  1. If the moghul needed water, and wasn't going to kill bhai kanehiya yeah he would. Would guru gobind singh disrespect gay people? EDIT: just read above post, nvm
  2. Everyone is equal in Sikhism, not just people you agree with. I do agree w/ Rehat Maryda in that homosexuals can't get Anand Karaj in Gurdwara, but I don't think they should be insulted.
  3. Domestic violence and murder are conscious choices. Homosexuality isn't a choice. And yeah I try to have compassion and respect for everyone. It's not my job to judge people. I'm assuming y'all re familiar with Bhai Kanhiya's story.... The whole idea is that a Sikh should help and have respect even for enemies.
  4. I've managed a forum as admin before , and while I've only used bbpress and SMF (I think this forum uses IP boards ), I couldn't see previous versions of posts after they were edited. Personally, I normally try to include what I put in my edits, so there isn't any confusion.
  5. Remember, Vaheguru is in everyone. If someone is gay, that means Vaheguru made them that way. Who are you to question Him?
  6. My prayers go out to these poor souls for both getting castrated and the company they keep...
  7. You've probably read this before, but IIRC, Guru Gobind Singh once wrote something along the lines of "my father (guru teg bahadur) told me " love your wife as much as you want, but do not enter another woman's bed, even in your dreams"" So I suppose sexual attraction is OK between married people, but as someone mentioned above, if you're just checking out random people on the street, that's considered sinful. Sorry about any typing errors, on mobile ATM. Edit: will try to link to above quote when I'm on my computer
  8. Never understood how good deeds are "given to us", and bad deeds are all our fault, but we are still judged by Vaheguru? Seems like all we can do is bad deeds? Some please help me understand- I'm super confused.
  9. Yeah, he's either a troll or just someone who doesn't care much for Sikhism. I think my point still stands. Our Gurus taught us compassion and love for everyone, regardless of their views, even if they were enemies. During the period of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, there was a Singh named Bhai Kanhaiya Ji. During one of Guru Ji's battles, he gave water to everyone who was wounded, regardless of whether or no they were enemies. When the other Singhs saw this, they were enraged. When they complained to Guru Ji, he responed that Kanhaiya had understood the message of kindness and compassion perfectly. We gotta be kind to everyone, man. A cool (related) post you might find interesting can be found here https://benlehman.wordpress.com/2012/02/24/compassion-for-evil/
  10. I know what he said. I don"t agree at all. To the best of my knowledge, it's not within my understanding of Sikhism. But that is no reason to call him a shameless creature. This is, after all, a discussion forum, and there can be no discussion if people continue to disrespect and harass those who are intolerent of others' opinions.
  11. How can you have compassion and love for someone and then continue to slander and call them derogatory names? He was just stating his opinion and experience; you're the one insulting him.
  12. I think his views are his and he is entitled to compassion regardless of what they are. Additionally, hsingh68 was simply expressing his admiration of Vaheguru in that post, albeit in a rather insensitive and largely disrespectful manner. Finally, how do you know he is Hindu? I don't think that you get to define who is a Sikh and who isn't. I'm not a fan of hsingh68, but he seems to be a human being (mostly Sikh) and one who clearly cares about Sikhism. I"ll look into it more, though. Perhaps you're right about him...
  13. Ironic, considering a key tenet of your religion (sikhism?) is love and compassion for all human beings.
  14. Can you be respectful of all human beings? He has the right to both any religion and expressing any opinion. His name is hsingh68, not hindu jatt 1968. To the best of my knowledge there is no "troll society" Also, you might want to stop slandering people with a different view than yours, veer ji.
  15. I get the sentiment, yeah Vaheguru is pretty cool, but please, try to have some respect
  16. Why are people on this forum a) so convinced that they are the only people following true sikhi and b) so unchanging and not accepting of the views of others? Just a general observation from lurking for a few months...
  17. I don't think you need to beg for Amrit, most gurdwaras just have like a signup sheet, I think
