  1. I am also worried about the internal racism from moneh "sikh" guys and girls towards turban wearers. Have you seen what happens at gurdwara matrimonials?
  2. It was accidental, and also have you ever taken medicine that contains alcohol?
  3. anyways, still this is the Son and he could be different. He is also part of Labour which I guess means they follow more liberal views as opposed to the Conservative party? The press love putting Labour politicians down so it's better if this thing isn't too over-exposed as we need a Singh MP!
  4. I would go to gurdwara more if keertan was done in tanti saaz gurmat sangeet maryada as opposed to the not very uplifting (to put it politely) harmonium sound which is sometimes not even done to raag and instead to bhangra and bollywood tunes. We need to follow Guru maryada more so sangat can enjoy! At least at home or in my car I can use Youtube or CDs and internet to listen to gurmat sangeet in tanti saaz. IS it bonkers that I have to be outside gurdwaras to listen to keertan in gurmat maryada?
  5. To understand gurbani it is good to understand history and historical texts as well
  6. Absolutely, the meat is meat argument is an absolutely hypocritical thing for a sikh to say! so shameful!
  7. What I meant was it's a shame if he is. Wikipedia entries: He is the son of Jaspal Singh Dhesi, who runs a construction company in the UK, and who is the former president of Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar, in Gravesend, the largest Gurdwara in the UK. Dhesi has a bachelor's degree in mathematics with management studies from University College London, studied applied statistics at Keble College, Oxford, and has a Master of Philosophy in the history and politics of South Asia from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge.[1] This seems really good, especially the MPhil he has South east Asia history. But then the next paragraph is so dodgy. In 2012, his mother, Dalwinder Kaur Dhesi, was jailed in India, for kidnap and forcing an abortion on a teenage mother, who later died.[4][5] I did some research regarding this, and this is regarding the girl involved with the ex SGPC president Jagir Kaur (was it her daughter or daughter in law). So with the Dad being involved in Gurdwara committee, the Mum being involved in nefarious activity with an SGPC President - and the son is active in politics. As sikhs, I am sure we have learnt to be careful of all politicians including SGPC, Gurdwara committees and government.
  8. Do disabled sikhs also discriminate with racism towards turbanned sikhs?
  9. This isn't the correct website to argue anything which is meat or egg. There is different amridhari sangat and hukumnamas for your view. such as Nihang Singhs and their rehat. I cannot post my view of correct rehit and rehatnamas on this website, sorry!
  10. Perhaps a collective translation instead of one author? Maybe make a facebook page or something where everyone can contribute. I am just brainstorming here!
  11. lol at present some of these sites like srigranth and sridasam have been down for a few months due to some database being down that these sites use. Maybe before they come online we need to do a collective internet panthic re-translation of bani which is made available online. I have been pondering upon this myself!
  12. Put a gurbani app on your phone and read it. Make sure it has english translations.
  13. lol I dunno how I will find time to check out Quran, when I am stills struggling for time to read all of gurbani including Guru Gobind Singh de bani?
  14. There are some dodgy families which delay finding partners for marriage for their daughters so that they can live off their daughters' earning. Some of these families are horrible and don't really seem to care who their daughters marry. Dreadful.
  15. This late marriage thing is bringing up youths with excess baggage of ex partners, this late marriage thing is making more people lose their izzat and creating the randi/rundee thing (rundee hogei was a term applied to widows but now youth themselves are putting themselves in this situation). I think some communities like bhatra sikhs and afghan sikhs still seem to marry at a respectable age, similar or slightly later to the ages that Guru sahibs would marry at. This late marriage thing seems is also messing with youngsters kaam, especially with the need to substitute their dharam patti/patni with this boyfriend/girlfriend partner nonsense.
  16. yeh they make really good cartoons inspiring sikhs =)
  17. What do they wear in India? In India, since a lot of Singhs use motorcycles they would ?probably? know which shades to wear.
  18. Strategically took the photo at Slough Singh Sabha to avoid the Khalistan banners lol !
  19. look, some "sikhs" don't understand nirguna/sarguna concept of Waheguru Akaal. They are stuck in gora/firanghi understanding of God, which has damaged sikh panth and sikh literature and teaching since colonial times. All this paranoia to heritage and cultural terms used for nirguna and sarguna roop stems from those times.
  20. Interesting, Just check her June 4 tweets, she seems to have gone to Guru Nanak School (Hayes). Maybe someone else went to the school with her, or in her year?
  21. nothing wrong with being a pendu. Actually some kenya sikhs have tried using it as a slur towards me a few times, and even the term "indian mentality". But then there's also the term unparh pendu which actually emphasises dimness. I think this term is justified! I also tried to use the term village <banned word filter activated> on this forum, but the term for stupid beginning with the letter 'i' seems to be banned on here.
  22. I think in this thread, posters haven't gone into jatts too much. I mean when some people are actually trying to go against caste and caste system, they instead go full racist against jatts. I support people who use the jatt term to instill good values and real annakh and izzat etc which help someone be dharmik, not those who use it for false pride and ego. unfortunately that is what it seems to be used for. Many jatt families seem to becoming so uneducated in sikhi and any dharmik values that I don't understand what they see in using the jatt terms for themselves?
