  1. Even when the ‘Chetna’ march was peaceful, the government has decided to file possible charges of sedition on some unknown people who ‘will be identified later’ . Source: The Tribune - http://www.tribuneindia.com/2007/20070626/punjab1.htm#17 . Khalsa Chetna marchers booked Vijay Mohan Tribune News Service Bathinda, June 25 A case has been registered against several persons, who raised anti-national slogans and distributed inflammatory material during the Khalsa Chetna March yesterday. A case has been registered Sections 124(a) and 153(a) and 153 (b) of the IPC for anti-national activities and instigation against unidentified persons at Talwandi Sabo police station on the complaint of assistant sub -inspector Mohan Singh who was on duty there yesterday. The peosons will be identified and traced from the video films and photographs of the march, the police said. Though the procession was peaceful, slogans in favour of 'Khalistan' and Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale were raised, to which the police had objected earlier.
  2. Prajapati means the 'lord of the people' . In the old Hindu kingdoms a king often used to be called prajapati. 'Parajapati Sabha' sounds like a Hindu organization. But you say it has a Nishan Sahib on it. So it may be one of those ‘interfaith’ temples like Sacha Sauda or like the one along the same lines. The Gurdwara committee should know what it is. If you ask at the gurdawara what it is, please also bring it to their attention that Sikh marayada prohibits opening another gurdwara opposite to or very near an already existing one. ( The exception is only the historical gurdwaras). At present there is a case that is under consideration at the Akal Takht about what to do about a gurdwara opened recently. The recently opened gurdawar is about a building or so away from a much bigger gurdwara in Ludhiana. (It looks that the new gurdwara, in Ludhiana was opened to make money and steal some sangat that comes to the bigger gurdwara).

  4. I read the following news and analysis about tomorrow’s (June 24, 2007) march from Dina Kangar (in Moga ) to Takht Damdama Sahib . This news is copied from The World Sikh News website. Looks like it is turning out to be what many have predicted. Only the younger Sikhs in the march, while the so called ’leaders’ and most of the Sant and Babas backing out. Do Ardaas for their safety and for them to be able to complete it successfully without police interfering and turning it into an ugly situation. http://worldsikhnews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=736&Itemid=29 Tension abounds as Khalsa Action Committee's march due to start in a few hours Written by Daljit SIngh Saturday, June 23, 2007 Sarna, Nandgarh pull back, Bhai Daljit Singh, Kanwarpal Singh, others dig in SALABATPURA/DINA KANGAR: Punjab continues to be sitting on a dynamite as far as tensions at the grassroot level are concerned, and in a few hours, the Khalsa Action Committee's much awaited march will be on the way, criss-crossing the disturbed terrains of Malwa. Flag marches across Malwa have become so routine that they now figure only on the inside pages of newspapers, the Khalsa Action Committee is adamant on taking out the march against the Dera Sauda from Gurdwara Dina Kangar in Moga to Takht Damdama Sahin in Talwandi Sabo and the tussle between the panthic leaders and the administration continues about the route of the march which almost touches Salabatpura, the epicentre of volcanic reaction in Punjab to the antics of Gurmeet Ram Rahim. But also keeping pace is the sad part of the news trickling in, something almost symptomatic of many a Sikh struggle. It is about intra-fraternity differences. Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Commitee president Paramjit Singh Sarna has pulled out of the Khalsa March, Takht Damdama Sahib jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh has asked that it be postponed and a split seems fast emerging between the Sarnas and rest, which include Bhai Daljit Singh of Akali Dal (Amritsar), Kanwarpal Singh of Dal Khalsa, Mohkam Singh of Damdami Taksal and others. The SGPC has also asked that the march be posponed, the move seemingly the first indication that the unity under the larger umbrella of the Akal Takht could be lost due to any poor handling now on part of the clergy. Akal Takht jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti is cutting short his trip to Canada and a meeting has been scheduled for June 27 to discuss the apology in a sealed envelope. (Interestingly, most of the contents of the sealed envelope have already spilled out in Punjab newspapers, again indicating poor and smudgy handling of the issue). Sarna is believed to be taking a line that he has achieved the best that could have been achieved by extracting the apology from the Dera Sauda. However, most panthic leaders (read, other than those belonging to the camp of Parkash Singh Badal) are not particularly enthused by the apology's wording. Once again, the apology is not signed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The panthic lobby is especially peeved with Nandgarh for his changed version. Initially, Nandgarh had emerged as one of the most outspoken critics. On its part, the