  1. Has anyone had any similar experiences by doing 5 sukhmani sahib?
  2. Guruguruji

    .

I feel like it has given a lot of people more time to dedicate towards sikhi, I've seen loads of people starting sehaj paath at home on tik tok. Although, I do feel I need to do a good few ardasa to help the transition going back to work and keeping up my Amritvela lol our bodies have kind of got used to being a little less active.
  3. Sometimes it depends on what the mother did whilst she was pregnant I.e. if she watched a lot of ramayan whilst she was pregnant when the baby is born he will automatically make a link hence kathavachaks always encourage pregnant ladies to do paath so that when the child is born if u continue the sikhya they will learn it really quickly. However, sometimes when a lady is pregnant she may be interested in things which she usually would be interested in- this could be due to the past life of the baby I guess.
  4. I've tried all my strength but I can't get in contact with him as he's blocked all ways. I have to honestly put my hands up and say I do not know what else I can physically do. I have no option but to surrender to guru sahib. I do believe that ardas and benti Can make the impossible possible because at the end of the day we're all God's Children's. I know waheguru ji has given us free will but I believe that in this era we're surrounded by kalyug and sometimes when your bani/meditation lacks kalyug gets to your mind. I know I can't force my hubby to change his mind however I can pray for him and ask maharaj to protect him from kalyug infecting his mind so that he can realise his mistakes. Laavan are very powerful and two people who are connected with laavan do have some sort of spiritual connection/authority over each other. Similarly a parent and child are closely connected too, my parents have been praying for my brother and I have seen a drastic change in him. I remember a while back when everything was going good, we did parshada for 5 Singh's, one Singh mentioned how his daughter has took amrit but her husband wouldn't change his path. She began doing ardas for him at Amrit vela to protect him from kalyugs influences and she was successful. Guru sahib says 'Jo mange Takhur apne te soee soee deve' they also say 'har har Tera naam hai dukh metanhaara'..... So my ardas is 'har ju rakh leo patt meri' .... I know for a fact waheguru jis words cannot be lies so the lack is in me, I hope with the sangats blessings and waheguru jis mercy my prayer will be fulfilled.
  5. Yes our sins are great but waheguru jis mercy is greater. Remember the saakhi of Mata Ganga ji who didn't have a son in her destiny, even baba budha ji refused her at first. But when she went without pride and with full faith, mercy was shown. With guru sahibs blessings she had such an amazing son (Guru HarGobind Sahib ji) that destiny alone couldn't have given her.
  6. Waow thank u for sharing, I do nitnem but I have no concentration at all hence it doesn't bring me as much peace. I guess I always worry that if I start concentrating on the meanings it'll take me longer but ur explanation makes sense, more concentration should speed up ur recitation. How did you learn the translations? I've tried listening to katha but my mind usually drifts off during that too, I'm in my early 20's so maybe my concentration span isn't as good. May waheguru ji keep u in chardikala.
  7. Waow, thank u so much. Just makes me wonder that if guru sahibs gursikhs are so kind then I wonder how kind maharaj ji must be himself. I've always seen my marriage as a triangle guru sahib at the top and me n my hubby at the bottom. Guru sahib has joined us together with his grace and tbh it's waheguru jis responsibility to care for us - he's our mother/father. Omg I originally got worried reading the first few lines but waheguru ji has given the solution to all my problems too?. I really need to dedicate more time and attention to paath- change my fears into faith. Thank you once again
  8. Thank u so much for ur blessings, means a lot. I remember hearing in a katha that just as one little match stick can set a a whole barn on fire, just like that by saying waheguru even once (with full devotion and Faith) can set all your paap on fire. Thats true, maharaj jis the King of all hearts... sometimes I wonder if all of this faith is part of his hukam too because sometimes when I feel like breaking down he'll do something to lift me back up.
  9. Thank u so so sooo much, you don't understand how precious your blessings are. May Dhan guru nanak dev ji bless u with chardikala.
