  1. you know what, I'm not even joking. I was thinking that too! Even I've noticed when I listen to it whilst working on the ipod, its just like background music although baani will always have a positive effect, its not really resulting to me being peaceful because my mind will just wonder! I have a CD that's always playing in my room too but like you said I have to do my own simran! I'm thinking to begin devoting my time starting from 5 minutes a day where I will just sit and do naam simran! But pa ji, the problem is I can't think of a way in which I can keep my mind focused! Knowing me ill sit there to do simran whilst my mind will wonder and it'll just be an opportunity for me to day dream and go further away from Waheguru ji! It's actually so depressing when I think about it :sad2: and thank you very much for pointing it out to me and reminding my aatma that my aim is to reach parmatma not just do formality :respect:
  2. Its really nice to see someone wanting to tie a dastaar and being proud of it. :smile2: But I must point out that I have never seen a boy with DUMMALLA (gol pagg) with a trimmed bread or drinking or eating meat. To be honest the other type of turbans are tied by other people too from other religions. Also if boys are getting it wrong, doesn't mean and are dumb enough to follow ! I mean so far girls with a turban on have been setting the real sikhi example by actually remaining in the rehat and I think we should continue doing that. You should only tie a turban if your ready to take responsibility because remember once you take on sikhi saroop you do not only represent yourself but the whole Sikh community! Just to make it clear i'm not saying you can't tie a turban but I am conditioning it that if you do want to te a turban you have to follow the sikhi rules and regulations. Someone's probably going to say that "boys don't follow the rules, this is not fair" but may I humbly point out that boys in other religions can tie turbans too but its only in Sikhism where females also have the opportunity. So we should cherish it and take care of the gift given to us :smile2: Bhul chuk maaf
  3. I've noticed a lot of people on this forum mentioning 'moneh Sikhs' and I understand the concern and worry that everyone has to bring them back to our beautiful sikhi saroop. Just happened to be I saw this story of Bhai Jeevan Singh ji, who brought back a monah to sikhi. The only method he used was total love and humility, maybe this is what we're lacking today ? THE STORY ( Its written as someone's experience, unfortunately not mine) One evening, we had just finished doing keertan at Singh Sabha Slough. A singh phoned and said he had booked kirtan in Hounslow, and we should come straight away. Bhai sahib said lets go quickly, we should always be on time. As Bhai sahib, his singhni, myself and another youth walked downstairs into the joorian section. A mona was walking in the Gurdwara. He bumped into Bhai sahib. He said sorry, and looked in Bhai sahib face. Those who knows bhai sahib know how enigmatic his smile his, and how his face always shines. Bhai sahib said to him, I came here to especially see you, I have something for you. Bhai sahib took off his dastaar and handed it to him. The mona could not believe it was said to him with so much pyaar and humilty. From that day that mona kept his kesh and came into sikhi... :waheguru: In Guru Granth Sahib ji , Sheikh Fraid ji says - ਨਿਵਣੁ ਸੁ ਅਖਰੁ ਖਵਣੁ ਗੁਣੁ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਮਣੀਆ ਮੰਤੁ ॥ Humility is the word, forgiveness is the virtue, and sweet speech is the magic mantra so please forgive me for any mistakes I've made whilst posting this !! Bhul chuk maaf ji :smile2:
  4. I don't think there is actually any right or wrong way to naam simran ! Guru Nanak Dev ji promotes divine music. People may ask what divine music is, Guru ji says divine music is the music which takes you away from the materialistic/bodily desires and encourages and attaches you to the Lords name! So using your Guitar when doing simran is probably a good idea! Music is very powerful and any type of music can be used in naam simran, In Jap ji sahib ji says - ਵਾਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਦ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਸੰਖਾ ਕੇਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਾਵਣਹਾਰੇ ॥ Countless musical instruments of so many various kinds vibrate there for You; so many are the musicians there for You. I just use a maala when doing simran because it helps with my concentration, weirdly or I just listen to simran on my ipod when working/cleaning/walking etc! :D
