  13. Taken from http://abhiyaas.blogspot.com/2006/02/naam-drug.html Naam Drug O Lord God, please bless me with Your Mercy, and pour Your Name into my mouth, even if for only an instant. Without the Lord, I cannot live for even a second. Like the addict who dies without his drug, I die without the Lord. Pause (ang 668) Here in this Shabad Guru RaamDaas Jee is doing a Bentee (plea) to Akaal Purakh (God) and begging for just one drop of Amrit-Naam to be put in to his mouth, he is also stating he cannot live without praising the Lord Vahiguroo for even a second just like a drug addict suffers and cries out without Heroin. He/she will do anything to get Heroin, they forsake self respect; self honour and go out and commit the saddest of crimes for that few seconds of buzz, these people will not rest until the drug is back into their system. This is the same way a Sikh suffers without Naam. The mortal does not see the Lord near at hand; instead, he goes to the homes of others. He steals their wealth and lives in falsehood. Under the influence of the drug of illusion, he does not know that the Lord is with him. (ang 1139) Many years before coming in to the fold of Sikhee, Daas used to take drugs. When we (myself and friends) used to go out clubbing to dance to Garage music we used to take Class B drugs just to be on the same level as other clubbers. The drugs we took were speed also known as Wizz and e-tablets. These drugs had a massive effect on the energy levels of ones body, no one with a straight head can go in to a dance club and dance all night and all day up to dinner time; they would be tired after the first hour and then begin to think 'wow' what are these people on! We also had to keep a bottle of Water with us to stop our body from de-hydrating, the same fast pace of dancing was kept all night. Every body was in total ecstasy, jolly, happy, loving and just enjoying themselves to the max because they were all on the same level. I remember what this drug did to me. I took this drug a couple of hours before entering the club, when I got in to the club and was hit by the music and happy faces all the energy in my body rushed to the top of my head and kept me dancing at a fast pace for several hours, the energy was sat at the top of my head for all these hours, this is what kept me going. We used to drive back from the clubs using highways and look at each other in the eye and we were all wide eyed, the reason for this, again is because the energy was in the top of the head, we used to smoke Marawana to help us come down from this state. This drug originally makes one lazy and drowsy but even this could not bring us down from this uplifted state. We used to get home in the early hours of the morning, around 7am and sneak in to bed, we then woke up around 2pm went downstairs sat in a corner all day drained from having no energy because it had all been used the night before, feeling weak and awful waiting for the next night to go back and do it all again. We ended up losing a lot of weight and our parents would call us amlee (drugy). I am aware I have not used the term 'Daas' in the top half of the article, the reason for this is I talked a lot about my past life and did not feel comfortable using the term daas for a total slave to ones mind. Daas means to be a slave of Guru Sahib (God). Emotional attachment has drugged him, and he has forgotten the Lord, the treasure of virtue. Don't think that he is alive in the world - he is dead, through the love of duality. (ang 643 ) Daas would now like to sum up what Daas is trying to say in the message above. Firstly everything what Daas did in the past life was totally and utterly against Gurmat - Gurus teachings and had no value or goal. Daas was a slave to the mind. Daas is not recommending drugs as being a good thing they destroy our life just like they did to Daas. The point Daas wants to make is through experience, the drug (speed) only keeps ones energy up for a certain length of time after this length of time one feels a come down in energy and feels down in the dumps until this drug is taken again. THE DRUG NAAM (meditation) does exactly the same as the worldly drug the only difference is once Naam reaches the higher consciousness (top of the head, crown chakra) just like the worldly drug did, through Abhiyaas (practice) and blessing the Naam will stay there and one will constantly stay uplifted, one will never feel down, never suffer from negative worldly emotions, ones eyes will constantly be widened like Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Jee for example in his photographs, (stare). The reason for this is when the body is intoxicated in extreme energy it shows in the eyes, one will always have