  10. Recently I heard a katha about the power of sangat and how guru sahib says that if there's anyone above the guru it is his sangat. What the sangat says guru sahib cannot ignore. There's many examples in saakhis; 1. Bhai chajju jis bricks 2. Baba budha ji's bachan 3.bhai Sahlo ji And many more... Please it's a benti in your charan sangat ji, please give me the blessings of a happy married life with my husband. May waheguru ji save us from a divorce, may Dhan guru Ram das ji keep the honor of his laavan. Guru gobind Singh ji says it's paap to even think of anyone but ur partner, give us blessings so that we can follow guru sahibs teachings. Please may this separated couple be united. I know many people may say it's karam/bhana etc but guru sahib and guru jis sangat are above these and through your blessings maharaj ji may be merciful and clear my bad accounts. Please please please please please, I cannot express how much and how valuable/priceless your blessings are. Please gursangat ji
  11. maer ae prabh saradhhaa bhagath man bhaavai jan k ee paij savaarae 1 Faith and devotion are pleasing to my God's Mind; He saves the honor of His humble servants. 1 ( Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Pannaa 982) Once there was no rain in a particular area for an extended period. The people of that area decided to do Ardas so that their crops are saved. The people gathered together at one place for Ardas. One passing by Sikh Saint stopped there and asked them the purpose of gathering. One of them told the Sikh Saint that that they had gathered here to do Ardas because the crops will be destroyed in the absence of rain. The Saint said that is good but none of you brought any umbrellas or barsatie (rain coats)…. When Waheguru accepted your Ardas then there will be lot of rain. One group leader laughingly said, but we do not know whether it will rain or not. The Saint said, "How will your Ardas be accepted when you do not have faith in Waheguru" . He told them to go home . mai thaan dheebaan thoohai maerae suaamee mai thudhh aagai aradhaas mai hor thhaao naahee jis pehi karo baena(n)thee maeraa dhukh sukh thujh hee paas 2 You alone are my strength, and my Court, O my Lord and Master; unto You alone I pray. There is no other place where I can offer my prayers; I can tell my pains and pleasures only to You. 2 ( Guru Granth Sahib Ji, ang735 )
  12. Extracts from a book called miracles of ardas.
  13. Thank u for sharing these. It's given my mind so much peace. God bless u
  14. Woaw such a beautiful saakhi. Reminds me of another sakhi I heard apparently it's true. Author: Unknown Dr. Mark, a well-known cancer specialist, was once on his way to an important conference in another city where he was going to be granted an award in the field of medical research. He was very excited to attend the conference and was desperate to reach as soon as possible. He had worked long and hard on his research and felt his efforts deserved the award he was about to obtain. However, two hours after the plane took off, the plane made an emergency landing at the nearest airport due to some technical snag. Afraid, that he wouldn’t make it in time for the conference, Dr. Mark immediately went to the reception and found that the next flight to the destination was after ten hours. The receptionist suggested him, to rent a car and drive himself down to the conference city which was only four hours away. Having no other choice, he agreed to the idea despite his hatred for driving long distances. Dr. Mark rented a car and started his journey. However, soon after he left, the weather suddenly changed and a heavy storm began. The pouring rain made it very difficult for him to see and he missed a turn he was supposed to take. After two hours of driving, he was convinced he was lost. Driving in the heavy rain on a deserted road, feeling hungry and tired, he frantically began to look for any sign of civilization. After some time, he finally came across a small tattered house. Desperate, he got out of the car and knocked on the door. A beautiful lady opened the door. He explained the matter and asked her if he could use her telephone. However, the lady told him that she doesn’t have a phone or any electronic gadget but told the doctor to come inside and wait till the weather improved. Hungry, wet and exhausted, the doctor accepted her kind offer and walked in. The lady gave him hot tea and something to eat. The lady told him that he can join her for prayer. But, Dr. Mark smiled and said that he believed in hard work only and told her to continue with her prayers. Sitting on the table and sipping the tea, the doctor watched the woman in the dim light of candles as she prayed next to what appeared to be a small baby crib. Every time she finished a prayer, she would start another one. Feeling that the woman might be in need of help, the doctor seized the opportunity to speak as soon as she finished her prayers. The doctor asked her what exactly she wanted from the God and enquired if she thought God will ever listen to her prayers. He further asked about the small child in the crib for whom she was apparently praying. The lady gave a sad smile and said that the child in the crib is her son who is suffering from a rare type of cancer and there is only one doctor Mark who can cure him but she doesn’t have money to afford his fee and moreover Dr Mark lives in another far off town. She said that God has not answered her prayer so far but said that God will create some way out one day and added that she will not allow her fears to overcome her faith. Stunned and speechless Dr Mark was in tears which were rolling down his cheeks. He whispered, God is great and recollected the sequence of events. ….there was malfunction in the plane, a thunderstorm hit, and he lost his way; and all of this happened because God did not just answer her prayer but also gave him a chance to come out of materialistic world and give some time to the poor hapless people who have nothing but rich prayers.
