  1. I can agree there needs to be some protection for gurdwaras since Oak Creek Gurdwara incident. I am from a conservative state where most whites don't have a clue about Sikhs and I have been shouted out right outside my gurdwara by whites calling us "towelheads". There is a lot of ignorant hatred in America so I think I can agree to some extent of making sure Singhs and Kaurs have some gun training just for safety as we have no idea what can happen next.
  2. Or make the Sikh youth take over the gurdwaras in the coming years where our elders have done a poor job in supporting the youth with gurmat teachings and Sikhi history and values.
  3. There is a much less population of Sikh girls now that are interested in amritdharis and even keshdharis. Sikh girls are being spoiled by the culture that they live in affecting their choice in finding a man that is suitable in their society.
  4. Time will tell what will happen to Sikhs in India due to Hindu fanatics. I say enough of the tyranny. Sikhs need to start unifying themselves in India towards tackling issues like this to prevent them to happen in the future.
  5. This is why someone has to be there present listening to the Aakhand Paath. It is totally pointless then. Also many ragis are not speaking while akhand paath is going on and might be skipping words or even pages. Akhand paath is supposed to be done perfectly. Bhai Jugraj Singh even shares a sakhi that wwII sikh soldiers were slacking during the aakand paath and did it over again. Nowadays its even worse.
  6. Your absolutely right about our Gurus not being ease with criminals back then. Such punishments were given to traitors and murderers but nothing like what Muslims are doing in the name of Allah today.
  7. http://www.panthic.org/articles/5488 good article on exposing Dhunda
  8. Hopefully he doesnt get jail time :strong:
  9. The langar at my gurdwara is fine. Usally the sevadaars don't go overboard with the food choices. But for snacks before langar is always smosas and so many sweets I really don't see a point in this and as many people are outside diwaan hall eating and eating and not sitting in the diwaan hall questions me is it appropriate to serve sweets or such food before langar.
  10. That's something good to hear from other countries. I guess in America where Sikhi is pretty strong in big cities in Cali and NY I am sure we are carrying the tradition with gatka academys. Hopefully it actually shows some effectiveness in self-defense for all people practicing gatka. There are a lot of mentally ill people out there just shooting places and people for ill-minded reasons.
  11. I see gatka fading away soon enough in the next 30-50 years to be honest due to advanced guns etc..... but won't be extinct never.
  12. True. People will mistake him for this and that in the NBA. Look at Nav Bhatia though is a good representative of our Sikh community going to NBA games just to stand out in a crowd with a dastaar. That's what I'd like to see more.
  13. In my own opinion, American Sikhs should at least have a weapon to protect themselves due to the ignorant violence that occurs in the U.S. it wouldn't hurt to have training + weapon to secure your own family or own self. Sikhs are still being racially targeted by people in public and who knows what is the next time a Singh is gunned down in America....
  14. I question if Punjabis have a functioning brain if they are following this Baba......
  15. WJKK WJKF I will answer most of your questions no problems. 1) Yes you will experience some sweat and hotness during the summer wearing a dastaar in 80 degrees or hotter weather. It isn't too bad at some times but you will eventually be used to the heat no doubt. So do not worry at all. 2) If you want a kind of dastaar that is very secure on your head you should wear a dumalla. Dumallas are tight and keep your head secure. 3) Different people use different materials like voil or malmal... If you want a soft and light material you should get malmal (f74)
  16. Shootout outside US gurdwara Sacramento, California: At least one shot was fired during the annual Baisakhi Parade near a gurdwara at 176 E Pole Road in Lynden on Saturday. The police arrested a Whatcom County man after a fight broke out and at least one shot was fired outside the gurdwara. Witnesses reported that several men started fighting in front of the Guru Nanak Gursikh Gurdwara. Balwinder Singh Nagra (41) from the Bellingham area allegedly grabbed a gun from his vehicle and shot at several men. Nagra was arrested and lodged in Whatcom County Jail on the suspicion of drive by shooting and unlawful possession of a firearm. Under the state law, the term “drive-by shooting” includes shootings from the immediate area of a vehicle used to transport the suspect, the weapon or both. There were no known injuries, but the other men involved in the fight left the area. A bullet went through both the passenger and driver’s side windows of a parked white Toyota Camry in a field, about 150 yards from the event, before striking another parked car. More than 1,000 visitors gathered at the gurdwara for the parade. Source: The Tribune http://sikhsangat.org/2014/shootout-outside-us-gurdwara/ Anyone in California sangat know what was the reason behind this shooting? (Better not be gurdwara politics :stupidme: )
  17. Yeah I mean of course if he wasn't in Punjab in a long time he should be fine. I heard also one of the Khalistan leaders just a year or so ago was detained at a airport in UK I believe for being a Khalistani supporter in the 90's. He says now that time has past etc... I was surprised India was still on his *** for his participation in Punjab. Its 30 years now and they are still doing this and they know very well there are strong Khalistan supporters aboard India. They better be scared :strong: :nono:
  18. I can be certain they go aboard on the internet and not just FB. Especially if Anti-Indian haters or Khalistan supports have arguments on India media-based sites or FB pages get all of that deleted just to be safe. You really never know tbh.
  19. Yeah I mean he was a big part of Sikh community in Canada talking about the Sikh genocide in Parliament (which probably pissed off Congress Party) and he is also a Sikh activist doing various events Sikhi-related. Jagmeet Singh is pretty well known so I guess if your not a big figurehead and don't have any anti-Indian agenda on the internet (fb,twitter,or youtube) your fine. If you do have Anti-Indian or Anti-Hindu rants on internet just get rid of it if your personally concerned that you'll get detained or who knows what. :strong:
  20. I'm not so sure but from what I've heard it is possible for the Indian Gov't too have background checks on those who visit India. For example NDP politcian Jagmeet Singh was denied visa to India due to his involvement in 1984 campaigns in Canada. So i am not really sure but indeed there are checks on people coming to India.
  21. These are just little racist rascals behind the computer and putting flyers in Brampton to support their website and cause.