Khalsa Action Committee (KAC) has declared it would go ahead with the planned agitation. While Jathedar Nandgarh claimed he had asked the Khalsa Action Committee to defer the march in view of Akal Takht Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti's appeal against agitations without approval from the clergy but supporters of the protest said it was a move by the Parkash Singh Badal government to scuttle their plans. Dal Khalsa general secretary Kanwarpal Singh said they had planned the June 24 March with the consent of Jathedar Vedanti. "Moreover, Jathedar Nandgarh, with whom we discussed the plan thrice, had initially agreed to participate. His U-turn is only an indication that he has issued his appeal at Badal's behest," he said. SAD (Amritsar) deputy chief Bhai Daljit Singh said the planned agitation could not be deferred. "We have made all preparations for the protest march and any decision to defer it would be detrimental to the interests of the community." Damdami Taksal spokesman Mohkam Singh said instead of issuing appeals to defer the march, Jathedar Nandgarh should in fact lead it. The SGPC and the Takht Damdama Sahib Jathedar seem to have taken it upon themselves to scuttle the protest march. SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar has appealed that the movement against the Dera be toned down after the new apology and also suggested that the march be postponed. Meanwhile, SAD (Amritsar) leaders and activists are reported to have gone underground to evade possible arrest ahead of the June 24 march. The Haryana Front: The Haryana government has stepped in to check the frequent conflicts occurring between the two sides over the "nam charcha" service in villages. While on one hand columns of the state police, Rapid Action Force (RAF) and the Border Security Force (BSF) on June 22 staged a flag march in various villages to restore confidence among people and provide a deterrence to violent ele ments, on the other a 32-member peace committee constituted by the Sirsa administration, which met on June 23, was mandated to visit all trouble-hit villages and other potential hotspots over the next three days to impress upon the Premis (Dera followers) and Sikhs to maintain communal harmony. A district official said: "We will also try and constitute village-level peace committees to further the process. The idea is to involve more and more people and persuade them to maintain claim. They can approach the district administration in the event of a problem," said. The peace committee comprising people from various sections of society and four district officials will start travelling in small groups from tomorrow morning to spread the message of peace and harmony. The state government, which has been under strain to maintain law and order in the district ever since Sikhs went up in arms over the blasphemous acts of Dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim, has made it a priority to restore public order. The concern is not without reason as officials fear the incidents of violence in Haryana could shift the focus of the controversy to that state. Much of the tension over "nam charcha" has remained concentrated on the Haryana side than in Punjab. In Sirsa, too, most clashes have taken place in villages close to Punjab. "Villages in the Jogewala-Odhan-Lakkranwali-Pucca belt, which are closer to Punjab, have been the hotspots. And those are the areas the peace committees are going to focus on," sources say. For the readers of the WSN, this is what the sealed envelope awaiting the return of Akal Takht jathedar contains: The Dera Sacha Sauda organisation believes in all religions (Sarv-dharma) and respects them. To help build character, to help people shun non-vegetarian food and narcotics, to help remove differences of religion, caste etc and to inculcate self-less love are the objectives of this organisation. Sant Ji says that leave aside imitation of Sarbansdani Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj or equating with him, he cannot even think of such a thing. The developments of the last few days are a subject of concern and the misunderstandings emerging from that are extremely regrettable. In the interests of the humanity, we seek forgiveness from True Rehbar of Roohaniyat, Satguru Sarbansdani Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the Guru Panth. May the peace and mutual harmony prevail in Punjab, Haryana and desh-videsh, such is our wish! QUESTIONS LEFT UNANSWERED: 1. Will the Dera chief stop his Jaam-e-Insa programs? The apology provides no answer, and a program is scheduled this week at Sirsa again. 2. Why was the meeting with the representatives of Dera held in a hush-hush manner? 3. Paramjit Singh Sarna was a member of the Khalsa Action Committee. Why did he not take the KAC into confidence while maintaining direct links with the Dera? Why did he not take permission of any of the clerics for this? 4. Why was the house of the Police SSP chosen as a meeting place? 5. Why did the Dera representatives not face the media and sneaked out in the night from the SSP's residence? 6. What prompted sudden somersault by Jathedar Balwant Singh Ji Nandgarh? 