  1. alot of steps have been taken to make a single maryada, look at what i have listed in the first post. the sant samaj have all agreed to one so it shouldn't be difficult
  2. Khalsa Ji, i was talking about his sons, they started a business and it became successful. you can read Maskeen Ji's biography he spent most of his life in poverty, i believe when he died he only had one or two things, he left behind. the stuff about his family i read it awhile ago so like i said above i dont know if its true forgive me bhul chuk muf
  3. we kind of have gotten off the topic in the last few posts. first of all we don't have any stastics that younger kids are not watching sikh tv, we are just assuming this. the best way to find out what kids want to watch on sikh tv is to ask them. maybe the sikh channels can get a small group of kids and ask them. you mention, " The problem right now is that mega rich old men with no actual spiritual substance mega rich old men with no actual spiritual substance (most of whom got rich through immoral means) " Sorry Khalsa ji i have no way of knowing that. you mentioned " But you guys are suggesting we replace them with different old and very rich men" no Khalsa Ji i was not suggesting that, what i was trying to say was maskeen ji, dhadrian wale, giani thakur singh and sant waryam singh ji's katha are all free, they have made it freely available to everyone on the internet, they even said to use there kathas on tv channels for free. they dont make any money when it airs on tv. what i said was the sikh tv channels should let these people know they will be airing there kathas on tv.
  4. Almost all our debates or discussions revolve around many things which are written in the rehat maryada. After a debate and discussion everybody goes back to there previously held position and no one wants to change there view, even with evidence. this is because everyone is attached to a jethabandi and what ever is the view of there jetha, thats there view and no one will change from that. Different groups ie nihangs, nanaksar, akj, taksal, sants, baba, samprada ect. have there own maryada. to unify the panth it would be great if all groups put there own maryadas down and come up with one that everyone can agree and follow. the sgpc did a good job of trying to do this and came up with one alot of people agree with, but some groups did not agree, for a maryada to be followed by whole panth everyone must agree. many steps have been taken in the past to amend the maryada so the whole panth is on one page. for instance jethadar ranjit singh had a plan to gather all jathas and samprada in darbar sahib and lock them in a room and food will be provided to them. they would not leave until everyone agreed with one maryada. the plan fell through because the dharam yudh morcha was launched and everyones energy and attention went to that. also the sant samaj got together about the maryada issue they took the akal thakhat maryada and wrote some points where they believed needed to be added and elaborated they came up with a rough draft. all the sant samaj read it and signed there name saying they agreed with it. some of the deras who were part of the sant samaj practiced anti gurmat activities at there deras. once they signed the sant samaj rough draft they got rid of those practices baba hari singh randawa met with jethadhar gurcharan singh tohra and give him the rough draft. jethedhar sahib read it and said this rough draft is almost the same as the current maryada, it shouldnt be difficult to make one maryada. jathadhar said this is the first task i will do, but sadly he passed away shortly all sampradas should work to update the current maryada so panth can be united. all groups should lay aside there difference and work toward having one maryada everyone agrees with. after everyone agrees to the maryada all sampradas and sants should sign there name and video tape the event so no person can back out or reject the maryada later on. we should tell the jathedars and samprada heads that we want a united maryada, lets make this a movement so differences can be eliminated from the panth
  5. I dont think the channel even needs to buy the rights to Maskeen Ji's vids and kathas. i remember hearing that Maskeen Ji's family is rich, dont know if its true. his cds have been selling really good for years. i bet his family would love to have Maskeen Ji on tv if someone asks them. i have seen Maskeen Ji's katha on other tv channels. Also i remember baba ranjit singh dhadrian wala told a tv station that they can air any of his diwans on there show. he has thousands of them also sant baba waryam singh has thousands of diwans i bet they can air those for free, if they ask. also the tv channel should air the 'basics of sikhi' videos for a english section of there program. im sure bhai jugraj singh doesnt mind also they can carry his live katha. also giani thakur singh has done entire katha of guru granth sahib ji in simple punjabi, they should put the gurmukhi on screen so people can follow along. that should fill in alot if time there are other people who have alot of kathas that tv channels can use but the channels have to ask to use them or we should email or call them with the ideas
  6. recently there was another topic on this forum called ' Sikh Farmers Finding Success In Tamil Nadu' http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/77743-sikh-farmers-finding-success-in-tamil-nadu/ alot of farmers are going to tamil nadu to farm cheap land. tamil nadu is very far from punjab but madhya pradesh is close and alot of migrants come from there. wouldn't it be better if these sikh farmers going to farm in tamil nadu bought land in madhya pradesh instead, it would help the local economy and its not far from punjab. also all these new sikh converts recieve alot of abuse from the locals and cant find a job because they have become sikhs. these new farmers can hire them. it would solve alot of problems if they farmed in madhya pradesh.
  7. here is another story SIKHI PARCHAR GOING STRONG IN MADHYA PRADESH, HUNDREDS BECOMING SIKH, AND YOU CAN HELP Gurmat Parchaar will be an ongoing project but the location focus will change every year or two. Currently we are focusing on the village Mathana and neighboring villages in Madhya Pradesh where around 400 new people have came to Sikhi and need help in understanding basics and guidance to continue learning on this path. Once they are trained in organizing basic duties as a Sikh including reading Gurbani, Seva, Keertan, Langar etc hopefully by next year, we will go to other remote villages in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan etc. The next village coming up is Dhangar in Madhya Pradesh where with initial prachaar 25 people took Amrit and are interested in helping with Parchaar in their village. 8. DALIT TURNED SIKH FORMS MINI PUNJAB IN BIHAR AFTER FACING REJECTION IN PUNJAB More than 300 kilometers from Patna, capital of Bihar Dalit settled villages are adopting Sikhi in large numbers. The special districts of Nyanagr, Khwaspur, Prmanandpur, Manikpur and Mjltta Dalit village nearly 200 men and women who have embraced Sikhism. In particular in Hilhai village there is a Gurdwara Sahib called Takht Sri Akal where hundred gather every weekend. Narendra Singh saw it all happen in front of his eyes. He lived for ten years in Punjab stricken with poverty and racial discrimination and he wasnt accepted by the Khalsa Panth in Punjab. He than returned to his village and spread what he learned about the Sikh faith in Bihar. To his surprise, the locals accepted the faith introduced to them in the 80s and now they have carried it through to the third generation. A Dalit turned Sikh from Katana Sahib Punjab, Khanna worked here for 35 years and said after he accepted the faith, he was opposed by the locals in Punjab and moved to Bihar. equal status Parmod Singh says, People doubted as first and opposed us but we embraced Sikhi. Another Dalit turned Sikh Sanjay Singh says, Sikhi stands for equality and is practiced daily with everyone eating together and on the same level. http://dailysikhupdates.com/dalit-turned-sikh-forms-mini-punjab-in-bihar-after-facing-rejection-in-punjab/

