  1. Well in my opinion, being shastardhari involves knowing how to use the weapons efficienntly in battle, which only comes through immense training, rather than just wearing them. For answering your question, yes, anyone can be shastarsdhari, anyone can carry them, but a gursikh takes it one step further. He/she is a sant-sipahi, with b ot miri and piri, not just the shastar.
  2. Stick with your nitnem, add in some dasam baanni like jaap sahib, chandi di vaar, akaal ustat, etc, Do multiple Japji Sahib, sukhmani sahibs Oh yes, do a lot of simran abhiaas and keep your mind suchet and aware, VJKK VJKF
  3. I think all you need is 5 proper rehat following sikhs. This makes the five beloved ones. When I say full rehat I mean all rehatnamas, 52 hukams, followings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Sahib Ji, etc. Bhull Chuuk Maaf VJKK VJKF
  4. VJKK VJKF I don't understand why you want to where a turban and still do those other things? Are your parents forcing you or something or are you wanting to get back into a sikhi, which is a good thing. If you want to get back into sikhi, then tie the turban, but it is unacceptable to wear turban while eating meat, etc. VJKK VJKF
  5. VJKK VJKF Another strategy is to tie your keski and connect it with your dastar, like before you finish your keski, put your outer dastaar larr in. It is an old Nihang technique which gives more stability. VJKK VJKF
  6. VJKK VJKF While this is great, as guru ke sikh we should be focusing more on strength training or conditioning. We should'nt be worrying about the physical shape of our body, however if you are conditined properly you probably won't have a much body fat anyway. If you play, any type of sport, you should condition yourself for performance, not looks. This is the same with me, I have to strength train and condition myself for my shaster practice. My body has to be strong to carry and swing heavy weapons as well as wrestle and throw punches, but at the same time agile. VJKK VJKF
  7. Watch this video, it will clear up any misunderstandings. VJKK VJKF
  8. I know this might be in the wrong place, but I was new so I didn't know where to post, so if you know anything, please tell daas.
  9. In a street fight there is only one rule. There are no rules. Keep your hands up and use whatever you can to survive. Throw sand, dirt, kcick him, whatever you can to survive. You shouldn't get into a fight to win, but to survive. VJKK VJKF
  10. Stay strong on the path, have conviction and be aware, stay safe. Hang in there brother.
  11. I think all sikhs should wear combat ready, razor sharp kirpaans. Most kirpaans you can buy no are dulled down and the blade isn't really effective at all. Bhul Vhuuk Maaf VJKK VJKF
  12. Well, something you can do is have one tab open in which you have non- lareevar saroop open and in another have lareevar saroop open and try to read the lareevar saroop and when you have difficulties you can refer back to the other tab. This is something you can do to start but other than that, I reccomend formal santhiya. Bhul Chuuk Maaf VJKK VJKF
  13. Something else you can do is Akhand Paath followed by ardaas for that person. Also, Sukhmani Sahib is great. These are just some suggestions. VJKK VJKF
  14. Can you specifically state where in British Columbia so I can help you find a Gurughar close to your house?
  15. True. It is a social experiment right? You never know when that one person is thinking of commiting suicide and you can save them or push them off the edge.
  16. You can also do strongman trainning for forearms. Carry heavy stuff around like sandbags without proper from. Good for forearms and wrists.
  17. This is true for every sikh, not just women Bhull chukk maaf
  18. Its true. Mool mantar ends at Gur prasad but there is nothing to fight about. Some people do it till nanak hosee bhee sach and some dont. It doesnt really matter its just that jap signifies the start of jap ji sahib.

  20. First of all, it looks like their dancing to the tune rather than doing yoga which is obviously wrong in gursikhi. Their is no need to actually dance. " Har jan Naacho, har har dhiaae" You should make your dancing medidating on Akaal Purakh. It is however ok to recite baani, while doing things like cooking, cleaning, shastar abhiyaas but I don't think you should be dancing to baani. Personally, I think it is ok to meditate whilst doing yoga but if one is reciting baani, they should show some more respect than what is happening in the video. As long as you show respect through your mind, spirit and body language, than it is ok to recite baani. Forgive me if anything I said is wrong, VJKK VJKF
  21. Yes, like stated above, try to take part in other activities/sports. Also, instead of trying to remove the bad thoughts do something that will puts good thoughts in your brain. Do whatever you enjoy doing and use the good thoughts from these activities to override your bad thoughts. Other than that, could you shed some more light on what kind of thoughts they are. Are they kaami, krodhi, attachement? There are different approaches to differnet kinds of thoughts. VJKK VJKF
  22. VJKK VJKF Sat Sangat Ji, I have a question I would like to ask about shaster in a dumalla. It is a quick question and I hope some singhs or kaurs out their can shed shed some light on it. I have heard old stories about nihangs in battle where they would take the weapons out of their dumalle and use them in battle. I can see how one would take off a chakram but how about a kirpaan. Is their a certain way you must tie the kirpaan into the dastaar? I have this question because I have tried experimenting tieng a kirpaan into my dumalla but whenever I try and take it out it always messes up the lar or it takes too long to get out. Now, in the battlefield, say you dropped your sword and you couldnt reach it for whatever reason, you would have to take that weapon out of your dastaar fast or your dead. So i was wondering if anyone can post an explanation, video, etc. that explains how Nihangs did this. Thank you, VJKK VJKF
