  1. Perhaps a collective translation instead of one author? Maybe make a facebook page or something where everyone can contribute. I am just brainstorming here!
  2. lol at present some of these sites like srigranth and sridasam have been down for a few months due to some database being down that these sites use. Maybe before they come online we need to do a collective internet panthic re-translation of bani which is made available online. I have been pondering upon this myself!
  3. Put a gurbani app on your phone and read it. Make sure it has english translations.
  4. lol I dunno how I will find time to check out Quran, when I am stills struggling for time to read all of gurbani including Guru Gobind Singh de bani?
  5. There are some dodgy families which delay finding partners for marriage for their daughters so that they can live off their daughters' earning. Some of these families are horrible and don't really seem to care who their daughters marry. Dreadful.
  6. This late marriage thing is bringing up youths with excess baggage of ex partners, this late marriage thing is making more people lose their izzat and creating the randi/rundee thing (rundee hogei was a term applied to widows but now youth themselves are putting themselves in this situation). I think some communities like bhatra sikhs and afghan sikhs still seem to marry at a respectable age, similar or slightly later to the ages that Guru sahibs would marry at. This late marriage thing seems is also messing with youngsters kaam, especially with the need to substitute their dharam patti/patni with this boyfriend/girlfriend partner nonsense.
  7. yeh they make really good cartoons inspiring sikhs =)
  8. What do they wear in India? In India, since a lot of Singhs use motorcycles they would ?probably? know which shades to wear.
  9. Strategically took the photo at Slough Singh Sabha to avoid the Khalistan banners lol !
  10. look, some "sikhs" don't understand nirguna/sarguna concept of Waheguru Akaal. They are stuck in gora/firanghi understanding of God, which has damaged sikh panth and sikh literature and teaching since colonial times. All this paranoia to heritage and cultural terms used for nirguna and sarguna roop stems from those times.
  11. Interesting, Just check her June 4 tweets, she seems to have gone to Guru Nanak School (Hayes). Maybe someone else went to the school with her, or in her year?
  12. nothing wrong with being a pendu. Actually some kenya sikhs have tried using it as a slur towards me a few times, and even the term "indian mentality". But then there's also the term unparh pendu which actually emphasises dimness. I think this term is justified! I also tried to use the term village <banned word filter activated> on this forum, but the term for stupid beginning with the letter 'i' seems to be banned on here.
  13. I think in this thread, posters haven't gone into jatts too much. I mean when some people are actually trying to go against caste and caste system, they instead go full racist against jatts. I support people who use the jatt term to instill good values and real annakh and izzat etc which help someone be dharmik, not those who use it for false pride and ego. unfortunately that is what it seems to be used for. Many jatt families seem to becoming so uneducated in sikhi and any dharmik values that I don't understand what they see in using the jatt terms for themselves?
  14. As I am from jatt background myself, all I can say is that once jatt loses his turban, I don't know what he is still proud of? And I think everyone should wear turban if they complain about being looked at in a castist manner. If Gurus have given all sikhs freedom to wear turban yet people get a firanghi haircut like they are gulam and complain about being called low caste or whatever?!?!!
  15. What an <banned word filter activated>! Come on there are jatts marrying who-knows what in western countries just so they can get indefinite stay or citizenship. And then this jatt man does this? Seriously? He doesn;t even have a turban on his head, and yet he is ashamed of marrying someone from a poor background and poor class? What is a Ramdasia again?
  16. oh no I was too late, the domain is gone. where is another good source? I have the Buddha Dal gutka at home and I know someone has posted parts of this gutka online. Actually I think I found this gutka in an iPhone app as well!
  17. oh no 3rd generationers, the grandchildren! I have 3rd generationer relatives, just lost people. Good thing my relations with them aren't that good either.
  18. these sikh men are either drowning in the work and make money mentality, and so have no time to think about izzat. Also too many come from these village <banned word filter activated> families that just seem too uneducated to pass dharmik values to their children and grandchildren. Mix both issues and you get a mess. Also seen some religious and amrit dhari families doing these dating things. All the amrit dhari ones I seen are from east african families, but I hear there are indian ones as well, perhaps they are 3rd generationers? Regardless when you follow sikhi in a religious/ritualistic manner like a gora or arab, then you forget to follow it dharmically. And you lose the dharmik culture of which some desi families still have left. Colonial pro-religious adharmik attitudes mess things up, and those sikhs that spent too much time serving gora even when wearing turban and 5 Ks might have lost a lot of dharmik thinking and definitely dharmik culture. Just really weird to see families where the men have turbans and girls are dressed in certain way and are drinking glassy.
  19. I went through her timeline, couldn't understand anything. IS she some kind of troll account, maybe someone pretending to be a girl?
  20. what is the letter that you have chosen from Adi Guru Granth Sahib hukumnama? please tell us so that we can suggest names according to the first letter
  21. yes, there are still a lot of backwards Victorian values which have had an effect on our thinking, with some sikhs even doubting some of the Guru Sahibs' marriages! And also these values have affected how we follow sikhi, including some movements and jathebandis during colonial times! Not to forget that we use harmoniums instead of following keertani maryada in gurdwaras! Being religious instead of dharmik, and basically the degenerate behaviour now from villager sikhs both in the pends and in countries such as UK. Today I just saw a video of a marriage couple, that are both smoking; the groom is wearing red pagh with the trim beard that sikhs nowadays ritually grow for marriage.
  22. actually, now I read the gori's tweet, she worded the shaheedi in a bad way. Guru Arjan Dev's martyrdom wasn't against islam, although it was done by islamic extremists. Where is the pic about Khalsa Aid sangat?
