  2. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 - 11:15 By Jagmohan Singh AMRITSAR: Following the Bandh call given by Sikh hardliners and Sikh radical organizations, there was complete strike observed to express solidarity with the Balwant Singh Rajoana, co-accused in the assassination of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh. However, as per the edict of Akal Takht (the highest Sikh Temporal seat),every people of Sikh community were asked to wear saffron turban and affix saffron flag atop of the business establishments and residential areas to express anguish over the hanging order of Balwant Singh Rajaona, slated to execute on March 31 by the session court of Chandigarh. A sea of saffron has flooded in and around the Harmandhar Sahib popularly known as Golden Temple. Residents of the holy city Amritsar have hoisted saffron flags on their building and vehicles including cars and two wheelers as an expression of anguish against the death sentence of Rajaona. More than two thousands of SGPC employees including all the Sikhs priests of Golden Temple and other Gurdwaras have tied saffron turban even SGPC run hospitals and schools and colleges employees were also seen in Saffron turban. Bandh was strictly and completely observed around the Golden Temple as none of the business establishment was found opened even eating joints, restaurants, Dhabas were also found closed. The busiest shopping area inside the walled city like Hall Bazar and cloths markets where more than one lakhs foot fall of visitors registered on daily basis were also found shut. The bandh call also left its reflection on the State run bus service of Punjab Roadways, since none of the Government run bus hit the road following the band call. But at the same time Railway service remained as normal, since trains were moving as per schedule. So far no untoward incident reported by noon. Police have been keeping strong vigil in every nook and corner of the city to maintain law and order. http://punjabnewsline.com/content/rajoana-issue-complete-bandh-observed-amritsar/39508
  3. What next for Balwant Singh Rajoana? Here are three scenarios – legal options and possibilities Scenario 1 Option: The Patiala jail superintendent moves the Punjab and Haryana high court for stay on the Chandigarh court’s directive to hang Balwant Singh Rajoana on March 31, 2012. The grounds: One, he can’t be executed in Punjab because he was convicted by the Union Territory court. Secondly, the petitions challenging the sentence of Rajoana’s co-convicts Jagtar Singh Hawara and Lakhwinder Singh Lakha are still pending before the Supreme Court. Expert take: ''The outcome of the pending petition can have a legal bearing on Rajoana’s case'' says Punjab additional A-G Anupinder Singh Grewal. Adds Vinod Ghai, leading criminal lawyer:''Merely because Rajoana confessed his crime doesn’t mean that he should be hanged to death and others to life sentence on the same crime and same evidence.'' Possibility of stay: High Scenario 2 Option : The Punjab Government directly approaches the high court or the Supreme Court, seeking stay on the Chandigarh Court’s directive on execution of death warrant. The ground: A condemned prisoner cann’t be hanged unless the state gives a green signal on its preparations. In the present case, Punjab hasn’t made such an application to the Chandigarh court. The SC may even issue a stay on a petition filed by human rights lawyer Navkiran Singh and listed for hearing on Friday. Expert take: ''The settled law is that the session court fixes the date for hanging only on the request of state government'' says constitutional expert Pritam Singh Kumedaan. Possibility: High Scenario 3 The President acts on the mercy petition filed by the third party (Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee and others) and stays the execution till a decision on the CBI’s petition in the Supreme Court challenging the high court’s conversion of Hawara’s death sentence into life term. Expert take: ''Anyone can file the mercy petition and there is no issue of the 'locus standi' (legal right) on such petition'' says high court lawyer RS Bains. Possibility: Medium, because the President entertains the mercy plea only after the legal options are exhausted. http://www.hindustan...le1-831743.aspx
