  1. Its not diet that is going to make us different from Hindus its our practices. You have sikhs who go mandir, believe in people like baba balak nath, sikh women who wear sindoor, wear threads around wrists, etc when you do all this how are you any different to hindus then?
  2. I dunno I question myself as a sikh as well. I keep my hair but always end up trimming my dhari I keep it for 3 months and then someone always laughs or makes a stupid comment and I end up trimming it. I do simran everyday though when I'm walking or at work. I also do simran with the sangat at the gurdwara sometimes. I stopped drinking and eating meat about 2 years back I used to be monah but got really annoyed and offended with people always thinking I'm a paki so I stopped cutting my hair and started wearing parka. Iv learnt the first 5 pauris of anand sahib of by heart and I'm trying to learn chaupai sahib now I can read it with the transliteration and have learnt how to prounonce the shabds properly by listening to the audio. Iv started giving money to the poor too. I do try to push myself But I have full faith In guru ji I always thank guru ji for everything and always do matha tek and ask guru ji to make me a better sikh
  3. Your posts are the best haha I love old school names like Hari singh, sher singh, jassa singh, zorawar singh, Bhagat singh, veer singh I like Hari singh I'm gonna give my kids these types of names.
  4. Didn't bhai jagraj singh say that the big gurdwara in southall makes something like £2 million a year.
  5. I agree jatts are putting people off sikhi some jatts in India like to create the impression that they own sikhi. Because of jatts hogging everything chamars had to create their own gurdwareh in pinds. How long is this stupidity gonna go on for. As for converting people we need to give them love and acceptance. What's the point of gaining dalit converts if the jatts in the pinds are not gonna treat them equally and just gonna drive them to build there own gurdwareh. Need to change our own mentality first.
  6. Guru Nanak dev ji is waheguru himself. Waheguru ji came down to the earth in the form of guru Nanak dev ji. Waheguru responded to the cries and suffering of the people at the hands of the mughals and Brahmins and came down to earth.
  7. isn't black magic called kala ilm or kala alm something like that. I think its where people communicate with the dead and tell them to move into someones house or body that spirit then torments you, depression, illnesses etc If you have faith and trust in guru ji then i don't think these things can harm you. Have faith that bani is much more powerful than majic. I think a lot is to do with are we just reading bani and believing in the gurus as a routine or have we truly given ourselves and all our faith and trust to guru ji. If sikhi is just a routine then its empty but if you have given all your trust and faith to sikhi and nothing else then no dark magic can harm you.
  8. i dnno, i thought you lived in India? wouldn't you what that means more than people living abroad lol?
  9. My mum works at the hospital the polish nurses who work there at night tell my mum that they hear loads of things at night they hear the noises of walking sticks and walkers in the corridors but no one is there. There's this gori at my work place who used get ghosts out of people's houses and she said that ghosts are everywhere she said when someone dies with desires left or things which they wanted to do but couldn't etc they get left in this world and don't go to the next she said most ghosts are actually very sad and lost. She also says reincarnation is true and that our creator is inside us. She said the number 8 symbolizes the creator . I like talking to people who are different lol!
  10. But it only happened that one night when the man came to take the ghosts out. I'm 25 now
  11. yeah i think my house was haunted and my family were possessed! i was around 10/11 so i don't remember much. i remember for about a year everything started going down hill for us, dad lost job, lost a court case, mum and dad nearly had divorce, we gnna buy a house but then had problems and lost a lot of money because of that etc my dad ended up working at this crappy bakery and there was this paki christian/hindu type of person working there and he was like i sense you have lot of problems in your house and he offered to help for free! my parents were desperate so they invited him! he came around one evening and my parents sent me and my sister upstairs but we sat on the stairs and listened to the conversations lol! he straight away said who did the black magic on us and even said her name! he even told us how she did it! it was my dads brothers wife in india and she did it when my dad visited india. the man told us that she picked soil from the ground that my dad stood on and took it to the cremation ground and buried it there! he said the only person who was saved was my sister as she is still unmarried and protected by mata rani! he told them that you son gets scared at night! which was very true because i did used to get very anxious and scared at night but i didn't know why! i used to feel this presence but didn't know how to explain it. i never told my parents but this man some how knew! he then carried out this exorcism thing and my mum started shaking and he started chanting "kali mata" haha! he was saying something like "eh kali mata, isko bhi shakti de" my mum said she was shivering but could not make it stop and she felt something running though her body and out. he then told my parents that the spirits have left our bodies but are still in the house and that they will live at midnight. he said we might hear heavy banging at the door. he said when someone sends a lost aatma to your house, that aatma makes your house/body his house so when you tell this aatma to leave your basically throwing it out of its house. that night we didn't hear any banging but my dad actually saw those things! there were loads of them, they were dark and they were angry and saying why my dad is not letting them stay in the house, my dad said he was awake but so scared that he couldn't move or even talk. my mum was sleeping next to him, he said he tried to reach for her hand but couldn't move his hand because he was so scared and tormented by these things. he said he tried talking but his voice wouldn't come out. thats how frightening these things were! he said he then remembered this gurdwara near his pind in Punjab, he visualized the gurdwara and those things disappeared within seconds, they just became thin air and disappeared! soon after that everything started going back to normal! this man didn't ask for a penny! but said back in pakistan he used to do this but stopped doing it when he moved to the UK. he said he could see that we were having problems at home so decided to help! I know all this sounds like a 90s bollywood movie but it actually happened! haha i don't think these evil spirits can touch you if you have faith in guru ji, because guru ji will not let that happen.