7. If the issue is of such prominence, why was it not possible for someone to open the envelope, and read out the contents to Jathedar Vedanti who could then have confabulated with other clerics or any leaders? In this age of 'new-age' communications, what impression does it convey of the highest leadership of the community? Weren't other clerics capable of opening the envelope and read and discuss what the apology contained? 8. Do we not have a situation where Sarna and the dera men, and a police SSP, knows what the Akal Takht jathedar and the Sikh quom, and best panthic leaders do not know? 9. Does anyone believe that Parkash Singh Badal does not know the contents of the sealed envelope? 10. Why is the Akali Dal silent on the open support of Congress to the Dera head on the floor of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in the ongoing session? --------
  5. . SSF appeal to Sikhs to take part in June 24 march GURPREET SINGH MEHAK Friday, 22 June 2007 FATEHGARH SAHIB; The Sikh Students Federation(SSF) has made an appeal to the Sikh Sangat to participate in 24 June Khalsa March in large number. SSF President Parmjit Singh Gazi and General Secretary Hardev Singh Karnal said on Friday that the march shall be from historic place of Dian Sahib (Moga) to Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib through its' decided route. They said that this march is to spread awareness among Sikh Masses and is a step towards implementation of edicts of Sri Akaal Takht. Commenting on fresh apology letter sent by dera, Gazi said that Sri Akaal Takht Sahib Jathedar should continue with the traditions and should call a meeting of all Pathic Organizations and Sikh Sangat at Sri Akal Takhat. He said that any decision should be made only after such meeting. He said that SSF is of the opinion that any apology should not be accepted only if it is submitted after accepting the guilt and carries an assurance that it shall not be repeated. . 6. Yes and another headline might be "Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu arrested under sedition charges " ( without any evidence ). Then they say law is equal for all in India . Sarna,Rode and some Sants : all of these the members of Khalsa Action Committee have shown their true colors . . . . . I was expecting this to happen. After the meeting in Talwandi Sabo, the whole panth was united. When rest of India saw the unity of Sikhs as was evident for the one day Panjab bandh ( shut down of Panjab), that time every officer who was someone in these secret agencies of Government of India was crapping in their pants. So the back stabbing , cloak and daggering started. First, the Jathedars (who act as the family servants of Badals, anyway) dissociated themselves. Then the Sants and Babas of Sant Samaj deserted - after the putting up the drama show of courting arrests.. Only a day after that, Mr Sarna, and Rode ( of the Akali 1920 - the Akali branch of the Congress Party) also seemed to have deserted. I am surprised though that no one from the Sant and Babas was arrested. In situations like the present, they always arrest some from the so called Sants and Babas for 'safe keeping' and put them in political jails with all the facilities provided. ( go back to the history from 1947 on) . When the Government agencies need them , they are brought out and shown as the ones who has suffered a lot for the Sikh cause because they were jailed. For the show they are given meaning less importance till the next crises. Every subsequent young generation falls for it. I hope that the young people don't fall for this trick again this time. Now who is going to fall victim of the coming repression? It will be the remaining members of the Khalsa Action Committee and the other youth who sincerely believe that they can bring some change. . I pray to God that we don't end up loosing another generation of youth as we have been doing for a few generations now. (Fellows read your history. If you want Sikhism to survive, stand up and unite- abandon your misplaced loyalties to Sant Babas, most of whom are there for accumulating wealth for themselves and showing off only. Don't give these old scheming ,so called, leaders more importance than they deserve ) .
  7. It does not cease to amaze what angles these corrupt officials can come up with. Till now it was quite common to see false criminal cases filed against the opponents of politicians in power. Now they are setting precedence that when the person is not a political opponent and that even when there is compelling evidence and an arrest warrant issued in a criminal case, police still may have to get the permission from the politicians to determine whether to arrest the person or not. Now that is the real democracy. I hope, if there still is any rights group that may have happened to have survived in Punjab, that they challenge the principle of this in higher courts.
  8. I think Police was looking for an excuse to arrest Zaffarwal. Perhaps you know, Badal is always trying to find an excuse to put Mann is Jail. When Mann and others decided to make a short march to the statue to "decorate " it, Zaffarwal also joined in. So, he was arrested along with some others. The same charges of ‘treason and sedition’ were filed against all of them for paying "homage to"and "decorating" the statue. .