plenty of energy, one will not need to sleep at night, ones concentration through Naam will keep one awake, ones face will be khiriya (glow) have lali (radiance), one will feel the energy in every hair of the body (rom) ones hair contains a large amount of energy and produces a lot more through Naam this is the reason why most of the praatan Bhagats were all Kesadhaaree, daas was told this by a Woman practicing spirituality through a different faith. Daas will talk about rom at another time. The eyes of a Naam Abhiyaasee (Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji) O mind, meditate on the Dear Lord, with single-minded conscious concentration. The glorious greatness of the Lord shall last forever and ever; He never regrets what He gives. (ang 653) Here are a few physical examples for when energy rises to our head for a very short period of time: When somebody instantly gets very frightened by something their eyes are immediately widened because of the energy rushing to their head. When somebody is having a great laugh and joke, very excited if one ever notices, the energy again will be in the head area. Boxers relax for a full day before going in to the ring, again to preserve energy. We talk about all this energy staying in the crown of our heads (Dasam Duaar) through Naam 24 hours a day, what is the reason for this? God is energy, God is a force, God is a power in every single atom of the universe so when we meditate and reach high levels of spirituality we are bringing energy of the universe (God) in to our very own being which settles in the Dasam Duaar and the force of this energy causes it to open. This is why the more Abhiyaas one does the more ones concentration increases and more energy is produced, one cannot imagine how much energy a Bhramgyanis being has produced as he/she is Parmesar (God). Daas remembers listening to a lecture by Late Sant Singh Maskeen Jee, he quoted a Bhramgyanis aura has a 12 mile radius, all beings can feel the vibrant layers of energy coming from this immortal pure being. Daas humbly agrees with this statement by Maskeen Jee, 'Bhramgyani Aap Parmesar'. A person who reaches this state is God himself so all beings in the universe will feel his/her aura as God created the universe and reunited us with ones self. The God-conscious being is the Creator of all the world. The God-conscious being lives forever, and does not die. The God-conscious being is the Giver of the way of liberation of the soul. The God-conscious being is the Perfect Supreme Being, who orchestrates all. The God-conscious being is the helper of the helpless. The God-conscious being extends his hand to all. The God-conscious being owns the entire creation. The God-conscious being is himself the Formless Lord. The glory of the God-conscious being belongs to the God-conscious being alone. O Nanak, the God-conscious being is the Lord of all. 88 This is one of the reasons why we hear a lot about Praatan Singhs doing physical sevaa constantly without getting tired. When we get to this stage where Shabad and Surat become one in the crown chakra of the head and create a massive amount of energy in the head area everyday people will find it difficult to look in ones eyes, comments will also be made like I bet you’ve had a good nights sleep; your eyes are always wide open. In the same way we also don’t want to make eye contact with everyday beings because we know exactly what our being is going through, it also becomes very difficult to string a sentence together when we are in full focus this is why a lot of Abhiyaasee (concentrated practice) Gurmukhs don’t speak much - they are not on the same level as society so they say its better staying quite. Daas has heard a lot of stories about the more Simran one does the louder the Shabad gets. This is not true, the more Abhiyaas (practice) one does, the lighter the Shabad gets because it becomes one to one with our being but will get stronger in concentration, this comes in the form of a constant pulling in the head area, the head also feels radiant and the mind is in total tik-ka (steady) to be in this state 24 hours is an amazing blessing by Guru Sahib. This energy/pull is the same sort of feeling as when one lifts his eyebrows up or just stares at something. Priceless are His Blessings, Priceless is His Banner and Insignia. Just want to add: Daas is not making anything up it is all personal experience only with Guru Jees Kirpaa. THERE IS NO DRUG MORE POWERFUL THAN THE DRUG OF NAAM AS THIS WILL KEEP US UPLIFTED ATHAI PEHAR (24 hours) ONLY WHEN SHABAD AND SURAT (concentration) COME TOGETHER IN THE DASAM DUAAR (tenth gate). Once the drug of Naam becomes one-to-one with our mind, body and soul it is very difficult