  1. Sorry I should of said it is very rare to see a Sikh interfaith couple both chak amrit. But you mentioned the rise of Atheism. Yes Atheism is growing very fast among the youth due to seeing religion as oppression and violence in their own views hence they become very ignorant of religious followers. The problem is that today western Sikh youth are saying Sikhism should be progressive and throw the "its equality" excuse without going over gurbani/rehit and talking in depth about this interfaith marriage issue. This is what we'd expect out of youth growing up in westernized secular societies
  2. I see this as an perfect example of a (supposedly) Sikh woman who has probably a pint of knowledge on Sikhi and sees interfaith weddings in gurdwaras perfectly fine because of the overused excuse of "Sikhi is all about equality" so why can't it happen or this common excuse "You Sikh close-minded fundamentalists are the ones who keep youth out of gurdwaras blah blah blah blah, interfaith weddings is very acceptable in Sikhi." Its always these so called Sikh women in western world who just want to bash Gursikhs on keeping Sikhi intact and stopping it from changing to fit modern day societal values. To any of these so backward Sikh followers: 1. Mosques and most synagogues don't allow interfaith marriages. Because they themselves already know they chose to marry outside their religion hence not showing interest in their religion that says marry inside you religion only. So why doesn't Sikhi have to be more progressive to please these so called modern day supposedly Sikhs. Yes, we all are about equality but its also about following Guru's teachings to the fullest. How can two marriage partners follow one religion and another religion that contradicts each other? No way possible. 2. Most Sikh interfaith couples who bring up their children have their children in confusion when it comes to religion. I probably bet that 90% of Sikh interfaith couples have no urge to follow teachings of the GGS. Their kids too in most cases don't follow Sikhi (read gurbani, follow rehit), hence why do the anand kaaraj in the first place. When do people ever see Sikh interfaith couples bringing up their children as Gursikhs? Never because they never showed interest. Most Sikh males who marry in a Sikh interfaith marriage are mona hence they showed no interest at all not even marrying within their own religion. 3. Most Sikh interfaith couples do the anand kaaraj ceremony and then do the other partner's religious ceremony also? You makes vows with your lifetime partner to follow the GGS and the GGS only and then do another religion marriage vows? To be a Sikh you follow the GGS ONLY no question. I have no problem with a mona Sikhs doing the anand kaaraj because they at least know to marry a Sikh and also who knows if they become Gursikhs later on in life (whether from parchar or deciding to become devoted Gursikhs over the time). There are examples of that but for Sikh interfaith marriage partners when do you see them together taking amrit? NEVER. They say they follow two religions at a time. There is no Muslim-Sikh or Christian-Sikh..... Too many Sikhs on this site have already stressed what I've said above but these kinds of people still complain and complain..........
  3. GurSikhs should be looking after each copy of GGS and how its being maintained/used. Unlike you. I'm not for inter-faith marriages when 95% of the couples have no intention of following GGS teachings and are doing anand kaaraj just to get married their parent's way or so. This to me is misusing GGS.
  4. Shes a Sikh...I don't know but she sure is brainwashed to even write an article about it and attack Sikhsangat members. If she wants to discuss this matter why not simply write on this forum instead of ranting on it in her little wedding blogs. They always attack indirectly.
  5. So apparently there's a Sikh woman who wrote against some of our own members of Sikhsangat about the whole Interfaith wedding issue. Check it out:: http://secretweddingblog.com/why-i-defend-multicultural-marriages-against-people-like-this/
  6. http://secretweddingblog.com/how-to-have-an-interfaith-sikh-wedding-outside-of-the-gurdwara/ UK Sikhs got a hippie Interfaith Sikh priest doing anand kaaraj with GGS outside of gurdwara for a long time with his odd views. Another reason why I think less copies GGS should be available.
  7. If they get all mad over a horse race I would not wanna mess with them :lol2: :biggrin2:. But they really need to control their anger on the side note.