  10. if someone has the complete story in writing or katha of it or knows what granth its from please post this is what i remember dont know if its 100% right. basically this is how the story goes one day a bharman came to visit Guru Sahib Ji, he was told he first need to do pangat before sangat. so he went and started eating his langer. He overheard some Gurmukhs talking to each other. One Gurmukh said that when he closes his eyes after a while he is in sach khand. Another Gurmukh said it takes you that long for you to be in sach khand. i only have to close my eyes and im in sach khand. the bhramin was amazed, he went to Guru Sahib Ji and complained about these Sikhs because he thought they were not being truthful.

  12. CHARGES FILED AFTER GURDWARA DEMOLISHED OVERNIGHT IN PATHANKOT 4 men were arrested and charges filed against them after locals complained against the demolition of a Gurdwara Sahib in Pathankot by officials from a school adjoined to the Gurdwara Sahib. The matter is of the school claiming the land of the Gurdwara Sahib and demolishing it to gain control of the land. The locals demanded the men be paraded from the DSPs office to Division jail after filing charges. However the police refused and the locals sat in protest outside the DSPs office. Also arriving at the scene were Satkaar Committees Bhai Sukhjit Singh Khosa, Bhai Balbir Singh Muchal and Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala. When Akali Minister Sucha Singh Langah arrived he made comments against the Satkaar Committee referring to them as the Shararti Committee, to which the locals raised slogans against the Akali Dal and CM Badal. http://dailysikhupdates.com/charges-filed-after-gurdwara-demolished-overnight-in-pathankot/

  15. i dont understand why do people keep on electing these kinds of sgpc members. sgpc members should be paid little or nothing there work is suppose to be sewa. The best thing for the sangat to do is to stop giving them money and use that money to buy sikhi books or cds and give them away free. you dont need to have a expensive akhand path at darbar sahib you can do it at your local gurdwara or buy tons of Gurmat related items like cds, books, kakkars etc and give it to sangat. selection or election system it doesnt matter, its the mentality of the people that matters. if we look at the selection system of the sants, dera, are they doing any better. There riding around in there expensive cars like the sgpc. when was the last time we asked a sant where all the money goes that is donated to the dera and the desvand the dera gets. also ask them what happens to the money they collect from the sangat. nope we wont ask them but its perfectly fine to bash the sgpc. what im trying to say is for the most part there both the same. the people who dont get any benefit from the fighting is the SANGAT. The Sangat needs to wake up and donate there money wisely bul chuk maf
  16. being a cynic for a minute. Even if Akal Takht became independent i doubt anything major will happen because its not totally the government that is bringing the panth down its our own people too. Think about it why are all the takht jethedars and granthis have their mouth shut and wont expose that the government is controling them? Doesn't one of them have a conscious to stand up and say the government is controlling and telling us what to do, why can't one granthi or jathedar risk his job to alert and raise this issue to the whole panth. Also why aren't these jethedars defying badals orders and being more panthic, wouldn't the whole panth stand up for the jethedar and support him if he goes against government and badal but nope they remain quiet Also what about all the deras, jathas, dals and sants who are not controlled by badal why arent they standing up and fighting to make a independent Akal Takht. Here is a list of some organizations with major resources and following that badal cant easily suppress 100s of Sants from Nanaksar Damdami Taksal has major following Nihang Singh has many dals and its a fauj Akhand Kirtani Jatha has major following Sant Samaj has 100s of Sants in the group kar sewa wale thousands of deras with power ect all these group cant be all controlled by badal why dont they free Akal Takht and do the job Akal Takht is not doing

