  1. simple remove the microphones from the podium during darbar...
  2. Baba Gurditta was father of Guru Harkrishan ji so that means he must have been grishti instead of a sadhu , this was puzzling me if he entered into the lifestyle of Sri Chand and became his protege then how would that have happened unless the Udasis all came to the grisht jeevan and Raj Yoga of Gurmat Naam.
  3. In the above thread Brother Kam 1825 has highlighted a few sources which are respected which state that the story about Sri Chand and Sukhmani Sahib is not so ... Baba Mohan ji was deeply spiritual person agreed, but I feel that when apne vadde come to us and ask for a favour we cannot refuse especially if they have kamai . The modern version is when Baba Gurbachan SIngh Bhindrawale ji asked for Sant ji from his Father ...
  4. I would like to believe it is an innocent mistake that I made when I first came across the site , but a few things were askew so I cross-referenced and then realised they have said a few things there which are strange ...I have heard in more than three places now that Guru Arjun Dev ji asked for input for his Bani Sukhmani Sahib from same Sri Chand but it is made out to be like a nimrata deference to Sri Chand to bless Guru ji with His knowledge ...err Hmm Akal Purakh I'm fairly certain would need no such help and Guru ji was ot a false flatterer either. I do not believe Guru Sahib gave Baba Gurditta to Sri Chand as a unthinking act it set the stage for the samprada which acted in the panth's favour as spy networks and custodians when warfare was the main life of the panth...
  5. Bro be aware that sikhi wiki is a 3HO sponsored site and will be pro Sri CHand to justify their practices in fact the picture of the Statue on the entry is the very same statue they have installed in Espanola , New Mexico which they do puja/pranam to. They have been taught that Yoga is part of sikhi because Sri Chand went to this path ...
  6. so what, schools have to reflect the law of the land and that is to be inclusive, basically what you are saying that Sikhs should expect to not go to good or excellent school just because of discriminatory practices of individual schools which are not really reflective of laws in the country ?
  7. intersting how anti-propaganda bills were introduced under radar in december by Obama, giving any govt total powers to shut down press outfits outside their propaganda peddling circleof control , expect to see non-conformist, independent journalism to go out the window . If there is action anti Iran then it confirms a rotchschild shill is in office . I only hope that he keeps concentrated on domestic affairs rather than further empire building .
  8. bhenji if you could give an example and its context within the shabad I'd appreciate it as I've got a feeling it is referring to abrahamic belief not ours .....
  9. How old are you because the way you are talking seems very naive ....? If he wants to marry you then he knows you are amritdhari and is sikh so knows that it is where he needs to be to be with you , if he is serious he needs to up his game not you leave Guru ji's side for the temporary worldy life with this guy. If he is emotionally blackmailing you an this is interfering with your studies I suggest he too needs to grow up and concentrate on improving his life , gursikhi and careerwise if he cannot tell his folks about his intentions then he will not do it in the future and thus he may marry someone else under their pressure . DO NOT LEAVE YOUR SIKHI , you will regret this for your whole life ...you will lower your sikhi's value in front of His family and you will hurt and possibly lose your family's support. HE NEEDS TO STAND UP AND SHOW WILLING until then do not pin your hopes on him.
  10. the concept of 7 rings of hell and 7 rings of heaven is Abrahamic and Guru Nanak Dev ji put that to bed in Iraq when he sang patala patal , lakh agasa agas ... when confronted by Pir Dastagir , he took Dastagir's son by the hand and took him to the many realms and showed him that creation is more than their concept bringing back Prashad from the other regions where like Guru ji tells us everyone praises Akal Purakh. Anita's video I have watched and she comes across as very 'it doesn't matter what you do , everything's going to be alright' which is not what Guru Pita taught us. Sure see what others believe but, remember to do the second step and see if it holds up against the truth of Gurbani and what Guru ji has taught us - the truth.
  11. remember even sikh sangat in UK invited Malcolm X and he came to see them , like minds and like hearts (wanting betterment of humankind) will always respect and honour each other . Please note, both civil rights leaders were not scared to speak the truth no matter the bitterness and the cost.
