  1. Really? Sikh girls are cool here in Canada. They don't run away from me, but they do have staring problems though. :D
  2. How gay. Are you a homophobia? whats wrong with wot he said? lol its kinda true if u get a long then y let age get in the way I agree what Vato said. 'Love' doesn't have an age. I don't understand what is wrong of saying that.
  3. How gay. Are you a homophobia? Are you failing English101? Ha. Me fail English?
  4. Age is just a number. It is all about maturity, morals and of course love.
  5. Seriously though, why do you care so much if they call themselves Sikhs or not? Is their bad behavior affecting your relationship with God? :D
  6. Wow! Are people (including Sikhs) in the UK that unaware of Sikhi? I am seriously having a hard time believing some of these stories in this thread.
  7. Seriously though, why do you care so much if they call themselves Sikhs or not? Is their bad behavior affecting your relationship with God?
  8. I never denied women don't do bad stuff but that isn't the question at hand bai, the question was about turbans. man you think too much and always go off-track. Well you did said "I see lot of men in dastars doing bad things" to be fair. I personally have seen women with turbans doing bad things. I just didn't want people to forget about them too.
  9. How about having a Sikh day at Canada’s Wonderland? There is an Indian/Punjabi day (I think) at Wonderland so why not try to have a sikh day wonderland (if there isn’t one) too?
  10. On a side note, I find it funny how you only mention men. What about women who do bad things as well? I am sure there are keshdhari women out there that are just as bad as those non-practising keshdhari men too.
  11. Agreed. but why do they call every turban wearing person in Punjab or west a "sikh" ? Shouldn't they be called punjabis if they ain't following sikhi (we are talkin about people who wear turbans) ? Me personally, I let "God" decide who is a Sikh or not. I think people who do call those "singhs" (the ones not following sikhi) Sikhs are usually the ones that think Punjabi culture and Sikhi is the same thing. Also the lack of knowledge of the sikh religion in the sikh community plays a role here as well.
  12. Not funny. That mona wearing kara topic isn't such a bad topic to discuss about.
  13. Turban has always been part of Indian/Punjabi culture. People in India have been wearing turbans before Sikhi was even created. So to answer your first question, I will say both. It is a Punjabi and Sikh thing.
  14. Good thread, I just hope the mod doesn't delete it. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=252946 *sits and waits for this thread to get fired up with heated comments*
  15. Well if she is reading this thread, then all I have to say to her is: LOSE SOME WEIGHT WOMAN and stop talking crap about Indo-Canadian community. We aren't that bad.
  16. That is a good thing? I hope so. I think people shouldn't be too harsh on the west. It isn't that bad here in the west compare to India.
  17. Yeah, he is a great man and hero to a lot of us Punjabis. I hope his dream (having all Indians united) would become a reality someday. Too much hate in the Indian community these days.
  18. Oh yeah, make sure you people don't held every sikh event at the gurdwara. Maybe running these sikh events at college campus or having some kind of fair would be a great way to attract interest from non-sikhs.
  19. I think there are enough events out there that non-sikhs (adult ones at least) don't mind attending, but the problem is that these events aren't promoted effectively and also I find that non-sikhs don't feel comfortable & unwelcome (to certain extent) at these kinds of events at all. So people who are running these sikh events need to do a better job promoting these events (don't just promote it in the gurdwara) and atmosphere of these events need to be more friendly and make non-sikhs feel comfortable (maybe dumb it down a bit when preaching about sikhi to them).
