  1. I know what you are saying in macho macho punjabiyat culture it's always the women at fault ...but if you are taking the Sikh viewpoint i.e. energetics and Karams you would see that when we have the blessing of a daughter we should take it as a deeper sewa since she will be the spring of future generations of Gursikhs or nastiks depending on our treatment of her and our teachings of sikhi, exposure to bani etc.
  2. look at Bibi Bhani if she wasn't who she was it could be argued that Maybe we would not have our illustrious history of shaheedi ...that the house of Sodi Patshah would be different ...remember it was her wish for her descendants become the shaheeds of the panth. She must have been so blessed to be surrounded by Guru Sahiban in all the generations. Mata Tripta Devi ji was not a non-descript person but a person of bhagti , Mata Gujar Kaur ji even Akal Purakh said she was his bhagat ...
  3. It's a question that my boys have asked me (deep deep thinkers asked about their deaths at 4) and on an instinctual level I said to them yes you'd be my children but you would look different and perhaps manifest slightly different behaviours (meme theory)
  4. Given the number of kathavachaks who have said that there are not enough high avasta mothers to give birth to those enlightened souls who want to return to do sewa ...I believe that the mother attracts the type of level kids she has ... think about the mothers of all the bhagats , mahan gursikhs even Guru Sahiban ...She is the portal between worlds ...
  5. It is more serious than just one or two words messed up, there are loads of mistranslation done on purpose to create a case for Yoga as part of sikhi I have noted in sangat weird /wrong translations which will mislead our children and newcomers from non-punjabi/desi background. Someone needs to sit and go through this. Not Surprisingly enough this is one translation that was signed off without double checking by SGPC or other bodies. I have heard that the german translation is totally awful....we need to give this our full attention since we know the 'leaders' are more worried about maya than Guru ji's message being spread.
  6. gurmukh jeevan is the punjabi title if you look lower it is called 'Discovering true happiness ' This the English translation of gurmukh jeevan by Bhai Lehna SIngh ji. I had a little shopping spree and bought english translations for the boys Chardi Kala is called Ascending Spirits Ramzi kahanian is called Mystical Tales Bandiginma is same title just subtitled in english communion with the divine Simran Mahima is called Celestial joys of simran Sarab rog ka aukad naam is called The name Divine- a pancea for all ills Ardas shakti is called the power of prayer I love this store they have so many jewels of knowledge on their shelves and at nominal price
  7. if I remember Guru ji frowned on it in bani as there are people who do sadhu lifestyle and hang around shamshan ghat to remind them of mortality but their swaad ras tempts them to eat flesh cooked on the pyre ...remember watching them in action on a BBC doc a while back...yep I agree all maas is the same but without naam it is all koord
  8. yep I was thinking the only way you could do jhatka of a fish is ...arrow? spear? then I said it is not possible to guarantee jhatka in that case ....besides I look at them and think of gurbani tuks ...
  9. www.sewastore.com they do all his books in Punjabi and many english translations , they even have Sardar ji 's book Gurmukh jeevan
  10. Been to Kangra Fort that was a main Jain fort: true it fell to siege, because Hindu's were relying on mantars I guess by this time . The next protector was Maharaja Ranjit Singh
  11. please stop , Guru Vishistha proclaimed that the death occurred because somewhere a shudra must be doing tap, not evil (that is your colouring). Dharmic belief is that the punishment of one sin used fall upon different groups of people dependent on the yug , in kalyug we face our own dand from our own sins. REALLY slow down and VICHAR Japji Sahib
  12. no twist , just looked at more than three translations of that story from different sources and they are say one sentence , to gain devlok , devlok pauna ...I could say mainu sachkhand darshan pauna chaundi ha ...would I be doing 'black magic' by requesting same in ardas? . Galti ardas or paat di or my chotti mat thinking wanting will mean getting? Think deeper please ... He was not versed in dharam/adharam just had a desire ...so who was being unfair those with knowledge or him for trying to gain something through desire and mantar simran/tap Definition of tapsaya: http://www.wisdomlib.org/definition/tapasya/index.html
  13. what gundi nazar ? I want all people of this age to be free to visit their places of worship and to pray when and where they like after all saas saas simaro gobind , mitti paap jappia har bind.