  12. but why did they take the oath of Gandhi , when Guru Pita ji had told us to never believe in oaths given to us on any holy granth ...?
  13. In the time of the Gurus most people looked at wearing a dastar as a sign of utmost respect , look at idioms from Punjabi there are loads which indicate this. All the faiths respected the dastar , in fact the Mughals passed laws forbidding non-muslims from wearing dastars because they were not deemed worthy. Everyone knows that we do maintain cleanliness to go to darbar so yes there is a level of 'discrimination' as you would call it . If a place of worship has a requirement from rehitnamey of Guru Sahiban we should encourage people towards that , not be slack and forget our duty to show full respect to Guru ji's orders . I have seen full grown men (granddaddy age) wearing a baseball cap over their kesh out and about , it is childish and really embarassing that they think aping goray is better than wearing the Crown that Guru ji blessed them with. It shows the world that they are ashamed of themselves in not so many words...so sad . I remember going to India and getting the hard staredown by three such strange specimens , guess it was my dastar giving them a complex. My husband is a goray and he has always worn a full dastar or bandana to do sewa or attend Gurudwara , to him there is no problem , in fact, seeing the sea of hankies at my cousins wedding said , why would anyone want to wear a nosecleaning cloth on their head instead of a beautiful looking turban for their daughter's/sons's wedding? Jagjot the first thing Guru Nanak Dev ji taught us was what ? to live in Hukham , it is hukham you have kesh so you should keep and maintain it lovingly and wearing a dastar should be a reminder that this head belongs to Guru ji not us ...
  14. Baba Deep Singh wrote 4 Birs I think, and no ragmala is not a problem ... if it is an original then it would be a facsimile of Guru Gobind SIngh's dictated Saroop and there would be no problems . People need to be awake now, I heard that the stolen manuscripts and Birs, hukhamnamey had been returnedi.e. their whereabouts are known but Badal did not announce this ...if such frauds are being perpetuated then it is clear he is helping them . Can easily arrange forensic evaluation and literary evaluation ... it is not the dark ages .
  15. I'm not saying just grab any old number , but crossreference to actual families with missing people ... I mean three thousand dead in three days of uncontrolled violence in Dehli , and the rapid removal of those bodies left people wondering . That was three days , whereas a decade and half of unmonitored police and army activity could do so much more since they already have the structure to support this activity and the image to hide behind if questioned. We need to support the NGOs which are trying to interview the remaining families and witnesses to get statements recorded .
  16. it's ok I'm not a bloke and I went through serious issues too , and despite my fears I trusted my parents and told them the truth , sure they were hurt but after that they realised just how much I had sacrificed keeping things to myself as opposed to risking my family's future. The sister is unrepentant so going softly softly will only give her more time to manipulate, especially if you approach the Mother , it is unfair to push the Mother into the firing line instead of dealing directly by informing both parents so they can present a united front to their daughter. The brother OP is being ignored by the sister so he needs backup of his folks too, he is unexperienced after all of how to move on .
  17. given that I know that they rounded people by the truckload , this is from my nanake in jagroan district , it was only intervention via my Mama in the army that saved them from death. I can believe that you can pick up 50 odd people at a time that way and given the huge number of villages and lack of paperwork from back then any number is possible . Operation woodrose and all the other sweeps are you forgetting them also ? Emotions are fine when tempered with knowledge ...
  18. currently the exchange rate is 4 reais to 1 pound , the cost there is relatively similar for foods , clothes . There is very diverse landscapes within Brasil , and cultural influences unfortunately they are getting the USA homogenising disease so I would go before they lose their main selling points. Obviously street smarts are vital whereever you go on the planet and Brasil is no different , as for ins and outs nah you don't need a huge amount of help , we did roadtrip using googlemaps for directions , worked fine. pronounciation of Brasilian portguese is different on certain letters but spellings are similar to European e.g. RAPAZ - meaning dude guy is pronounced Rapaz in Portugal but Ha-paz in Brasil -- the R followed by a vowel at the beginning of a word becomes a H so Rosa =Rose becomes Hosa and the family joke is my American step-saura came running when my saas shouted look Louis it's Hockey on TV ...he's turns the corner and is confronted by Sly Stallone instead of Canandians on ice as he was expecting . Ti at the start of a word becomes Chi Di becomes Ji so Princessa Jiana is the pronounciation of Princessa Diana (written down) Brasilians speak in a superanimated way it is comical to watch but gets wearing when it is used all the time , hyperbole is used a lot too.