  5. O really ? I didnt know that? How is the word singh related to hinduism ? it’s okay But the full saaki goes like this When Guru Nanak Dev ji asked bhai bhoomia ji about how he earned the money, bhai Bhoomia ji told the truth, that he steals. Guru ji explained that this is wrong but Bhai Bhoomia ji said that it was a family business and in his blood, so he couldn't stop. :nono: Impressed by his truth telling, Guru ji decided to bless him. Guru ji gave Bhai Bhoomia ji 3 rules he said - do not steal from the poor or make them suffer, do not tell lies do not steal from those, whose salt you have eaten. So the next time Bhai Bhoomia ji went out to steal he thought that he can't steal from the poor as that will be going against Guru ji and from other rich people in the village he had at some time eaten meals with (eaten their salt). Bhai Bhoomia ji decided he’ll steal from the king! Being a master of disguise bhai Bhoomia ji dressed as a king and went to the king palace. There the guards stopped him and asked him what he had come to do. Bhai Bhoomia ji bound by Guru Nanak Dev ji's bachan told the truth and said "i am here to steal", the guards got worried and thought that Bhai Bhoomia ji must be a relative of the king who had got offended by them asking what he is here for. So they allowed Bhai Bhoomia ji to go. Bhai Bhoomia ji began stealing all the jewels etc but on the table he suddenly saw some white powdery substance so when he put a bit in his mouth he realised that it was salt. Now he knew that if he continued to steal he would be breaking Guru jis Bachan. As result Bhai Bhoomia ji left the bag full of jewels on the floor and escaped. When the king saw the bag full of jewels, he was very anxious to know who the robber was and why he left the bag of jewels. So the king sent out an order to find out who the robber was. The king’s men then began making the poor suffer so they could find the robber. When Bhai Bhoomia ji noticed the poor were suffering because of him he owned up to it. The king asked him why he left the bag full of jewels Bhai bhoomia ji explained the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji. The king too became Guru jis disciple. I love this saaki because it shows just how loving Guru ji is. Jidda maa apni bache diyan kammiya te ghor ni kardi and instead bache de gun dekhdi a, just like that Guru Nanak Dev ji put aside Bhai Bhoomia ji’s flaws, instead he saw the goodness in Bhai Bhoomia ji (his truth telling) and blessed him by forgiving his flaws. . No flaw sticks to that being who remains awake and aware in the Love of the Lord; the Merciful Lord is forever forgiving. :waheguru: anyway please forgivve me if ive said anything wrong in the saaki, its from the top of my head! :blush2:
  6. reminds me of the saaki about Bhai Bhoomia ji who robbed people and then used the money as charity for feeding the saadu sant. Guru Nanak Dev ji ne fe Bhai Bhoomia ji di misunderstanding door kitti. Bhai Bhoomia ji said to Guru ji "why won't you eat from my house?" Guru ji said "your living is not honest" Bhai Bhoomia ji eh sochde c k meh money naal good karda a so its okay to steal and use it for a good cause but Guru Ji explained that je good karna chonde a earn the money honestly because "Above truth is truthful living" So as for Honey 'so called singh ' if he really wants to help people he should do it in a decent way. Kithe Singh sardaar apniya dhiyan, pehna di izzat save karde c te kithe ajj kal de honey singh warge singh khud dhiyan pehna di izzat rolli jande a ! (btw ive cut the Bhai bhoomia jis saaki really short just to make my point - saaki bohat nice a you should read it)
  7. knew you'd blame the bibyan! Gurdas Mann babeyan nu v batheri fook dinda a "beh ke dekh jawana babe bhangra ponde ne" hahha! so plenty of 75 year old babeh too! but must say Gurdas Mann has done a lot of good to, for example singing decent songs!
  8. hahah boys outsmarting girls ! damn must be kalyug :lol2: yeah we are so lucky that Guru ji gave females the same respect as men - "why call her bad who gives birth to great kings" otherwise majority of the time women are just seen to be doormats!
  9. maybe something like, if you believe that Guru Granth Sahib ji is your only Guru then you can have a Anand Karaj :dry2:
  10. the 75 year old bibiyan that go to his concerts :biggrin2:
  11. haha im sorry ! Thank you very much! Must say you do have alot of knowledge hence i thought you were a girl haha :lol2:
  12. Radha Swami people have sikh wedings aswell :blink2: I thought they believed the 'sant' to be god !?! hehe! okay boss :respect:
  13. haww really! I Only found out about him because Gurdas Mann is a follower! I thought maybe he was someone good LOL
  14. OMG! mutual feeling! I'll clean up when everyones out and once they step in the house it'll be a mess again! i've just lost hope in having a clean house but still helplessly carry on but this time without any expectations of it remaining clean... no expectations = no dissapointments :blush2:
  15. apparently i heard drinking too much chai makes you dark !?! never again drinking tea :nono: haha
  16. I'm really confused with two things! Who is Ladhi Shah and what does he teach? who are radha swamis', what do they believe in and why do sikhs not like them ?