  8. Amritsar: Clashes erupt between Nihang Sikhs, three injured Sikhs of our own are the Sikhs worst enemy. :ohno:
  9. I was surprised to find out his dad was a GurSikh before he passed away. I would be upset with him in no doubt he used dharmik songs just to please one side of his fans and go back to songs talking about women/sharabis. MODERN DAY PUNJABI MUSIC FOR YOU.
  10. I still disagree bro with the Sikh girls holding onto our future generations. Yes majority old Sikh men who are holding onto the gurdwaras for their own benefits and not doing what needs to be done are the problem. In the future there will be a shift to new Sikh Panthic leaders who hopefully will start get things going. As of the girls I can tell you again majority and I am saying majority are not interested in Sikhi. They are probably daughters of mona Sikhs or so or have a Keshdhari Dad but doesn't teach her anything hence she will not care in the future. This is happening to many many Sikh girls in Punjab How do I know this? Its not hard to see yourself to be honest it is quite clear what is happening. There are more people starting to leave Sikhi or even not interested in Sikhi then those coming back into Sikhi. We see some Sikh girls transforming into Singhnis but think of the mass amount of other Sikh girls leaving Sikhi behind when they go to college for an instance. This is a long topic and can be discussed forever as there's already a similar thread like this. Also if we Sikhs want to fix anything in this Panth we have to go to the root of the problem. There's broken branches (issues) outside India regarding Sikhs but we need to understand the Akal Takht is the root of many of our problems instead of helping out parchar for girls and even boys in Punjab villages you have the jathedar telling Sikh couples to start having four kids? complete bogus. (off-topic but needed to be said)
  11. Today's Sikh girls are far more glued up about Sikhi? I disagree. Just because they show up to gurdwara or bring up Sikhi on twitter or social media doesn't make them good future Sikhs. Sikhs in the west aren't strong yet. We are unorganized still. Now that might be the case in U.K. but by being in America at the moment, Sikhi here doesn't look that bright in the future where literally gurdwaras have not done enough to reach out to the youth hence majority not being interested. Even in Cali and New York where the majority of US Sikhs there are a lot of youth not interested in Sikhi. A lot of progress needs to be made.
  12. Not surprised at all. I have heard worse stories and its shocking. I think if parents play a big role in the upbringing of their daughters with Sikhi values it can make a good effect on her choices later in life.
  13. Not just apne Sikh girls are doing bad stuff...Muslim girls have an issue too you'd actually be surprised how many wear hijab and *act religious* but go clubbing at night and who know what goes on. Its the western societal values that are corrupting the youth. Its shameless and disgusting and we are allowing the hole to get deeper and deeper.
  14. during Sikh camp evening divans the kids of both genders sit together and chit chat for hours. I do see a real reasoning behind this is to focus on kirtan/bani/simran while not being distracted by opposite sex.
  15. In 10-20 years its going to get out of control with Muslims becoming the majority in the future. I see something ugly in the future for the UK.
  16. Very true i see mahapurakhs as our mediators between us and GGS. Their ways helps us to be closer to GGS thats the way I try to see it. Yesss, more the Satkaar the better.
  17. the problem is that Amritdharis say we have to follow rules of one mahapurakh only or another mahapurakh who has different rules on this and that?? I find it strange that some Sikhs are so in tuned to mahapurakhs this and that.... oh he said you can do this but not that...
  18. I don't see it as a big interference with having satkaar of GGS but apparently Bhai Randhir says so. I feel it has little effect.
  19. 9) It is Manmat to put pictures of the Gurus anywhere near where Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee is Parkashed. In the room or on the Rumalle. Not even in the room? Doesn't this seem a little overboard?
  20. Before Bollywood like what sikhiseeker said we have to focus on Punjab music/movie industry. With Jatt and Juliet and other caste promoting crap thats going on whether in movie or music it is hurting us Sikhs. Punjabi movies are no different from those of hollywood now.
  21. can you just do the 32 paath of brahmn kavach after nitnem without the items or its supposed to be done that specific way?