  19. he has a complex about numbers being high ...how about questioning vadda and chotte ghalughara figures too while you are at it since you don't have an official figure from the government confirming them ? Khalra had the figures for one crematorium out of three in the dist extrapolate across the district , then other districts and cross check against the reports of missing family members and you can easily hit 100,000 over the decade .In delhi the official figure was only 540 odd as opposed to the conservative figure of three thousand that's a miscount of over 550%
  20. no offense but the OP IS 12 ...doh I had Amrit at ten wanted it from age 8.5 , I was rehitvaan solidly during my youth ...it is the best time to have amrit as there are no guarantees of the next breath plus you haven't engaged in any of the major paaps neither likely to accumulate in that age so Bhgati will have better effects. It is best to get on Nanak Naam Jahaz sooner than later , sure understand rehit and also organise your resources for your daily nitnem and life . Your parents are also on their journey but they should not be your main obstacle to sikhi , watch english katha of the banian on Basics of Sikhi and discuss with them , help them see how ready you are .
  21. Bro , your duty as a sikh is to protect your siblings from danger even if it's self-generated , if she is pulling the wool over your family's eyes yu need to let them know the truth . I know parents say things but no one really kills their children if they love them , and I have the feeling that your Father will be shocked but he will handle it better than you think. Your sis may be angry at you but sometimes you have to take the rough to get to the smooth. Be strong , do ardas and do the right things tell your family.Don't prewarn her as she will destroy evidence, catch her on hop.
  22. A true life experience was has by my Masi she did 40 day Paat of Chandi di vaar in her home to counter constant psychic attacks to family members , every time she would sit she would experience attempts at distraction in her empty home , she persisted ek chit, on the 40th day despite the distraction attempts she completed the paat and heard a massive thard sound like a crack of thunder ...after that nothing ever bothered her again. I know what is revealed to us is according to our levels but surely a Sant can give us good advice ? Chandi di vaar is a beautiful energizing bani and there is no doubt of its power .
  23. My hubby is from the neighbouring state Espirito Santo ,and his home town is Vitoria (I found this strange : from a town called Fateh in the state called spirit of the saints). Any way we are located about 600km north of Rio , it is a busy port with loads of beaches and Islands, lagoons and mangroves. The good thing about Brasil is that it is starting to increase support of nature reserves and projects helping wildlife . This time round we took Isher Kaur to a nature reserve to swim in a lagoon , previously when she was two we took her and the boys to a project called Projecto Tamar which incubates turtle eggs and releases them to the wild , also helps injured stranded adults : they got to hand release baby leatherbacks to the ocean. She also visited a coupe of new cousins in Ouro Preto which is a very old colonial town with 13 churches in the hills of Minas Gerais (the streets are very steep in places) views are pretty. When the boys were little we went to another state to the interior Minas Gerais, to Serra de Canastra (a wild preserve) and did a trek up a mesa (table top mountain) enjoyed the pool at the approach to a waterfall and then came back down to the homestead farm we were staying at with traditional wood stove (smells of pind from my memory bank came flooding back) The boys loved it so much there , no phones or internet , nothing they were treated by the elderly couple there to rides on their horses , amritvela was magical , with hummingbirds coming to check me out in the early light . The boys loved the pool so much they went up the mesa a second time just for it , they saw a wild armadillo (Tatu in Portuguese) termite mounds , fire ants , only worry was the dirt roads if it rained hard we could get stuck and getting bitten by snakes (dead before reaching hospital) by forewarned is forearmed. Sao paulo is a massive city much more cosmopolitan due to large asian population, it has a gurdwara Plans are to do the Pantanal sometime but it is very time dependant ...