  14. Shambuka said he was doing bhagti to gain entry into Devlok, consider that is a realm they consider pavitar like 'heaven' ...ros was on how he could dare to try to gain entry . Bhagat Naam dev wanted entry to mandir but the brahmins refused so he stood on the opposite end of the temple and the mandir span around to face him . Would you consider him wrong too to go to mandir as others on their path do ? Sangat is important and any downs to going public is negated by the power of the ikagar cheet of the premis in akal purakh's lap. I think perhaps you worry too much about outside people and not enough about the exchange of blessing when we join sangat, we become anonymous in the crowd too .
  15. do worry veera there's enough love to go around much like Naam ...kahvo karcho raal mil bhai , tot nav ave vaddo jai
  16. swaas grass simran because we are only 'Hum aadmi haan ik daami' people of one breath...no guarantees of the next...
  17. Vicharana is also a form of meditation for Sikhs , a vital one to do daily. Writing gurbani is a form of simran meditation as we read, recite and vicharana all in one - so powerful. Simran is loving remembrance whether bani or mantar. Kirtan is the activation of naad Guru and loving Simran. All I can say is the tools we have been given are so so powerful ...Wahe Wahe Waheguru jio
  18. I'll explain nindiya to you ...Nindiya is to spread untruths, curse or exaggerate the behaviours of people or creeds... The story of Shambuka the shudra is contained in the Ramayana , which many Hindus follow for guidance if they read this story what do they gain ? an excuse to exclude shudra's from bhagti . for balance I would like to say that not all people believe it is true . The story of Shambuka is in the last book of Ramayana known as Uttarakanda. Historians have surmised that portions of two Kaandas, namely Book I, Bala Kaanda and Book VII, Uttara Kaanda are later additions - "The first and the last Books of the Ramayana are later additions. .... The reference to the Greeks, Parthians, and Sakas show that these Books cannot be earlier than the second century B.C......" Ref: The cultural Heritage of India, Vol. IV, The Religions, The Ramakrishna Mission, Institute of Culture. Most people doubt that the Shambuka story is part of the Valmiki Ramayana. Given that there is doubt of authenticity it should be disregarded and in my view Shudras should be allowed to do as much bhagti as they want . and according to hindupad.com the Guru Vashista has said that in KALYUG Shudras are ALLOWED to do tapaysa and bhagti so Hindus are sinning by stopping them and killing them http://hindupad.com/story-of-shambuka-vadha-by-rama-rama-killing-shambuka/ Perhaps you have forgotten your sikhi , Guru Teg Bahadur gave his Sees to protect human rights of doing bhagti Guru Nanak Dev ji spoke against murder and conversions also, it is OUR duty to speak up against injustice as we are ALL part of Guru Khalsa panth...by your logic no-one should do anything for anyone else as they will eventually get there ....so selfish, so unthinking
  19. I really respect Cynthia , she deserves all our support ... Speaking out despite being gangraped, legs broken and stabbed - she is a daughter of Guru ji whether she knows or not.
  20. putins speech at UN general assembly, I watched it and he didn't strike me as unhinged or extreme, maybe sardonic this is from a year back his position and analysis then:
  21. I dunno the US trip was a political disaster for MODI as he thought he was just going to waltz into the UNsecurity council , the yanks and brits pulled a switcheroo on him once the in dried on their trade deals . And after the UK trip having spent hundreds of thousands of pounds trying to smooze with British aristos and business only to find people telling him to take his fascist viewpoints and stick them where the sun don't shine ...he will be roasted alive by all and sundry.
  22. Ram Chandar chopped off the head of a shudar who was doing bhagti on his own because supposedly he was committing a paap for which the son of a brahmin died . Such a story is held up as an example in those circles , and it is written if an untouchable should hear religious discourse/kirtan even by accident he should have hot lead poured in his/her ears as way of punishment ...with such adharamic , violent reactions who would want to stay in that dharam ?
  23. ditto but to hear some people speak about Sikhi they think only desi are capable of being true to Guru ji
  24. with Mums like Jugraj's voti who really is losing out ? those who don't end up with sikh children
  25. who wants to be killed just for wanting to do bhagti ? You can't be born a sikh ...that is your galat fami ...you have to give your head and heart to Guru ji and follow what he says , take amrit ...(before someone says it all the Gurus were made sikhs this way Including Guru Nanak Dev ji).