  15. True, Jo mange Takhur apne te soee soee deve ... icha purakh sarb sukh data har ja ke vass hai kaamdena... Could u please share how u seek guidance to help get rid of doubts?
  16. Thats true, I love that quote- thanks for sharing. A lot of problems in life come because of the heavy influence of kalyug but if we turn to guru sahib maharaj ji has the responsibility to save his devotee because maharaj ji has given us that bachan in gurbani. I'm struggling with my marriage but I believe that maharaj ji joined us with his pavitar laavan and it's kalyug/western influence which has introduced things like divorce as in guru jis time a gursikh wouldn't ever consider divorce. So I have faith that guru sahib will save my marriage, guru gobind Singh ji says in his bachan that a man should never ever even think of another woman other than his wife - it's paap. A lot of people say that there may be something better etc, I would probably follow that thinking if it was for a job or something whereas situations like marriage which is done in GGSJ's hazuri can't just be a mistake...So I hope waheguru ji will do the same rakhya for me n my hubby as he did for bhai joga Singh.
  17. I've been thinking of the concept of hukam/karma/kismat a lot but ardas is a power which is a game changer. Examples in history 1. Mata Sulakhani who was blessed with 7 sons via ardas even after guru sahib said she didn't have a son in her kismat 2. A raja who visited Guru arjan dev ji and heard the ragi Singh a shabad about our destiny is already written, he questioned guru sahib and maharaj ji asked him to come tomorrow morning. When he went home that night he had a terrible nightmare. When he visited Guru sahib, he explained this and guru ji told him that whatever is in ur destiny will happen but via ardas and satsangat guru sahib can boil it down to a dream in that way ur destiny has happened but guru sahib has saved his devotee from harm. The extract attached is from bhai ragbir Singh birs book called chardikala. It speaks about a gursikhs relationship with destiny and karam
  18. Sikhi was never of any importance to me. I was still young, and always believed it was something that people did in their fifty’s to pass time. I wanted to “live life to the fullest,” and that wasn’t possible if I was living the lifestyle of a Sikh. I didn’t care to understand the concept of God, or why people had so much faith in Him. All I cared about was looking good, and having as much fun as I could before I got married (I knew my parents would marry me off to a Sikh). If I was to get into Sikhi it would be a lot later in my life.I had just turned 22, and because I had finished my degree and was able to support myself, I thought it was time that I went my own way. I had been under the control of my parents all of my life and although I respected that they were devoted to Sikhi, I knew that it wasn’t what I wanted in my life.I had been thinking about getting my hair trimmed for a while. I was getting sick of putting my hair up in a bun. My eyebrows took after my Pita Jee, bushy as can be, and I couldn’t wait to get those plucked.I didn’t tell my parents since I felt I was old enough to make my own decisions. I knew it was a bit selfish of me to go behind their backs, but I didn’t think too much of it.I went into the shop and got my hair trimmed a couple of centimeters and had my eyebrows shaped. There was a look of accomplishment when I looked at myself in the mirror for the first time. The reflection showed a new person, it was the person I always wanted to be.“Freedom!” I remember thinking to myself.I drove up into the garage of the house I had lived in for the last ten years of my life, and hoped that it would recognize me. As I walked into the house, I could feel my heart beating rapidly. My parents were in the kitchen so I walked in hastily, said my hello’s and headed into my room.I didn’t stay long enough in the kitchen to see my parents’ reactions. Mata Jee had just looked up at me when I left and Pita Jee was too absorbed reading the Panjabi newspaper.I could hear murmurs coming from the living room. And then for a couple of minutes they stopped. My heart was beating so fast.“Simran?” I could hear my mom calling for me.At first I didn’t want to answer.“Hunjee Mata Jee?” I whispered back hoping she wouldn’t hear me.