  1. jud pias laggi hai, apna farz gian/itihaas piloni hai until they catch up Gurmukhi reading levels to understand detailed tracts I wanted to help them keep wanting more . Of course I would be remiss to not get them to that level of gurmaukhi (my personal dream would be to see all four go through Gurcharani Lagana)
  2. are there translations of the last two ? I know Ganda Singh was a historian my Dad and Dadaji used to rate highly ,Bhai Vir Singh ji I have located translation pdfs and have originals at home. Is Pandit Narain Singh also known as Narain Das on some older volumes I seem to recognise that name?
  3. Thank you Veer ji for posting links been reading slowly past day and half to absorb 'everything' would like pointers to trustworthy volumes and historians in English for my young'uns could you and sangat give me an idea they are teenagers so nothing too childish (like my old volume set from seventies , I can use that with Isher Kaur) Thank you once again.
  4. Somehow I've been drawn to bani that is bairaagmai since child , used read my Guru Teg Bahadur ji Bani Pothi often back then . Maybe when we get older we start analysing too much and the spell gets broken and doubts come in I know it did for me, Mahapurakh ka bachan is tera veer will be gursikh but I got impatient after 15 years praying and waiting ... now I learnt not to question, just trust only. Sanjog is there with Guru , but on Guru's timetable not mine.
  5. Have they actually announce a physical location in ilford yet ?
  6. I know kirpa is on me still but I get so full of bairaag, thinking of when could that day come....
  7. How does sangat feel about Mcleod's writings because towards the end of his life I remember hearing negative things about what he had written about Khalsa and Sikhi ? I'm guessing this translation is earlier good works ?
  8. Living rehitvaan jiwan doing sewa of gursikh children, waiting on partner to have amrit together...want to do it properly not keep going back and doing pesh ...had amrit with kids I didn't want my kids to suffer without a Guru (expecting daughter at time) and followed instruction to live as sister/bro relationship but did not go back for pesh after daughter as want to have amrit as couple. Pray from heart every day that special day will come. Please do Ardas for your veer that he becomes Guruwale properly.
  9. Maharaja Ranjit singh has no descendants at all , who do you suppose should get kohinoor Lahore treasury managed by Pakistan, which has Maharaja Ranjit Singh's things or SGPC who are currently selling off Gurdwara land and pocketing the proceeds while putting other dharmic real estate under mortage to govt or Indian Government ...? My Dad said something which at the time he said it (84) made sense 'it is a good thing that Guru's ji weapons are here,Waheguru ji made sure they are here in safety' this was the day we saw pictures of the smoke billowing out of the Sikh reference Library.
  10. Bhai Gurbaksh Singh knows these guys of the SGPC and Dal very very well they interfered with his last strike and again tried to do the same this time . He has every right to question why Jathedar has not created a chetna to world sangat to get behind the demand for the release of our Brothers who have done their time, everyone has that right as a part of the Kaum. I cannot speak for the paise/fame hungry, if you are only visiting because of your wallet then that says a lot about what importance you hold your suffering Sikh brothers and sisters and just how much lack you have in the basic level of courage, compassion and love for truth. As for those in far away lands look at the kamai, rehit and jiwani of a gursikh before giving any kind of special treatment. Sikhi has become an exercise in eyewashing for the masses, it needs to crack down hard on surplus expenditure on building projects and invest in the calibre of SIkhs, creating future millions of well-educated Gursikhs in all fields of endeavour.
  11. This guy very beautifully captured the situation in Pakistan but there are a lot of salient points for us although we as a kaum have not been totally unproductive in the education, sciences etc 1. don't rely on the great deeds of the ancestors to bolster our current image, use it as fuel for finding chinks and weaknesses in our character and rehit and make new missals of greatness in the current time for the kaum. 2. Remember he who conquers rewrites the history or obliterates the evidence of the conquered's greatness... watch your back and protect your dharmic asthaans, ithihaas... follow the old ways learn as much bani as you can , do vichar , share don't lose it 3. Anyone who blindly ignores the rotten apples in the kaum barrel is just as culpable , maybe even more so than those panth dokhis 4. anyone who says nothing is wrong with us so why change....needs to be dragged to the nearest trustworthy history books and rehitnamey and educated as to what a sikh should be 5. why did we allow the dhils in terminology if you not rehitvaan, monay and eat maas, drink alcohol etc you are not SEHAJDHARI....SEHAJDHARI is one who has kept his kesh and doing bani and leaving all the gandh behind to become khalsa...if you have no intention to then you can't claim it, simple. 6. We need to reinstate dastars for all amritdhari at akal takht this is the correct rehit , the time for the temporary relaxation is over it didn't work.
  12. From what I know of history there was never a jathedar only until 20th century and SGPC raj ....up until 1920s/30s SARBAT KHALSA was called and punj piarey would issue hukamnama to panth. I would agree to that only once we found the wolves in sheep's clothing and did their sodha as prescribed in Bhai Chaupa Singh rehitnama under the section describing what is to come .
