be marketed as such. Play it preform it for the oohs and ahhs of the crowd. Just don't let it get to your head that your learning the true form of shastar vidiya. Which in my mind is probably the purest and most deadilest martials art known to man. And trust me after a lot of research Gatka is not that. Sorry if i offended anyone. I just don't want gatka practioners to get a big head and be in a life or death situation and be filled with confidence in an art that may let them down in real combat. Once again not a u.k nihung. Just a singh who is observant.
  8. Nice post, You the MAN. I LOVE IT
  9. I don't know. I'm sick of bollywood. I think we need to stop complaining and start doing. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get the word out to the mainstream media about sikhi just pm me. Anyways what i wanted to say was at the end of the mool mantre i don't know if anyone else picked it up. But I was listening for it cause i know its a common mistake which should not be made by anyone claiming to be even somewhat religous. The lady says Waheguru ji DA khalsa AND Waheguru ji DI fateh. Listen close you will hear it.
  10. Yeah that Video was disgusting and shameful. Anyone who watched that and laughed can't be in my eyes considered a sikh. To me Sikhi is about love openess and tolerance of other faiths as long as they don't hinder anyone else. A Sikh doesn't laugh at the expense of someone elses Prophet. Thats pathetic. I mean how funny would we find it if someone tried doing that with our Gurus. I tell you so called Sikhs these days have no Sikhi in them. Really sad
  11. This is one of the most ignorant posts I have come across on this forum. I just can't respond to it. Its filled with too much ignorance and prejudice. Unbelivable
  12. Just a few preachers from India. Gianni Takhur Singh Ji Bhai Pinderpal Singh ji Gianni Maskeen Ji Sant Baba Ishar Singh Ji I think all the major Kathkaars are from India. I think the problem with sikhi parchaar is that its in the confinement of the punjabis. I mean its mostly done in punjabi and in gurdwaras. I think sikhi is the path for everyone, not just punjabis. Think about it, we had one Singh who dared to go outside the Punjabis and preach to Goray and look what happened. We have converts all over the world. We need more preachers speaking the language of the local ppl and spreading sikhi to everyone around the world. Naturally you will get converts because anyone can see what a jewel this panth is, we just need to introduce ppl to sikhi. I'm not saying stop doing parchaar in punjabi or forget punjabi. I'm saying we need to start branching out to everyone. Also we need to stop paying people to do kirtan and katha. It should be done by those who really love it and live it. Otherwise people who don't really believe in it start preaching for the money and to travel. :TH: Oh and as for sikhi being the fifth largest religion, are we including non-practicing people in this stat. I think we are. Because the amount of amritdharis i see in india and around the world, I doubt we are the fifth largest by just including amritdharis.
  13. I agree with veer Parwinder Singh. Its easy to say be united and keep the panth in Chardi Kalla, but it all starts with our jeevan. Braham Giannis didn't ever get caught up in all this petty stuff the youth are caught up in. We think we know more than we really do. We need to learn from true jevan valay gursikhs and focus on our own jeevan and that jeevan will help us all unite the panth
  14. I've been in sangat doing naam simran with the lights on and off. And personally I don't think you can compare the two. With the lights off its like there is absolute nothingness. All you can concentrate on is what your ears are hearing, and all you hear around you is other gursikhs japping. For all you know their can be shaheed singhs sitting there and japping also. Its truly amazing when you think about it. Your concentration is at a much higher level as well because you don't have light to distract you. How can I explain this. Your focal point is what you hear when the lights are off. Even if you have your eyes closed its hard to concentrate with the lights on. And you are more tempted to open up your eyes. Maybe it stems from the way light makes us naturally get up in the mornings by shining on us. It may be a natural thing, for example its much easier to wake up when you have the sun shining on your face than if you have all the blinds closed and your not letting in any sun. Agree? The same thing with simran when the lights are on you naturally wanna open up your eyes. Ultimately You want to get your mind to a state of nothingness, for example you don't wan't thoughts or images to to distract you while you say waheguru. This is very hard to do. So to help shut the lights off and you have the added feature of starting from darkness, one less distraction. And for those of you who are worried about ppl doing some inapropiate things infront of guru mahraj at AMRITVELA during SIMRAN, well thats why its best to seperate the sangat males and females. If a male is trying to grab another male, well my dear brothers thats why the Guru blessed us with the Kirpan. And if you ever hear of this or know it has happened to a sister it is you duty to tell the authorities and make sure they get the punishment they deserve. If telling the authorities doesn't work well than you have every right to take out the sword and use it because that is the most disgusting act i've ever heard of. Hope this helped.
