  1. Exactly as simran345 says above :biggrin2: To hide or look for loopholes is bordering dishonesty and not a satogun thought in any way. :nono:
  2. It is not inflammatory as you guessed sunnyji. and there is nothing wrong with the natural approaches as mentioned by username1 above. :nono: They are much less likely to do you harm compared to conventional medicines. One should first look at exactly what your trying to treat and the options available. :biggrin2:
  3. Gur-Man-Tar Man=Mind. Tar=Tool Why a tool ?? How does One steady their mind and stop following their thoughts ? Well, I certainly need a Tool to help me with this and mine is the Gurmantar-Waheguru ! As for all the yapping about rituals, this is nonsense....... -typical missionary/afghana talk ! Rituals help define a faith or religion. Blind rituals where there is NO spiritual attainment from empty actions is not gurmat. If you want to call parroting simran a ritual, then you can if it pleases you Mr Hsingh, but at the end of the day it is NOT empty or blind, and there certainly can be spiritual attainments
  4. Do you also suffer from other symptoms such as itchy yeast infections, in groin area and feet (athletes feet)...etc... Does your body feel all heavy like you going to collapse and not be able to get up as opposed to collapsing if feeling very light headed/dizzy ? If your atma/soul is feeling this heat, the doctors won't be able to diagnose it.- they can only diagnose physically.
  5. Some Very Good advice by the posters above, especially Shastaar ji's and Wing 23 ! :biggrin2: I seriously suggest such a holistic and natural approach to these issue for everyones physical and mental wellbeing. We lose too many youth to drugs and liquor because they have to tackle a few little insecurities, anxieties, shyness, lack of confidence, self esteem...etc...etc.. The 'quick fix' of intoxicants and even most prescription meds is never good in the long run.
  6. Reading the above was a little amusing, because after reading your posts and the approach you have, I am sure that many other members and myself would say that you are the PERFECT candidate for the ''assuming'' sikhs you describe in the above underlined !!! :excited: :lol2: :excited:
  7. I don't think that anyone is arguing about the mool mantar ending at 'gurparsad' or 'nanak hosi bi sach'',- I think that arguing stemmed from what mantar leads to what !! Like you say, you can either do jap or don't do it, the choice is yours but there is no point arguing of what one should and shouldn't do. For ALL those young/new/ beginner sikhs out there who have probably got confused reading this.... My advice is that if you are just trying to start and walk the path or find the ropes, then start with Gurmantar .''WaheGuru'' to begin with. Once you start this with dedication and devotion, then the rest will follow with his kirpa. That is just my personal opinion from my own experience. However, I know some people who start with ''Satnaam Waheguru'' or just ''Satnaam''. - These sikhs are also progressing very well, it's not as if one will make things speedy and the other may leave you lagging behind ! Interestingly, there is scientific evidence of the ''SATNAAM'' being very effective in stimulating the 84 meridian points that further lead to stimulation of hypothalamus and pineal gland. But, this is science and i don't doubt it. Nonetheless, we should not approach such issue with just science in mind because without any dhian it can be an empty practice. Always think -GURMAT !!!
  8. Simran ji, don't worry but you should just stick to Gurmantar =WAHEGURU. Of course there are stages, because if we have 2 people doing gurmantar jap with exactly the same devotion and love but one of them has only been doing it a week whereas the other has been doing over a few years, then I can assure you that the 2nd one will be having a difference experience and completely different outlook on life compared to the one who has only been doing for a week. With Simran and abyhias, comes Gurmat Gyan knowledge, which all happens in stages. You can't just wake up one day after your 1st week of simran and have ALL the gurmat Gyan knowledge !!