  9. Now, isn't that something !!! (LOL) The full text of the news is- Ask me first, Vedanti appeals to Sikhs Amritsar, June 19 Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti today appealed to the Sikh masses and various Panthic organisations to take his consent before launching any programme to protest against the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Raheem Singh. Jathedar Vedanti said in his appeal that blasphemous acts of the Dera chief had hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community all over the world. He said there was a need to maintain unity in the Panth and to be cautious against the conspirators, who were trying to create fissures in the unity of the Panth. - TNS . ******** Quote from Vidanti I am not sure which Panth he himself belongs to. Is it RSS, BJP , Badalites or some dera panth??
  10. . After the incident they were arrested and charged for treason and sedition ( for putting up a picture on the statue !!!! ) { http://www.akalidalamritsar.com/punjab/Jun...qhs20070619.htm } ---------- This note was submitted to the Sessions Judge, Jullundhar, trying the 21 Sikh nationalists for treason and sedition. Sessions Court, Jullundar, 14th, June 2007. To, The Hon’ble Session Judge, Julundhar, Subject:- Torture and lack of medicines while in Judicial Custody in Central Jail, Ludhiana. Your Honour, Fateh, We 20 prisoners, one being admitted in Rajindra Hospital, Patiala who is not a signatory to this petition before your Honour wish to state that as per international standards on the description of torture it is now recognized that keeping prisoners detained in extreme of temperatures, whether very cold or very hot is a form of torture. We prisoners were put to extreme torture in Ludhiana Jail when the temperatures reached 47ºC and above. On 31st May 2007 in the afternoon the electricity was shut off for one complete hour. On 1st, June 2007 for one and a half hour the electricity was shut after we were locked in our barracks /cell. Without the fans we faced extreme pain and torture. One 8th, June 2007, the electricity in the Jail was shut off from 3PM to 6PM. It was stifling hot and temperatures had soared to 47º C. On 10th, June 2007, after we were locked into our wards/cells, the electricity was put off from 8.10PM to 10.15PM. This was the worst night for us prisoners, it being very, very hot. 17 prisoners that night in our jail were brought to the Jail Hospital, as with the extreme heat they were on the verge of death. On 12th, June 07 the electricity in the Jail was shut down from 9AM to 1PM. We have learnt that the Jail has an uninterrupted supply of 24 hours of power but the break downs began after we prisoners of Shiromani Akali Dal(Amritsar) were packed to jail on flimsy charges that did not stand under sections 107/151 Crpc. Or later under 124A IPC and 153 A IPC. The BJP –Badal government is pursuing vendetta politics against all parties and persons who do not ascribe to ultra-right wing Hindutva agenda of the BJP and Badalites. We have also lacked medical facilities as S. Hazoor Singh Paili has not received proper dental treatment. S. Simranjit Singh Mann has been prescribed a certain medicine-XALTAN by Pfizer company by the Head of Eye Department of the PGI for his eyes, as he has lost 40% of his eyesight in his left eye due to torture by the Indian state since 1984, after which he has been put consistently either in police or judicial custody, from Jails in Rajasthan, Behar, Delhi, UP and the Panjab. Despite his many requests the jailors did not supply him with the medicine XALTAN. We pray Your Honour will order the right legal action on the perpetrators of injustice and torture meted out to us on this petition and the last one addressed to Your Honour on 1.6.2007 through Hon’ble Judge Jain. Thanking you, Yours faithfully, Signed by the twenty Sikh prisoners: Satnam Singh Sandhu Balwant Singh Gopal Wassan Singh Jagir Singh Gurjatinderpal Singh Kashmir Singh Hazoora Sinh S. Major Singh Narinjan Singh Surjit singh Balwinder Singh Sukhjinder Singh Buta Singh Balbir singh Duleta Balbir Singh Kotla Khurd Dharmjit Singh Simranjit Singh Mann Bibi Gurdip Kaur Chatha, S. Rajinder Singh Fauji, Ch. Harbans Singh, S. Shingara Singh is in hospital in Patiala and not with us today.
  11. In the videos you can see how every Member of Parliament (of all the parties) would start to shout when he would get up to speak. They did not want to hear the truth about Punjab. In India, unfortunately and thanks to media ignoring him, people still think that he said nothing to raise the issues pertaining to Punjab.