“Can you come outside please?”“Okay, I’ll be there in a minute.”I started feeling guilty for cutting my hair but kept my composure and walked down the hall towards the living room.My parents were sitting cross legged on the rug, holding gutkay in their hands. My mom looked up at me and handed me a gutka and then nodded her head downwards (her way of telling me to sit down). It was the first time since I can remember that my parents called me to do paat with them. At first I wanted to get up and tell them I had work to do but then I just felt relieved that they weren’t yelling at me, so I sat down beside my mom and read along with Rehraas.Rehraas was finally over, and by this time I was yawning and just wanted to go to bed. We all got up to do ardaas. Pita Jee did it. Although I didn’t care for Sikhi, ardaas was the one aspect of Sikhi that meant something to me so I actually listened to the ardaas.Pita Jee came to the end of the ardaas. He did ardaas for Rehraas and then in a calm loving tone he asked, “Guru Sahib Jee, please bless our daughter with a Gursikhi life.”Mata Jee was sobbing. I wanted to cry as well, not becaus e I felt guilty but because I was hurt. Why would they do that to me? They could have done ardaas on their own time.I didn’t sleep that whole night. Pita Jee’s words kept running through my head no matter how high I turned up the radio. Two months had gone by. I kept my distance from my parents and even when Mata Jee tried to talk to me I gave her one word answers. Although two months had passed, I could still hear Pita Jee’s voice from that night. His ardaas was straight from his heart and I was afraid that it would come true. I had even done ardaas to undo the ardaas he did. That night my good friend was having a keertan at the Gurudwara. I never liked going to anyone’s programs, especially if they were at the Gurudwara, but that day I kept getting this push from inside to go.I arrived at the Gurudwara early and after failing to find someone I knew I proceeded towards the main darbar hall. I took a glance at Guru Granth Sahib Jee to make sure I was walking in the right direction. As I looked down at the ground I felt warmth take over my body. I felt calm. The vision of Guru Granth Sahib Jee covered with royal blue ramalay was grounded in my mind. I stood still for a moment and embraced the vision in my heart. Everything around me slowly disappeared. I took a step forward and then another, until I had reached the end. I looked up at the Guru. My mind was silenced in admiration of the beauty that was in front of me. I once again remembered Pita Jee’s ardaas and started to shed tears. Kneeling down to matha taake I could hear Pita Jee’s words so clearly, “Guru Sahib Jee please bless our daughter with a Gursikhi life.”The moment my forehead touched the Guru’s Charan I could hear whispers in my ear. I was trying to listen to what was being said but I couldn’t make out the words. I concentrated and tried again to listen to the sounds.“Waahe-Guroo. Waahe-Guroo. Waahe-Guroo…”At that time I didn’t know what to think of the moment. But, with the energy I had left I got up and sat in the Sangat. Time had vanished. My eyes were tightly fastened together and my mind was still. A soft white filled the room and I could hear more voices repeating “Waahe-Guroo.” I absorbed myself in the moment. Some time had gone by and I could see two figures appear in the distance. They were too far away for me to see if they were male or female but I could see that one was shorter than the other. I couldn’t see any details because the colours were meshed into one blur consisting of black, red and a pale brown. I tried to focus on the two figures hoping that I could piece together who they were. The two figures had vanished and then for a split second materialized again and this time I could see them clearly. That was the day that my Pita Jee’s ardaas had been answered. I took Amrit a week later. Every night in my ardaas I ask that everyone be blessed with a Gursikhi life. There are still days that go by when I feel distant from Sikhi. But, when those days come, I think back to the day when Guru Sahib Jee, with my naked eyes, showed me the Piyaar in the face of Bhai Taru Singh Jee as his scalp was being cut away from his body.