  13. The SPGC has changed a lot of things in the three decades since they allowed the enemy into the heart of our kaum's affairs; we have lost touch with historical precedents and the true operational might of the khalsa because we blindly trusted them to do right. that is our fault, we as a kaum never thought 'hold on these scum are alive though thousands died in 84, they allowed the govt to destroy and loot the reference library how??' obviously an administration who is baying for all sikhs blood should be uniformly against all sikhs in that situation not sparing the handful ...those are the collaborators and do not deserve to live since they abandoned their duty to the kaum at its hour of need.
  14. maybe Veer ji , it's a sad indication that question has most ordinary Sikhs stymied ...we can see how they were selected in the past by merit, kamai and character. but these days the qualities are non-exsistent no zameer, no daleri, little kamai, just a puppet yes man. i feel likr crying thinking on it...how far we have fallen
  15. yes it occurs, and losers practice it but i felt it was a big leap from so little info about the guy ... I agree gurbani it the weapon against such attacks , been through it and used bani to fight an active attack I have full faith in bani, in my Guru Guru saved my family many times so I hold nothing stronger
  16. Sat was hinting at jadoo tunney silly really.... Just keep doing your thing paat simran, what ever is meant to be will be, mahapurakh say that we usually have families /friends who have had ristey with us in previous janams and unfinished business, don't stress, just ask for Guru ji's help when you feel unsettled
  17. Hi, could you be specific about which Gurdwara it was ? Of course if you were under the influence of drugs or alcohol or smoking at the time no matter whether you are homeless or not the Gurdwara will not let you in . It is after all the rules for the whole congregation and we don't allow those activities in respect of our Guru , Guru Granth Sahib ji. You should not be barred for colour or religion/non-religion.
  18. why ? can someone not be 'gifted' from the right source but not know what it indicates i.e. Do Bhagti? Don't always look for the dark ...
  19. I remember reading a horrifying story recently about how a boy was beaten and his arm broken by teacher in Punjab for having the gall to say Fateh to the Sikh Teacher, that same k@@jer handed him into head's office instead quicklt doing fateh and warning the boy that he would get in trouble from school authorities (sorry for the colourful language but anyone with that level of berehimi deserves it). Punjabi is OUR language and we ALL must fight to save it, and develop love for it, reprint all the poetry, dharmic pustaks of old, our history from purantaan sikhs before our descendents lose all touch with their true roots.
  20. Congress supported Singhalese government so that's why maybe he doesn't like to be too vocal in anti-congress talk , but like any normal human you cannot ignore the truth.
  21. He is Sri Lankan and during the eighties they had the displeasure of Indian army on their heads too , raping torturing murdering etc etc. after the atrocities were committed they sent our lads into those places to catch the backlash from tamil tigers . I know because I was 17 and at my first job and got surrounded by my fellow female workers majority Tamil and they laid into me about what was happening there, many tears were shed by those who didn't know what was happening to their families. I explained to them the government was doing that to us in Punjab as well and that they are sending our boys to get killed by angry Tamils after they had their fun. They understood and we had major dialogues about how The Indian Government was the enemy of the people and what was going on in Punjab. Maybe he was misinformed about our lads too and has a secret grudge, you never know until you ask ...Daya first not all is black and white especially with congress
  22. When he covered Langar week he was constantly saying maybe you should restrict langar cos it's not fair on sangat to pay for feeding non-sikhs who have started coming .... my feeling he can't help himself he is thinking from a maya level and playing devil's advocate to put masala for listeners . Nihal is young and stupid for uttering such nonsense , simply need to put him straight about what he said and leave it at that.
  23. it's ok remember picchle karam da asar is only for a short while eventually it will be used up .. we get sent to the mother who matches our level so maybe his Mum was good and full of viswas/bhagti and only now he is older the effect is lessening and maya is increasing(never meant that he is a bad person just gave extreme examples because that's what puzzles people if they are so bad how comes they were in power/so rich/have powers etc God's unfair) yep you will feel/know these things in time but by then you will be ready Waheguru will prepare you don't worry, ohni kirpa jinna chahida at that moment, sometimes that deja vu feeling will be very very often and deep level just do your naam jap, and pray for sabar during this test.
  24. Thing is we come into this world with pichhle karam da phal , that's why the 'bad' people seem to have all the luck and wealth, they had inheirited good phal from previous paat puja in other janams but they waste it in ignorance in this life by getting caught up in maya instead of building on good foundations built previously and do more bhagti in this life and hit the mission target. we will be shown stuff which we know we can't explain just look, listen, smile and let it go like watching the scenery passing the train window. Thank Waheguru but say no thank you daya karo mennu agai lehjo Satgura.