  12. . Sant Samaj to Give Arrests . What will that achieve?? It is quite clear that the Sant Samaj and all these Babas have been won over by Badalkiyas. What started as a united group with great expectations after the meeting at Talwandi Sabo is divided now. This is the classic outcome of Sikh politics when the governments and its agencies bring in their people to manipulate the leaders and divide the quom. Let us look at what has happened recently. Jathedars have caved in to the pressure from Badal. They have changed their stand- now altogether stand separated from the united group. The next move on the part of Badal was to separate the some more groups from the other Panthic groups. There come the Babas and the Sant Samaj. Sukhbir Badal secretly had meetings (which did not remain secret for too long)) with some of the Sant Samaj people (He also met with Baba Dhumma at Fatehgarh just before a march was to be taken out from Fatehgarh to Chandigarh and that plan was changed at the last minute) . The Sant samaj did not even wait for two more days for the common meeting of all the groups that was going to be held. They instead held the meeting themselves two days before and decided that they were no longer be working with the other groups but the Babas would court arrests themselves. So by doing this they too have separated themselves from the other Panthic groups. Now they want to look as if they are the only group in the forefront of this ‘mohim’. ( From here on, unknown to them, and unwittingly, they will do what Badal has planned for the things to happen) A brilliant move made by Badal. He has divided the unity of the Sikhs again. Sant Babas are now in his camp and will play in his hands. . He has separated them from other Panthic minded people. The Panthic minded people separated from Jathedars and the Samaj will be made to take the brunt that the GOI is going to unleash. It is that group which is going to end up suffering and making sacrifices. Now let us see what is going to happen. As is expected there will be lot of struggle and confrontation between the government and the Sikh. Before that would happen, Badal will ask police to arrest handful of the babas whom he wants to protect and whom he can easily manipulate. These Babas will be sitting comfortably in jails while other Sikhs will be hounded and put into other type of jails where they will be tortured; they will be labeled as terrorists, false cases will be registerd against their leaders and they will sit in jails for long time. All this while the selected Sant Babas will sit protected in the custody. After the government had its fill of torturing the Sikhs and eliminating their leaders, and the Panth dardi Sikh are no longer threat to Badal’s kursi these Babas will be released . The sant babas will come out of the safe keeping shouting slogans, claiming that they are the real leaders- after all they sat in the jails all this time when other Sikhs were being tortured and eliminated. Badalkiyas have again played their hand brilliantly. And Babas don't even know what has happened.
  13. Videos of speeches of S. Simranjit Singh Mann in the Indian Parliament. It looks that he was the only person who kept bring up the and talked about the Sikh issues. I don’t think that any other Sikh member of the Parliament (including the members of Badal’s group) do that from the Sikh point of view. 15. Very good work. Keep it up. However, one comment; if I may make. In the portrait of Guru Nanak Dev ji you have painted the symbol of Khanda. The symbol of Ek On'kaar would have been much more appropriate. (the symbol of Khanda as is painted, comes from the times of Guru Gobind Singh ji and later)
  16. Thanks. The full version of the video does explain some of their behaviour about which I always wondered. That video is indeed worth seeing. Thanks again
  17. What was this video about? It was 5 minutes of - Bush saying that Islam is peaceful Blair saying that Islam is peaceful Clinton saying Islam is peaceful Did not we know that already? .