  4. A day-long bandh called by radical Sikh outfits to protest the proposed execution of Balwant Singh Rajoana, convicted in the Beant Singh killing case, disrupted normal life in parts of Punjab on Wednesday. A report from Patiala said the call for bandh evoked a total response in the city where Rajoana is lodged in the local Central Jail awaiting his execution on March 31 as per the orders of the Chandigarh Sessions Court. The situation in the industrial town of Ludhiana was peaceful. Restaurants and eating houses were open while commercial establishments in some markets were partially open. In Phagwara, the bandh was complete in the city located on the Delhi Jalandhar National Highway. Road traffic was plying normally though the number of passengers using public transport was few. Section of Sikhs took to streets in some areas carrying flags as security personnel patrolled sensitive areas to maintain peace.Hardliners Dal Khalsa, Khalsa Action Committee and Khalra Mission organisation have urged the Sikh community to voluntary shut down their business establishments and observe the day-long bandh peacefully. Security forces have been conducting flag marches at key locations in the state to instill sense of confidence among the people. Security around Patiala central jail where Rajoana is lodged had been beefed up with erection of additional security points. Special control rooms have been set up in the districts to keep an eye on the movement of protesters. On the directions of top temporal seat of Sikhs, Akal Takht, prayers are being held at different places in the state in support of Rajoana. Trade and industry leaders had on Wednesday asked the Punjab Government to ensure peace and tranquillity in the state in the wake of the bandh call. The special CBI court had awarded death sentence to Rajoana and Jagtar Singh Hawara in the Beant Singh case on August 1, 2007. Chandigarh court had issued the death warrant to the Patiala Jail authorities earlier this month, asking them to hang Rajoana on March 31. On August 31, 1995 as Beant Singh stepped out of his office at the high-security Punjab civil secretariat in Chandigarh, a suicide bomber blew himself up, killing the then chief minister and 17 others. Rajoana was the second human bomb to be used in case Dilawar failed in his mission. http://www.asianage....life-punjab-838

  6. Yes we can feel the power of the Khalsa. Bole so nihaal, Sat Sri Akal.
  7. Beant killer wants no mercy, terms Akalis 'traitors of religion' Ravinder Vasudeva, Hindustan Times Patiala, March 26, 2012 The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and its government may have pledged to make all possible attempts to save him from the gallows, but Balwant Singh Rajoana has scant regard for the "neeliyan paggaan wale (blue-turbaned)" leaders. "I read it in newspapers that the Akali leadership, SAD-BJP government and the Shiromaani Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC) are making efforts to get me mercy. Let me make it clear that I don't want or need any mercy of the leaders of an Indian State that I do not believe in," said Rajoana, the Babbar Khalsa militant convicted in the Beant Singh assassination case and currently lodged in Patiala Central Jail, in letter sent to the media through his sister Kamaljeet Kaur. He described the Akali leaders as "cheaters of Sikh religion", who "deserted the original path of Sikhism under pressure of the Delhi-based central government". For the denial of justice to several victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, too, Rajoana blamed the entire Akali leadership of Punjab. "If these leaders don't have the courage to ensure justice for the Sikh community, they should shed their blue turbans and kirpans (religious swords) and wear khakhi shorts and white caps instead." He also criticised the Congress and the BJP for trying to politicise his "mission". Rajoana rejected Beant Singh's family's statements that he should be pardoned. "I don't repent what I did," he said, appealing to his supporters not to disturb communal harmony in the state and to support his cause by displaying saffron flags on the day of his hanging.
  8. A great and very thought provoking article by S Jadev Singh Rai, Medical Doctor, with MA in politics, human rights activist and community worker.
  9. That is hitting the nail on the head. So Sikhsangat, please stop all divisive talk to show respect to Bhai Balwant Singh and also the world that we are one. Please close this thread, mods.