  17. thank you so much pen ji you've made it so clear! i was thinking so do any of these yugs effect Waheguru jis choice of when he wants to destroy and recreate the world?
  18. Aww don’t worry don’t feel upset! Mahraj kehnde a that dukh and sukh will always be there but what we need to do is change our perspective of how we see things! I remember listening to a katha by a sant and they were saying it our choice how we want to see the world so if we put on red glasses and see the world negatively our life will feel bad but if we look through the clear glass and see that what’s happening is due to our past karm and gods will, we can see our life positively! Remember that maharaj sadda bad ni chonde, Waheguru ji will always do good for us! That’s brilliant that you do Sukhmani sahib! Keep it us because I remember a saakhi of once Guru Nanak Dev ji was stopping at a village and a Gursikh and shopkeeper togther were going to visit Guru Ji but on the way the shopkeeper saw a prostitute and decided to go to her instead! After the Gursikh went to meet Guru ji and the shopkeeper visited the prostitute they met up on way. On the way home the shopkeeper found a golden coin and the gursikh got a thorn stuck in his foot. The next day the gursikh asked Guru ji why this happened as he did good and good a thorn in his foot and the shopkeeper did bad and still found a golden coin. Guru ji explained that originally the gursikh was going to have a life full of pain and suffering but because of his goodness, Guru ji cut it all down to one thorn whereas the shopkeeper was going to be incredibility rich and wealthy but due to his bad deed it was all cut down just to one coin! Also try doing Dukh bhanjani sahib! Its such a beautiful collection of baani’s. Eh path understand karn nu v bohat easy a! usually makes me feel instantly better when I feel depressed! :D be strong and Baki bhul chuk maaf ji
  19. Sikhi is so beautiful! Mahraj ji has told us everything but I wish we would just listen ! Even the big bang theory - Gurbani says 'ikoankar' that from 'IK' everything (the karaj-creation) was done! Waheguru ji told us all along but we only began believing it when secince told us I feel so proud that I have Guru ji
  20. ^^ advice from experts Cut down on the unhealthy food and my brother a gym freak! and from his Arnold Schwarzeneggar bodybuilder book,I've seen is a lot of bench press and bicep curls ! Apparently if you want more shaped muscles you should have a routine of lifting lighter weights which gradually get heavier but if you just want a big massive muscley arm just do heavy lifting which will increase the muscle size but won't really input in the shape but you'll still get a good shape when its tensed ! Baki bhul chuk maaf and good luck with your Dholeh-Sholeh
  21. haha ill be the first sister :D firstly pen ji this is quite cute! Don't worry about it, I think about it too sometimes! I feel like ill never grow up! But I'm just glad that I'm still feeling young because eventually everyone grows older and especially for girls when they get married they have to seriously pull their act together because we'll be judged as daughter-in-laws, wife mother etc or else you'll get serious criticisms (as my older sister has told me). so don't worry about it and instead enjoy your time ! awwww! I've got lots to worry about you can take some of my worries haha ! I still need to get my driving theory and test sorted too and I don't go out too much either !!! I'm not in a relationship, instead I devote my time to my family and myself OMG LOL I'm quite talkative and quite confident ! Even I feel that im a kid and need to grow up! so basically no its not just you, I think its just a normal natural thing which is the process of the transition into Adulthood! btw a lot of respect to you for talking care of your family Bhul chuk maaf ji
  22. Personally I would promote Baru sahib! On their website there's a lot of young kids who want an education but cannot afford one, so you can sponsor them! You'll be making their dream of an education come true and it'll be a long term effect as they can then grow up and get a decent job and then support themselves! And my favourite bit! They will be taught the beauty of SIkhi! It's also has the involvement of Sant Iqbal singh ji which for me makes it more reliable as they promote this sewa and urge Gursikhs to use their daswand to sponsor kids So technically you are -helping the poor -promoting sikhi - following the bachan of sant -peace of mind that your money is being used rightly and you'll be getting the blessings of people Yeah that's true about the Gurdaware! Also sometimes we forget that there are normal people out there in the world who need help and whom charities probably wont reach out to! You could choose like a charity for a year so collect all your daswand for a year and give it to Baru sahib this year and maybe Khalsa aid next year etc! Bhul chuk maaf ji
