  1. I would request members of Sikh Sagat to share greeting cards, sms messages with inspirational quotes on this forum in regards to Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Parkash Utsav. This can be send to our families and friends. Here is one from me ,
  2. Can Sikh Sangat please advise what date is Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Parkash Utsav ?
  3. My question which is pretty stupid but I am not sure is can we just like christmas celebrate shaheedian by distributing sweets/chocolates? The simple answer to this we do not distribute sweets/chocolates on Shaheedi Diwas. We go to the Gurdwara and bow our heads in gratitude to all those who gave away their everything for us.
  4. It was about Sikhs celebrating Christmas which includes giving gifts and everything else which goes with it.
  5. But inciting people to feel guilty at every turn is not the best way to get through to them. The constant finger-wagging and "shame on you" attitude when people are - on the whole - good people and obedient to their faith is occasionally off-putting, especially if one doesn't deserve to be made to feel inadequate and sub-par. We could always do more for Sikhi - of course there's no doubt about this. So you wrote the above without thinking? Learn to admit your ignorance and lack of ability to express your thoughts. THINK BEFORE YOU WRITE.
  6. We had a detailed discussion about the celebration of Christmas and having Christmas trees by Sikhs on this forum. http://www.sikhsangat.com/Index.php?/topic/64477-christmas-trees-in-houses-of-sikhs/ Have a read of the comments of the Christmas celebrating "Sikhs."
  7. In your experience have you seen any kind of remorse or guilt in the cut hair individuals who call themselves Sikhs. Have they ever felt the desire to become keshdhari? In your experience, what kind of principles of Sikhi would they be teaching their children? Nearly all the children of these cut hair individuals have cut hair too. We are trying to fool ourselves by saying these people are "obedient to their faith." And you yourself have admitted you do not have many Sikh friends. So where is your experience coming from? Or are you just jumping to conclusions without any basis to make those conclusions.
  8. And what makes you so judgemental in saying people are " people are - on the whole - good people and obedient to their faith". Which rule makes people obedient to their faith when they cannot follow the basic tenets of their faith.
  9. Congrats on your decision on wearing a Pagh to school. We are so proud of you. The Turban is a symbol of bravery and honour. Here is why Sikhs wear turbans. http://www.sikhcoalition.org/Sikhism11.asp This will hopefully give you all the answers you need and the confidence to wear the turban to school. If you any other concerns, please feel free to ask.
  10. What is the use of taking part in discussions when you do not want to change your ritualistic mindset. May the essence of Sikhi prevail on you one day.

    Jot ( Maryada )

Check this out http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/63525-sikh-rehat-maryada-regarding-hindu-rituals/ This is against the Sikh Rehat Maryada and is followed by manmukhs and against the tenents of Sikhism.
  12. We are laughed at because we allow ourselves to be at at. We are to be blamed because we lack self respect. No body can dare to laugh at you if you tell that person who is laughing at you that you will not take any stupidity from him about our religion. But the fact is that we join these jokers and make fun of our own people.
  13. You need some reading lessons. When you get them and become better at understanding what you reading, perhaps your understanding will improve. What I have said is the shamelessness of monah who donot have the courage to follow the basic tenents of Sikhism today having the cheek to call themselves a majority part of the Sikh panth. When we were growing up, seeing a monah brought utter disgust in our minds. Being aware of our history, our sacrifices of our ancestors, we could not comprehend how a Sikh could dare disrespect his kesh. The monahs did not go out proclaiming that they are the panth. They were just a part of the larger hair cut comunity. And look at the affairs today. Because we were born in Sikh family, we can become monah and bacause we are so many monahs , we are now the Sikh Panth. PATHETIC.
  14. The entire Sikh world should be united in fighting this judgement. We need to forget our differences and show everyone that we are all against the attack on our identity. We owe this to coming generations.
  15. You need a quite a lot of learning to do. I cannot believe the depth of your shamelessness in disrespecting the Panth. The Panth was formed by the sacrifices of our ancestors who gave their everything for us. They preferred death happily than deviate from their faith. The monah who have not an iota of faith, courage or shame to follow the faith of their ancestors and be grateful to their ancestors to be given the gift of Sikhi, today want to be included in the Panth just by right of birth. This state of affairs has come about because Gursikhs have turned a blind eyes to the shamelessness of the monahs. Quanity can never ever compete with quality. The monahs are an insult to Sikhism and no matter how much they pretend, they can never be called Sikhs or be part of the Panth.
  16. Very well said. We should always remember the sacrifices of our Shaheeds.
  17. You are right there but what concerns me is that Patits will use this judgment to justify their acts of betrayal of our identity.
  18. Thanks for that. This verdict is a direct attack on our Sikh identity and has to be challenged all around the world.
  19. Non Amritdhari Sikhs who do not cut their hair are not Patits. So please get your facts right. And there are many such Sikhs around the world.
