  1. Sat Sri Akal: So funny...it seems that the Government of India WANTS Khalsitan to be made. Keep this up and Sikhs will have an independent nation in no time!!! Idiots...
  2. Sat Sri Akal: There are only two times I can think of where a Sikh has no covering on their head: 1)When taking a shower and then drying their hair. 2)When coming their hair. That be it. Otherwise, the minimum is a keski.
  3. Sat Sri Akal: Call it a wierd feeling... From all of the attacks on the Sikhs, in India and abroad, it seems that the Sikhs must reconnect with their Miri/Spihai roots again...otherwise, Sikhs will be the next Jews...harassed, killed, tortured at mere whim...
  4. Sat Sri Akal: I gotta say, nothin beats live... It is said that the Sixth Master (or so I think) instituted the Dhadi Jathas to sing Vaars before combat to charge his troops. Dhadhi Jathas are a VERY DANGEROUS institution. They can awaken the mind of a slothful nation and lead them to honor. Perhaps now is the time to make this art a mainstay at Gurudwaras?!?!?!
  5. Sat Sri Akal: Nirankaris were at first a Sikh revival movement started by one Sehajdhari named Baba Dayal. Their purpose was to get Sikhism back to its pure ways, away from a lot of ritualistic corruption that had arisen. This label is not applied to any Sikhs anymore...cause they are Sikhs...and the Nakli Nirankaris stained that title... Later on, one branch of this movement, names the Sant Nirankaris, was bought by the Government to spread hatred against the Sikhs. They are the Nakli Nirankaris aka. Narakdharis.
  6. Sat Sri Akal: Now that shows the strangeness of people...what is that cap doing that the dastaar can't?
  7. Sat Sri Akal: There better be justice for all of these victims...cause if this continues, the Sikhs will not take this kindly...
  8. Sat Sri Akal: Keep em coming!
  9. Sat Sri Akal: And then people ask what is wrong with the Panth??? Even the tenth Master was subject to the decision of the Panj Pyare. Who is this "Romana" to disobey the Panj Pyare? If the Panj Pyare say jump, you ask how high!!!
  10. Sat Sri Akal: O Khuli Rakho Veero... Sher Bano, Billi Nahi!!! :D
  11. Sat Sri Akal: Beautiful! A tough thing to do...to find the Lord inside the self...
  12. Sat Sri Akal: Wow!!!! Now that's poetry! More, More!!!
  13. Sat Sri Akal: Got a better question: WHY???
  14. Sat Sri Akal: lip service n. - Verbal expression of agreement or allegiance, unsupported by real conviction or action; hypocritical respect: “Lip service continues to be paid to resolving regional conflicts, but there is no sense of urgency” (Henry A. Kissinger). www.dictionary.com Basically, all talk and no action.
  15. Sat Sri Akal: The idea of a separate Sikh homeland was proposed during the Independence talks between the British and the Sikhs. The Sikhs refused the British advice to take Punjab as a separate homeland.
  16. Sat Sri Akal: The above texts are not accepted by everyone as authentic texts. They seem to be at opposite with Sikhism's "Sarbat Da Bhala" concept. Nut nothing can be said for sure. Other things at the site are also a little strange. Unfortunately, Sikhism's scholar structure is not at all organized or uniform to present clear views on many things. Hopefully, Sikhism will have a solution to this problem soon!!!
  17. Sat Sri Akal: Gurbani is knowledge. True. Paper is simply its physical form. True. Now here's the kicker. We bow to Guru Granth Sahib, we make a Darbar Hall fit for a King for it, and through it we hope to gain salvation. But if the same knowledge is embodied on newspaper, thrown to a curb, and used as bird toilet paper, we should be okay with it? How would any of us here feel if someone tore out a page of the Guru Granth Sahib and used it to line bird cages? I understand your opinion SikhforLife, but the key word here is respect. Newspapers are NOT treated with respect. Wedding cards are NOT treated with respect. Whatever little Gurbani I have read has led me to believe that Gurbani should not be treated like common trash and should be only published if it will be treated with respect ie. in Gurkas and Guru Granth Sahib birs. I remember Sant Jarnail Singh. He would talk openly of fellow Sikhs being tortured and murdered. He did not shed a tear when he recounted these details about our Shaheed Sikhs. But when he talked of the Guru Granth Sahib being burned, it was the only time that Sant Sahib shed tears. He gave it that much respect. Perhaps I am making too much out of this. But it weighs on my heart.
  18. Sat Sri Akal: Wonderful poem!!!
  19. Sat Sri Akal: I have heard the opinion that Bhai Vir Singh has expressed (a weighty name this Vir Singh is...keep it well!)...to not let others know about how to do Naam Simran. Some people have even stated that Naam Simran in front of Non-Amritdharis is wrong and should be stopped because it diminishes the worth of the word? But one must realize that the Panj Pyare don't just give a word that is some magical mantar to Sikhs. True, the word Waheguru is Gurbani (it is, after all present in the Guru Granth Sahib). But its essence and its deepest meaning is imparted by the Panj Pyare to those who take amrit. Those who have not taken amrit and do Naam Simran will be affected by it, but not in the same way as Amritdharis. The Amrit given to the initiated transforms their inner being so that they may experience the true heights of naam simran. So the true secret of Naam Simran is not something spoken. It is given by the Panj Pyare through the medium of Amrit to the initiates. It's secret cannot be simply spoken. If that were true, would Guru Gobind Singh have told the Khalsa Panth to greet other loudly with "Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh"? Would that not give away this secret? The one book that I have read that explains about this is Bhai Randhir Singh's "The Meaning of Sikh Baptism (by Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh)" at the following URL: http://www.akj.org.uk/literature/article.a....asp?sec=Gurmat. Forgive any mistakes I might have made. I am still learning.
  20. Sat Sri Akal: I make a request to Sangat. Please e-mail your views to the e-mail address above to convey your views (nicely) to the Chief Editor. Thanks for your online support.
  21. Sat Sri Akal: Sat Sri Akal: Recently, a new newspaper titled "Indian Express" was started in the Central New Jersey area. In it's last issue (June 20-26 is the date given on the newspaper), a hukamnama from the Guru Granth Sahib was published. I am very appreciative that the newspaper wishes to spread the Guru's word, but I am even more concerned that the word of the Guru, which is from the Almighty itself, is being published in the newspaper. Everyone knows the treatment that newspapers get...from being thrown to curbs, to being kept on the ground, to even lining bird cages! I do not want that the Guru's word be treated in such deplorable ways. I e-mailed the Editor to find out what their views are and to hopefully get that segment discontinued to maintain the dignity of Gurbani. The Editor's e-mail address is ratainda@yahoo.com and the Chief Editor's name is Satnam Singh (Ratainda).
  22. Sat Sri Akal: The cartoon says it all...the kathakari can serve as a link for the youth to apply Gurbani to real life. Unfotunately, the bast majority of the Kathakaris I have seen and heard just explain Gurbani their own way, without giving the practical link. Although one can figure it out if they are dedicated to the Sikh Path, the ones on the fence can really be aided by more proactive kathakaris.
  23. Sat Sri Akal: Where's Badal and Torha now? Attending anoither havan shall I presume?
  24. Sat Sri Akal: Bibi Sumeet Kaur's answer is correct. A Sikh's body does the physical deeds to pass its time on the Earth, but the mind is ever pointed to the Lord.