  10. The Wonder of the Shaheed – Shaheed da Gazab – Bhai Sahib Balwant Singh Rajoana Kaum shaheed Guru dey buhey Kar suthee Ardasaan Nation at the Guru’s door I was asleep after Ardas These lines penned by the Panth’s last poet – Harinder Singh Mehboob. These lines ring true today, as they did nearly three decades ago. It is the blood of the martyr that stirs a slumbering nation; it is the blood of the martyr that scares those in their palaces of power. Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana has shaken the Sikhs. From London to Ludhiana, from Surrey to San Francisco, Sikhs are showing that the spirit of the community is not dead. We are not so focused on elections, careers, wealth, and family to forget the soul of the nation. Although well-intentioned, I have seen some Sikhs circulating various petitions asking for clemency or a stay on the execution. They may not have read Bhai Sahib’s own words – he is calling to become a Shaheed. I humbly request people to stop circulating these petitions. Punjabis and Sikhs in music and in conversations often lament for “another Bhagat Singh” or another Jarnail of the Panth. The wonder of the Shaheed stands before us. He asks not for leniency, but he asks to be embraced in the arms of the Guru as he marches to his wedding day on March 31, 2012. He has proudly admitted his actions and seeks judgment not from the courts of tyrants, but only from the Court of the Timeless. We are to celebrate that one Sikh stands tall with dignity, his dastar, his smile, and his Guru. Others online have called for Ardas, akhand paaths, simran, and kirtan. All this is wonderful and should be done. However, Bhai Sahib Balwant Singh Rajoana has called for something else…. He has called ALL SIKHS to fly Kesri flags on March 31, 2012. Please tell your friends and family to fly the flag from their dorm rooms, homes, apartments, businesses, and offices. Share your pictures on the internet and social media so that we take strength from one another. As our last Panthic Jarnail repeatedly reminded us – We are NOT a minority; we are nation. The reason for Bhai Sahib’s request is in the essence of Sikhi. Shaheedi is not the act of an individual, it is a ‘witnessing’ of the ‘wonder of the Guru.’ It is to be shared and to be a public event. Sikhs in Punjab have mobilized. To those that have oft-heard naysayers state that Sikhs in Punjab “don’t care”, show them the pictures of the crowds of youth that came out in Ludhiana from their colleges to show their support. The Shaheed’s blood has woken them. The left their schools, work, jobs, and other responsibilities to come together at the India High Commission and express their solidarity with Bhai Sahib and to shout their voices at Delhi that we will have justice. (pagh salute @BlightySingh)The Sikhs on the west coast of the United States will form a sangat tomorrow at 12pm at the Indian Consulate at 530 Arguello Boulevard in San Francisco, CA. Buses will depart from Gurdwara Sahib Fremont at 10:30am;Gurdwara Sahib San Jose at 10am; Gurdwara Sahib El Sobrante at 11am; from Stockton Gurdwara at 9am; and from Yuba City (Tierra Buena) at 8:30am. PLEASE TAKE THE DAY OFF! For more information – please see the following facebook group – (pagh salute: @randep) The palaces of power are shaking. Bhai Rajoana has called out the corrupt traitors (gadaar) and politicians to take a stand on the last Ghallughara. The Prakash, the Sukhbirs, and Manpreet Badals quake; the Sant Samaj and all these so-called Panthic jathebandis tremble; their cronies sitting on the seats of SGPC president and even the jathedari shiver and beg to stall. The role of these men, as has been the case of their entire careers, is to delay, defer, and keep their kursi. They fear the Shaheed. They fear a man of convictions, for they have none. They have coffers of money, but no soul. Do not look for action from jathedars, politicians, and ‘leaders.’ They do not lead. They fear and caution against the violence of Sikhs, but give promotions to the murderers of Sikhs. The Guru has given you the spirit to take collective action. I have seen messages on facebook and other forums meant to divide and splinter. I see Babbar Khalsas claiming one that was never theirs. I see bickering and fighting. This is the time for unity, power, and determination. We stand united for justice. Tell Delhi Takht that we have not forgotten. Our pagh holds tall and we are 20 million together. We stand together at the threshold of momentous moment in our collective history. We stand at the Guru’s buhay (door). We are being awakened by the martyr. This is the wonder (gazab) of the Shaheed. On March 31, 2012 fly our flag high. Source: thelangarhall.com
