The stereotype is Doaba Sikhs are least religious and Majha Sikhs are most religious.  But this is just a stereotype because Gurdaspur and Amritsar in Majha have the highest Christian percentages in Panjab, 7.68% and 2.18% respectively.

Doaba region is also dominated by Hindus where they outnumber Sikhs in Nawansheher, Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur districts. Sikhs are more dominant in Malwa districts like Moga, Barnala, Mansa, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib and Sri Muktsar Sahib.

District with the highest Sikh percentage from each region (as of last India census)

Majha: Tarn Taran Sahib, 93.33% Sikh

    Malwa: Moga,  82.24% Sikh

    Doaba: Kapurthala, 55.66% Sikh

Becoming Christian as has been posted variously here recently has likely more to do with incentives like healthcare and other support for the family. Majha have traditionally provided most of the shaheeds, even in 1980s and 1990s when Malwa had much higher number of Sikhs.

As you have said, Tarn Taran Sahib  area seems the ultimate stronghold of Sikhs

Doabe-wale love bhangra, which I wonder is a reason why went away from Sikhi more than the other regions

He had a song 'snake charmer' and that is what 'Saperra' means, it seems

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sapera_(caste)

    Origin[edit]

They are a community of snake charmers and one of a number of semi-nomadic communities found in North India which live in camps at the outskirts of most North Indian towns.[4]

In Haryana, the community is known as the Sapera Nath. They are further divided into ten sub-groups, some of which are the Brahmin Sapera, Jhinwar Sapera, Soggar Sapera, BihaL Sapera, Nakphule Sapera, and Sandenath Sapera. These divisions are said to reflect the diverse origin of this community, where people of different caste backgrounds took to the occupation of snake charming, and over time evolved into a distinct community. They now have Scheduled Caste status in Haryana.[5]

In Punjab, the word Sapela is derived from the word sap, which means snake in Punjabi. They are also known as Nath. The community are as much snake catchers as snake charmers, and are employed by villagers as snake charmers. According to their traditions, the community descend from a Kanipa, a Jhinwar, who took to snake charming. They are nomadic, and are possibly of Dom origin. The Punjab Sapela speak Punjabi and found throughout the state.[6]

    Present circumstances[edit]

The Sapera are divided into two endogamous groups, the Saharpua and the Baiga in Uttar Pradesh, especially the Bareilly district. These are further segmented into exogamous clans, and they maintain a strict system of clan exogamy. The principal occupation of the Sapera remains snake charming, and they wander from village to village, performing with deadly snakes like cobras. They are also expert snake catchers, and are often called in by other villagers to catch snakes and remove the poison from persons bitten by snakes. A small number of Sapera have also been involved in the manufacture of a coarse rope called the munj. As with other nomadic groups, the Indian state has exerted pressure for them to settle down. A few have now taken up permanent settlement and are mainly sharecroppers. They remain an extremely marginalised group, suffering from poverty.[7]

The Sapela community in Punjab consists of a number of clans, the main ones being the Marar, Goar, Bhambi, Doom and Ladhu. All these clans are of equal status and intermarry. The Sapela are still largely involved in their traditional occupation of snake charming and snake catching, as well as collecting wild root and tubers, which they use for medicinal purposes. They are nomadic are often employed in the villages to catch snakes. The community are also associated with the playing the gourd pipe, known as a been. Like other Sapera groups, they are extremely marginalised, and have been granted Scheduled Caste status.[8]

Most Sapera are Hindu by faith, although a small number have converted to Islam, and form a distinct community of Muslim Saperas. The Hindu Sapera are followers of the Shakti cult and worship the goddess Kali.[citation needed]

Looks like they are very suspicious of your email!  There is no doubt there is sexual abuse in our community but these types of organisations are solely founded to create jobs for liberals and their friends. The liberals tried to set up organisations to combat Sikh 'extremism' in the mid 2010s but there were not takers in the government so now we have organisations that combat sexual abuse. The only organisation that actually battles sexual abuse in our community is SAS and Bhai Mohan Singh. This SWA wants us to believe that there is no issue of sexual abuse by paedophile grooming gangs. There are loads of funds available from the government if you can create a niche organisation like SWA. It's all a part of the gravy train. If they had any sense they  would have set up a company and tried to get PPE contracts and they could have retired by now!

