I'd definatley learn a lot more if they had SikhiToTheMax projection set up and i reckon a lot more youth would go attend Gurdwara... And secondly, some katha would be excellent. That is a rarity at our Gurdwara... My punjabi isnt the best but i do understand most of katha when it is done and it is easier to understand Gurbani when explained like how they do. So normally end up going and listening to kirtan which often dont understand, listen to hukamnama, which dont really understand. I understand bits and i still go to see Guru Ji. I know learning better punjabi is up to me but Gurdwara's should do there bit too.

Have you got a mobile phone? If so, which one have you got? You may be able to use that. I just use my Nokia 6680, got some MP3 recording software on it and it works perfect.

Sorry about some of the replies here... Ended up waaay off topic with people trying to justify eating of meat again. Please see my earlier post as to why I try to follow the Damdami Taksal Rehat Maryada. Just do those things which are pleasing to Him and try to read as much Gurbani and do as much Sadh Sangat as possible. But start somewhere, Try and get up early and do Nitnem 5 baniya, Rehraas in the evening and Kirtan Sohila at night. The answers will start coming from within... You'll know yourself whether something is wrong to do as you'll have doubt in your mind before you do it. Listen to that and you'll be fine.

This is just my view but i try to follow the rehat maryada set out by Guru Gobind Singh Ji and carried through the Damdami Taksal... The Damdami Taksal is a Sikh university, which was founded by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji to impart knowledge of Gurmat onto Sikhs and it has had an unbroken lineage of Jathedars who have led the Taksal throughout Sikh history. The purpose of the Taksal is to educate Sikhs, to teach them the correct pronounciations of Gurbani, to do Katha and Kirtan. This is done by getting students to undergo rigorous studies, meditations and seva. I'm sure you must have heard of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji... He was the first Jathedar of the Taksal. I think the rehat at such a chardi kala place where so much bani and seva is done and is led by a Jathedar who imparts the gian he gained from the prevoius Jathedar to the next Jathedar is most likely to follow the rehat maryada of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji's times. Think about it, for example, if i wanted to know what your great grandfathers rehat was like, it'd make more sense asking you and not the local gurdwara that he used to go to (committe's probably changed about 10 times since then). Especially if you great grandfather taught it to your father who taught it to you. See what i mean? Gurbani is refering to our 5 enemies... Kaam (lust/desire), Krodh (anger), Lobh (greed), Moh (attachment), and Hankaar (Ego). And yes, we do pray for the welfare of whole humanity... everyone included.

I went to my first BOSS camp last year and I thought it was amazing. Didn't want it to end... So, very highly recommend that one. I havent been to other ones so can't say anything about them.

True... I know a Penji who took amrit while we were out with a group in India. She knew her Dad wouldnt approve when she got back but she took it anyway. He soon came round... It might be a good idea for her to go and ask the Panj Pyares on the day if she is still unsure.

I honestly can not see how love marriages can work if you wish to progress with Sikhi. The important things is life should be Nam Japna, Vand Chakna, Kirat Karnee. Why worry about things like marriage? Do you not think Maharaj will sort it out for you...? The same Akal Purakh Vaheguru who has given you life, given you a family, given you a house and food to eat. He's looked after you your whole life, why would it be any different for marriage... have some faith! We should be concentrating on remembering Vaheguru all the time. How can that happen when everytime you go Gurdwara/ college/ uni/ work you are (deliberately or not) looking out for a future partner? Let it happen the way it should be, arranged...