  11. Thanks kindly for your puratan falsehoods, go back to dream world. No wonder you are so "highly" intellectual.
  12. And when the effects of drug abuse start to wear of, read the below and try to understand the true meaning of TRUTH. A number of modern Nihang Singhs observe some rituals and practices, which are contrary to Gurmat, for example consuming marijuana (‘bhang’), these customs and traditions crept in to Nihangs during the period when the Mahants (Hindu caretakers) managed and maintained our Gurdwaras in the 18th – early 20th century. During this period the Sikh religion was distorted and many non-Sikh practices infiltrated into the Sikh Panth. Those who follow these anti-gurmat practices claim that they are ‘old traditions’ (Puraatan Maryada) from the Guru’s time, however Gurbaani gives us enlightenment on whether these practices and observances are Gurmat (according to the guru’s teachings) or Manmat (self-willed). Reading and understanding Gurbaani it becomes apparent that some distortions have entered the traditions of the Nihangs and the wider Sikh community. ‘Bhang’ or ‘Sukhnidhaan’, which is produced from marijuana (cannabis), used by large number of Nihangs nowadays, is sometimes justified by quoting tales and stories, claiming the use of Bhang to be one of the ‘old traditions'. However, our Guru is eternal and with us forever. Why do we need to refer to stories and justifying traditions by claiming they are ‘old tradition’s passed down when we have Guru Granth Sahib Ji with us to tell us what is in accordance to Gurmat. Gurbaani clearly condemns the consumption of marijuana. Furthermore, medical studies carried out have proven that consumption of marijuana and cannabis on a regular basis leads to schizophrenia, and mental problems such as memory loss. The sad fact is that nowadays if you go to India you can see some Sikhs claiming to be Nihangs, who drink ‘Bhang’ and have become mentally unstable. http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Nihang
  13. So it is quite alright for these nihangs to use drugs and also blatantly sell them on road sides even after given clear orders from the highest Sikh clergy. And it is Baba Balbir Singh and not "Balbir". You must be really high on your favourite drug to call facts "rubbish". Truth is a bitter pill to swallow.
  14. The disgraced drug users were excommunicated from Sikhism for using this drug you are so fond of. Nihang Sikhs of Punjab, who are defenders of historic Sikh shrines are an exception and consume an intoxicant called bhang (cannabis) to help in meditation[14] ,[15][16] saying that it is puratan maryada (Punjabi for "old tradition"). Bhang is common in India; according to a legend, even the Hindu God Shiva was fond of bhang (cannabis) and it became his favourite food.[17] In 2001, Baba Santa Singh, the Jathedar of Budha Dal, along with 20 chiefs of Nihang sects refused to accept the ban on the consumption of bhang by the highest Sikh clergy.[18] Baba Santa Singh was excommunicated and replaced with Baba Balbir Singh, who agreed to shun the consumption of bhang.[19] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prohibitions_in_Sikhism
  15. Keep your pathetic views to yourself. TigerForce1 has made it very clear true Sikhs don't need drugs to go to the battlefield. Only pappus and pinkys like you need them to stay in dream world.
  16. This should become a protest by Sikhs world wide to expose the double standards of the corrupt judicial system of India.
  17. And the readers' opinions are also very good. This is the reawakening of the PANTH.
  18. It is not about finger pointing. It is him saying we will fill jails if asked to. The question is why does he need to be told in wake of these circumstances. Same goes for other jathebandis too.
  19. Where did Guru Sahibs say that? Please enlighten us with your research.
  20. Sweet as, bro. But east or west, SikhSangat was, is and will ALWAYS BE THE BEST !!!
  21. What is the story about [edited] Another copy cat site of SikhSangat. How many more floating around?