Would be great to get opinions of more UK Bhenjis on this

They are anti-Hindu when it comes to Muslims getting beaten by Hindu mobs via retaliation but suddenly find their love for India when it comes to Sikhs.

What? Hindus in India who are 'pro-Muslim' ?!

And, I thought Dutt is a Kashmiri name

‘Polar Preet’ embarks on 700-mile trek to the South Pole

Captain Harpreet Chandi, an Army physiotherapist with 3 Medical Regiment is aiming to complete the 700-mile trek for a solo expedition to the South Pole this year.

Army Captain Harpreet Chandi stands at a podium talking to guests

Polar Preet speaking about her training preparations at the launch event

Self-titled ‘Polar Preet’, Captain Chandi is in the final phase of her rigorous training ahead of the 45-day challenge, where she will endure temperatures of up to -50 degrees Celsius and wind speeds of up to 60mph.

The British-born Indian Sikh’s preparation has been underway for two years and included various extensive training exercises such as dragging tyres to simulate pulling a 90kg sled. Earlier this year, Preet headed to Greenland for a 27-day ‘warm up’ expedition encountering gruelling weather conditions. She will head to Antarctica in November and, if she completes the unsupported trek, will pull and carry all her equipment without resupply.

    Defence Minister Leo Docherty said:

People are Defence’s best asset and Preet’s determination and drive to complete this momentous challenge is a true testament to that. The physical and mental resilience shown during her preparations is something we can all learn from. Preet shows that people from all backgrounds can achieve incredible things through a career in the Armed Forces.

We all wish Preet the very best of luck and will be eagerly following her progress.

At a launch event held at The Shard on 21 October, Preet spoke to guests about the physical and mental training she endured ahead of the trek. Equipment she will be carrying with her such as a pulk (a Nordic small sled), cooker, freeze-dried food and specialist clothing were also on display highlighting the extensive preparation she has undergone and the enormity of the challenge ahead.

Brigadier Lizzie Faithfull-Davies CBE, Commander 102 Logistics Brigade said:

It is genuinely inspiring to watch Captain Harpreet Chandi’s polar ambition turn into reality and every aspect of her preparation demonstrates the values and standards that are so important to the British Army.

We are delighted to have such a talented and determined officer in 102 Logistic Brigade who can set such a great example to all our people about how to turn a dream into reality. We will all be avidly watching and supporting her endeavours from afar and, from the whole brigade, we wish Polar Preet the very best for her expedition.

Preet joined the Army in 2008 and has served for 13 years, including supporting the Covid-19 vaccination efforts in recent months. She had never camped or hiked prior to joining, it was participation in Adventurous Training which sparked her passion and drive to complete this incredible feat. Preet has already set her sights higher and plans to also complete a solo and unsupported full crossing of the continent from coast to coast.

    Captain Harpreet Chandi said:

There is so much to prepare for an expedition like this and I’m really proud to be representing the Army. As I started to train for it, I learned more about it and it just shows the more you do, the more you realise you’re capable of.

So, wherever you’re from, whatever experience you’ve got, if you want to go out and do something different, take that first step and go for it.

The army officer and physiotherapist, who adopted the nickname “Polar Preet” for her blog, spent two and a half years preparing for the grueling expedition.

It included crevasse training in the French Alps, trekking Iceland’s Langjökull Glacier and 27 days on the ice cap in Greenland.

Ms Chandi named her sled after her nine-year-old niece, Simran, and her skis after her baby nephew, Karanveer, to inspire them.

She said: “When I decided I wanted to go to Antarctica, I didn’t know I would be the first woman of colour to do a solo expedition on the continent and people have said to me ‘You don’t look like a polar explorer’.”

Congratulating her on the expedition, the Chief of the General Staff of the British Army said she was an “inspirational example of the grit and determination”.

Ms Chandi admitted that she “didn’t know much about the continent” when the idea first came about, but was determined to prove that she could achieve anything.

“The expedition was always about so much more than me,” she wrote upon completion.

“I want to encourage people to push their boundaries and to believe in themselves, and I want you to be able to do it without being labeled a rebel.”

Half of the funds raised from the extraordinary feat will go towards an adventure grant for women attempting unique challenges, which she plans to launch next year.