  15. Fateh Penji, The title caught my eye because i've actually watched the secret. I've done a few things with the concepts of the secret theory in my life way before this dvd came out. I learned these things through personal development courses. Now ppl might ask well why do you have to go to a personal development course, doesn't sikhi have all the answers? My answer to that, yes sikhi has all the answers and gives so much more than these dr. phil's could dream about. However sadly all these wonderful jewels that our Guru gives to us are not expressed by our "punjabi elders" in the gurdwaras properly in my opinion. Imagine doing seminars in english at our gurdwara for the youth about things like "the law of attraction" and how it relates to gurbani. Imagine bringing in ppl who are not in sikhi and teaching them the practicality of gurbani and vibrations and sound waves and the power of meditation and giving examples from scientifically proven tests about how ppl who meditate have less stress and live longer. Can you imagine how productive that would be and how many non-sikhs and lost punjabi youth we could get to go towards the Guru. But I think that would be way to productive, I think we need to stay focused on the centries old problems of tables and chairs and gurdwara politics. Sorry I tend to go off sometimes. But what i'm trying but failing to say is look into these things like the secret and personal development stuff and then look into sikhi and see what sikhi has to say. Usually its aligned and sikhi gives you easier paths to enlightenment. Which these courses and ppl like dr. phil can never give you. But they can start you on the right path. Which is love. Always have your guru in mind and if something or some theory is in line with what the guru says than by all means try it. I have and its helped me get closer to sikhi. Because of a certain personal development course i took amrit. Because i realised all the love and beauty i experienced in this course was maginfied in sikhi a million times. However no on ever explained sikhi to me like that. I was always explained the black and white version of sikhi. This is right that is wrong. This jatha is correct this one isn't. It was only when i took this course that i realized i needed to stop listening to "my elders" and start reading and understanding gurbani for myself. I mean thats why guru ji wrote everything down. So we simple minded ppl could have access to the truth without going through any source. Anyways I hope i helped penji.. Man i rambled on in this post. Oh if you have any questions about the secret just msg me i can try to help explain what i know. As i have been into this type of stuff for quite some time.
  16. Khalsa Productions you are a big person, and your post touched my heart. I have infinite amount of love for you my brother. I hope I didn't say anything to offend you in my previous posts. I get a bit hot headed when i see something happening i strogly disagree with. :console: ... It takes a person who is truly trying to walk the path of sikhi to be able to apologize. And when I read what you are going through it really strikes me how strong some of our sikh brothers can be. Feel free to PM me if you have time. As for s133k_s1kh, I guess you have a point. I will try to post more if it helps people. I too come on here to learn.
  17. manmitchera i don't get what your point is.. chop em off? lol.. u guys make me laugh I only respond to posts on here when things really touch a nerve. Otherwise i don't bother because it doesn' tdo anything for my jeevan to argue with youngsters kaur khalistani lioness "You can easily judge the character of a man(human) by how he treats those who can do nothing for him." - James D. Miles "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." -Margaret Mead nice quotes especiallly the first one, absolutly beautiful.
