  1. The difference between us Sikhs and the non-Sikhs is that we put everyone else first and ourselves last because it is seva and therefore it is "self-less" and we must recognise the "Human race is one". Let us not forget that Sikhs are humans too.
  2. Other than the SGPC or Akal Takht, does there need to be some kind of body in the UK, a Gurdwara watchdog so to speak that monitors and audits each Gurdwara to ensure that they are not conducting any form of beadbi. This body needs to be incorruptible and unbribable as much as possible. It would uninfiltratable as possible so that it cannot be subverted. If a Gurdwara committee is found guilty then they should be fined because the only pain they feel is in the pocket. The committee members need to be named and shamed, blacklisted if needed. They must be accountable and it needs to be made public because the worst thing these crooks fear is being exposed.
  3. Like it has been said before the BBC has an agenda, gone are the days of impartiality. The sooner the TV License is scrapped the better!
  4. Is there are difference between "New Labour" and "Old Labour". Has the Blair influence on the Labour Party made it more anti - sikh?
  5. When the Gujerati riots happened, we must understand that it was a riot both Gujerati muslims and Gujerati hindus are equally to blame. Even though it was mainly muslims that were killed, a lot of Hindus were killed also. This riot would not have happened if the 56 people on the train were not burnt alive in Godhra (which is muslim majority area in Gujerat). These people on the train were coming back from Ayodya in Uttar Pradesh which is where the Babur Mosque was demolished in 1992 because it was believed to be built on a temple where Rama was born. If India had a proper law and order system, the culprits from the train burning would have been caught very quickly, brought to justice and would have quelled any riot that might have happened. However, Modi had only been CM for a few months and had a lot of influence placed on him by a particular VHP leader called Praveen Togadia. This guy is the true instigator of the riots. If you YouTube some of his rallies, you will see how provocative his speeches are. Also Google Indian journalist Karan Thapar who had an interview of Modi and he grilled Modi. You need to see Modi's face when questioned about the riots, if there is an admission of guilt I do not know what is.
  6. Well it's time we get back our physical, spiritual and intellectual spheres.
  7. Our people are deemed to be thick because we are too trusting of others, we are naive because we have lost the balance of being Sant-Sipahi, have not embraced the concept of miri-piri. Hindus can be crafty and conniving, however if they were truly smart they would not have allowed themselves to be conquered, invaded time and time again.
  8. "Theres a sayin that out of muslim, sikhs n hindus, hindus r the smartest, muslims r inbetweeners, n sikhs r jus outright thick, n its true! " Yes Hindus are so smart that they have been conquered for a thousand years. How very Chanakya!
  9. Have Sikhs for Justice try the same against the likes of K.S. Brar, Jagdish and the rest of the Congress goons? If they can do this against the PM of India, imagine what they can do against these lot.
  10. I cannot see how India is going to be bothered about Canada if Modi has already visited the US and is visiting several countries in Europe. Although Modi is PM of India, we must remember during the floods in Uttaranchal a few years ago, Modi as CM of Gujerat only worked to rescue his own fellow Gujeratis. It was the likes of Khalsa Aid who went in and provided aid and supplies to villagers trapped by the mountain mud slides. These are the same Gujeratis who want to kick out the Sikhs from the lands that were acquired decades ago which were barren and the Sikhs helped to make fertile. Gandhi the so called Gujerati Mahatma who conspired with the British to get rid of Bhagat Singh, this Gujerati also wanted Punjabi and our Gurbani in Devnagari script but never asked the same for his own mother tongue. This is the same Gujerati that left his Gujerat intact whilst our Punjab was broken into two after so much bloodshed. Arya Samaj was started by a Gujerati and they are virulently anti-Sikh. Sardar Patel, the so called iron man of India was also virulently anti Sikh. The Gujerati Hindu is one of the most hardcore Hindutva but also some of the most adharmic people and also some of the most anti-Sikh people. Let these hardcore Hindutvas and Islamics duke it out, let us Sikhs keep out of it.
  11. UK Sikhs are a longer established diaspora, in a lot of cases it is a "been there, done that, worn the T Shirt" scenario.
  12. Even though I would question his "last Sikh Warrior" claim, he is at least trying to teach his son some self defence which is more than I can say about some of the Sikh nancy boys these days. He does have students, have anyone of you guys met them and ask it is effective? Though his hindu pushups look like they need working on and he could teach his son to do a proper push up.