  18. The siropa system needs to be stopped, these kind of people have made it meaning less. anyone can give money and get one. in purtan days someone got one after a life time of service, now you dont need to be a sikh to get one. Darbar Sahib doesnt need to give siropa, no one should be given special treatment.
  19. SRI HARMANDAR SAHIB HEAD GRANTHI WANTS TO GIVE MASSA RANGAR SIROPA Head Granthi of Sri Harmandar Sahib was questioned for why he gave Indian PM Modi a Siropa. The Head Granthi responded by saying “I will even give Massa Rangar Siropa.” The outrageous comment by the granthi to give Massa Rangar a siropa isn’t being taken lightly on social media. Many are calling an immediate resignation of the Head Granthi The Granthi tried to avoid the questions and headed towards his vehicle but the Singh refused to back down and continued to ask his questions. The Granthi stated, “It’s an SGPC issue go and question them.” However, the Singh answered back by saying, “But you are equally responsible as you were the one to put the siropa over him.” http://dailysikhupdates.com/sri-harmandar-sahib-head-granthi-wants-to-give-massa-rangar-siropa/
  20. Someone once wrote their personal experience with ridhi sidhis, i think it was on this forum. i cant recall it exactly how he wrote it but i will write what i remember the singh was a great naam abyasi, did a crazy amount of simran. he wrote one day at school as he was talking to people, suddenly he knew what they were going to say. He could read there mind. he told this to his friends and they didn't believe him, so he demonstrated his power to them and they were convinced that he had the powers. Couple more people found out and after demonstrating his power his fame grew in the school. soon loads of people were after him, his ego begain to kick in. one day more people came to him to see if its true he had these powers. he was going to show them his power but when he tryed nothing happened and the people started saying he was lying. soon the crowds left him and he was left alone with his super ego. he tryed to gain the powers back but to no avail this is what i remembered he wrote. i dont know if i remembered it exactly , maybe someone can find the story. it might have been under gupt section

  25. Here is a old article from 2013, of course punjabis already have been there along time WE CALL OURSELVES TAMILIAN PUNJABIS Chennai, india: They may have nothing in common with people here, but most of the 300- odd Sikh families that reside in Chennai identify themselves with the local culture. “I can speak Tamil very fluently and know a smattering of Malayalam as well. So I am both an Iyer Punjabi and Menon Punjabi,” jokes Balbir Singh Lota, general secretary of Sri Guru Nanak Sat Sangh Sabha. Established in the year 1949, the Sabha is a centre for social, religious and spiritual activities and is also a common point for the Sikh families in Chennai to converge during special occasions and festivals. There is possibly no official record of when the first Sikhs arrived in Chennai, but, it is believed that the migration has been consistent— before partition, during partition and post-partition. However, there is a name to reckon with, when we talk about the history of Sikh and Punjabi families, in this city. Colonel Gurudeep Gill, the then Inspector-General of Prisons was among the earlier settlers and helped many who reached the city during the difficult period of partition to start from scratch. Gurnam Singh, whose family hails from Lyallpur, Pakistan and has been a resident of Chennai for several decades, says, “There was even talk of making Gill Nagar a locality for Sikhs and Punjabis, but that never came through.” However, Singh is quick to add that his community now knows the distinction. “We have made the city our home and that is why we never needed just one locality for ourselves,” he says. Involved in most vocations ranging from real estate, automobile spare parts to catering and hospitality services, Sikhs in Chennai have, over the years, made their presence felt in every sphere. Lota, whose roots lie in Nawanshahr, Punjab, reminisces, “My father came to Chennai in the fifties. I wasn’t born here, but having imbibed the local culture with our traditions, the city is my home.” In chaste Tamil, Lota display his language skills and adds, “We were essentially known for our vocations. My father used to make radio cabinets and his shop was called Balbir Cabinets named after me. Then with the advent of TV, he switched to making TV cabinets.” Kamaljeet Singh another long-time resident of Chennai reveals another interesting piece of history. “You can track the migration of Punjabis and Sikhs during two partitions that happened— partition of India and Burma. Many traders from our community were settled in Burma, but after the partition they migrated to many places from the East, settling down in various States like Bengal, Assam and later in Tamil Nadu,” he adds. Kamaljeet Singh summarises what it means to be a Tamilan Punjabi, “My daughter today is in a prominent position in a Tamil channel. We have received a lot from the city and in return we have done our bit for the city,” he says. Source: Indian Express News http://sikhsangat.org/2013/we-call-ourselves-tamilian-punjabis/