  18. Ok I can't take these replies anymore. WOW the arrogance and ignorance of some of these replies just hurts me so deeplyg. Someone is asking you for support and what do we do. We make him feel like <admin-profanity filter activated>. BRAVO. This is what our kaum needs. Look no offence to all those who replied but plz be sensible with your replies i mean you guys might be the reason why he cuts his hair. What kind of paap will that be. Pushing him to get his head cut instead of kesh. I'm sure you have a hard life khalsa productions. But to make someone feel even worse when hes already at his wits end is consider a paap. And if he cuts his hair because of you ignorance your karm will be tied to his. Look i'm not preaching, or maybe I am i'm just so sick of inexperienced ppl giving advice on what they do not know and protraying the myth that we're all strict fundamentalists who look down on everyone and anyone whos deciding on a different lifestyle. I mean isn't AKAAL PURAKHS JOB TO JUDGE NOT OURS. Say what you want to me. But plz I beg the sangat here to stop putting this person down. Hes already close enough to cutting his hair. Stop pushing him to do it. Listen bro plz plz pm me. I hope you haven't cut your hair yet. I know exactly what your going through, Trust me maan i had the same experiences in my life at your age. And now I'm a an amritdhari for four years and proud and confident and with his kirpa untouched with what troubles you. I'm happier than ever bro, I know i made the right decision cause i stayed true to my Guru. This world is harsh no one will care about you, Not your family friends or anyone except AKAAL PURAKH. And our beloved Guru is always with God, Having Guru ji by our side is like having a Personal Body Gaurd from all this misery in this world. Trust me the other side seems sweet right now but its nothing but misery bro. I came from there i know. Anand is something that can't be described in words and Only our beloved can give us that. Just pm me and we can talk on msn. Even if you do cut your hair i won't judge you, just plz contact me before you do bro. I feel for you I have love for you. I'm your elder brother plz pm me. I hope you check this.
  19. I think everyone here needs a BIG HUG :console: . To all the Amritdharis out there prove your love and humility by embracing these non-amritdharis in such a way that they feel the love for the guru overflowing from us into them. That they are compelled to go towards sikhi because they see how much love and peace a gurus sikh has in him. Shaming them or making them feel like <admin-profanity filter activated> cause they are not amritdhari isn't helping us or them. Its time we embrace everyone one no matter what. As for the original question. Here is my advice. Do you do amritvela? naam abiyaas, seva, sangat and simran? If not I suggest you put your focus on that. Really focus on never missing a day. And do it with your heart. Then if you don't get the answer to your question on your own, ask Guru ji and he will give it to u. My point is a gursikh who practices sikhi with all his heart does not need to ask anyone else because Guru ji himself will show him the way. I know from experience. :T: so stop all this and start showing more :wubc:
  20. I understand where your coming from bro. I've never had this experience before but have heard and seen things that make me believe in ghosts. Maybe it is this sleep paralysis thing but I don't think so. I think you HAVE to do sohila with concentration and maybe more than once. I garuntee this will help you. Also if you can have a c.d of sukhmani sahib playing on a loop in your room, I feel this will also help. If you have any other questions I will be happy to help you any way i can, just PM me. Take care bro
  21. Waheguru Ji Ka khalsa Waheguru Ji ki fateh I hardly ever post unless I have something worthwhile to add. And in this case I think I do. I agree with both sides of this debate to an extent. I mean if voting for him gets the image of sikhi up that is so sorely needed then maybe we should. Notice how i added that maybe in there. At the same time I don't think you all should attack Bass singh because he doesn't want to vote for him. You guys are stating things like oh so what if he follows his own style of sikhi so matter of factly. Guys you need realize who this so called baba is he he follows. "As Sikhs there is far more that unites us then divides us, but we always seem to focus on the divisions, seems to be in the Sikh psyche. " I agree with this statement about us being divided but in the case of monty i don't think the issue as simple as uniting and dividing. Listen the guy follows a sant who monty thinks is cool cause they eat KFC for langar at his dera in edmonton. I don't know if any of you have even read that article about "monty's Guru". Well I did and i was shocked. Its not the case of like pyara said "just cos the man dont come to rehansabhais dont give us the right to attack his sikhi". Its not as simple as him not coming reinsabhais, its about him calling this fake baba his guru. This baba's list of wrong doings is very long. He has been charged, CHARGED nto accused but actually charged under the canadian law for DRINKING AND DRIVING TWICE. He has been accused by his own previous followers of stealing money in donations some of which he made a huge mansion with in b.c and some of which he spent in VEGAS. Yeah this is the type of hereo monty follows. Give me a break. Its interesting that no one in alberta or even canada has raised their voice against this proven mahant, but the same ppl who live in the same province and country as this fake sant raised their voices loudest when baba ranjit singh came down. Makes me sad at the intentions of these so called heroes who crusade against one person who in reality maybe made one mistake to which he apologized for numerous times, but the same ppl can't be bothered with a real proven pakhandi baba who has and contiues to lead ppl astray. Makes ya think. Anways my two cents. If anyone responds to this post plz do it in a polite manner.
