  1. shouldn't this be all free with no money involved? who volunteers and who does sewa free of cost? and who doesn't want to make a living out of this? otherwise we have already seen which direction all this is going to. golaks with locks, managements figting, people not ready to leave their prestigious committee seats.......even the dumbest creature on planet earth can tell you that this is not what sewa or religion is. why turn a blind eye to all this? respected elders and young people should come together. the question will be "who wants to take sewa of the electricity bill or repairing the toilets etc?" NOT "who wants to be the president? or chairman? or secretary? THEN we will see whether the old committee heads or people who shout all the time would come forward or not.
  2. Full time employees. Is this a business? I know lots of guru ghars are registered as limited companies. Religion should be promoted by volunteers and that too intelligent professionals. Not anyone ....who is not skilled and couldn't find a decent job starts working for a guru ghar. Lots of Biharis who came to work in Punjab turned full time guru ghar employees as they saw an easy income.
  3. I hope he is not making a career out of sewa. What does he actually do except of course sewa? I believe we need people who are not solely dependent upon guru ghar like many others.
  4. Entrepreneur and will make thousands. Will be better than a banker or a footballer.
  5. Don't assume. Because it makes an a s s out of u and me. Preparing sets of accounts is ok. But paying someone over the market price and that too nearly a million.
  6. Can't bhaji.....professional reasons. Have you read this? https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/306466/Financial_management_and_governance_review_Guru_Nanak_Sikh_Academy_Ltd.pdf And this https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/financial-notice-to-improve-guru-nanak-sikh-academy-ltd
  7. If two baba jis are fighting over one gurdwaras kar sewa and one gets it because of its political connections....is that still kar sewa or simply a contract. Anyways babaji will still promote and collect money from "posh" sangat as kar sewa. Who decides about kar sewa? Why building big buildings when Sikhs are getting smaller and smaller every day?
  8. Why only youth? Don't you need some experienced people? Committee should be open to all. Why not work for these issues that you have raised with the current committee..... And provide public proof if the current committee failed to address these issues....eg raise the issue and if not solved video it and share. That's sewa. If everyone starts making a new group then we will have several. Who are these trustees and who appointed them?
  9. Please note that the cost cannot be 100k. And who appointed the so called god man to decide what and where things need to be done. What is there "taan" sewa? Is that just travelling around in big cars and jumbo jets at the expense of money from charity? There are millions of cows who are not in their deras. What about them? Who told you there budget is 24 million? Have you seen all the papers? What do they earn and where do they spend? Bhaji, daas knows some charities because I wAs involved in there accounting work. They make fool of the public to fund their own life style. And still you see people double their age falling into their feet.
  10. When an organisation becomes corrupt it's better for the community to dismantle it and start fresh.
  11. Those who came to ask for help were a different breed of Hindus. Like we have different breed of kale......They have evolved over time and are more volatile now. Don't discuss history just for the sake of it but learn something it.
  12. All the religious stuff should be free. Don't charge and don't pay anything to anybody. Some people are making money out of religion. CDs DVDs karas holy books all for a price.......shame
  13. Dasvand - should it be given to a charity/trust or your local guru ghar and your job is over? Or you help the needy with your dasvand? I think we are making a big mistake by trusting someone else with our dasvand. It's lazy and morally incorrect.
  14. Guru Nanak academy is good but they are still using outstanding logo on their official letterhead
  15. Simranji take it easy. May god ease your pain. If you can't then you don't need to bow. HE understands. Pray from your heart and for that you don't need to read something or repeat something nor you need to give something. It's your 1p and 2ps which are causing people to stop earning honestly and instead fight in the gurdwaras. Think how much money goes into a golak in a month. It's nearly 50000 pounds at my local guru ghar. Why and for what? What have they done for humanity with that money?they can't even repair toilets and still there are millions which they need to repay. Who needs to understand? Please educate people. Give goods or material but not money. Share and pay the electricity bill but don't put money in the golak. when you don't know don't give even if it's 2p
  16. Who needs charity and who does charity? Who knows? Charity is a myth except some people like Bhagat Puran Singh ji or mother Tresa ji who dedicated their whole life and done it with their own hands. They never went around asking for money or travelled in big flashy cars.
  17. Does king of kings live in your local gurdwaras and you think you can please him with these gifts and offerings? Who needs to understand simran ji? Problem is that our community had got too many siyane like yourself who know nothing but when it comes to preaching can talk hours and hours quoting lines and interpreting as they wish.
  18. Those that understand know what I mean, goodbye ji. Edited by simran345, Yesterday, 10:30 PM. Are you talking about Dinosaurs? They vanished from earth empty-handed.
  19. What do you mean by not going empty handed simran ji
  20. Also to add he respected SGGS ji even more than probably an amritdhari in today's world would do.
  21. No he was not amritdhari. He was a Sikh warrior who rose to become maharaja in those turbulent times. He was a strategist and had friends from different states and religions. His army comprised of akalis, Muslims, Hindus, and few goraas who were loyal to him. He loved wine, women and hunting. He was the biggest enemy of British empire till he was sick and then finally died. British walked on a red carpet to Lahore after his death which was not possible when he was alive. He was a real battle hardened lion and there are are several folklore about him.
  22. Take the golak out and you will feel NO NEED to make committees. Jokers elect jokers who claim to be closer to god. Managing free flow of money without any financial know how/background in these gurdwaras leads to clashes. It's a big business.
  23. thanks for your views......er.......can the dasvandh be kept in a golak at home and then poor/ needy helped with your own hands? or is it the same thing to put money in the golak and pass your job to a third party.
