  1. We all have a cause, physically attacking a temple is not the way. Why is everyone boasting that the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was rescued. It wasn't. The 2 holy scriptures taken was purchased from Soho Road for £20 / £30. ie Any Tom, <admin-profanity filter activated> or Harry can get hold of them. In my opinion justice was not done on Sunday. Embarrisment was acheived. (Everyboby has a right to express their views - hence this website - and that is my opinion. Truth is Truth, no getting away from it. Any more bad language - whats that going to acheive.
  2. I was there on Sunday. Nobody has said about the foul language shouting towards Ek Niwas, the attack on the unmarked police car taking Baba Ji & Mata Ji by our Singhs, their sungat being punched, women in the shoe room with a new born baby having glass shattered over them.
  3. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? YOU SEEM TO STIR UP ISSUES THAT ARE FAR BEYOND YOUR CONTROL. WHAT SEVA HAVE YOU ACTUALLY DONE, HOW MUCH TIME HAVE YOU DEVOTED TO SUNGAT SEVACAN. WHAT MAKES YOU A PERSON TO DECIDE WHETHER A GURDWARA CAN BE OPENED OR NOT. YOU MY FRIEND GET ON WITH YOUR OWN LIFE AND LET THE GOOD PEOPLE OF EK NIWAS GET ON WITH THEIR OWN. ADMIN CLOSE THIS TOPIC, IT WILL GET OUT OF CONTROL ADMIN CLOSE THIS TOPIC
  4. YOU LOT MAKE ME LAUGH. THE POLICE ARE MONITORING YOUR MOVES. THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF BUILDING A CASE. I HAVE HIGH LEVEL INSIDE INFORMATION. BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU DO WITH IT IF YOU GET IT.
  5. In true sikhism, as verybody has stated there is no caste system. In reality it does exist. Ask yourself whn it comes time for marriage, what is one of the first questions that is asked? Yes, What is your caste. Would your parents also concent to marrying out of caste?

  12. Oh It's all started again has it. 84 Survivor - I admire you as you have a talant for manuipulating the the sungat in this forum with such "accurate" information - it couldn't be far from it. When was the last time you actual checked your facts. So many readers have become involved in this debate and don't know that they has been mis-guided. What else can I say
  13. On the same lines as the topic what about tatoo's people have?
  14. RupZ, I thing you written a good article. We all are sikhs and sometimes we get to focused on certain areas of what we want to hear. It is refreshing to learn more about sikhism about points you have raised. A question to general sungat are there people out there who use this forum and truely have read the SGGS and understand it. Would it be then possible in future to ask various questions as they come up?
  15. Respected Sungat, Gurdwaras throughout the UK have different polices on eating lungar. I think what is serious is the wearing of shoes whist eating lungar or even serving lungar. Birmingham Soho Road gurdwara also allows shoes to be worn in the main hall but not in the small hall. But the sevadars wear fip folps. May be a step in the right direction is to tackle the shoe situation first
  16. A general question. Do younger sikhs who are not amarti associate bhangra music as an identity as being a sikh? Although they may not go to gurdwara as often as they should but they feel by participating with the bhangra culture, be it gigs etc, they are still part of the sikh hertitage. When I was at University some 10 years ago in Manchester gigs were a way that sikhs got together (not amartis), The Punjabi society then was to get students to go to Gurdwara as much as possible, which we students then did do. Also the other adgenda was to get students to associate as much as possible. The way forward here was to arrange as many bhangra gigs as possible. It seems as 10 years on, today sikhs are more into the religion than to participate in gigs etc with alcohol.
  17. Apologies, I am not knocking the older Sikhs, just trying to learn
  18. The younger generation is now a third generation. This has given them confidence to become Amarti which is now accepted by most people in society. Compare this to a generation back, it may have been difficult to fit in. But at the same time it is because of the older sikh, the younger sikhs life has become easier as past battles have already been won. Also Sikh population has grown along with groups at Gurdwaras, student societies etc. All of this has excelled the younger sikh to go passionately as far as possible allowable in the religion. Futhermore the younger may have learn from the mistakes from the elders eg, drinking etc.
  19. Hello everybody. I am a new to this forum and want to learn more about the differences between the way we act from point of view of an elder Sikh and a younger Sikh. eg, I fell Younger Sikhs are more passionate about our religion. Would you also say that differences exist to that of a Sikh in the UK to one from INDIA