  20. Those who have cutt their hair r not sehajdharis but PATITS SEHAJDHHARI term has been misinterpreted by rss and communist people sehajdhari as per SGPC ACT 1925 is that person with uncutt hair but without AMRIT. What are you talking about? Sehajdhari applies to those who don't keep their 5 k's. There is also a term called "keshdhari" in SGPC Act 1925 as well. They're sikhs who wear turbans, but never took amrit. Patit is describe in SGPC act 1925 as keshdhari who trim/cut their hair and amritdhari who commit one of 4-5 sins. THE SIKH GURDWARAS ACT, 1925: Sikh “Sikh” means a person who professes the Sikh religion or, in the case of a deceased person, who professed the Sikh religion or was known to be a Sikh during his life time. If any question arises as to whether any living person is or is not a Sikh, he shall be deemed respectively to be or not to be a Sikh according as he makes or refuses to make in such manner as the [Provincial Government], may prescribe the following declaration:- I solemnly affirm that I am a Sikh, that I believe in the Guru Granth Sahib, that I believe in the Ten Gurus and that I have no other religion “Amritdhari Sikh” means and includes every person who has taken khande-ka-amrit or khanda pahul prepared and administered according to the tenets of Sikh religion and rites, at the hands of five pyaras or `beloved ones’.” “Patit” means a person who being a keshadhari Sikh trims or shaves his beard or keshas or who after taking amrit commits any one or more of the kurahits].” [49. Qualifications of electors.— Every person shall be entitled to have his name registered on the electoral roll of a constituency constituted for the election of a member or members of the Board who is a resident in that constituency and either— (i) is on the electoral roll for the time being in force of persons entitled to vote for the election of a member to represent a Sikh urban or rural constituency of the [Provincial Assembly], or (ii) is a Sikh more than twenty-one years of age, who has had his name registered as a voter in such manner as may be prescribed: Provided that no person shall be registered as an elector who— (a) trims or shaves his beard or keshas except in case of sehjdhari; (b) smokes; © takes alcoholic drinks.] Notice how sehajdhari are excluded when comes to hair? http://punjablaws.gov.pk/laws/33.html#_ftnref49 u r just showing unamended act as per new amended act added by in 2001 SEHAJDHARI has been redifined which was challenaged in PUNJAB AND HARYANA HIGH COURT BUT DB LED BY SINGHVI PASSED ORDER IN FAVOUR OF AMENDMENT AND SO BADLY SNUBED THE PETITIONERS AND ASKED THEM IF THEY CONSISDER THEMSELVES HIGHER THAN GURU JI REHAT CANNOT BE ALTERED . SEHAJDHARI FEDERATION CHIEF WITH RSS LINKS WENT TO SUPREME COURT DESPITE THE FACT THAT CASE WAS ADMITTED IN HIGH COURT AND WAS PENDING AND SEHAJDHARI CHIEF WAS ASKED TO GET OUT OF SUPREME COURT AND THEIR ADVOCATE ALSO GOT GOOD DRESSING DOWN BY JUDGES WHICH IS ON RECORD AND THESE RSS AGENTS KEEP ON BOASTING BUT AND 2004 ELECTIONS WERE HELD ACCORDING TO NEW AMENDMENT WHICH DEFINES SEHAJDHARI AS THOSE SIKHS WITH UNCUTT HAIR BUT WITHOUT AMRIT. DO NOT MISLEAD OTHERS BY UNAMENDED ACT NEW ACT WITH AMENDMENT IS AVAILALE IN A BOOK WRITTEN BY ADVOCATE NAVKIRAN SINGH PLEASE GO THROUGH NEW ACT. even old SEHAJDHARI DEFINITION was through act in 90s which created a lot of heat Dude, don’t type all your letters on caps lock. It is hard to read. Anyway, you said the act 1925 has been changed? If so, then can you please provide me the new act? It has been written repealed by amendment of 2001 old definition of sehsjdhari has been of 1925 has been added for details u can search pand h high court website orders were deliverved by judges after going through sikh history now sikhs with uncutt hair r sehajdhari do not carry away by propagation of leftists and rss now in 2004 elctions and future elctions to be held by new amendment sehajdhari federation got good dressing down at supreme court and high court by taking stay on elections otherwise elections were due on 2001. I have mentioned the single line that is amendment if u have any doubts u can ask through this forum my humble request is do not get mislead by anti panthic forces unfoutunately new act has only one book written navkiran singh there is no book on all gurdwara rules in detail. 21. Great quote. I guess 99.999% "sikhs" (including the ones on this site) are bunch of dogs, pigs, jackasses, crows and snakes. I guess 99.999999999% people in this world are bunch of dogs, pigs, jackasses, crows and snakes. I will keep this quote in mind if someone asks me how sikhs view non-sikhs. Care to define what sikh is and who exactly is a sikh?