  9. I had a few doubts at one time in deciding what was mool mantar, beej mantar and Maha mantar. Although, i am no scholar and have only self taught myself gurmukhi in the last few years, i simply looked at the grammar of how the beginning of Guru granth sahib ji was composed. Maybe, you will understand why it made sense to me to differentiate between maha mantar and mool mantar. here goes......... One Universal Creator God, TheName Is Truth Creative Being Personified No Fear No Hatred Image Of The Undying, Beyond Birth, Self-Existent. By Guru's Grace~ Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯ nām karṯā purakẖ nirbẖa▫o nirvair akāl mūraṯ ajūnī saibẖaʼn gur parsāḏ. Always been arguments that moolmantar ends here because next we have JAP written with 2 Dhandis on either side, to specify that JAP bani begins. However, look carefully and you see that the 2 dhandis are written to specify the end of line. 1st line ends at gurprasad. and the JAP bani begins with 2 dhandis on either side of it. ॥ Chant And Meditate: Jap. True In The Primal Beginning. True Throughout The Ages. Āḏ sacẖ jugāḏ sacẖ. True Here And Now. O Nanak, Forever And Ever True. ||1|| Hai bẖī sacẖ Nānak hosī bẖī sacẖ. ||1|| Now, we can see the number 1 written at end to specify it is first tuk or line after JAP had begun. However if you look further then- ਸੋਚੈ ਸੋਚਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਸੋਚੀ ਲਖ ਵਾਰ ॥ By thinking, He cannot be reduced to thought, even by thinking hundreds of thousands of times. By remaining silent, inner silence is not obtained, even by remaining lovingly absorbed deep within. Cẖupai cẖup na hova▫ī je lā▫e rahā liv ṯār. The hunger of the hungry is not appeased, even by piling up loads of worldly goods. Hundreds of thousands of clever tricks, but not even one of them will go along with you in the end. So how can you become truthful? And how can the veil of illusion be torn away? Kiv sacẖi▫ārā ho▫ī▫ai kiv kūrhai ṯutai pāl. O Nanak, it is written that you shall obey the Hukam of His Command, and walk in the Way of His Will. ||1|| Hukam rajā▫ī cẖalṇā Nānak likẖi▫ā nāl. ||1|| ...The number 1 appears again after hukam rajiee chalnaa Nanak likhia naal. The bani carries on as such with pauri 2, 3.. .. all in sequence. So, the number 1 or specification to indicate first pauri/shabad/tuk or mantar appears TWICE ! Therefore, what would you call the verse before this pauri numbering of 1,2,3,4,.... begins after it specified IIJAPII ? Upto hosi bi sach has to be mool mantar, as then it makes sense for the Maha Mantar to be up to where the first 2 dhandies finish the line. Otherwise, if you think or doubt that the mool mantar is up to Gurprasad, then what and where is Maha mantar ??? It doesn't work out correctly no matter what you try because there will be some irregularity with Maha mantar, Beej mantar and mool mantar. The ONLY way that you can distinguish them ALL clearly is the way explained in OP.
  10. Maybe they do ! Maybe, that's why the SGPC doesn't specify it as a bujjar kurehit. However, eating halal will get you excommunicated !I really doubt that any gurmukhs or high avastha gursikhs have any appetite or desires for taste. The foods and the desires of taste, I think affect the different gunas of maya(rajo, sato, tamas) in different ways. Even Guru Nanakjis quote from ang 1289, below- which the missionaries love to use to justify no wrong in meat is actually not talking about the right or wrong of meat. Mās mās kar mūrakẖ jẖagṛe gi▫ān ḏẖi▫ān nahī jāṇai. The fools argue about flesh and meat, but they know nothing about meditation and spiritual wisdom. Ka▫uṇ mās ka▫uṇ sāg kahāvai kis mėh pāp samāṇe. What is called meat, and what is called green vegetables? What leads to sin? When looking at it deeply, my personal vichaar is that it he is calling the FOOL the person who argues about the taste and this meat issue is the classic because the brahmins were claiming at the time that a religious person has to be vegetarian. However, the brahmins of the past as well as kashatryas were and had been consumers of beef and horse meat. Hence, at Guruji's time these debates were popular. And then to top it all at the time, the muslims were and still claim that eating meat is absolutely great as .long as it is halal and has been blessed by there bismillah allah prayer My conclusion is that he is NOT talking about the foolish who debate the rights or wrongs of meat, BUT actually the foolishness in justifying the right or wrong of the taste of tongue. Why else would you justify eating meat ?? It's ALL about TASTE no matter what one claims. Guru Nanak ji says that ''only fools argue about flesh and meat but they KNOW NOTHING of Meditation or Spiritual Wisdom'' (Gian Dhian) and if you do know about meditation and have some gian dhian, then you will know how foolish it is to argue about taste because these wise people don't have appetites for taste at all. There only hunger is to be with ONE Akaal Purakh, ek onkaar,
  11. deleted- cannot get the gurmukhi fonts spaced correctly.
  12. You get the same in both boats. There are some monay, who feel that they are not restricted, so they can do what they want. At the same time they give impressions that the amritdharis are tied down and have to stick to their rehat -They look at this in a degrading manner. On the other had, there are full pagh- dhari and amritdhari sikhs that may not pay too much attention to monas and tend to ignore them....but this is not the picture as a whole. Some of these feelings do come quite naturally and we all have to try to not be prejudice. I know , because i was a mona all my life for over 35 years and back then i would always see a singh as a singh. This means that i always gave my natural respect to a paghwala Singh, whether they had full dhari/trimmed, amritdhari or not... However, now that I haven't cut my hair in a few years, i notice that whenever I am out and i see a Singh with a trimmed beard- I naturally think to myself '' he trims it !''. Sometimes, i get a taxi and when i see a full sardar, i feel a natural sense of being more relaxed. I know it's a little nauhghty, but i have to tell myself to be Equal and Fair. These are natural weaknesses that we all have but we have to confront them and admit them to ourselves to be able to conquer them. If someone out there claims that they are NOT inclined to some sort of prejudice, then they are only lying to themselves and making their own battle with the 5 chor even harder.