  18. By a Singh from Leeds How Muslims Perceive Us I had decided a while ago that I should write this e-mail, but other things always came first. Today i read something very shocking on an e-group, about bibian going out with muslim boys. What was most shocking was that people on the group just seemed to accept this. But can I ask why do we accept this? In the last few years, I have become quite involved with some of these situations, not intentionally, but by accident. As some of you may know I now live in Leeds, which is right next to Bradford (Mini-Pakistan). Over the last year, when I went to some of the local Gurdwaras ( there are many), I would occasionally get distraught parents come up to me telling me to talk to their children. The reason they asked me, because I can speak english, british-born sikh, who attempts to practice. It started off with one girl who said she madly wants to marry a muslim boy, her parents will not agree, so they brought her to talk to me. Naturally I was a bit shocked, but I spoke to her at the gurdwara. She told me how much they loved each other, she was going to convert and they were going to marry. I asked her if he really did love her. She said yes. I said, "You are going to convert for him, out of love. I do not ask him to take Amrit, but will he, out of love for you, just come to the gurdwara, and just bow in front of Sahib Siri Guru Granth sahib ji. Surely if you can convert for him, he can do this much for you?" To cut the story short, he would not. She stuck by him, two weeks later ran off with him. They were not seen for six weeks, until she came home, after he had dumped her for another girl. Two other cases came to me, different in structure, but similar storyline. Eventually, I thought enough is enough. I went on the gurdwara stage and spoke about muslims, panjabi girls, fundamental muslim groups, etc. Guru Maharaj de kirpa, the sangat responded, an ever-expanding youth group has been set-up, we did the shabad-Guru samagam, which included a youth camp,in which this subject was particularly discussed. Now the youth are getting ready to create mass education on Sikhi in this area, as this was seen as a starting point. I KNOW THIS IS A LONG E-MAIL, BUT IMPORTANT. PLEASE READ ON. Since the smamgam, because of the camp I have had another 4 cases. I know maharaj will help all those who need it. But I have noticed a pattern which i what I want to share. Every situation is different, different ages, environment, etc. But one fundamental pattern. There are two types of muslim boys; FUNDAMENTAL MUSLIM - these usually belong to particular groups. They do not care for the individuals, they look at who she is. They target sikh, hindu, christain and jewish girls. Romancing, flattery, games, etc, to get these in girls in their circle, leading towards conversion. Shocking as it may seem these boys truely believe if they convert a non-muslim into Islam, then they will be Mukt. (Liberated) NON-RELIGIOUS MUSLIMS - they care little about religion, for them it is a social thing. If they go out with pakistani girls and get them pregnent, their community forces them to get married. They do not want to get married, but just go with girls. So they INTENTIONALLY pick sikh/hindu/white girls, because they can do what they want, there is no comeback. If the girls get pregnent, their community does not care, these are just cheap girls for their boys to use as they grow up. They are not pakistani muslim girls, who are pure. hence the pakistani community a major superiority complex over the others. PUNJABI GIRLS - Notice i call them punjabi, because they have little knowledge on Sikhi, and no practice. The pattern I have found in the girls is what i call the "Bollywood Concept". These girls wholeheartedly believe love will conquer all. As in films, there is a social divide, their parents are against it, their community is against, but no matter love will always win. However these poor girls get a reality check, when the boy`s sisters, mother and other family do not want this "cheap" girl" in their family. Or the boy has had his fun and wants to move on to the next girl, or get maried to a respectable girl. Love suddenly disappears, and she is left humilliated in front of her friends, family and community FOR LIFE, because people do not forget. I am not racist. I know punjabi boys are just as bad. But we as a community have got to look at how muslims percieve us. They do target punjabi girls, because they are considered easy. Many years ago, A hindu brahmin journalist wrote in a national newspaper, "The Daily Telegraph" that sikh girls are the most uninhibited, ie.(cheap), in the asian community. Fundamental muslim do target sikh girls, they are desparate for a dastaar wale girl just to humiliate sikhs. How are we as a community reacting. Why do we accept this? Why are our girls so niave that they think everything is so innocent. Why do they play games? the muslim community here, has a major problem of pakistani girls running away with non-muslims, due to seeing the hypocrisy and attitudes of muslims boys. However the are trying to tackle the situation, hence have a £5million pound grant for a school for muslim girls. We as sikhs look at Sarbat da bhalla (consideration for all mankind). But we also have realise not everyone else is like that. We as a community cannot tolerate our community to be precieved in this way. We are not cheap or asain trash. The sikh community should be the most moral, upstanding, hardworking, civilised and sophisticated society as created by our Guru`s. THAT IS OUR STANDARD. A benti to everyone, have some self-respect! Especially to all the Bibian, do not let girls who are your friends behave like this. Say something. Educate them. It is not innocently going to the cinema with some boys, who happen to be muslims. The deeper they go the more they get burned. I know alot of people may not like this e-mail, or will disagree with it. Some people may say there is not a problem. If you go to any college, uni, etc, you will see there is a problem. DO YOUR COMMUNITY A FAVOUR, DO NOT ACCEPT IT!!!!! . Source: http://www.whyichosesikhism.com/?p=know&s=perceive .