to let go, even if one tried not to Jap Naam, Naam would vibrate in ones being automatically this; is the power of this amazing drug. Just like to add now that Daas has tasted both worldly and spiritual drugs the worldly drug is of no comparison even in the slightest way to the spiritual drug Without the Name, I would die; the Name of my Lord and Master is to me like the drug to the addict. My heart is illuminated by spiritual wisdom; meeting the Guru, I meditate in the Sky of the Tenth Gate. (ang 339) DAAS WOULD JUST LIKE TO REPEAT THE ENERGY IN WHICH DAAS HAS TALKED ABOUT THROUGHOUT THIS ARTICLE ONLY REACHES THE TOP OF THE HEAD CROWN CHAKRA THROUGH INTENSE NAAM ABHIYAAS AND GURU JEES KIRPA. THIS ENERGY IS CREATED BY SHABAD AND SURAT (CONCENTRATION) COMING TOGETHER IN THE CROWN CHAKRA AND THEN STAYING THERE IN THE FORM OF DHIAAN (CONCENTRATION). ONCE THE SHABAD AND SURAT SETTLE IN THE CROWN CHAKRA AND STAY THERE THIS IS WHEN THE DASAM DUAAR (TENTH GATE) OPENS, TO KEEP THE TENTH GATE OPEN SHABAD AND SURAT HAVE TO STAY IN THE CROWN CHAKRA MEANING TOP OF HEAD. WE WILL KNOW WHEN SHABAD AND SURAT ARE THERE, IT FEELS LIKE A CONSTANT KHICH (PULL) IN THE TOP OF THE HEAD AREA IT IS NOT PAINFUL IT IS ALWAYS UPLIFTING TO ONES BEING. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP DHIAAN UP HERE IN GIRASTEE (HOUSE HOLDER LIFE) BUT THROUGH ABHIYAAS IT NATURALLY STAYS THERE. IN THE EARLY STAGES THE DHIAAN WILL KEEP ON COMING BACK DOWN TO THE LOWER CONCIOSNESS BELOW THE CHIN AREA, THIS IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT WITH GURU JEES KIRPA AND THE RAS OF THE HIGHER CONCIOUSNESS ONE WILL ALWAYS STRIVE ON TAKING DHIAAN BACK TO THE TOP, THE MOST DIFFICULT PART IS KEEPING IT THERE. The Tenth Gate of my crown chakra is the distilling fire, and the channels of the Ida and Pingala are the funnels, to pour in and empty out the golden vat. Those, whose inverted lotus of the crown chakra is illuminated, see the Immaculate Lord everywhere. (ang 108) One has to read both these Shabads in full to get a clear picture in what Guru Jee is saying, please take time out to research. The drop is in the ocean, and the ocean is in the drop. Who understands, and knows this? He Himself creates the wondrous play of the world. He Himself contemplates it, and understands its true essence. How rare are those who contemplate this spiritual wisdom. Through this, the supreme state of liberation is attained. The night is in the day, and the day is in the night. The same is true of hot and cold. No one else knows His state and extent; without the Guru, this is not understood. The female is in the male, and the male is in the female. Understand this, O God-realized being! The music of shabad is in the concentration, and knowledge is in concentration. Become Gurmukh, and speak the Unspoken Speech. The Light is in the mind, and the mind is in the Light. The Guru brings the five senses together, like brothers. Nanak is forever a sacrifice to those who enshrine love for the One Word of the Shabad. (ang 878) This is an amazing shabad by Guru Nanak Dev Jee explaining to us how any one of these cannot live with out the other i.e, the ocean is in the drop just as the drop is in the ocean, the night is in the day just as the day is in the night, the female can not live without the male just as the male can not live without the female, then Guru Sahib says there is no point having Shabad without concentration just as concentration will be of no use without shabad. The moral is it is difficult to japna naam athe pehar, it is even more difficult to Jap Naam Athai Pehar with single minded concentration, there is no progression without concentration. May Guru Sahib bless us with addiction of the universes most powerful drug -> NAAM.

Guru Sahib explains clearly in this Shabad peace, contentment, raj yoga, honor, glory will only come through Naam, Guru Sahib also explains everything we do in life will be perfect if it is blessed by Guru Sahibs Naam Abhiyaas through every breath. They did nothing for society, they meditated for powers which led to Ego, they did not meditate on the Name of the Lord Vahiguroo, they meditated through physically controlling the breathing, they never led a householders life, nor earned an honest living, they kept extreme rules and penances and lived as renunciates, which made their practice very difficult to follow and spread, e.g. walking around naked, shaving their heads. Their practices became very egotistical rather than humble. Guru Sahib explains in this Shabad, one becomes a great Yogi only when one cuts the noose of Maayaa (materialistic pleasures) from the mind through the loving devotion of Athai Pehar Naam Abhiyaas (24,7 Simran). YOG is the name for perfect technique and this perfect technique is only given by Guru Sahib in the form of Shabad. (Ang 237) gourree mehulaa 5 Gauree, Fifth Mehl: jo eis maarae soee sooraa One who kills this is a spiritual hero. jo eis maarae soee pooraa One who kills this is perfect. jo eis maarae thisehi vaddiaaee One who kills this obtains glorious greatness. jo eis maarae this kaa dhukh jaaee One who kills this is freed of suffering. 