  19. 12/3/2013: The event for Seva of vulnerable and elderly Sangat was coming to the end of day at Gurdwara Singh Sabha Bradford. The Granthi singh had just finished doing katha and simran of the 11th asthpadee of sukhmani sahib, when a very upset young lady walked in. She said fateh to everyone with great humility and love. She looked very upset. The granthi singh asked, "is everything ok". She weeped slightly and said, "no my husband was suffering from bakhaar (temperature), he collapsed and got rushed in to intensive care, as he is quite serious. Can we do an ardaas she repeated in a very upset voice". The granthi singh said "dont worry bhenji you have great good fortune, as you have come to guru sahibs hazooree whilst Sangat is going on, he said I can not do anything myself the Sangat will bless you". He started the simran, there was around 13 older bibiaa in the Sangat and a couple of young singhs. The simran only lasted 5 mins but the ras (power/taste) in those 5 mins was immense. The bibi was crying whilst chanting Vaheguru. Everyone felt her pain and chanted in great vigour. The simran stopped, the granthi singh did an ardaas. In the ardaas the granthi singh said, "guru sahib ji I have no power, "I am weak but u have blessed your daughter in Sangat today and she is begging for you to listen to her prayer, birthee kadey na hoveaee jan Ki ardaas. Your servants ardaas has never failed. Nanak jor govind ka pooran gunthaas. Nanak takes the strength of the perfect lord of the universe, the treasure of excellence. Please bless bhenji with strength, please bless bhenji with gursikhi jeevan. Only you know her mind's desires guru sahib, please fulfil them". The granthi singh explained to guru sahib what was wrong with bhenjis husband and ended the ardaas. Bhenji in great humility thanked the Sangat, for chanting Vaheguru in Sangat and standing in the ardaas. She had tears running down her face and the Sangat really felt her emotions. Bhenjis love for the Sangat was visible through her eyes. The granthi singh said, "don't worry bhenji Guru ji and the Sangat will look after your husband, you came at the perfect time". Bhenji still crying tried to smile and slowly walked to her car. She asked the granthi singh to pls come to the hospital and see him. He agreed. Daas received a call around 14.30 from the granthi singh saying, "we got to the hospital and with Guru sahib and his sangat's apaar (amazing) kirpa the husband was absolutely fine before we got there". Saadsangat ji I was really touched by the love and power of guru sahibs Sangat and had to share this story. Proud to be a slave of my Guru. Guru sahib loves us and is always here for us, his love is unconditional. We only remember him when we need him. Let's all remember him always ji, without any condition. Dhan Teri Sikhee Guru Ji.
