  1. He was born a Muslim I believe. He did Nimaaz etc as well, but the more he read his scriptures the more he realized where the flaws were. Eventually he considered himself neither a muslim or a hindu. This is apparent in many of his bani as well as his history. So if we're going to figurative then he took the path of god. That's why his bani was added to our Gurbani, even though the Japji sahib, Guru Granth Sahib were all written (physically by our Guru Sahib) much later. This is as far as I know from History. Obviously if someone who knows more has something else to add, there free to correct me if I have made a mistake.
  2. Indeed, the true Amrit is the lord's name.
  3. hardly lol. You claim he's not a sikh and he's getting too defensive about it. I'm sure you would have a similar response if it had been you
  4. I've been having some interesting discussions with him in PM. I've not found anything remotely anti-sikh in them.
  5. check the icon where you reserved it. It should say upgrade now I believe. I have it there and i intend to do it tonight before i sleep.
  6. But Panthiestic don't really accept the concept of a god that's beyond the universe. It's more the universe is god and that's it. Nothing wrong it :D If you want I can start now. True, Very true. But what my point was Guru Nanak not only experienced Waheguru but Waheguru assigned him the task of starting our faith. He also gave him Japji Sahib. In his autobiography Guru Gobind Singh Ji even mentions how Waheguru sent him down to extinguish evil. That;s why I believe Waheguru isn't just a force, but a conscious one.Obviously this is me being very simplistic, he's beyond words and I do apologize to waheguru for trying to describe him. Depends how you look at it. Waheguru has limitless forms. Creator, destroyer, sustainer, father, mother. I believe experiencing Waheguru is just the beginning. I may be wrong of course. Completely true. Might I turn your attention to a theory that the universe is a living being? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it. also true. Many sikhs believe that the Spiritual realms described in Japji sahib are more like steps. But there is a school of thought that suggests they are actual physical realms as well. Obviously Waheguru is everywhere but at the same time are we really inclined to say what he can't and can do. My own interpretation of that was more like Sach Khand is the heart. Again not saying Waheguru has a heart but like sach Khand is that region where one's duality is abandoned completely and they merge with the lord. As a result that region is where Waheguru "resides" in a sense. If that makes sense. everything is within his Hukham, no one is outside of it :0 agree there completely.
  7. It's the third names that's the problem I can perceive. I don't know if Guru Sahib allowed us to keep them or not, but I've always felt that adding a third name after Singh is sort of in a way building and dividing the Khalsa. The Singh and Kaur made us seem like a massive family, the addition of a third name makes me feel like we're purposely dividing ourselves even while within the Khalsa.
  8. Panthestic belief is that the Universe with all it's laws, structures, being is god and the concept of a God as in the one who creates, destroys, sustains, communicates is redundant. It's mentioned countless times that Waheguru is able to communicate, The Japji Sahib is said to be given to Guru Nanak by Waheguru, Waheguru even speaks to Guru Gobind Singh Ji before he is born in this world. Perhaps I was a bit rash to suggest "think" is the right word, he's beyond that. But the key concept of Pantheistic is the belief that the universe is god. Our Gurbani tells us this is true but Waheguru is also a completely separate divinity as well. Pantheistic would be the wrong word as it eradicates the concept of a God which is also separate from the Universe. Waheguru is the universe but the universe isn't waheguru. The Universe can be destroyed, Waheguru can't. I'll admit my understanding Pantheistic point of view on life is rather limited. But to my understanding Associating Waheguru with Pantheism completely is a bit of a stretch. Then again us trying to contemplate him is foolhardy haha.
  9. lol I can relate. I met some really 2 faced muslims in my time. But I did meet some pretty decent and down to earth ones too. Like it or not but muhammad did achieve a massive amount, I mean he built a cult which I dare say is almost akin to stalin's cult personality.
  10. Read Batchar Natak by Guru Gobind singh Ji. Everything I said about Muhammed is what is there. Not to trust the Muslims? I highly doubt that. During the battle of Chamkaur he did warn his Sikhs that we shouldn't trust the words of the invaders as their words were worth nothing. His words proved right when they attacked them as they left Anandpur. However there were Muslims that did aid Guru Sahib as well, such as a muslim ruler (Rai Kalha) I believe whom the Guru Sahib gifted a sword in exchange for his hospitality. Not all Muslims were bad. Again this is what I know, if someone who's far better at history than me can offer to shed some more light, it would be much appreciated. Our Guru Sahib never went to war against the Muslims. They went to war against the Establishment which was tyrannical and hell-bent on forcing Islam on all. That's why Guru Sahib is referred to as the protector of the helpless. That's why Guru Tegh Bahadur lay down his head to protect those who weren't even a part of his faith, So everyone was free to follow their own path. I always found the islamic perception of god to be one akin to a naughty child and a father. The naughty child is promised heaven as a means to pacify them into behaving. strange thoughts on god for me at-least.