  12. It sounds like they gnna start attacking you with their nails and leave scratch marks all over you lol! iduno
  13. yeah i think many people have some sort of attachment to the town/city that they were born and raised in regardless of how crap it might be lol. Best thing about Slough is probably the big presence of apne lol its a very diverse town but there never really has been any problems between different communities here. I feel home sick when i go India! after 2 weeks i'm just fed up of it and want to come back home, when we fly back to the UK and the minute i step out of heathrow airport gosh! i am sooooo happy haha! after a month in India i just love the uk so much the corner shops, tescos, the bricks, traffic lights, pakis, somalians, polish, i feel so in love with all these things after a month in india haha!
  14. old photo of the actual miri piri nishan sahibs at akal takht jaito morcha 1924 entrance to gurdwara tarn taran sahib
  15. Thats the whole reason why i downloaded and read it in the first place because some sikh sites were going on about how great the book is and how the Hindu author loved guru ji and how he praises guru ji, bla bla
  16. Yeah same, my nana has grey eyes while my mother has hazel, i have blonde hair in my dhari around my mustache and i remember a kala at work thought i had some dried curry on my mustache LOL iv seen many Singhs with brown dharis. In Punjab you see lots of people with these things. Indians who start claiming that they are "aryans" or have "European" ancestry because of their light hair etc are just embarrassing and still worship the whites
  17. Well i live in a very dull town just outside greater London called "slough" lol Its very dull, grey and 70s. No one visits Slough apart from people driving through Slough towards Windsor or London. Slough is very multi cultural! In fact its among the 3 or 4 towns in the UK which has more foreigners than local English people! only 35% of Slough is White British while the rest is all brown and black people. The town has a big Punjabi population though. Lots of Indian grocery stores, punjabi ladies clothing shops, we even had a Punjabi pub but thankfully that shut down! we have two Sikh schools and 3 gurdwareh. A lot of small businesses owned by Punjabis . We have A LOT of apne from Punjab who are illegally living in this country, I think its because Heathrow airport is close by so they just get of the plane and come to Slough lol but its good because they keep the Punjabi population up in Slough. There's not much to do here lol. Everything is shutting down, we used to have a decent high street back int the 90s but most of it has shut down. a lot of halal shops and corner shops. we have a lot of new expensive flats being built around central Slough but mostly people from other towns who work in London have moved into these flats as London is not far. People from London often move to Slough as London is really expensive to live in. Some sheikh from Dubai wanted to buy Slough town center and build flashy new apartments and big shopping centers but the Windsor castle people kept on rejecting the plans as they said the tall apartments are going to ruin the view for Windsor castle as windsor is right next to slough, we had a lot of hope in the Dubai man making Slough center nice but it turned out he got arrested because of fraud and is locked up in Saudi Arabia now lol! so yeah
  18. When was the khanda made? why is it that we don't see it on old objects or old paintings
  19. Yeah India's flag is really ugly, i don't like it. the circle is nice but the rest is just plain and boring. Was it ghandi who designed it? I like sri lankas flag though the lion and the sword. It looks like a flag that belongs to a mighty empire! something that a warrior would carry