  13. That's a good post by Harsharan, and it is very much with my interpretation and understanding. :biggrin2: Sometimes, I have thought about the 'Shabad' being the vibration of Naam, but i haven't delved into that too much to explore further. I am aware that radhasoamis call 'Naam' a gurmantar that they give you when initiated and you have to keep it secret ! :omg: Don't get confused thinking that this is what naam is ! You could say that the idea if Naam is misused slightly here according to gurmat gurbani. Suki, this is because some of these deras and jathabandis cause confusion and sometimes even claim that ''you can only get the real naam from us!!" However, let's not divert the topic into other dera definitions or the usual bashing that some us love to jump to. Simran345 has raised a very valuable question here and it took me a long time to fully comprehend the true meaning of shabad and naam.
  14. Well done. I'm glad that this clarification has been made above. We still have sikhs confused and fearing that they are doing the wrong one, hopefully tis message can get across.
  15. if it's worn to mislead someone into thinking you are a sikh or from a family of sikhs, then that's where the problem arises. Many cases in Midlands UK, where suley wearing kara to mislead young girls so that they can groom them !
  16. No worries scali. I understand, thanks for explaining. It just goes to show that most of us mean well on here and sometimes we get misinterpreted and then the issue just sidetracks. I too, probably came across as if i'm endorsing adam and eve, but i was merely trying to highlight the analogy and similarity that SHOULD exist in the real interpretations as far as i understand. No harm, no offense and Waheguru bless.
  17. Respected Scaliji, Instead of calling my post bulls**t, why don't you read carefully what i wrote ? Did i mention the devil as being a strong enough entity as God ? I will show the quote from my post that may help you understand what i said, in case you simply misinterpreted it
  18. Jaspreet has repeatedly made false and calculated accusations from different angles of sikhi since being on here. We all make mistakes and grab the wrong end of the stick sometimes, but it's always easier to own up with your hands up and say 'sorry',' misunderstood', 'looked at it incorrectly'...etc. But instead he just ducks and dives in an attempt to divert the attention. So we ask again, for the umpteenth time......'Where in the video' ???????
  19. If anyone saw the supersize me movie about the damage of mcdonalds, you may remember .- That more american kids recognized a picture of ronald mcdonald than a picture of jesus christ !!! :lol2:
  20. There is actually more to it than you realise. In fact, not even todays bible bashers realise what the true significances of bible stories were. This is because the bible has been repeatedly adulterated over the centuries by Kings and rulers in power. In effect, there is No True christian religion in line with what was thousands of years ago. What really scares me is that christinaity has been tampered with over the few thousand years, yet it is still very much alive and kicking today. Whereas, we have our sikhi that has been divided and and tampered in different ways over just a few hundred years and look where we are today ?? We are at a stage, where we all have to make the extra effort to try and keep it together. It scares me to think what and where sikhi would be in another thousand years ?? With regards to Adam and Eve, you should think about what actually was the serpent representing ? What was the apple representing ? Or better still, what does the serpent represent in bani ? (Not endorsing anyone's work...just my thinking!)
  21. :stupidme: You guys get me all confused :stupidme: Should i get rid of my Christmas tree and tell the kids that they are not having any presents ?? Although as young kids, they are fully aware that they are not christian and a christmas tree is not going to make Jesus happy and Guru Nanak ji upset ! :blink2: . It's all about some holiday fun and joy. It's a time when cousins and friends are off work and you get to visit each other. Is christmas taking advantage of us? or are we taking advantage of christmas ? What permanent scars is achristmas tree going to leave on me or my kids ?
  22. One mistake that is often made is to think of Free will as being in contrast to His Will or HUKAM. This is where differing opinions and understandings arise from what i gather. For all those that think there is absolutely no free will and that all our actions are played by him.............(have a little think of this) - Someone once said to me.....that if God has dictated all my doings of rights and wrongs, then WHY do I have to feel like asking for Forgiveness for my wrongdoings.??? Why be sorry for doing wrong ? Why ask for forgiveness ? I think of free will as being part of maya-ego-illusion, that is still under the backdrop or umbrella of governing HUKAM. We cloud our minds and fall under the influence of maya, or you could say that our Ego-fuelled mind marries the Maya. Take away the Maya and Ego..and so Vanishes any ideas of Self-will.
  23. You can call it whatever you want to, but FREEWILL is simply an Illusion and part of the maya-illusion itself. HUKAM is the will of Truth from the Truth and in line with the Truth. This is NEVER an illusion.
  24. I know you feel unsure about speaking to a professional counselor, but you shouldn't worry. Remember, that whatever you tell them will ALL be in the strictest confidence and besides, you don't have to tell them everything at first. You can just approach and tell them whatever you feel comfortable talking about. I'm not sure whereabout you are in the world, so I'm not sure about the credentials you should look for at first, but it's import that you are in the personal comfort zone, no matter who you see. Also remember, that if you don't feel comfortable whilst there, then you are not obliged to continue ! I know people will say do simran and do path, but this won't be easy if you have that initial problem of trying to get motivated. I don't know what experience you have with this previously, but i may be able to suggest accordingly with regards to what other self-help materials you can try and approach.