  19. MLA --- Member Legislative Assembly MLC ----- Member Legislative Council What I understand that one time there used to be two houses of the state assemblies : upper house and lower house. The lower house members (MLAs) used to be elected by the direct voting.. However, members of the upper house (MLCs ) were elected by the professionals, municipal councils etc. I did not find any information about how many from which profession were elected.. There were some seats for lawyers, some for teachers and university lecturers and professors, some from the municipal councils , others economists accountants etc. They would generally be elected or recommended by the general membership of their profession. A piece of legislation would become law only when passed by both the houses . The MLAs did not like that set up . So the Legislative Councils (upper houses at the state level) were abolished. However the upper house (Raj Sabha) of the Central Parliament was retained with the modified version. Now a days it is being used to appoint the defeated candidates and party loyals etc. The Prime Minister ManMohan Singh is member of the Raj Sabha (upper house) not a member of the Lok Sabha (Lower house). To be elected to the Lok Sabha one has to be elected directly by the popular vote. ( That is about all that I know about the MLCs)
  20. [ Faked Deaths Show Ills of India's Police . The story in the above post is from the Associated Press( AP). So it was carried by websites of several other news papers. Hope that AP covers more stories about the treatment of Sikh in India. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/I/INDIA_STAGED_SHOOTOUTS?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT SUMMARY of the story Story Headline: Faked Deaths Show Ills of India's Police Reported by: MATTHEW ROSENBERG Gurnam Singh Bandala speaks to the Associated Press at Fatehgarh Churien village, in the northern Indian state of Punjab, Saturday, May 12, 2007. As far as nearly everyone knew, Gurnam Singh Bandala was gunned down in a shootout with police 13 years ago during the waning days of an uprising by Sikh separatists. That is, until Bandala turned up alive, living as a preacher. Authorities now believe an innocent farmer was deliberately killed by police so that they could present his body as Bandala's and collect a $60,000 bounty. Bandala's re-emergence is one of nearly a dozen similar cases reviewed by the AP that have surfaced recently in India. . . Some of the other websites that posted the same story. 21. . Many of these newly converted women leave the country either to meet the family of their newly acquired friends/ boyfriends/fake husbands. Those who do not want to go are sometimes told that their parents (parents of newly converted women) are very angry and their lives as well as the lives of their friends ( new friends) are in danger. So they should flee the country temporarily. After a few months they return without the girl. She is left behind and forced into flesh trade or sold to some rich man from the Gulf countries. The educated British Sikh girls seem to fetch the highest price. This is what Dr. Sangat Singh writes about this in the latest edition of his book "Sikhs in History" 5th Edition. Chapter 14 - Future of Sikhs : page 602 " ---------- helped to bolster a number of organized Pakistani groups in the United Kingdom - North West, Midland, London and all over Europe to entice the impressionable, teenage Sikh girls into façade of a marriage; and these girls have by and large ended up in prostitution houses in Pakistan, or have been sold to elderly Arab Shaikhs in the Gulf countries. This has not been the work of individuals, but of organized gangs, who have at their disposal limitless funds. Pakistani youth is used as front person for the Sikh girls, and the girls from other parts of India ---- " . .

  23. Over the period of last few days I have read about this in some Punjabi vernacular media newspapers. From what I can make out is that they are not very sure what may have happened. Bhai Jagtar Singh is a freelance granthi who is called to different gurdawaras to do paath when they need extra granthi or to fill in for a granthi who may be away. On the day the Sarbh Khalsa was held at Talwandi Sabo, he told his family that he was going to go to Sirsa to see what was happening there in the gurdawara. However, it appears that he somehow ended up being manhandled inside the dera of Sauda. They handed him over to the local police. From there he was admitted to the local hospital. The police did not allow any body from his family or members of the village panchyat to see him in the hospital. They say that he is not allowd to talk (or can’t talk). So there is the reason to suspected that he has received some serious injuries. He may even be in coma if he received some head injuries. If he is injured so seriously, question is when did he receive these injuries – in the dera or when he was in police custody. It is rumoured that his hair were also cut. If that is also true , that would raise some more questions. Were his hair removed to treat his head injuries, or his hair were removed by someone else for some other reason. From the recorded conversation in the video of Bhai Daljeet Singh’s visit, it is clear that he has received serious injuries; how and when that happened is not known.
