  1. three portraits in the ones posted are of the modern era by a guy called Kailash Raj Guru Teg Bahadur ji (I think at the top of the thread ) and two of Guru Har Rai ji they have earrings but interestingly in other portraits by same artist he has put Seli Topi and tilak on Guru Nanak Dev ji in some and Dastaar in others so it seems there is no real consistent approach . Guru Angad Dev ji: Guru Ram Das ji: Guru Arjan Dev ji: Guru Har Gobind Ji Ten Guru Sahiban : point is that people are mixing modern in the style of mughal miniatures for purataan art
  2. I wasn't, I was saying we (humans) are incapable to copy them without falling off the edge ... Guru ji is beyond everything, I posted the self=portrait because Guru ji will deal in the truth only.
  3. Ok I found one self-portrait ...no earrings On the same page is a portrait of ten year old Guru Gobind SIngh ji , a bit blurry on zoom but no earrings https://profanuraagsingh.wordpress.com/2015/05/28/historicity-of-guru-tegh-bahadurs-painting-prepared-by-ahsan-sardar-anurag-singh-prof/ is the source
  4. brother given the fiasco of non-shastars being trooped in front of sikhs as the real deal this past year , I do not hold such things as important because my Guru's true roop is Gurbani. I cannot see self-adornment as making one closer to conquering haumai and panj chor , and to make holes in ones flesh is not accepting hukham, runs risk of beadbhi of Rom . We are not meant to do as Guru Sahiban did but what they said . The Guru is one jot so it is the same Guru that gave advice to tie dastaar so I am convinced by that and thus makes sense that a sikh who wears a topi condemns themself to punishment .
  5. c'mon the top picture the guy has ankle bracelets on ! This is a misappropriated picture...
  6. what about the Guru Teg Bahadur self-portrait ? does he have earrings in there? so do you really believe Guru Sahiban wore seli topi instead of dastaar , because of course it would be unheard of artist taking liberties to keep SIkhi niaarapan to a minimum to reframe sikhi as a bhakti movement within sanathan dharam . Besides I am sure it would be easy to claim the dating to be more ancient without the carbon dating to counter it (saving the picture from cutting/damage)
  7. hmm practically speaking how can a warrior be active with huge earrings like that? How does the ear get pierced without doing the risk of roma di beadbhi?
  8. the rehitnamey related to this are used to denounce tatoos too. Guru Nanak would have worn simple clothes but topi? really you think that is a valid thing , there is so many creeping misrepresentations , if in Gurbani he denounced the AGhori sadhus , the wandering fakirs , the people who pierce their ears and leave home to become jogis. Why would he wear odd shoes , patchwork clothes like a beggar mendicant ... Guru ji's Bani and kirtan announced him he needed no odd sadhu bhes . Tilak of Guru gaddi is different doesn't mean they walked around applying sandalwood tilaks everyday , you can't say on one hand they are laapariwah of clothes then suddenly self-concious enough to adorn himself with bones and sandalwood tilaks it doesn't make sense. we know from sakhis Guru Nanak Dev ji adopted the dress of the people he was among and spoke their languages .
  9. given rehitnamey to NOT wear ornaments which involved piercings i.e. noserings, earrings etc of Guru Sahiban I outright reject depictions of Guru Sahiban with tilaks and piercings , they had need to ape the Hindu hill rajas , and the sikh women had no need to pierce their noses as this was a sign of sexual subjugation (much like a bull's nose-ring was saying they are nothing more than animals to be led by the nose). Post Misl era the weak-minded would have adopted the fashions of the Hindus again. Ranjit Singh is not depicted with pierced ears , neither any of the akalis .... The artists could be just using symbology in their art to mark out the leaders , much like rennaisance painters using flowers, fruit, books, skulls to indicate holy arths
  10. I think they are scared of reaping the harvest their forebears have sown : you cannot sow discord and mistrust willynilly and expect to be immune to its effect. People say send out bad actions and you get tenfold return . White genocide is being bandied about ...but the truth is they were always a minoritiy on the planet anyhow , their flourishing to the numbers they are at now was due to sanitation and technology ...now most countries have access to the same so the field is becoming more even and that is the scarey thing for them.