  20. There was a very loving and humble Gurmukh couple who did not have any children. Sometimes Vaheguru deliberately holds some gifts from us, so as to prompt us to do Bhagti and turn towards Him. Of course, many times we lack things because of our past Karma. In such cases too, we need to build Karma or destroy bad Karma through Naam and Gurbani, and this way attain the necessities we need in this life. The Gurmukh couple did benti (request) before the Jatha to do Samagam at their residence and then perform an Ardaas for them. The Jatha including Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee arrived at the Gursikh’s house and did Gurmat Samagam. The couple did sewa of Gursikhs with great faith and very humbly. Bhai Sahib in particular was very pleased with their sewa.At the conclusion of the Samagam, the Ardaasiya Singh (one who performs Ardaas) started doing Ardaas. In the end, when the Ardaasiya Singh said, “O Sache Paatshah, the Gursikh couple has done sewa of the Samagam. Please fulfill their wish and bless them with a son.”Bhai Sahib who was standing in the Sangat, interrupted and speaking loudly pleaded, “O Sache Paatshah, not one, but please bless them with two sons.” (ਸਚੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ, ਇਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੋ ਬਖਸ਼ੋ!)Everyone was surprised that Bhai Sahib had interrupted the Ardaasiya Singh and asked for 2 sons instead of 1 that Ardaasiya Singh was asking for. Bhai Sahib had been so pleased with the couple's dedication to Sikhi and their serving spirit that he went out of his way to reward them. Such is the reward when we humbly serve Gursikhs.Giani Gurditt Singh jee then told us that within two or three years, the couple was blessed with 2 sons and they are still alive today. Such is the power of Ardaas of Sangat and such is the reward we get, when we serve the Gursikhs humbly and earnestly. The following Gurbani pankiti comes to mind at this time:ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਮਾਗੈ ॥ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗੈ ॥(If someone is looking for Chaar Padarath, he should serve the Gursikhs)May Guru Sahib bless us with ability to serve Gursikhs and forever remain humble before Gursikhs.
  21. I've been reading up on ardas as I'm going through a difficult situation myself. 1.With waheguru jis grace I've read bhai ragbir Singh bir's 'power of prayer' book where he's shared countless experiences of how maharaj ji answers prayers ( definitely recommend reading that) 2. Bhai guriqbal Singh ji's presents the experiences of the power sukhmani sahib answering the sangat's prayers in his book '9 qualities of sukhmani sahib' 3. I read parts of bhai ragbir Singh bir book 'chardikala' which talks about the concept of kismat in a gursikhs life. He explains that although many gursikhs may chose to accept God's will, gursikhs can go beyond kismat and be forgiven for their past bad karma I.e. God boils down upcoming bad destiny to nightmares (famous saakhi linked to this too) I'm now started reading a new book called 'the miracles of ardas' by sant niranjan Singh ji. One thing I'm finding in common is that faith has to be unbreakable - chose faith over fear. Also the stories that the books have shared are of 'ordinary' people Obviously reading things from books can build your faith to an extent so I was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience of their or someone they know ardas being answered. If anyone could share anything, I'd be beyond thankful.
  22. Thats such a reassuring teaching from maskeen ji, a while back I wouldn't have understood it but the notion of ardas and guru sahibs deyaalta explains how guru sahib can change ur karam. Thank u so much I've been reading the 9 qualities of sukhmani sahib by bhai guriqbal Singh ji, the power of ardas by bhai ragbir Singh bir. I'm looking to read something else that'll build my faith/ share experiences of gurbani saving devotees. I have read janam saakhis before so at the moment they don't get my attention. Please suggest any books preferably in english as I use them as bedtime reading so English is easier. I'd be really thankful I used to think my marriage has failed but thinking about it I realised that it was a failed marriage before when I thought I was in control now my marriage is in the hands of dhan guru ram das ji and in their hands even broken things fixed, dirty things become pure, bad karam become good... so I would say my marriage is on a journey to success and happiness. Yes ur right I'm only 24, this time I'll never get again and once waheguru ji blesses me and reunites me with my hubby I probs wont have much time to spend with my family at home so I should take advantage. Please please please in the roop of sangat give ur asees that me and my hubby reunite and have a chardikala, gursikhi wala jeevan. Maharaj ji says that the blessings of the sangat is the most powerful like in bhai chajju jis saakhi dhan guru arjan dev ji couldn't turn down what the sangat has said. The sangat's blessing are like priceless diamonds and work magically please please I humbly request ur precious blessings may dhan guru ram das keep his laavan di laaj ?
  23. Is there an online link anywhere for Accending spirits book by bhai ragbir Singh bir ji Desperately want to read this book