1 aisaa koe j dhubidhaa maar guvaavai How rare is such a person, who kills and casts off duality. eisehi maar raaj jog kumaavai Killing it, he attains Raja Yoga, the Yoga of meditation and success. 1Pause Guru Sahib has gave a lot of respect to the word Yoga in Gurbaanee, as mentioned above in this Shabad, and mentioned in many more Shabads, Guru Sahib is talking about killing ones duality (doubts) in this Shabad, one who kills their doubts attains Raaj Yoga. Doubts will only lead to negative thinking, which in turn will cause negative actions. One cannot be called Gurmukh if one lives in doubt, as one is not living in Bhaanaa (accepting will) and lacks faith in Guru Sahib. If we do something wrong we should not regret it or doubt it, just learn from it and accept it, make sure we don’t do it again, never dwell as this means we are not in peace with Naam in this moment of time. (Ang 939) dhurusun bhaekh kuruhu jogindhraa mundhraa jholee khinthaa "Wear the robes of the sect of Yogis who follow Gorakh; put on the ear-rings, begging wallet and patched coat. baareh anthar eaek suraevuhu khutt dhurusun eik punthaa Among the twelve schools of Yoga, ours is the highest; among the six schools of philosophy, ours is the best path. ein bidh mun sumujhaaeeai purukhaa baahurr chott n khaaeeai This is the way to instruct the mind, so you will never suffer beatings again."" naanuk bolai gurumukh boojhai jog jugath eiv paaeeai Nanak speaks: the Gurmukh understands; this is the way that Yoga is attained. 9 anthar subudh nirunthar mudhraa houmai mumuthaa dhoor kuree Let constant absorption in the Word of the Shabad deep within be your ear-rings; eradicate egotism and attachment. kaam krodh ahunkaar nivaarai gur kai subadh s sumujh puree Discard sexual desire, anger and egotism, and through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, attain true understanding. khinthaa jholee bharipur rehiaa naanuk thaarai eaek huree For your patched coat and begging bowl, see the Lord God pervading and permeating everywhere; O Nanak, the One Lord will carry you across. saachaa saahib saachee naaee purukhai gur kee baath khuree True is our Lord and Master, and True is His Name. Guru Sahib replied, “if you analyze the Name of the Lord you will find the word of the Guru to be true. There is no larger faith than the faith of Naam, no faith can compare unless they dwell in Athai Pehar Naam Abhiyaas with every breath and this Yog is only given by Guru Sahib. He is the Divine Immaculate Lord Himself. 4 Guru Sahib has made it clear in Salokh Sehiskritee only the Shabad of Guru Sahib prevails the Universe, this is the true Yoga there is no other Yoga, Naam is Yoga and Yoga is Naam. If one wants to practice the exercises of Yoga for physical stability and posture one should feel free to do so, but one should not get in to the breathing techniques of Yoga, as this is not Gurmat. Any breathe without they name of the Lord is a breath wasted in evil thoughts. One should meditate Athai Pehar (24/7) with every breath in order to be liberated in this life. (Please remember this.) The Yogic teachers of this day and age are using the philosophy of our 1st master Guru Nanak Sahib Jee to spread the teachings of Yoga. One of them teaches on Aasthaa International TV, he looks young with black beard and long black hair, he wears an orange 'Baana'(picture at the top of page), Daas does not know his name, Daas heard he was called Raamdev. He uses the Name of the Lord as his breathing technique, Daas heard that he uses various names like Vahiguroo, Allah hoo, Raam etc. He earns money through curing illness by prescribing his own medicine, and also charges a fee for attending, he also teaches posture and explains about the various Veins, Limbs and Arteries in the Body, (the Yogis usually have a lot of knowledge on the Anatomy of the body). Using the Lords name is not the Yogic philosophy, as Daas has explained above and in previous articles, the Yogic philosophy is controlling breathing for a longer life span and spiritual powers, through this one cannot be liberated, one will suffer through the fire of personal Ego. The upsetting side is he has millions of viewers a lot of them being old Amritdhaaree Gursikhs, he also has Amritdhaaree Gursikhs attending his camps. What is the reason for this? The reason