you keep saying BPD , but it seems that it is not an official assessed diagnosis... please be her friend and persuade her to visit her GP to get checked out including the PMS . Get her to start taking vitamin B complex especially B3 immediately because the lack of B3 you can become subject to extreme psychological stress , aggressive outbursts , insomnia/sleep disturbance, worsening of PMS and depression . I hear extreme self-esteem issues and compensating by being controlling stemming from blood chemistry faults
  12. this was settled out of court and it is clear from reports that 5 people were suing for compensation of 150,000 pounds , that is not about establishing equality but lining pockets of the charitable trust's money.
  13. hmm seem like a collection of jathe bashing of asli gursikhs versus praise pieces of nakli sikhs ... had to smile wryily at the description of panj piarey go around abhilakhis with their hands on the abhilakee's head . I never saw any of that nonsense going on . They fail to mention that the rehit of dastaar applies to both sexes in akal takht maryada but has not been reinstated after temporary relaxation.
  14. I think they are in Canada ... but yes it does seem like the Saas is not being normal , who seperates a two month old from their mother?
  15. Perhaps since it seems an issue of sikhi upbringing she could approach the Gursikhs/SInghs in her neighbourhood for help with persuading the MIL and husband , with more outside help he may be made to see the error of his thinking . I mean God Forbid something happens to the grandma what happens to the child, they haven't even thought it through properly. Sitting in the pind he be expose to drug addiction , the kids are even involved these days.
  16. she may just have to involve the police then ... kidnapping is frowned on majorly by the Goray
  17. can you guys help who is this outfit running this site because they are very insulting trying to insinuate that nihangs are just copycats of mughals http://www.<banned site filter activated>/movements/Nihangs/Nihangs.htm
  18. But veer ji in the early days taksalis were also in Nihang dals too can't have one without the other... this schism is false .
  19. sikh voice has recently been linked with anti-sikh elements and I have had words with their team on occasion because of such videos as these and the ones spreading doubts and lies about Mahapurash such as Sant Isher Singh ji Nanaksar wale ...They went through years of slagging off Ranjit SIngh as well now they are singing his praises , trying to make buddus out of the sikhs I guess.
  20. The baby has to have his own passport and signed letters from BOTH parents before he can be transport out of the country , I suggest she doesn't comply with her letter.

    Divorce

Hmm Ok let's try to eliminate possible causes - financial problems (number one cause of marital problems) perceived lack of freedom (stuck in home, especially worse for ex-career girls ) physical - some women get extreme hormone swings (no jokes please) which can make them depressed, aggressive, suicidal even homicidal it could be that she needs medical assessment if as you say it is a regular thing . In this case , it really could be beyond her control . Apnian bibian do have major hormone issues here in the west because of :1. lack of sunlight 2. additives in foods which are xenoestrogens causing weightgain and abnormal facial hair. lack of parental guidance leading to unrealistic view of married life - frustration lack of communication leading to feeling of not being heard / cared about remember it is really hard going for a bibi to give up everything familiar and move away, lose her old id, adjust to family politics of a strange new family..etc etc ...I don't know how long you've been married but some girls need extra support and hand holding through the early years . You should try to make time to be with her and understand/listen to her it is not time wasted but time invested, which will pay off either in clearing up misunderstanding between you or for you to see if she is being unreasonable . What does she mainly get upset about , is it the same thing/s ? Do you guys go out , to break up the whole day in day out routine at all ... it could alleviate a lot of built up tension , don't have to spend loads of money go to exhibitions, concerts which are free, go Gurdwara , i.e. socialise with people apart from your family group. Visit her folks if possible , some girls get homesick (yeah surprising huh) but don't feel like they can say anything because it could be misconstrued as being NOT happy in her new home. Take that pressure off her and suggest a visit ., I do it for my hubby because his folks live abroad and he feels guilty that way too if he suggests ... it cuts both ways

    Divorce

a guy can divorce like that but the musilmah cannot she has to go to sharia court who deem her children automatically as the property of the father ...like most things it is very lopsided in favour of the guys .

    Divorce

In the Uk a property owned BEFORE the advent of a marriage belongs to the party who owned it it does not become community property . NEVER advise your daughter to buy any property in her name whilst newly married before kids because my friend had the sad experience of having all her savings in the form of her property eaten by her newly arrived husband . Also alimony is paid to the partner irrespective to sex , so she also had to pay him alimony to keep him in the manner to which he was accustomed (this doesn't automatically mean 50 percent of evrything can be more). Nobody wants to have a broken home and the kids suffering , it is very very hard for a single woman to bring up kids on average 30% less pay ...with minimal help from family if they blame her , which can happen. I'm sorry for your loss