  11. He is just as enthusiastic. As is nearly every poster here. Gurbani is a vast ocean of knowledge, it isn't restricted to just a few key rivers that we should explore. There isn't an Islamic forum around which would let what we discuss here go by. They would ban it instantly. There are a large variety of topics that correspond to Gurbani. Our Ancestors fought the Mughals so we could sit here today and talk about these kinds of topics. So we can enrich our own Knowledge of Sikhi and understand why everything happened or is happening. Gurbani is universal and timeless. The Islamic topic discussed here is presenting Muhammed is a negative light, Almost all Muslim would be unhappy such a discussion is taking place as they perceive him to be perfect.
  12. Who are we to bless you May Waheguru keep you on the right path and bless us with the same Budhhi you have.
  13. Guru Gobind Singh Ji talks about it all in Batchar Natak. He mentions how God made Muhammed master of arabia but he wasn't able to instill the name of god in people. He let his pride get in the way. He mentions how he created the gods and how the trinity in hinduism proclaimed themselves god and omnipotent. How Brahma started calling himself Parah-Brahm and so on. He talks about how it was then Waheguru called him over and asked him to come to earth to put people on the right path. The scriptures have small aspects which are true, how much is debatable. But the pride of those who wrote them got in the way of actually creating something akin to Gurbani. That's why many Bhagats after reading them were able to see which parts were aligned with god and which were not. Even though they didn't consider themselves Sikhs they were one with god through other means.

    Forced To Take Amrit

Ignore the sangat, even if you were bullied into it consider it a blessing. Learn as much as you, consult the Panj Pyaare and explain the situation, follow what they say to the dot and build up your Sikhi. Waheguru won't be offended if you do something unknowingly. We all make thousands of mistakes everyday, thats why in ardaas we ask for forgiveness . As long as you follow the Rehet as well as you can and with complete devotion, you'll be a great Amritdhari.
  15. SheikhYoBooty bro, just putting it out there. The first Sikh in history was Bibi Nanaki I believe as she recognized Guru Nanak's divinity even at the moment of his birth.
  16. You're posts never fail to capture how much wisdom you possess. That was really well written, thank you for sharing.
  17. lol she said her Ganga-devi writes down everything. Implying her devi knows everything Maybe her devi can write down for her to stop mixing hinduism with sikhism.
  18. Who are you to say who receives Kirpa lol, you're indirectly saying that those sikhs that haven't taken Amrit are inferior to those who have, BY your logic if an Amritdhari kills someone cold blooded its of less consequence than a non-amritdhari killing someone in cold blood. Anyone doing any form of prayer from the Guru Granth Sahib would invoke the same protection, bless than from any other portion of Gurbani. Going to follow on from your logic. If Karma affects people from past lives you're now implying that our Guru Sahibs had bad Karma, that's why all those atrocities that happened to them happened. Our Karma gives us our human life, after that it's what we do here that determine how we're judged. Not a past life. lol ok Baba Preet. You know when Waheguru will bless people, you're the personification of knowledge who knows who can invoke god and can't. A Sikh is the follower of the Guru Granth Sahib, None of the Gursikhs before our 10th Guru took Amrit, you're not calling them inferior to the modern day Amritdhari. The Brahmin beliefs were famous in all directions, that hardly made them right. What exactly are you alluding to here? would be great if you actually made proper quotations since it isn't that hard . All you've shown is that God created the universe and god can destroy it? There have been numerous studies by various scholars who proved that Guru Sahib wrote the Dasam Granth's bani. Our Karam only gets us so far lol. You should read this sakhi about Guru Gobind singh Ji and the Pandit. http://tuhitu.blogspot.co.uk/2011/09/guru-gobind-singh-ji-and-naina-devi.html Anyone saying any other forces guard Dharm are ignoring the Guru's Words. Vishnu had people worship him as god. NO he isn''t. Baba Preet, please you should go to an actual Gurudwara and not get lost in a Mandir with your Pandit friends. You just said he helps others more. What? It cures their sickness. Not washes away their sins, a murder can't just walk into Amritsar, take a bath and come out clean. That's not how it work. I bet you love twisting Bani to fit your hindu beliefs If you actually read Nitmen rather than reciting it you would know how much crap you talk most of the time.
  19. There's quite alot of misinformation going around. Most people learn through Sakhi and other stories. Unfortunately not all of these stories are true as many haven't be authenticated by Scholars or even by Sikhs from Guru Sahib's time who spent quite a long time gathering this knowledge. Rather than relying on Sakhi we should be encouraged to Study the texts our Guru Sahib entrusted to us. Whether they be Dasam Granth, Guru Granth Sahib Ji or any other. But even then the only real trust we should have is in Guru Granth Sahib Ji as it is our Guru. While Gurmat knowledge is important when taking these decisions we should also see the full picture of what the problem actually is. In many cases people tend to think with their hearts rather than their brains, as a result we end up making wrong/doubtful decisions. The best way to avoid this is to get educated in both Gurmat and ordinary Education, both tools will allow us to make less morally wrong choices. Our Gurbani is our Guide in our world, our teacher. Like all good students we should take what our teacher teaches us and then apply it rationally to whatever situation may come. Relying on Stories, or what our elders tell us isn't enough nowadays. Just going to add here I'm not implying we should disrespect our Elders but many of them are confused. A-lot of them come from India where quite a lot of poison is being mixed in with Sikh knowledge. In the west however the Sikhs here are now able to distinguish them from true Sikhi, in India that isn't always the case. So rather than just taking their word for it we should take the initiative to explore what they have told us and see if it is actually in line with Sikhi. Another problem is our Akal Takhat isn't taking any major steps to help stop the spread of these anti-gurmat vichars. It's ironic that the west many people speak out against is the one place where Sikhi is slowly becoming a predominant force and the teachings are usually more coherent with our Guru Sahib's words than in many places in India.