for this is lack of faith in Guru Sahib, he is using Guru Sahibs teachings to spread spirituality, but we cannot go directly to Guru Sahib to find our answers, we need a middleman. Another reason is lack of Spiritual Parchaar, we decide to keep our Spiritual earnings and profit to ourselves rather than helping our brothers and sisters out there to strengthen Guru Sahibs Panth. If one wants to learn about the body, posture etc one should feel free to do so through these programmes. Daas' personal opinion is one should Japna Naam Athai Pehar and Gyaan will ponder around the feet of such soul, let us search inside not outside, let us purify our mind and not look for answers, as this will only slow down progression in spirituality. If we search Gurbaanee we will be amazed about the things Guru Sahib talks about, lets use Guru Sahib and personal effort and not search for answers off people who are not Pooran (pure), we can only be sure of Guru Sahib being Pooran and no Human-being, this is the reason we never follow any Human being no matter how spiritual, earn a direct link through Naam to Guru Sahib. However, Guru Sahib has mentioned the body being a temple, if this temple breaks down it becomes very difficult to meditate, so it is very important for one to look after ones health, posture etc. If we look in the Guroodwaare we see many Punjabee Sikhs slouching and struggling to sit. If we have to take up Yogic exercises to improve in posture this is not a bad thing, as long as the breath is accompanied by Naam and nothing else. Also in Sikhee there is no wrong and right the subconscious mind needs to be positive through Naam, this is why in Gurbaanee Guru Sahib mentions a Bhagat (Saint) who had many twists in his body. (Sorry cannot remember the name). A little paragraph about Singh Sahib Yogi Harbhajan Jee. Yogi Bhajan, phd, has been a pioneer in bringing the timeless wisdom of India to the west. Master of Kundalini Yoga and white tantric yoga, spiritual director of 3ho foundation, and chief religious authority for the Sikh religion in the west, Yogi Bhajan was awarded a doctrate degree in the field of humanistic phychology for his ground breaking work in exploring the dynamics of human communication. Through his teachings on Yoga, meditation and conscious living, Yogi Bhajan had helped hundreds of thousands to live more full and healthy lives. Yogi Bhajan was blessed by Guru Sahib, as he only taught Yoga through Shabad and united his followers with Gurbaanee, Gurmat and Shabad, very rarely do Gurmukhs like this come to Earth and change the lives of many thousands for the better. His followers speak very highly of him, as they believe he was blessed by Guru Jee to bring them closer to God. (Ang 185) hum dhunuvunth bhaaguth such naae I am prosperous and fortunate, for I have received the True Name. har gun gaaveh sehaj subhaae I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, with natural, intuitive ease. 1Pause peeoo dhaadhae kaa khol ddithaa khujaanaa When I opened it up and gazed upon the treasures of my father and grandfather, thaa maerai man bhaeiaa nidhaanaa then my mind became very happy. 1 ruthun laal jaa kaa kushoo n mol The storehouse is inexhaustible and immeasurable, overflowing with priceless jewels and rubies. 2 khaavehi khuruchehi ral mil bhaaee The Siblings of Destiny meet together, and eat and spend, thott n aavai vudhudho jaaee but these resources do not diminish; they continue to increase. 3 kuhu naanuk jis musuthak laekh likhaae Says Nanak, one who has such destiny written on his forehead, s eaeth khujaanai laeiaa rulaae becomes a partner in these treasures. 431100 Guru Sahib explains in this Shabad through constant meditation and sharing ones earnings of Naam profit with siblings who are yearning for Guru Sahibs lotus feet, ones profit of Naam will only increase and not diminish. One has to be very careful when sharing ones profit of Naam, the warrior ego is always waiting to attack. This does not give anyone the excuse to share personal spiritual experiences unless they are Gupt (secret), as this could very easily lead to ego. This means one should guide another being through the spiritual journey Guru Sahib has put us together on through the spirits earnings of divine-knowledge which comes from Guru Sahibs blessings of Naam. WE ARE VERY BLESSED TO BE SIKHS SOMETHING IN WHICH WE HAVE NOT REALIZED WE WILL ONLY BE LIBERATED THROUGH NAAM, GURU, REHIT AND AMRIT WE NEED NO VICHOLAA (middle man), AS THIS DUTY HAS BEEN GIVEN TO GURU SAHIB BY AKAAL PURAKH VAHIGUROO, AND SHABAD. LET US PURIFY OUR MINDS AND LIBERATE OUR SOULS THROUGH THE BLESSINGS OF GURU SAHIB JEES SHABAD. IS YOGA A PART OF SIKHEE? SIKHEE IS A YOGA OF ITS OWN. SHABAD IS THE YOG.
