  1. Jind Kaurs haveli is a museum now with puratan shastar.
  2. Unless he had written the essay before his meeting but the British decided to publish it afterwards, to make it look like he died an atheist so Sikhs won't be inspired by him, it's the kind of thing the British would have done. Because he definitely has a joora in the last photo taken.
  3. So Bhai Sahib met him on 4th October, but there are different dates for when Bhagat Singh wrote the essay.
  4. @intrigued it was a while back but i remember reading that the essay was dated a few days after his meeting with Bhai Randhir Singh ji. So maybe he changed his mind again? Idnno ... But he definitely is growing a joora in that last photo taken of him in prison.
  5. Apparently he did, but I think his essay on why he became an atheist was written or released after his meeting with bhai Randhir Singh ji.
  6. If anyone is interested there's a free kindle book on Jind Kaur, around 250 pages, I haven't read it yet ... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Maharani-Jind-Kaur-Regent-Lahore-ebook/dp/B08FMT1S8Z/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=maharani+jind+kaur&qid=1615851919&s=digital-text&sr=1-1
  7. Those are 2 very different scenarios. If she's in a relationship with a non-Sikh out of her own choice, then there isn't much you can do about it. I'd personally disown her and tell her to go away and get on with her own life. Now if a female has been tricked that's a completely different thing. No woman in my family has married or been with a non-Sikh.
  8. I think most people are unaware that he was an atheist, most freedom fighters were quite secular, so its no surprise. I think he is more popular among the youth because he was young himself. In recent years I've seen more and more people interested in Kartar Singh Sarabha.
  9. Unless she is underage or kidnapped then it is her choice! you can't just snatch a grown woman like that, and it would be the same case if it was the other way round. I've always said that on here. Religion is fast fading, it really doesn't play an important role in most peoples lives, ignore the over the top outwardly religious people who make it look as if religion is still very important in most peoples lives. As religion is gnna continue fading from peoples lives, these kind of relationships are gnna continue increasing.
  10. seems like Paki babas aren't that different to their Indian counterparts
  11. They do in Pakistan, they have a lot of cults. Not sure about SriLanka ...
  12. All these Kings probably existed during Satyug and probably were celestial Kings with their own abodes/realms, rather than living on earth.
  13. These Deras are basically cults, that's why they're so secretive. How do people actually join them? do they just turn up ? I'm guessing some kind of ritual takes place. My chachi is a member of a dera, not sure which one, but she donated all her cattle to the dera! When we were going to Amritsar and crossing the Beas river, it was shocking to see the miles and miles of land/fields that followers had donated to the dera! When Ram Raheem was imprisoned and all his followers were weeping and wailing, a few families from my dads pind hired vehicles and left in the middle of the night, dera followers are very secretive about these things. But news spreads fast in villages and someone saw them getting into the cars and leaving. Politicians obviously need the deras, to influence voting. From what I've read its not easy to leave these deras, a lot of dangerous people are involved in deras and they keep an eye on you. I'm guessing a lot of demonic practices take place, Ram Raheem used to castrate the boys.
  14. Yeah I think for many people behind all that anger and hate is some pain and bad experiences. A lot of people with an unstable childhood end up with a lot of anger built up. Personally speaking I'm not someone who has much anger/krodh, I'm quite the opposite actually. Different people "process" pain differently. But I think it comes down to personality aswell, some people are just angry people! It's not necessarily the result of pain and hurt. Anger is probably the most damaging of the 5 chor, it spreads hate and destroys many people. People who join hate groups normally have a lot of anger and hate, the group then becomes like a space where they can vent all that anger. Yeah, we as a community don't talk much about krodh or the complexity.
  15. She had quite an extraordinary life. Daughter of a poor kennel keeper, Its said when she was born her father didn't want a baby girl so decided to bury her alive but then changed his mind. Though born into a humble family she got married to a King and become Queen of one of the richest Kingdoms in Asia. She then witnessed the whole thing crumbling right before her. Her son gets taken away, she gets locked in a tower but manages to escape dressed like a maid and then ends up in Nepal where she lived for 10 years. And then years later she finally gets permission to meet her son in the country of the very people that dethroned her! When she felt her sons face she was horrified that he was clean-shaven, like the people that took her Kingdom away. Its like a fairy-tale but with no happy ending! They should make a movie about her! I think Sikhs in the West should start making movies about all these historical figures, especially the ones that moved to the West, like Rani Jind Kaur, Shaheed Udham Singh, Gadr party etc We've got enough wealth in the community to back the projects! and plenty of talented creative people.
  16. Here he is again, unveiling Maharani Jind Kaurs plaque at a cemetery in London.
  17. I have no idea, it seems like people who are loaded with £££ like to self appoint themselves as our leaders and representatives, and become our voice.
  18. Was surprised that the BBC made this, the Royals must have upset the BBC lol and this documentary was a reminder
  19. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/royal-barge-sex-offender-prince-867317 FOR more than 10 years he rubbed shoulders with royalty as a trusted VIP guest of Prince Charles. But yesterday Harbinder Singh Rana had the red carpet pulled from under his feet – after the Mirror exposed him as a convicted serial sex attacker. We told how the 52-year-old Sikh community leader was sentenced to four years in jail after posing as a doctor to assault a string of vulnerable women. And last night he was banished from all future royal events – as Charles hit out furiously after being kept in the dark over Rana’s shameful secret. The prince is livid that his security staff failed on five occasions to alert him about the charity worker’s criminal convictions – including five counts of indecent assault, 11 counts of assault and one of attempted assault.
  20. Night culture was never a part of rural Punjabi life, most people in the old days used to wake up like 4am, many still do. Things are changing with the youth though, my cousin goes "clubbing" in Ludhiana and Chandigarh and returns home middle of the night. Not sure what the clubbing scene is like in Punjab, never asked him ...
  21. It is quite complex. Like you said a lot of them ask for dowry so the daughter-in-law doesn't start playing up. Then at the same time some feel they have to give a dowry, like it's an expectation. And then you have some people who have a lot of money and they give dowry to show off, it's part of the pomp and spectacle. I think a lot of it is because of greed as well. My mami got married in the late 80s, now and then whenever she's in a strop, she feels the need to remind everyone that when she got married her father sent some some tables and chairs with her.
  22. Yeah but she was the head of many counties, and they all dumped her ?