  20. So you're saying only Amritdhari people can invoke protection from Waheguru. Let me explain things simply. are you now saying one bani is less important in tersm of protection or not. Is it so hard for you to go to Guru Granth sahib website and type in goat. We're suppose to reject anything that's not from Guru Granth Sahib ji. if you can't understand that then why are you calling yourself a Sikh? The difference is he's not mentioned there By that logic I could easily say that a monkey spoke and put someone on the right path. Thaat hardly makes it true. If you looked at SikhiWiki it even mentions how many scholars doubt the story of the talking goat. So you agree that it is Waheguru killing people then? and not the person. cool. Our deeds are our own, how hard is that for you to accept. Waheguru can't be blamed for it, you put karma out there and then go "oh that person died, bad karma" who are you to decide that. Karma helps us get into the world. After that it's all us . The Creator knows what's happening, what will happen and has happened. He can interfere but he lets us walk our own path. Blaming everything on Karma is downright stupid. so you're now denying that Waheguru alone protects dharma? lmao ok. Ignore what Guru Gobind Singh Ji said in his autobiography. Looks like waheguru doesn't protect the Khalsa everyone. You tell me how pure your devi devta are since you consider the protectors are lol. *waits for Preet to proclaim them the real gods and that Guru Sahib is wrong and she knows best* He helps everyone. One way or another. Stop acting like you know who he helps and who he doesn't. He has no enmity. That doesn't mean they wash off people's sins lol. Many Sikhs assert these waters have healing properties. Whether they do is debatable for some sikhs. Most Sarovars are added as a memorial to the one in amritsar. Their not there to wash off people's paap. If you think they do the you're free to go and sit in one all your life lol. By the hand of a true Saint they can. However bathing in sarovars and saying they wash off sins. That's completely contradictory to Gurbani.
  21. Rehras Sahib is even a part of Guru Granth Sahib in the sense its fully compiled in one part. It's a composure of Shabads. Certain Bani are read at certain times due to the Rehet Maryada. There isn't a time for when they can and can't be read. You said it isn't a real scenario lol. But there are plenty of people that only know Japji sahib. By your line of thinking they can't invoke protection because it's inadequate to protect them. Then find it. I'd rather listen to something that's in the Guru Granth Sahib. The same Guru Sahib didn't include this talking goat in Gurbani. So much for listening to him then. But why are you now retracting your statement. Are you saying that Waheguru doesn't do everything? that we're now capable of doing? that our deeds are are own? You just said waheguru does everything. So why the sudden turn to Karma. You're right I did doubt that story, till you pointed it out in Gurbani. Now point out the Goat in Gurbani. But the conundrum is why she did Sati. She placed her self worth in her husband, which is against sikhism. Why would Waheguru need them to guard Dharm? you're saying he's incompetent of doing so. These so called protectors of Dharma didn't come down in the late 1400s. Guru Nanak did, he was the protector of Dharma. Not them. You say that but refuse to accept that anyone other than a Sikh can pray to waheguru and that he wouldn't listen. You then had the audacity to say that Waheguru only helped them on rare occasions like you're some Brahmgiani who knows the limits of what waheguru can do or what he has done. I already pointed out that most of the Gurudwara were built after Guru sahib's time. If you think its Dharmic despite the fact I even showed you Gurbani which contradicted that then you're challenging Gurbani and think you know better. most people don't take baths in Sarovars to "wash away sin" if that were the case then you could sit a sarovar till you die and be free of all sin. Gurbani tells us the true Sarovar is God's name. Why is that hard for you to stomach? good then boast it a bit more and you'll be at-least trying for both sides of the coin
  22. The Bhenji here is spot on. She's a role model to us all lol.
  23. Nah it isn't so bad here. Sikhism is classed as a race and/or ethnicity I believe in the UK. Not sure how things are in america honestly but our freedom of speech is fine unless we're publically insulting others etc. Which I personally think is fine.
  24. certain individuals in the muslim community targeting Vulnerable girls by claiming to love them and then clouding their minds till they convert not for the religion but usually for the guy.
  25. sadly. I'm hoping maybe Ganga Devi can help her devotee over there by wash away some misconceptions along with the sins.
