You're right I shouldn't be too judgmental. Maybe sometimes I overgeneralize because when I see the people that I know for sure cause beadbi, I assume their acquaintances are like that too. I should focus on positive things and not the negatives.

I was going to post somewhat the same thing on here lol. How can you be attached to sangat and attend Gurdwara Sahib when most of the people that attend cause corruption in the Gurdwara Sahib?How do you concentrate when everyone around you is trying to discuss other things? I often see myself losing my temper when I see people that disrespect the Guru Ghar and Guru Sahib and I am not sure how to deal with it.

How can KPS Gill openly threaten the movie makers? Can't they file a case against him for publicly threatening them?

CHANDIGARH, Punjab (April 8, 2013)–At a press conference organized at Punjab University, the former “Super Cop” of Punjab responsible for the killings of thousands of innocent Sikhs asked for strict measures to be implemented so that movies such as “Sadda Haq” are not able to “disrupt peace” in Punjab. KP Gill also slammed the SGPC for the 1984 memorial Gurdwara at the Harmandir Sahib. The movie Sadda Haq highlights police brutalities that continued for two decades in Punjab. As part of its process to curb the Sikh Freedom Movement for human rights, the Punjab Police often adopted brutal methods of dealing with freedom fighters and their families. Thousands of Sikh youth were tortured in police custody and killed in fake encounters. KP Gill was at the Punjab University for a conference in which he spoke about so-called “terrorism” in Punjab. Gill stated that the ban on the movie was required as it glorified and promoted “terrorism.” He also openly demanded action against the movie producer and crew. He called for the immediate arrest of the producers, Paramjit Singh Kalkat and Jarnail Singh. Gill also shared strong remarks for the SGPC, stating that it must be eliminated as it does not represent the entire Sikh community. He alleged that the memorial would only serve the purpose of glorifying so-called “terrorism.” In regards to the role of the Punjab police after 1984 and through the early 1990s, Gill stated that he did not have any regrets for the actions taken by the Punjab Police at his behest–including endless torture, disappearances, rapes, murders and mass graves. SGPC Backtracks on the Movie; Aligns with Fascist Punjab Government SGPC President Avtar Makkar has taken a u-turn on support for the movie “Sadda Haq.” The move comes a day after the Akal Takhat Sahib was requested to help lift the ban on the movie. Makkar claimed that the SGPC had made a mistake by supporting the movie earlier. He alleged that the ban on the movie is rightful and Punjab, Haryana and Jammu Governments did nothing wrong by banning the showings. Makkar further stated that in the future the SGPC will be more careful towards similar movies. He alleged that the peace in Punjab was hard earned and it must be kept at all costs. Large Scale Support Continues for the Movie Abroad and at Home Although officially the movie remains banned in Punjab, Haryana and other parts of India, it has continued to attract support from those living abroad and at home. People in Punjab and Jammu have come out in the streets in support of the movie. In the United States and Canada, the movie showings all across the continent have been fully sold out. Sad state of our panth today. People who are supposed to be representative of our Sikh panth (SGPC, Akal takht jathedar) won't take a stand for our rights and our freedom of speech. Kind of losing hope in our system.

Easy for him to say. If his family member was harmed in the aftermath of 1984, then his point of view would be different. They aren't old issues because justice hasn't been served. Then lets release Bhai Rajoana from jail and say that they are old issues lets not bring it up any more. No Indian says that, "We shouldn't bring up the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar azad, Surya Sen because they are old issues lets not discuss what the British did to our nation." But when another minority tries to ask for justice, they claim we shouldn't bring up old issues. Hypocrisy.

Its not playing in my state otherwise I would take my whole family to go see it. But I will be interested in buying multiple copies of the dvd and distributing them at the Gurdwara if anyone has any info on that. I know the film just released so its probably not on DVD yet.

This is so true. This may be a little off topic but I have an example of how our own people ruin our image in public. In a Gurdwara they held a candle light vigil in memory of Wisconsin tragedy. The committee invited many officials and other prominent American figures from the state. A few weeks later a fight broke out inside the Gurdwara. Turbans were flying and therefore the cops were called. The cops looked at the Gurdwara with shame. They said that a few weeks ago you guys showed us how peaceful and caring your community is and a few weeks later you're fighting inside your Gurdwara. Our own people mock us so no one takes us seriously. We want the government to take us seriously but think about how many problems we've had in our own management?

This stuff makes me so mad! It none of their business. Always trying to butt into our issues of the Sikh panth. They don't say crap when other people glorify mass murderers and rapist. When will India realize that they have no right to interfere in our religious issues. In fact they make movies about underworld dons glorifying their lifestyle. They make movies about people like the Thakure family glorifying them. They are considering Modi for PM position!! But when someone states the truth, they say that "Oh they are glorifying militants."

So Hindus always bring up the fact that they were removed from Buses and killed. Although we all know that they weren't Sikhs that did that they were black cats to defame Sikhs in the media, how many such incidents actually occurred? Like how many buses were stopped and how many Hindus were killed? Does anyone even know?

Guys come on let it go Jazzy B. did this, applaud his effort and lets support the movie. When non Sikhs come out for support of justice we don't say "Oh you're not a Sikh you aren't allowed to stand up for our rights." Or when non Sikhs speak well about Sikhi we don't say "Hey you aren't a Sikh you have no right to say something about our religion." When a hindu writes a book about Sant Ji and defending Sikh movement we don't say "Hey you aren't allowed to do that." When someone who may not be a Gursikh but was raised by Sikhs comes out and tries to support justice for 84, mentions Bhai Rajoana in his song, mentions Singhs like Hari Singh Nalwa, all of a sudden we are panthic police lol. In fact by doing this he might even lose his fan following but he's still trying to do the right thing.

There is a sakhi I heard of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. There were two neighbors and after working one of them would always go to the Gurdwara Sahib to meet Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the other one would go to wrong places. One day, the one that was going to the Gurdwara got a thorn stuck in his feet. The other one ended up finding golden coins. So the man went to Guru Ji and said that he always comes to hazoori and does path but he got a thorn stuck in his feet whereas his neighbor doesn't go to Guru Ji and he found golden coins, why so? Guru Ji said that according to the man's karm, he was supposed to have a worse health problem but because he does path and goes to gurdwara he only got a thorn stuck in his feet. The neighbor was supposed to be very very rich but because he doesn't do path or go to Gurdwara he ended up with only a few golden coins. I'm sorry if I made any mistakes I'm just restating the sakhi off of memory.

I can't wait to watch the movie but its not playing in my state maybe I can order a dvd when it comes out.

I was reading the facebook comments and I read this comment: Women and kids get raped Where the Punjab cop comes from and nothing gets done about it so wut u think is gonna happen here,cops are just p****** wit a bit of backup from the government but once u put a barrel to a defenseless cop u should see how quick his fetal position is quick to appear.

This is probably why we don't get support. Because we shun out anyone who promotes justice or preservation in all his "impurities."

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, I am writing a college research paper on the impact of 9/11 on Sikh Identity and the mistaken identity of Sikhs in North America post 9/11. I was hoping Saad Sangat could help with me with some sources, scholarly articles, direct surveys/interviews, or even with organization of this paper. I have found a few good articles and research papers online and at my University but there are probably more out there that I may not know of. So feel free to give any suggestions or any sources I can refer to Dhanvaad :D