  13. What these people do not realise is that everyone has the jot inside them to connect with our creator, our Guru has shown us how to do that through Naam, you do not need these "God Men".
  14. I find it slightly strange that because another Sikh does not like me for my background or my social status therefore I must convert to another faith in order to feel accepted. It's like saying I do not get on with my Chacha and my Thaiya and my cousins because I am poorer than them, therefore I must find another family to join. Who will pay me money to join their family. If every other Sikh chooses to hate my guts or wants to treat me differently, what does it have to do with the love for my Guruji. Ultimately, it is between the relationship between yourself and the Akaal. Funny enough I was listening to the weird and wacky guy that is Deepak Chopra and he made a book called Seven Rules for Spiritual Success, he kind of mentions that in the human condition that there is need for acceptance and that it was built on attachment, fear and ego and by letting go of these things we do not care if others judge us (or something like that). It does sound very similar to the five vices of moh, lobh, ahankar, krodh and kaam. It is clear this particular Granthi even though Amritdhari had not been able to let go of his vices.
  15. When this film was made were any religious scholars consulted to ensure accuracy? When Hollywood makes these big budget Biblical films, Biblical scholars are consulted. Bollywood loves copying Hollywood, why could they not copy them in this instance and take consultation from someone from Akal Takht to maintain accuracy and follow the correct criteria?
  16. Well the solution would be to open a non-caste non-commitee based gurdwaras.
  17. "jatt supremacy in the panth in garb of modern singh sabha gurdwaras or ramagharia supermacy in segregated ramagharia gurdwara so on so forth. " This is at the commitee level, not at the sangat level.
  18. I did not realise Xtian means ex-Christian, I thought it was short hand for Christian, but I stand corrected. The reason Jesus was born through virgin birth and to die for "our sins" is because according to christian theology since the human race comes from Adam and Eve, we are all sinners. Jesus cannot be born through the same lineage since he would also be born through sin. According to Christian theology therefore only Jesus is sin-less and the only way you can receive salvation is through Jesus. But in Sikhi, there is no concept of original sin. It's irrelevant for us. I do not think you need a lot of people to do what you suggest what you are doing.
  19. Caste discrimination was always there in different forms but there was no threat in Christian missionaries. What makes it different then and what makes it different now?
  20. Yes, he took the financial bait. Therefore, it could be concluded that caste was not the reason but it was due to poverty. If institutions such as SGPC cannot be bothered then changes need to be made.
  21. Question If caste based Gurdwaras are the problem, how come this epidemic is not as prevalent in the West where you have " caste" based Gurdwaras?
  22. If you read the article, you will notice that the evangelicals trick of exploiting the aam janta has been foiled, so they are trying another tactic which is to bribe the granthis because through the granthi you can convert the masses. However, this trick also needs to be foiled, so the next trick for the evangelicals would be bribe the institutions and maybe convert influential people in the akal takht or the SGPC. We all know the Xtian missiinaries are exploiting weaknesses but they are not doing this out of the good of their hearts, this is just another form of re-colonisation. Remember the Church (whichever denomination) are the largest landowners outside of the Indian Government. Which also means that this land is controlled by foreign entities, the churches are not independent Indian churches but are franchises like McDonalds or KFC.
  23. The self hating is more pronounced by the likes of the "journalists" I have mentioned who due to having access to media outlets and have large amount of followers on twitter. Their message goes out further than the positive Sikhs but maybe that is because negativity sells.
  24. From our discussions here from a the various posters here, we can conclude a couple of points: Firstly, Sikh women are no shrinking violets and never have been. They give as good as they get and can dominate families. As Jagsaw says, "rules the roost" Secondly, as a result Sikh families are not the oppressive Patriarchal structures that they are portrayed to be. However, the recent media reports which Western Feminist narrative likes to portray the female infanticide as an example of male Patriarchal oppression is a load of huey because there is a lot of female on female pressure to produce sons which either the media are completely ignorant of or are deliberately ommitting because they do not want facts to get in the way of a good story. The problem I have is the use Chamcha Coconut Sepoy like Journalists like Sathnam Sanghera or Sunny Hundal who promote this garbage. If there is any positive about our community they will ignore, however the minute there is a potential negativity, they start to salivate and jump on oppressive male patriarchal system. We do not have many positive Sikh journalists in the media.