The rest will go to Khalsa Aid, “who’s message is to recognise the whole human race as one,” she said.

“Hopefully doing something that pushes me so far out of my comfort zone will inspire others to believe in themselves and push their boundaries,” she said.

A puratan Nishan Sahib was recently hoisted by the Baba Baljeet Singh Jee who is the  Mukh Sevadaar there. The Khanda on the top of Nishan Sahib was painted by Baba Ji as it must have got rusted. The colour of the Nishan Sahib is yellow(basanti) and not the present day kesri nishan sahibs we see.

Before coming into sikhi, I wasn't a practicing Sikh or had much knowledge of sikhi. My jatt friends were similar.

But I never witnessed jatt boys doing any physical harm or emotional harm to mazbi or dalit Sikhs around me

On the other hand, when our Kharrku movement was going on, many and many dalits Hindu boys emotionally harmed me and fellow Patka wearing sikh boys by calling us terrorists or Pakistanis etc.

Dalits try to show themselves as victims.

Dalit Hindus of punjab were totally against our Kharrku movement and totally supported the genocide of Sikhs by GOI.

Dalit community is not all good. They hv their share of bad oppurtunist people. Many mazbis joined police force and killed many of our Kharrkus as well as young sikh boys to get promotions.

So there are bad people in every community including mazbis, jatts and tarkhaans.

So if some jatts did some bad to mazbis doesn't mean all the jatts are doing the same.

I think Indians are easily influenced by what the media tells them, maybe less nowadays. I think they believe everything the see in media.

Before the areas like Jagraon, Moga, down to Muktsar became rich farmland a large part of these area were desolate and covered with many sand dunes. It was referred to a Jangal Des. Only in the 1920s and after partition were many of these sand dunes removed and the land started to be extensively cultivated. Even in the 1970s I remember that sand dunes were removed from close to my village. When the area become rich farmland it lost the title of Jangal Des.

    What? Are you a feminist?

It’s well known that Eastern European girls (particularly the ones from countries he mentioned like Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, etc) are the main source of pr*stitutes and online gold diggers and s*x workers. Now you’re going to tell me being a s*x worker is ok. No matter how poor you are (plenty of more countries poorer than the ones listed above), no traditional female under any circumstance should engage in those activities. Ukraine quite literally has the biggest ‘callgirl’ website in the world where girls sell themselves for as little as £5.

They also dress way differently from Western Europeans, they always wear more exposing outfits and high heels because they grow up being taught to attract attention from men. Sure, if we’re talking about ‘traditional’, they know how to cook and clean but that’s not what makes someone better. They’re literally raised to be taught to cook and clean from a young age so they can bag a high quality man (their culture is very gold diggerish) whilst western women (despite everyone’s hatred for them) are still more likely to date random dead end jobbers with no other redeeming values either.

He is probably basing his opinion off of Polish women. Some of them are normal yet some of them are the most trashiest you’ve ever seen.

Also, these countries have ridiculously high divorce rates (look at Russia) where women will marry a man and divorce him quickly after having children taking everything with her.

There are far more traditional cultures, like our own, East Asian, Middle Eastern. African. Heck, I would say even Latin culture in South America is more traditional as they are also religious and even though a lot of their culture revolves around s*xuality, at least they aren’t as cold/emotionless.

Have met many Eastern Europeans in the UK, from various countries. I don't see they are 'more loose' than the people here. If anything, they do have more people who follow religion. Polish especially.

Are basing your views on what you have seen on the Internet/TV ? Or have you actually lived in Ukraine or Russia?

I think cold climate generally leads to colder people, emotionally and the opposite. Even somewhere like USA

So what's up with Ravi promoting himself all over the internet but no info from birth until he founded Khalsa Aid. He was in the military?

He just sticks to the same story everywhere. Punjab til 12 or whatever, then regains his faith however many years ago, then Khalsa Aid. And none of the usual banter, backstory, I was laying bricks etc. Nothing. Just the same three points, everywhere.

I went to a talk from him around 2010. I think he was an adult when he came to the UK, like in his 20's. He knew no English.

Don't remember any other details about what he did before. I think he is a good man deep down. But his mind and views have been misled, maybe he has poor advisors.
